This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Being a big fan of James Bond films, I was eager to play a James Bond game that was good; unfortunately the game does not do that. The story of the game is a non-copyrighted storyline of the original Goldeneye movie. What I mean by this is that the game developers have done little adjustments in areas, such as the villain's deaths are different, there is no WW2 style train etc. The biggest difference is that in one mission, while driving a tank, the whole of St Petersburg looks like the apocalypse has just began.
    Positives
I like the fact that the game allows you to play as villains from the films

    Negatives
Three/quarters of the game is using a mobile phone
    Graphics look poor in places
When I was playing the game, I decided to do it on normal mode to get a feel for how difficult the game is. After completing the game (in one sitting), I only got a trophy for doing the game on easy so I had a look to see if the game had glitched. For some reason, the game had decided that in parts you will play on easy and in some you will play on normal
There are a lot of glitches in the game, such as some guards can shoot you even though you are in an elevator, the main boss can dolphin dive through metal boxes etc

    I have given Goldeneye 007: Reloaded a 4 out of 10

I was pleased to see this was not simply a reskinning of the N64 Goldeneye game, but a remake in a present day setting with some welcome diversions from the N64 game's faithful adherence to the movie's story. The shooting mechanics are solid and there are plenty of weapons to play with, but the SMGs and assault rifles feel very samey. Bond's smart phone allows him to hack doors and turrets or take pictures to complete various secondary objectives. The level design is linear but there is often at least one alternate route through an area. You can go in guns blazing, sneak past, or a mix of both. For example, one level on a naval vessel allowed me to either burst through a door and face down several guards with an automated turret, sneak through a side entrance and evade patrols, or crawl through an air duct, hack the turret, and watch it massacre the guards. It's refreshing to see an otherwise linear shooter with a cinematic flair allow for a bit of player choice. The game is a decent length similar to the original N64 game, but there is little in the way of replayability. There is a difficulty setting where your health does not regenerate and you must manage armor, and outside of the MI6 missions (think Call of Duty SpecOps), the competitive multiplayer mode is rather weak. While it's not yet difficult to find a game, lag is ever present, and the game seems to suffer from framerate hiccups in large matches despite the singleplayer portions having no such issues. Buy this game if you are a FPS or Bond fanatic. Otherwise, don't expect lasting appeal. Expand

I made an account to keep people from buying this game. Where should I begin with the faults? All the characters in this game have been modified which is weird because the game is supposed to be based on the movie. Another typical CoD clone for the mindless masses. A shame, because the name James Bond used to be a synonym for great game. I don't even know if I can complete this game because it's so boring. Expand

I hate this game. From the first few hours of playing it I wanted to turn it back in to gamestop. If you a fan of the old 007 golden eye game do not get this one. Its nothing like the old one and online to this game isnt fun at all. Its actually kind of bored. The storyline is okay but I dislike the style of playing for this game. AVoid this game

Was not impressed from what I saw the game did not deliver in the multiplayer as was remembered from the Nintendo 64. The lagging made it hard to enjoy I'm a James bond fan but I'd rather play quantum of solace .

Everywhere I read there was supposed to be a good mutiplayer in this. So I bought it to play with my friends. But where is the multiplayer? Where is the co-op? Nowhere to be found.

Goldeneye was great at N64 and was good at wii. But on PS3 it is difficult to find a online game, it seems everybody is playing COD.

I enjoyed a lot two years ago on wii and there were lots of people playing online. On PS3 I feel alone trying to match online games

Bummer. The character models look a little weird too. Bond himself looks good but all the others look like they could have been pulled from a Gamecube game. Then again considering that this was a remastered port of a game made for the non-HD Wii, that's entirely possible. Good thing though: lots or replay value in the form of multiplayer, Mi6 ops, and tons of modifiers and cheats to customize gameplay. Expand

This remade version of the N64 classic is awesome! Eurocom definitely new what Goldeneye was and how to turn into a 21st century game that actually feels like a real remake of Goldeneye 007 for the N64! I wish they couldve added the classic Goldeneye in HD with this game, 'cause its worth it!

The original Goldeneye is a masterpiece of gaming and will go down as one of the greatest shooters of all time. This game? This game is a generic Call of Duty-esque cover shooter that fails to be Goldeneye and is a slap in the face to the original game. This game will never live up to Goldeneye and really should just be it's own thing.

Mi6 mode is a good addition for people who are into that kind of thing, but modes like that never really interest me, and it's disappointing that you can't play through them cooperatively. By far the best addition to this game that makes it better than the Wii port are the controls, they don't suck this time around. The single player is fun and offers a re-imagined version of the Goldeneye movie plot better suited for Daniel Craig's interpretation of the Bond character, however the campaign does suffer from some pitfalls, it's at it's best when your sneaking through levels taking out enemies stealthily, but suffers when the flood the screen with enemies and give you limited cover during on of the games frustrating sections, luckily those sections are few and far between. The multiplayer borrows from the Call of Duty series, but manages to feel like it's own unique experience. As a matter of a fact that's something you can say about the whole game. All in all it's a great game that does suffers from pitfalls but if your a Bond fan this is a good purchase. Expand

I don't know what was supposed to be reloaded in this game, but if this was supposed to be an improvement over a previous game, then I am frightened to see its source material. GoldenEye 007 Reloaded as all of the elements to be a great Bond game. The controls are surprisingly spot on and all of the missions seem pretty well-thought out. But there are so many things wrong with the game; sometimes it's annoying to play, other times its downright unplayable. The voice work is awful, and it is obvious that both Craig and Dench were forced by their companies to act this out and tried to phone their performances in as best as possible, ending up with robotic voice overs that seriously impact your sense of immersion. The gameplay is faulty in many areas other than the gunplay. Awkward grenade indicators cause extreme confusion and lead to countless unnecessary deaths. In addition, the level design is extremely poor, either holding your hand along the yellow brick road, or placing you in a war zone against hundreds of enemies. One level I had to give up on because I died ten times in a row. Ten times. The level provided no sufficient cover, and every time I tried to hide and regain health, I was greeted with an onslaught of unavoidable grenades which caused a truck, which was the only possible cover, to explode, instantly killing me. On top of this, the game is unbelievably repetitive, making you feel like you're playing the same level over again with a different backdrop to hide its similarities. But perhaps the game's greatest fault is that I never felt like James Bond. Unlike Uncharted 2, which allows you to play though incredible scenarios, GoldenEye plays its most exciting moments in cutscenes, forcing the player to take a backseat while the real Bond does all the dirty work. This is a monumental letdown and a testament to the wasted potential that this game has to offer. In short, the target is in sight but there's no way to reach it. The good Bond game is there and I love the polished controls and some gunfights. But the repetitiveness, lack of immersion, and infuriating gameplay segments cause 007 to fail the mission and never truly reach his potential. Agent down.

There is nothing special about this game. I experienced nothing new. Just another FPS. Almost nothing that felt like a James Bond experience. Making Bond games as CoD clones perplexes me. Sure he needs to get into a gun fight

Making Bond games as CoD clones perplexes me. Sure he needs to get into a gun fight every now and then but it's also about detective work, cool gadgets, exotic location and fast cars. I don't recall any of that existing in this game.

I find it funny some hard core fans of the original title complain that they replaced Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig. But the thing is you only see Daniel Craig's face one, maybe twice, and there is almost no voice acting.

I hope someday some developer will give the Bond IP the proper love it deserves, like how they did with the Batman Arkham series.

Meh 5/10 very very very mediocre.
The first one for PS2 was a f*cking million times better, though I absolutely LOVE the gloves (yeah I'm a sucker for characters wearing gloves in FPS) and the stealth takedowns with a chop to the throat.

Story: you know it , i know it , Activision dose not understand it . this story is told with about as much clunk as it plays. if you really want to experience the story of golden eye then why are you playing the games ? watch the film its good , very good alright . ight what eves the story is about james and his co worker saving the world but OH NO 006 is shot and killed ( in the movie he is played by Sean bean so is that a surprise ? ) WAIT why is 006 jason statham but a bbq dad ? same reason James is craig and not brosnan, well oh no some crazy russian lady who id 100% let crush me with her thighs plot twist 006 is still alive and thats his murderous gf , so james being an upstanding human being and British citizen he murders them , oh yeah and something about destroying the economy of the world with a super lazer , third time experiencing this story feels dumb especialy when its been done better TWICE
    Story: 4/10

World building: while i appreciate this is one of the few bond story's with another 00 agent , everything or nothing is the only other game to feature one , but most james bond story's are episodic and don't have much to do with one another so the world building is pretty null and void but at least James has co workers
    worldbuilding: 3/10

    graphics: 3/10

Gameplay : this game plays like call of duty with gadgets occasionally breaking up the monotony of average gun play and clunky walking , this is for sure the best part of the game but its just so average and mindless it becomes boring , even though they recreate missions from 64 but in 64 the guns felt fun , the feed back crisp , here it feels like a ps2 game just figuring out how to use its sound design
    Gameplay5/10

Sound design: you got the main theme witch is never not good but besides that nothing memorable in the music department, and i was thoroughly unimpressed by the sound affects. witch i don't think is eurocoms fault as the afore mentioned nightfire had amazing sound affects, this game feels like 40% of the staff at euro worked on this , witch is probably fairly accurate as activision is a very time crunchy company like ea
