This one's done by DIMPS again, and I expected a lot more from them. As with each Dragonball game, for each new improvement, something else is changed or removed which drastically changes the standards by which a fighting game is measured. I will go into detail about this later. But first I want to say that I like the general idea of the game. As with each Dragonball game, for each new improvement, something else is changed or removed which drastically changes the standards by which a fighting game is measured. I will go into detail about this later. But first I want to say that I like the general idea of the game. Competing against other players online in matches up to 3 players is a fighter's dream. Playing cooperatively with friends and other players in missions called Parallel Quests or PQs is also very fun. You can also customize your custom characters appearance with quest rewards or store bought items which adds a bit of flavor to the game. The soundtrack is very good. However, there are some very notable and disappointing setbacks that the game suffers from. During battle with other players, or in co-op mode, there is a significant drop in frame rate on the PS3. This is extremely irritating at times and really hampers the gameplay. At this time, there is nothing that can be done to fix this because of hardware limitations on the PS3. The only other thing you can do is buy a PS4, but I won't do that since you have to shell out $400 to buy the hunk of junk, then purchase Playstation Plus in order to play online each year. Server stability is also low, with low population caps, frequent boots to log-in selection screen, or just not being to log in at all. Namco Bandai is aware of the problems and hopefully they will fix that. Now back to the fighting standards. The 2D Dragonball games like Budokai 3, Burst Limit, and Shin Budokai another road had a pretty good combat system in my opinion. You could create any number of punch and kick combinations using the square and triangle buttons on the PS3 to create an infinite number of combos. That system has returned in XV, although not as good as Budokai 3 or Burst Limit, but still far better than the shallow and meaningless button mashing of Tenkaichi 3 and Raging Blast. It's not without its faults though and I'll give a few examples. The non-custom characters such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo etc, all have their skills preset and you can't change them. Super Saiyan has to be assigned to and Ultimate Attack Slot and Kaioken has to be assigned to a Super Attack slot. Some of the preset characters have two Ultimate Attacks equipped in their slots, some have one assigned, and some have none at all. This is irritating because if you love the DBZ characters like I do, you are stuck with their preset skills and can't change them like in Budokai 3, Raging Blast, or Burst Limit. For some reason, they decided characters like Cell and Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta will not transform, so they have two Ultimate Attacks. For example, Cell has Super Kamehameha, and Super Spirit Bomb. Now let's say I wanted to use Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Remember that Super Saiyan 3 has to be equipped in an Ultimate Attacks slot and can't be changed. So he gets one Ultimate Attack, Super Kamehameha or Super Spirit Bomb depending on what Goku you pick. Another problem is that transformations drain your Ki. You can equip a skill called Energy Charge in different degrees to compensate for that. Energy Charge, Full Power Charge, and Maximum Charge. The problem is that they didn't give any Energy Charge to some versions of characters that transform making it impossible to maintain Super Saiyan. Kaioken, unlike Super Saiyan uses stamina instead of Ki. Your stamina is used to block attacks, fly around, or use defensive skills. This makes Kaioken virtually useless in 1v1 fights because it drains your stamina quickly The other problem is that you level up a character like in an RPG. Each level you get points to assign to the following attributes, Health, Ki, Stamina, Basic Attack, Strike Attack, and Ki Blast Supers. Some characters, like Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta were given a very low amount of Ki. This makes their Super Saiyan state hard to maintain and limits their number of attacks. Therefore, the characters aren't balanced like they were in other DBZ games. The other thing I think the devs could have done is pay better attention to detail. Super Attacks like Special Beam Cannon look great but it doesn't work well in PVP because it's too slow and misses quite often. Other moves like Death Ball can just be spammed over and over and easily connect. Some of my favorite attacks, like Light Grenade, look plain awful and not much thought was put into the detail of the the attack like other DBZ games. For example, Light Grenade looks awesome in Burst Limit and Raging Blast, but it looks more like a regular Ki Blast in XV. Targeting reticles, orbs that fly out of players when being hit, and command menu add visual pollution. The voice acting is awful. One voice sounds like they paid a black kid to do it. Overall, the game is very beautiful and visually appealing as with any DIMPS DBZ game. It's very unfortunate that the game has frame rate drop, balance issues, and server connectivity issues… Expand
