Should've been sold for 10$ on release since that's probably the amount they spent to optimize it for last gen. Makes no sense to have tree physics enabled when character's clothing textures look 64x64.

I prefer "Dragon dogma" where character is more punchy and graphics are more uniform (but with a -very- smaller map)... BUT this game is addictive when, alone on splendid landscape, you discover quests, monsters or secrets ways. Plus, you have your own actions and actions made by the inquisition, this, give to the game a wider politician view. It's a mix between Dragon dogma (gameplay) and Skyrim (world, music and faction). i gave to the game 5 at the begining.... and 8,5 after 115h. Expand

Very few spells, mediocre story and character development, combat is fast paced and not tactical anymore. This game has lost everything that defined the first Dragon Age game. This game is even worse than Dragon Age 2. It has, however, reasonable graphics, and a very large world. It has many things to do, but they are rarely entertaining because combat isn't fun anymore.

Si bien me encontré con bastantes bugs, este juego es sencillamente épico. El mapa, los personajes, la historia, el combate, todo es buenísimo para este juego que, justamente, es un GOTY.

I love the series however, the game stoped working after several weeks of play on my PS3 and wouldn't load. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bioware rightfully made the best fantasy game only beat by Skyrim. The real draw of this game is Character customization, choices, and discovery. I always love creating a female character and this game doesn't disappoint in that respect unlike Fallout 4 for example. Inquisition still has the best dialogue system and the most decisions out of modern games. So the only competition in that respect is between well, previous Bioware titles and Telltale Games. However, most choices don't have a big enough impact. No matter who you choose, Templars or Mages, you'll still have to defend Haven from the forgettable villain. I understand that part is critical to the story but Bioware has given much more weight to choices in the Mass Effect series
. But Skyhold really is a big improvement over the Normandy. The world is plenty big and the highlights visually are the houses in the Emerald Graves, the Eleven temple in the end, and the sand dunes of the Western Approach(beat Elder Scrolls to the punch). Due to the leveling and weapon damage system, enemies had to have large health bars to make the former mechanics work. There is no point in getting a better weapon if the Red Templars succumb to one or two hits. This makes encounters long and less fun. Dragons take so long to kill.
Only at the end does the story get intriguing. This is mostly thanks to Morigan(who I kept thinking was the villain due to the reveal trailer) and the Elvin lore.Since that I was eager to make progress in the game, I skipped most of the cutscenes, dialogue, and books;something I usually don't do.It ended up cutting my playthrough in half(about 50 hours instead of the average 100+)
In a world where Gods and magic exist, religion stills gets thing wrong. Something I only realized towards the end. Not that they were morally wrong(the chantry is clearly the old christian church and a lot of it draws inspiration from the real world) but that it's not certain who these gods were as Mythal turns out not to be an Elvin god but Morigan's Immortal human mother. And there isn't proof of the maker or the Old Gods existence. The only interesting part of Coryriphius (spelled wrong) was when he mentions that the thrones in the heavens were empty. That mystery definitely will be explained in future games.
The end seems to point towards a Grey Warden civil war being a plot point for DAV. It really sucks that EA most likely took the real ending and released it as the Trespasser DLC only for current-gen. That will probably stop me from playing it as I played it on the 360 and will likely get a PS4.
So the near future for Bioware is Andromeda. Something that is taking far too long to make. Is it going through development hell? Almost. Bioware is trying to make a far more ambitious game than Mass Effect 3. But here's the problem. This is in terms of content, not substance. Clearly the scale of this game is whats being built upon. And in my opinion thats a bad thing. Inquisition would have been significantly better in terms of story, pacing, and level design if Bioware didn't try to compete with the sheer size of Skyrim. Either way, I'm almost certain that Andromeda will be a great game:)

The soundtrack is beautiful, the voice acting is excellent, the only dissapointment was the final fight with the main antagonist. But even if the journey was more interesting than the destination, it was still worth every penny I gave for this game. As of now dragon age inquisition don't have the bug it had at the beginning and most of those problems are behind us.

It feels like Dragon Age II combined with a poor imitation of Skyrim. The story would have been more interesting if the main quests weren't so spread out. Most of the side quests aren't really interesting on their own or relevant to the story but I have to complete some of them anyway to earn more Power so that I can get back to the main story.

One of the main issues with DA2 were the re-used environments but Dragon Age: Inquisition has a different problem. Many of the areas are now so big that the rest of the game can't keep up. There's just not enough interesting things in these areas. Once you've seen 25% of the Hinterlands you've seen it all.

The party members are all interesting in one way or another. However there seems to be a bug that stops banter between party members from triggering. This meant most of the random conversations they had with each other while travelling didn't happen in my experience.

Another change in DA:I is that there is no longer any music outside of the main quests. So battles and travelling around now occur in silence with the exception of the various combat sound effects. Auto-attack is also gone and the Tactics system from the first two games has been reduced to only a handful of options.

It's not a bad game but to me it feels like it only won so many Game of the Year awards due to a lack of competition at the time from other games in the same genre. It seems like the Dragon Age series is trying to get as far away as possible from the things that made the first DA game a good single-player RPG. DA:I should have focused on the strong points of the series rather than trying to be more like other games.

I see that the PS3 version of this game is getting very mixed reviews, with people either rating it very high or very low. I wanted to weigh in to help people who haven't made the transition to the new gen systems with their decision about buying this game.

First, I will point out the negatives of the game. Obviously, the graphics are no where near as strong as the new gen versions.

That being said, I still really enjoy the art direction in the game and I found myself still feeling very immersed in the world of Thedas. I would say that the reduce graphics in the game are not a deal breaker if you are more about story and gameplay than graphics.

I have had the game freeze up on me a few times. I have put about 25 hours into the game thus far and it has frozen up on me about six times. It is annoying and frustrating, but it is also something that is not uncommon for a PS3 open-world rpg. During the majority of my playing sessions, though, I have had few technical issues.

Now for the positive. The game is huge. There is a ton to do and explore. I have found all of the areas in the game to be interesting and full of enjoyable quests, as well as having lots of things to find through exploration.

I have really enjoyed the story of the game thus far. The breadth of side quests can cause you to easily ignore the main story for long periods of time, which can make it feel a bit disjointed. I have found that I really enjoy exploring the relationships with my companions and doing the side quests related to each of them. Getting to know all of them really enriches the experience of the main story, in my opinion. It makes you care more about the events in the game.

The combat is also very enjoyable. I like that it brings back some of the tactical elements of Dragon Age Origins, while maintaining the more frantic pacing of Dragon Age II battles. The one thing that I have found a little annoying is the mixture of leveled enemies in each area. It is frustrating to be wandering through an area, easily dispatching enemies at a lower or equal level to you, and then suddenly coming across enemies several levels higher than you. This has caused me to flee in terror from more fights that I care to share.

Dragon Age Inquisition is certainly not a perfect experience on the PS3, I will be honest. However, I have found that I am able to overlook some of the technical and graphical issues to see the solid game at its core. I am a more casual, adult gamer, who has yet to upgrade to the current gen systems. I have found that the game has more than met my needs and I do recommend it to other longtime Dragon Age fans.

I've actually been out of the gaming world for a few years now, but I recently gained access to a PS3 so I figured I'd pick up the latest installment. I knew this game had launched for current-gen and PC but saw a PS3 version at a local game store and picked it up. Now I've been a Bioware fan for years; I've played Baulder's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire, every Mass Effect game (for some reason), and DA:O. I saw PS4 gameplay of this game and figured it would be worth a shot, and after about 35 hours in I am regretting my decision; seeing as how I can't return it for a full refund.

Before I get into my gripes with the game, I will say that the story and plot are overall pretty good and are easily the game's strongest point. There is A LOT of stuff going on here: opposing and bickering forces, a new foe to face, tons of lore to read, and a few interesting characters. I also really like the weapon/armor crafting system this game offers, it allows you to make some pretty amazing gear virtually anytime you can. The open world aspect and search function are nice and executed somewhat well, but those alone won't rise it from the depths it has fallen.

This particular port of the game is without a doubt A COMPLETE DISGRACE AND ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!

    - The visuals are well below average and make the game look like it was released in 2006. Now as an RPG fan, I'm well aware that visuals/graphics alone don't make a game but this is just shameful. Objects constantly pop in and out, textures take a long while to fully load, attacks/character effects just blur together, character animations in cut scenes often fail to load completely, and environmental effects look disgusting; the trees in MGS3 Snake Eater look more polished than this!

    - The gameplay is loaded with bugs that constantly impede your enjoyment of the game. Characters/NPCs appear and jump all over the place, you are constantly seeing your legs fall through the floor, basic dialog interactions with NPCs will sometimes just not work forcing you to mash the X button repeatedly until you can talk to them, it has a seemingly permanent ultra-lag effect in the Desert Oasis that causes the game to move at roughly 1 fps (seriously, 1 fps) and after three months STILL HASN'T BEEN PATCHED SO IT MAKES THAT REGION COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE, and the game has frozen on me three times now. I know there are many more I am forgetting to mention but so be it.

    - The combat is completely broken, boring, and makes the game way too easy. It feels like they were trying to expose this franchise to other markets but hardcore RPG fans will be disappointed. It is extremely clunky and incredibly buggy. Dishing out commands to your allies is poorly done and they barely listen to you, especially since the "Tactics" menu is a complete joke as you have hardly any say in what they do. This franchise has been turned into an ARPG, with literally no tactics involved. Just hold R2 to attack and you've killed everything; hooray. It can be enjoyable at times, but it's very unsatisfactory because you don't feel like you're doing anything.

    - Quests are dull, tedious, and extremely repetitive. Everything is a fetch quest or "take this item and place it over here". It feels like I'm playing an MMO because every quest is the same time-consuming affair. And every region contains mostly the same quests, literally. There's one for seeing all locations, one for reaching all landmarks, one for collecting all of a certain object, one for closing all enemy rifts, etc. It just wastes so much time and makes you feel like you're not doing anything interesting.

    - The War Table where you progress the story and accept missions is a nice feature but falls flat. Most of the side missions you are given to do offer incredibly poor rewards and it always feels like a waste of time as you are constantly deciding which person to want to send on what mission and after careful planning you receive a meager 100 gold; I'm so thrilled I can hardly contain myself.

Now some minor things that annoyed me: You can't switch any of your controls around, so I hope you like clicking L3 because you'll be doing that a lot by using the search function which shows you the locations of items (herbs, loot, metal ore) on your mini map. This is a nice feature but if you're like me you like to collect everything in sight and tat takes up a considerable amount of time. Every time, EVERY TIME you decide to pick up something your character stops, kneels down, and picks it up. Doesn't sound bad but you will likely spend 20-30% of your time in maps just picking up stuff; it really bogged down gameplay and wore me out.

Overall, the game can be fun at times but all of the issues within it just ruin anything good here. Anyone giving this game anything higher than a 7 are, in my opinion, completely delusional.

I actually liked most of my companions and the opportunities to talk with them and others in the world. Though, considering how long playthroughs can take on this game, you can run out of new conversations with your companions far too quickly after each major world event. There are some amazing places to explore, and some of the screencaps for the game are quite beautiful.

Sadly, on the PS3, some of the beautiful graphics my friends have shared in pictures and vids just aren't there. I couldn't look at a character in the game or a landscape and mistake it for anything but a video game, unlike those with PC, XBox One, or PS4. And I expected that, given I'm on an older system. There are also a lot of graphics bugs, even the occasional blocky character that makes me think I've picked up an original PS game and Crash Bandicoot or Spyro would be making an appearance.

Unfortunately, I'm a completionist, and this game is a completionist's nightmare. It's been said in other reviews, but after finishing the game with dozens of simple fetch/find quests under my belt, I felt like Bioware hadn't really respected my time by offering interesting quests to fill in the space between the plot.

I am not a diehard fan of Skyrim (though also find it to be a good, if not great, game). I frequently get bored with the game only to pick it up again a month or so later, but I can give that game credit for giving lots of interesting side quests. Sure, there are plenty of fetch quests, but it also provides you with interesting dungeons, dealings with that world's gods, a drunken night you must piece together "Hangover" style, and guild quests to allow you to really roleplay your character outside of the main plot. So many of the quests that did not relate to the plot or to my companions in Inquisition were forgettable or, worse yet, memorable for being annoying, like scouring a region for that 12th mosaic piece only to find out that your only reward was a codex entry and minimal experience.

I love Dragon Age: Origins and even respected a lot of Dragon Age 2, though that game could have been a few thousand of times better with another year's development. Extra development might have gotten us some other environments rather than reusing the same areas over and over. So, I felt Inquisition was pretty mediocre in comparison to its predecessors.

I have played every possible outcome in both Origins and 2, and immediately after I finished each for the first time, I wanted to start up a new game, and often did as soon as the credits closed. When Inquisition ended and I thought about the questlines that had bugged that I never got to do (Dorian's personal quests in particular, which I have been told are some of the best companion quests), the bugged trophy that is keeping me from a complete set, and the fact that to complete these things will require starting over... I groaned. I wasn't excited to play again with a qunari mage or dwarf rogue rather than a human warrior to see how different it makes the game like I did with Origins or even the different classes/genders in 2.

And for someone who buys few games but repeatedly plays the ones she has... that's a problem.

I want to love this game, but I just don't. And from any other company but Bioware, I would be a little less harsh on it Unfortunately, they've set the bar so high that it's maybe too much to live up to.

One of the best games for ps3. I don't understand why the reviews of this game for ps3 system are so low... I played as a human rogue and i absolutely loved the game, the story was real good (leliana, morrigan, hawke are back :D ), it was interesting to see the evolution of the inquisition and the relationshiop between the inquisitor and his companions. The best thing of this game for me it was the explorations, the game has 10 GIANT areas, where there are plenty of things to do. The combat was also amazing i always used the 2 cameras, the tactical camera to send orders to my companions and then i changed to the "personal" camera with my inquisitor to see the suffering of my enemies more closely. The subclasses are also very good (the tempest is epic). The graphics are also very good, of course the next gen versions have better graphics, but that was obvious from the start, areas like fallow mire, emprise du lion, or hissing wastes look gorgeus on the ps3 version, the unique area where the ambients could have been improved on the ps3 version was hinterlands, the first area. The scores isn't a 10 because there are some cutscenes where textures pop in after a few seconds, but still the game is really good, even on old gen versions, do not be afraid to purchase the ps3 version of this game ;) Expand

It's much more open world then the last and gives you fairly big ares to explore with your party. The combat is a great mix of fast paced action and strategic planning, with some fights forcing you to quickly change who your playing or send out orders. The amount of dialog between characters is astonishing and there is multiple ways most situations can play out and endings to the game itself. You'll find yourself playing through more then once just to see how it all can end.
The Multi-player feature to this game is amazing and I find it very fun even more if you have friends to play with. The game-play in Multi-player reminds me of the Baldur's Gate series which I also enjoy a fair amount.
Any fan of RPG's or the Dragon Age Series should take the time to play this installment of the franchise and experience it's story telling and vast world for yourself. Don't forget about "DragonAgeKeep.com" witch allows you to build a background story to Inquisition and shape the world you play in.

I can honestly say I've never been so disappointed in a game. This thing no longer bears any resemblance to Dragon Age Origins. Where do I even begin?

It's pretty obvious the devs feel so very proud of themselves for their new engine and "open world" gameplay. And you know what? It resembles an MMO perfectly: tedious, boring grinding and fetch quests. There's so many it's practically a joke. If you play this game, this is 90% of what you do. It's every bit as tedious and boring and it seems. I've seen many people claim that the game magically becomes much better after you invest the ludicrous sum of 20 hours into the game. I'll tell you straight up: it doesn't. They try to throw a bunch of crap in your face to try and distract from it, but it's sure as hell still there.

I have my gripes with the combat as well. Of course, there's no auto-attack. The tactical camera is almost worthless since micromanaging your team has been disemboweled. No longer can you stack commands and control every detail. Instead you can marvel at your teammates teleporting next to you and mages running into melee range. I played a 2H warrior, and it was honestly completely boring. Battles only really come in two flavors: ones that require no thought, but go on forever because they have ludicrous amounts of health, or battles in which you die instantly because the game makes no attempt to communicate enemy levels to you. Limiting potions seems to be a decision made solely to leash you and force you back to a camp all too often. It's hardly even worth mentioning how worthless the AI is in the game either.

Graphically is where this game surprised me the most, by not surprising me in the least. They were pretty clearly pumping this up to be something huge, but it looks awful on previous generation consoles. Both of the previous games looked far better.

The biggest issue of all is the optimization. This game is beyond broken. Over my 25 hours of play, I experienced countless freezes, more graphical glitches than you can shake a stick at and all kinds of wild and wacky bugs. Facial textures seem to often fail to load, and pop-in is horrendously slow, often only catching up near the end of cutscene. Slowdown is a very common occurrence as well. It really is a marvel of poor programming.

The story is choppy at best. Most of it a fairly bland affair, but the characters get a few glimmers of interest here and there. However, it's only enough to make you hope you were playing a better game. Wholly, the characters just aren't very interesting or likeable. In general they'll be fairly one-note the entire game.

The Dragon Age series deserved better. I can only hope that it'll be left to rest in peace, but given the slavemasters in control of the IP, we can expect to see it die a slow painful death as they wring every last penny out of it's once good name.

Wow, the people giving the PS3 version of this high scores must work for Bioware or EA. No one is exaggerating how watered down the graphics are for the PS3. I tried playing through my disgust but today I returned the game and got The Stick of Truth which is all ready a lot better. It's a shame because I wanted to get know the cute character I had created (that why it gets a 2) but sadly I had to leave her. If you really think this game is for you, wait and get it for PS4 it might be worth a try. If you think you can handle glossy skin and armour, npc that look like there straight out of PS1, and half rendered backgrounds, good luck! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I seriously don't understand why people are giving this game poor ratings. Bioware released two patches to fix issues on the consoles and on the PC, so please try them and see how you like it. I haven't had one single issue since playing on PS3. This game is huge and by huge I mean lots of areas to explore, lots of side quests, etc. I am currently just in the Hitherlands area and I'm taking my time, and I can tell you Ive put so many hours into this game and I haven't even completed all side quests. There must be hundreds of sidequests in this game. I like the way everything is set. Characters are easy to control and equip, upgrades, etc. Since playing on ps3, I've seen the graphics look very realistic, haven't noticed any glitches in this game yet. All the complaining people should download the two latest patches and try again. You won't be disappointed. This game looks realistic and so do the characters. The fighting is awesome. This game is a lot harder than the previous two games. This game also combines everything into one from the previous two games. You feel like you're playing the first one because you travel all over the wilderness fighting bears and yes bears will attack you, and you feel like youre playing the second one a bit, so it just combines everything from the first two. I'm having fun completing side quests. I don't know whether or not I will find everything I need to complete them because the environment is very huge! Thanks bioware, looking for some cool DLC Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played Origins and DA2 and liked both because the characters were interesting and the story was good.
There is no story in Inquisition. It is unfathomable how boring they made it, I really tried to like it. I'm on my fifth play through and have only had one laugh in all the play throughs so far. Part of what I liked about the other 2 games was their comedy.
Hawke is a snarling and sneering mess in this game. Varric has zero personality left, his story with Bianca doesn't even make me curious its so badly done. The only character remotely interesting is Solas. Cullen has some good scenes but truly uninspired by the lack of depth in all the characters.
