    I suspect this will be one of the first titles to take a price drop, so if this time of the year is really punishing your wallet, you might want to wait, but for those who never got to play GoldenEye on the N64 or even last year on the Wii, you can now finally experience a bit of gaming history, freshly wrapped in a next-gen package that is so challenging, so fun, and so addicting, you might have trouble deciding what to play when all those holiday titles start stacking up.

    Even with all of the overly nostalgic conciliations, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is a genuinely fun game in and of itself. Activision has made some incredibly intelligent decisions in their revision strategy (Daniel Craig is the first Bond actor who can believably kill a Russian since Sean Connery), but in the end, nostalgia just isn't a strong enough foundation to build a truly great game on.

    Technically, it should get a higher score than its Wii counterpart since its graphics are better, it has more content, and its online is more robust. However, I can't say that any of this actually makes the game any better, it just makes for more of it. More of an 8.5 is still an 8.5.

    The diversity and pacing is appreciated, the control is spot-on, the weapons are great, and the campaign is completely satisfying. The multiplayer is crazy entertaining and the Mi6 Ops mode adds plenty to the experience.

    Addictive multiplayer will keep you coming back for more, especially with all the different ways to play. Single player has its moments, but some rough edges (invisible walls and less-than-stellar AI) make the whole package suffer.

    Goldeneye 007: Reloaded is a fantastic trip down memory lane, as well as a very solid shooter in its own right. It controls well, the Bond universe is very much alive and kicking, and the reasonably-long and entertaining campaign is engaging. Though the online multiplayer is very average, split-screen multiplayer is as fun and rage-inducing as ever. If you're a fan of the Goldeneye series, or had any involvement with the original, you should definitely pick this one up.

    In the end, Goldeneye 007: Reloaded mirrors some of the best aspects of the N64 game and re-imagines them for the PlayStation 3 from its sturdy gaming engine to Bond-esq graphics.

    GoldenEye 007 has finally arrived on HD consoles. The story is not really new and the graphics aren't state of the art, but the multiplayer mode with all the local and online possibilities is really cool.

    Goldeneye's reputation was built on its stellar split-screen multiplayer, and Activision was smart enough to bring it back for this go around. As before, getting together a group of friends for a night of gunslinging is ridiculously fun, and the PS3 version even includes Hugo Drax with a Moonraker laser pistol as DLC (for those who purchase the game new) for some vintage Bond action.

    It just feels more personal when you run around with the colorful characters from the James Bond universe than your average grey marine. The singleplayer is also fairly entertaining and the multiplayer for up to 16 people is just awesome.

    GoldenEye 007: Reloaded brings the classic game into the modern world. Eurocom has done a fantastic job.

    It feels so refreshing to step out of army boots and into a tux, with GoldenEye providing a nice change from the norm. Despite not being the best FPS on the market, the game can easily stand tall and comes highly recommended for those suffering from an overdose of modern battlefields.

    GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is mostly unchanged from last year's Wii version, but it's still a fast and exciting shooter that doesn't rely on ancient memories to be great.

    Altogether, I was pleased with the game. It immediately jumps to the top of the Move pile and all of the small features add up into an impressive amount of content. It could have used a bit more polish but if you're a fan of 007 you can't do much better.

    They managed to create a game that doesn't ride on nostalgia alone by becoming GoldenEye 2.0, and they were able to create a modern day FPS that doesn't turn its back on its roots, which is, in all fairness, the saving grace of Reloaded – a game that won't disappoint new and old fans of the 007 franchise.

Where should I begin with the faults? Well, it's a typical Activision game: outdated graphics, short story and characters with no depth whatsoever. If you are a fan of the original Goldeneye on N64, do not buy this game because it will ruin the experience of the original forever. All the characters in this game have been modified which is weird because the game is supposed to be based on the movie. Another typical CoD clone for the mindless masses. A shame, because the name James Bond used to be a synonym for great game. I don't even know if I can complete this game because it's so boring.… Full Review »

    This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Being a big fan of James Bond films, I was eager to play a James Bond game that was good; unfortunately the game does not do that. The story of the game is a non-copyrighted storyline of the original Goldeneye movie. What I mean by this is that the game developers have done little adjustments in areas, such as the villain's deaths are different, there is no WW2 style train etc. The biggest difference is that in one mission, while driving a tank, the whole of St Petersburg looks like the apocalypse has just began.

    I like the fact that the game allows you to play as villains from the films

    Negatives
    Three/quarters of the game is using a mobile phone
    Graphics look poor in places
    When I was playing the game, I decided to do it on normal mode to get a feel for how difficult the game is. After completing the game (in one sitting), I only got a trophy for doing the game on easy so I had a look to see if the game had glitched. For some reason, the game had decided that in parts you will play on easy and in some you will play on normal
    There are a lot of glitches in the game, such as some guards can shoot you even though you are in an elevator, the main boss can dolphin dive through metal boxes etc

Although it does have some descent meat-&-potatoes style FPS action, it ultimately doesn't deliver. PS2 era graphics and gameplay are the most immediate faults that leap out at you. These are quickly followed by clumsy vehicle controls, stiff aiming sensitivity and a non-existent online community. On the FPS-lite Wii, Goldeneye007: Reloaded makes a lot of sense. On PS3, however, the game is ridiculously outgunned by it's competition.… Full Review »
