The thing we love most about Golden Eye is the split-screen multiplayer. You don't see this enough in shooters anymore. Luckily Eurocom can be counted on to deliver the goods: four people can fight it out on one screen at the same time in several exciting modes. [December 2011, p.64]

A good and entertaining shooter, although somewhat far from the best games in the genre. But the classy style of James Bond makes it special.

The biggest issue with Reloaded isn't in the game itself, but in the release date. [Jan 2012, p.80]

It is a title that takes advantage of its origins, but doesn't depend too much on nostalgia to win the interest of the player.

It looks like current low budget games, does not offer the intensity of Modern Warfare or very emotional moments but still provides simple, unpretentious old school fun. [December 2011, p.90]

A competent update of the updated cult classic from Rare, pushed out to die in the worst possible release window, almost guaranteeing it will go unnoticed by all but the most hardcore Bond fans. The single player campaign is polished and enjoyable, the multiplayer mode is a quick, frantic affair enjoyed either over internet or in a more limited four player split-screen locally. Easily the definitive GoldenEye-experience.

Like Bond himself, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is sharp and smart; a modern Bond game, as much about stealth and muscular take downs as gadgets and getting the girl. It doesn't always get it right: fire-fights could have been lifted from any other FPS, and level design can be on the linear side, but it's a strong outing for 007 and by far the best Bond on PS3.

Overall, I was actually pleasantly surprised by GoldenEye: Reloaded. There are enough nods to the source material to keep the game from being a complete derailment of the franchise, and while the multiplayer will never measure up to the original, it still has its English charms.

Considering all of the extras Eurocom added to Reloaded, I have no doubt the developer tried to make the definitive version of a modern day GoldenEye. However, I still feel like I would've been happier playing a $10 downloadable HD remake of the original game, similar to last year's XBLA release of Perfect Dark. GoldenEye 007: Reloaded still entertains, but stripped of its nostalgia, it fails to reach the status of an elite agent.

The remade, re-imagining of GoldenEye is a spot-on update for Bond fans who missed the Wii edition initially.

GR does little to rekindle your memory of the original Golden Eye. While there are some references to the original title, they aren't enough to make GR more than a mediocre title.

Goldeneye 007: Reloaded is a workmanlike game which does exactly what it says on the tin, but little more. Solid then, but utterly inessential, especially for those who have sampled the Wii iteration.

All the corridors of a Call of Duty, but none of the spectacular set pieces or solid gunplay. [Issue#213, p.88]

This remake doesn't stand up to the reputation of the classic Nintendo 64 shooter and that's a real shame. Disappointing visuals, incredibly sucky AI and frustratingly long loading times are the main bad guys here.
  15. In isolation, Reloaded is a serviceable Bond shooter – although there are better options out there. But when judged against its highly acclaimed ancestor, the kids are only just alright.

Not a total disaster, but we expected much more from it. Reloaded is a game that doesn't stand out in anything and will be easily forgotten in the most competitive genre of the gaming market.

A decent, if fairly by the numbers, port of the Wii game.

A serviceable shooter, but it lacks the spectacle of Call of Duty, the tactical options of Deus Ex or Crysis, and the urgency of FEAR. In their place it has, well, not much.

There are much better shooters on the market. It's time to hang up the cummerbund and bow tie and enjoy your martini with another game.

A remake of a remake, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded proves that it is almost impossible to do. The visuals and the artificial intelligence are extremely disappointing. The nostalgic multiplayer is one of the highlights, but you have to expect more from a game that carries the name 'GoldenEye'.

Reloaded is a game that doesn't do enough to win over gamers who never played the classic and for those who fell in love with this N64 classic, you might be better off wiping that dust off your old N64 console. The game feels like it was stuck in the middle of modernizing the experience too much and sticking true to the roots, opting to stay around the middle.

Where should I begin with the faults? Well, it's a typical Activision game: outdated graphics, short story and characters with no depth whatsoever. If you are a fan of the original Goldeneye on N64, do not buy this game because it will ruin the experience of the original forever. All the characters in this game have been modified which is weird because the game is supposed to be based on the movie. Another typical CoD clone for the mindless masses. A shame, because the name James Bond used to be a synonym for great game. I don't even know if I can complete this game because it's so boring. Full Review »

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Being a big fan of James Bond films, I was eager to play a James Bond game that was good; unfortunately the game does not do that. The story of the game is a non-copyrighted storyline of the original Goldeneye movie. What I mean by this is that the game developers have done little adjustments in areas, such as the villain's deaths are different, there is no WW2 style train etc. The biggest difference is that in one mission, while driving a tank, the whole of St Petersburg looks like the apocalypse has just began.
    Positives
I like the fact that the game allows you to play as villains from the films

    Negatives
Three/quarters of the game is using a mobile phone
    Graphics look poor in places
When I was playing the game, I decided to do it on normal mode to get a feel for how difficult the game is. After completing the game (in one sitting), I only got a trophy for doing the game on easy so I had a look to see if the game had glitched. For some reason, the game had decided that in parts you will play on easy and in some you will play on normal
There are a lot of glitches in the game, such as some guards can shoot you even though you are in an elevator, the main boss can dolphin dive through metal boxes etc
    The rating
    I have given Goldeneye 007: Reloaded a 4 out of 10

Although it does have some descent meat-&-potatoes style FPS action, it ultimately doesn't deliver. PS2 era graphics and gameplay are the most immediate faults that leap out at you. These are quickly followed by clumsy vehicle controls, stiff aiming sensitivity and a non-existent online community. On the FPS-lite Wii, Goldeneye007: Reloaded makes a lot of sense. On PS3, however, the game is ridiculously outgunned by it's competition. Full Review »
