    It's a great game, even without the Checkpoint system. It has beautiful physics and beautiful graphics according to its time, but there is a shortage of optimization.

    The game story is brilliant and the character building is at it's highest.

    The new Rage engine does a really great job making the ragdoll physics natural and the car physics and anything that's in the game is just next gen

    It was released back in 2003.. yet still better than GTA V.

    Things I liked.
    ā€¢ The physics.
    ā€¢The graphics/how the game changes colors based on who you play.
    ā€¢ all the small details that make the world of this game feel alive.
    ā€¢No flying bikes.
    ā€¢No sharkcard **** attached.
    ā€¢ And finally, the actual crime story they tell instead of something that's trying to rip-off sants row.

    Still has amazing physics, pretty decent graphics, greeaat story line, great side missions, amazing dlc's.

    A seriously amazing game for its time, and in my opinion, vastly underrated by the community.

    Played GTA 3, GTA: SA and GTA V and the GTA 4 spinoffs. Out of those 4 i would put it number 3 on the list, nr 1 GTA:sa, nr 2 GTA V. The story is better than in GTA 5 but the gameplay and possibilities are a little more blend. Definitely give it a try if you are a fan of the franchise.

    The story about the mafia, diamonds, drugs and how they pass from one hand to another creating mini-stories that create the main story is masterful, a masterpiece this game

    The online didn't have much content but it managed to be a lot of fun with just a few missions, races, deathmatches and a free world at the airport

    Details as incredible as that niko improves his English over time or if you fail the mission will have new dialogues, internet, physics, driving, the a.i. and many more details that to this day continue to surprise me.

    The b.s.o. It is good with its main theme and stations like the journey, the gunplay improved a lot compared to other gta as being able to aim manually or automatically depending on the pressure of the trigger or cover yourself even rolling to a cover

    Every time I play it again I discover or remember some detail that seems incredible to me that it was in 2.008

    I've gotten platinum in every GTA game available on console and I must say, this one didn't disappoint at all. The graphics for the time were amazing. While the driving felt like boats and was nowhere good as GTA 5, it was still fun and the flying mechanics were much more enjoyable than that in GTA 5. The story was amazing.     A great game, the gray days of New York are conveyed just fine. The plot is average, there are some memorable characters, but there are not many of them. The gameplay and physics are amazing. I like this game, but the plot is bad.

    Gta 5 is imo the best ever but this definitely deserves my 10 rating. I remember tge excitement when I started playing it as a kid and especially "cops N crooks" online mod, which not even in Gta 5 I couldn't match it.

    One of the best Grand Theft Auto games I've ever played. The compelling and dark story of Niko Bellic and plot set in the vast criminal underworld of Liberty City really made this one of the greatest storylines in any GTA game. Alongside that, GTA IV introduced a lot of new features such as better ragdoll physics, better gunfights including the ability to take cover, the ability to makeOne of the best Grand Theft Auto games I've ever played. The compelling and dark story of Niko Bellic and plot set in the vast criminal underworld of Liberty City really made this one of the greatest storylines in any GTA game. Alongside that, GTA IV introduced a lot of new features such as better ragdoll physics, better gunfights including the ability to take cover, the ability to make choices during missions, the ability to hang out with friends, and an overall much alive and realistic atmosphere. Overall, one of the greatest games I've ever played on the Playstation 3.

    Great game. deep story, protagonist with a life story, one of the best gameplay and realistic physics that impresses in the middle of 2020. in the smallest details convinces me to be the best game in the series ever released.
    the game map could be bigger and the soundtrack is not so good compared to "vice city" and "san andreas".

    I'll be honest, this was my first ever GTA game I played. And it didn't diappoint. The friend feature was fine for a lil bit, but then got really annoying after awhile. I can't say much about the multiplayer since I didn't play that portion of the game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ahhh GTA IV, played this game at release back at 2008 and play again this game after 12 years makes me want to review this game.

    Ok, the graphics is really good at the time of this game release but what i like the most is the physics of this game, combining realism and over the top makes me feel at the time this is the best physic on any video game.

    The story is really good, you follow Niko Bellic, a former soldier trying to living the american dream but instead falls into the criminal underworld to pay the debts of his cousin. The story is darker compared to other GTA games and thats good, giving the story much more matured. The character development is good and the message of the story is very clear that revenge feels empty and useless and must move on. Niko Bellic also for me is the 2nd best video game character (behind Arthur Morgan from RDR 2).

    The gameplay is really good at the time, i like the cover system because it's so smooth but the gunplay is somewhaty too easy because the constant lock on target system. The Liberty city is so well crafted that the city feels alive.

    But thats where the good stuff ends, for fun gameplay, this game is mediocre compared to GTA SA, the world is smaller, less minigames other than the famous bowling meme and focus on realism is good but takes away all the fun, and the licensed soundtrack is somewhat mediocre than other GTA games.

    That's about it, i think this game is still worth playing in 2020 after all hehehe..    … Expand

There`s nothing better than driving the dark streets of LibertyAs a GTA fan from the first hour it was very delightful to see the giant steps Rockstar Games takes with every release. The series always stood for beautiful open worlds, badass stories, exaggerated action, well written characters and a sheer freedom of playing. GTA IV satisfies all of these characteristics with brilliance.     It's GTA with shiny new graphics, hilarious ragdoll physics (Crash your car at sixty miles per hour on the free way towards oncoming traffic; priceless), and a gripping new storyline filled with the usual GTA nutjobs and ingenious voice acting. That, and the radio stations are as sarcastic and satirical as ever. Go buy it; it has tons of mileage for your money.

El multi es lo que tiene que ser un multi de GTA, sin micro pagos y solo tu y tus amigos haciendo el imbĆ©cil por la ciudad.

    DARK, GRITTY AND GORY.

    This installment in the Grand Theft Auto universe is the darkest and the most mature game in the entire series. A personal favourite of mine, this game is filled with dark and grey themes blended with intense violence which makes you question the essence of humanity time and time again. The storyline is astonishingly great, it's highly addictive and it always makes    DARK, GRITTY AND GORY.

    This installment in the Grand Theft Auto universe is the darkest and the most mature game in the entire series. A personal favourite of mine, this game is filled with dark and grey themes blended with intense violence which makes you question the essence of humanity time and time again. The storyline is astonishingly great, it's highly addictive and it always makes you wanna know what comes next. This game has some extremely well-written characters with great dialogues. In fact, the main protagonist of GTA IV known as Niko Bellic, is among the best characters in video gaming history. GTA IV can be pretty divisive and it might not be everyone's cup of tea. It doesn't recycle the tried-and-tested GTA formula, and does a great job of differentiating itself from all its predecessors and also the most recent installment, GTA V.

    Grand Theft Auto IV is an extraordinary game, a masterpiece that leaves an everlasting impact on the gamers.

Aunque el mapa este bueno por ser NY, le faltan cosas: vegetaciĆ³n, lugares accesibles (como burger shot, chicken bell, etc) y que sea mas amplio.     While the story could be better, somehow I grew fond of the main character, and I enjoyed going through the missions and completing the game. I feel the world is pretty big, there's quite a lot to see and do without it getting too repetitive. You can spend a lot of time playing this game, especially if you want to complete all the side missions, so you definitely get your money's worth

    Grand Theft Auto IV definitely isnt a perfect game, but it i enjoyed it from start to finish and beyond.

    What i hate about this game is small map... you are limited to play whole game on "one island".
    On the other hand i liked the story.. typical pattern zero to hero.

    It's amazing how well this game has aged. It's outdated in the graphics, that's a fact, but in the rest, History, Details, Characters, Soundtrack... it's absolutely spectacular.
    Many of the details that makes the game more realistic, don't even exist in today's games (Open world games).

    The game isn't near the perfection but i can tell you that this game is very good and it is a must-play. The story is great, one of the the darkest ones if not the darkest in all GTA history, the dark/grey graphics fit very well the atmosphere and the story, the driving is not very realistic but it's way more realistic than on GTA V, and than it deserves an 8/10

    The game is decent at best this game definitely doesn't deserve to be considered the 3rd greasy game of all time and is judged out of pure nostalgia. the driving is ridiculously awful when it's supposed to be the keystone of the game. The story was dissopointing and the gameplay is sloppy and not fun.

    This is by far the best open-world game I have ever played. The story is straight-up breathtaking and the graphics are really good for the game is so old. Niko Bellic who is the main protagonist is also one of the best protagonists in all of GTA history.

I can't speak for other people, but in my opinion, it is the best GTA, the best game of 2008, the greatest game on the PS3, and I will not hesitate to say that this is the best game I have ever played in my life. It is that good. So let's talk about why.

    This game. Is amazing. It nails almost every aspect of it greatly. The story is great; it's in a not so steep competition for best GTA story. You play as Niko Belic of Yugoslavia (now Serbia), as he has just moved to America for a better life, escape from his former employer, and finding a man who double-crossed him 10 years ago. He lives with his older cousin, Roman Belic. As the story progresses, he meets several characters, some of which become his very good friends (Little Jacob, Packie, Dwayne, Brucie) and others, no so much (Vladimir, Dimitri, Mikhail.) The story involves completing missions for several of these characters, while the narrative keeps going. The overall tone of this game and its story is very dark and dreary, with some comedy sprinkled throughout. Liberty City (the city where this game takes place in) is basically portrayed as hell. Crime runs rampant, drugs and dealers run the streets, and death is practically everywhere. In the end, you find the man who betrayed Niko, and Dimitri Rascalov (along with a man named Jimmy Pegorino, depending on which side of the story you chose) betrays Niko, leading him to kill Dimitri (or Pegorino) in the final mission. What makes GTA IV impactful is that no matter which ending happens, you don't get a happy ending. One of Niko's closest is killed off (debatably at the peak of their relationship too) and the story ends with Niko trying to live a normal life, distancing himself from crime.

    Of course, when you're not playing the story, you can always just mess around and go off the story path. Running around in GTA IV's massive open world is a thrilling experience. There is plenty to do in the world. There are many little minigames to play including darts, pool, boating, and of course, bowling. You can also just walk around and kill people using GTA's controls. The controls in this game are excellence. It never feels like my controller refuses to work, or there is that one button on the controller that is completely worthless. Every button on the controller does something, and it does it justice. The movement is fluid. Walking around in the game might actually be easier in the game than in real life. And shooting is even easier, along with satisfying. Shooting is very easy to understand, and feels very good.

    Overall, this game is one of the best experiences in a lifetime. You need to give it a spin. 10/10    … Expand

    GTA IV. For me the best GTA ever made. The dark atmospheres of the streets of Liberty City, the American dream of Niko Bellic, The harsh reality, the soundtrack. Everything fell into place in this game.

    It is therefore not surprising that, years later, I can still evoke the feeling I had during my first playthrough.

    In short, a unique experience of the best GTA so far.

    Great world and tons of content. Great character in Belic, a hardened criminal without the glamour that is usually portrayed in films nowadays.

    Only negative is that pesky Roman insisting for a date.
