I prefer "Dragon dogma" where character is more punchy and graphics are more uniform (but with a -very- smaller map)... BUT this game is addictive when, alone on splendid landscape, you discover quests, monsters or secrets ways. Plus, you have your own actions and actions made by the inquisition, this, give to the game a wider politician view. It's a mix between Dragon dogma (gameplay) and Skyrim (world, music and faction). i gave to the game 5 at the begining.... and 8,5 after 115h. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bioware rightfully made the best fantasy game only beat by Skyrim. The real draw of this game is Character customization, choices, and discovery. I always love creating a female character and this game doesn't disappoint in that respect unlike Fallout 4 for example. Inquisition still has the best dialogue system and the most decisions out of modern games. So the only competition in that respect is between well, previous Bioware titles and Telltale Games. However, most choices don't have a big enough impact. No matter who you choose, Templars or Mages, you'll still have to defend Haven from the forgettable villain. I understand that part is critical to the story but Bioware has given much more weight to choices in the Mass Effect series
. But Skyhold really is a big improvement over the Normandy. The world is plenty big and the highlights visually are the houses in the Emerald Graves, the Eleven temple in the end, and the sand dunes of the Western Approach(beat Elder Scrolls to the punch). Due to the leveling and weapon damage system, enemies had to have large health bars to make the former mechanics work. There is no point in getting a better weapon if the Red Templars succumb to one or two hits. This makes encounters long and less fun. Dragons take so long to kill.
Only at the end does the story get intriguing. This is mostly thanks to Morigan(who I kept thinking was the villain due to the reveal trailer) and the Elvin lore.Since that I was eager to make progress in the game, I skipped most of the cutscenes, dialogue, and books;something I usually don't do.It ended up cutting my playthrough in half(about 50 hours instead of the average 100+)
In a world where Gods and magic exist, religion stills gets thing wrong. Something I only realized towards the end. Not that they were morally wrong(the chantry is clearly the old christian church and a lot of it draws inspiration from the real world) but that it's not certain who these gods were as Mythal turns out not to be an Elvin god but Morigan's Immortal human mother. And there isn't proof of the maker or the Old Gods existence. The only interesting part of Coryriphius (spelled wrong) was when he mentions that the thrones in the heavens were empty. That mystery definitely will be explained in future games.
The end seems to point towards a Grey Warden civil war being a plot point for DAV. It really sucks that EA most likely took the real ending and released it as the Trespasser DLC only for current-gen. That will probably stop me from playing it as I played it on the 360 and will likely get a PS4.
So the near future for Bioware is Andromeda. Something that is taking far too long to make. Is it going through development hell? Almost. Bioware is trying to make a far more ambitious game than Mass Effect 3. But here's the problem. This is in terms of content, not substance. Clearly the scale of this game is whats being built upon. And in my opinion thats a bad thing. Inquisition would have been significantly better in terms of story, pacing, and level design if Bioware didn't try to compete with the sheer size of Skyrim. Either way, I'm almost certain that Andromeda will be a great game:)

The best thing of this game for me it was the explorations, the game has 10 GIANT areas, where there are plenty of things to do. The combat was also amazing i always used the 2 cameras, the tactical camera to send orders to my companions and then i changed to the "personal" camera with my inquisitor to see the suffering of my enemies more closely. The subclasses are also very good (the tempest is epic). The graphics are also very good, of course the next gen versions have better graphics, but that was obvious from the start, areas like fallow mire, emprise du lion, or hissing wastes look gorgeus on the ps3 version, the unique area where the ambients could have been improved on the ps3 version was hinterlands, the first area. The scores isn't a 10 because there are some cutscenes where textures pop in after a few seconds, but still the game is really good, even on old gen versions, do not be afraid to purchase the ps3 version of this game ;) Expand

The overhead tactical is very welcome, though disappointing that you have a clear required distance before you're capable of availing of it for attacks with ranged characters. Happy you're not forced to choose a certain race character. My only issue is with on-line use. The game can drop framerates, and get a bit unreliable if you're playing online as the game constantly attempts to access the Keep. It would be nice if Bioware had made Keep access occur only on saving so as not to interfere with gameplay.

That said however, this game is a fantastic game and well worth the expense, with the caveat that this game is far more open-world RPG than it's predecessors meaning that if you don't like walking and exploring or collecting, this game is likely not for you. If you're a completionist who really enjoys as much game for their money as possible, this is a perfect game for you. If you're an RPG enthusiast this is a prime purchase with hours and hours of entertainment.

It's graphically quite beautiful, and the exploration plus both forms of combat really open the game up. I like using both combat systems, and while the level designs were lacking on DA:2, I was one of the people that loved that game (so you know where I'm coming from), mostly because the combat for playing a rogue was much improved upon Origins' terrible AI movement.

I was actually surprised by how quickly the story and motivations pulled me into this game. I shouldn't have been; BioWare is fantastic when it comes to characterization and story. Regardless, this game achieves one of those very hard things to do that so many other games I play fail at: it makes me forget I'm playing a game. I'm so absorbed in every aspect of it. It's completely engrossing, and transports me into the world of Thedas. This is, quite frankly, an RPG after my own heart. It's easily the best installment in the Dragon Age franchise, and one I'm far more likely to replay for that very same reason.

If you are an RPG fan, you owe it to yourself to give this game a real shot. I honestly can't believe why there are so many negative user reviews. People are too angry and bitter and their venom shows. 0/10? Really? That is not an honest assessment.

Inquisition easily makes it into my top three RPG video games of all time, and for that reason I'm confident to give it 10/10. Not to 'balance the negative reviews', and not to say that any game is ever truly perfect (there's always room for improvement), but because it delivers in spades everything I love about RPG games and rich storytelling.

Negate the hate! Do what you love.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I seriously don't understand why people are giving this game poor ratings. Bioware released two patches to fix issues on the consoles and on the PC, so please try them and see how you like it. I haven't had one single issue since playing on PS3. This game is huge and by huge I mean lots of areas to explore, lots of side quests, etc. I am currently just in the Hitherlands area and I'm taking my time, and I can tell you Ive put so many hours into this game and I haven't even completed all side quests. There must be hundreds of sidequests in this game. I like the way everything is set. Characters are easy to control and equip, upgrades, etc. Since playing on ps3, I've seen the graphics look very realistic, haven't noticed any glitches in this game yet. All the complaining people should download the two latest patches and try again. You won't be disappointed. This game looks realistic and so do the characters. The fighting is awesome. This game is a lot harder than the previous two games. This game also combines everything into one from the previous two games. You feel like you're playing the first one because you travel all over the wilderness fighting bears and yes bears will attack you, and you feel like youre playing the second one a bit, so it just combines everything from the first two. I'm having fun completing side quests. I don't know whether or not I will find everything I need to complete them because the environment is very huge! Thanks bioware, looking for some cool DLC Expand

I see that the PS3 version of this game is getting very mixed reviews, with people either rating it very high or very low. I wanted to weigh in to help people who haven't made the transition to the new gen systems with their decision about buying this game.

First, I will point out the negatives of the game. Obviously, the graphics are no where near as strong as the new gen versions.

That being said, I still really enjoy the art direction in the game and I found myself still feeling very immersed in the world of Thedas. I would say that the reduce graphics in the game are not a deal breaker if you are more about story and gameplay than graphics.

I have had the game freeze up on me a few times. I have put about 25 hours into the game thus far and it has frozen up on me about six times. It is annoying and frustrating, but it is also something that is not uncommon for a PS3 open-world rpg. During the majority of my playing sessions, though, I have had few technical issues.

Now for the positive. The game is huge. There is a ton to do and explore. I have found all of the areas in the game to be interesting and full of enjoyable quests, as well as having lots of things to find through exploration.

I have really enjoyed the story of the game thus far. The breadth of side quests can cause you to easily ignore the main story for long periods of time, which can make it feel a bit disjointed. I have found that I really enjoy exploring the relationships with my companions and doing the side quests related to each of them. Getting to know all of them really enriches the experience of the main story, in my opinion. It makes you care more about the events in the game.

The combat is also very enjoyable. I like that it brings back some of the tactical elements of Dragon Age Origins, while maintaining the more frantic pacing of Dragon Age II battles. The one thing that I have found a little annoying is the mixture of leveled enemies in each area. It is frustrating to be wandering through an area, easily dispatching enemies at a lower or equal level to you, and then suddenly coming across enemies several levels higher than you. This has caused me to flee in terror from more fights that I care to share.

Dragon Age Inquisition is certainly not a perfect experience on the PS3, I will be honest. However, I have found that I am able to overlook some of the technical and graphical issues to see the solid game at its core. I am a more casual, adult gamer, who has yet to upgrade to the current gen systems. I have found that the game has more than met my needs and I do recommend it to other longtime Dragon Age fans.

However the story is pretty engaging, everything is centered around you and you take direct impact in the plot, character are pretty unique (with several returning back) and are various, the beginning is just the worst part of it as you are weak and pretty helpless with out a party, but later on as you level up you get cool unique armor and equipment with new abilities making some battles easy others not so much. Speaking of the start: at first your put on a few linear objectives and guided by allies to do a thing, however a little later the entire world opens up to you as you're able to explore variety of landscapes, at first this is very overwhelming as you don't really know where to begin but the game does some what guide you through making it so several areas difficult so that you know what areas to explore first and then explore later. As for the quality of the game it's not so well at least of last gen, though this only hinders the experience slightly I recommend getting the PS4 version, as the PS3 (and 360) version is somewhat buggy with some quest breaking bugs causing me to either comeback to the quest another time or reload a save. I highly recommend this game to anyone who has a lot of time on their hands, anyone who buys this game but has a tight schedule so only like 1 or 2 hours of game time is a fool; the game demands patience and exploring, as such trying to run through it will hinder your experience. Bioware knows how to write interesting characters. Dorian, Solas and Iron Bulls back stories and story lines are very interesting and well told. For comedic relief you have Varric, Sera and surprisingly Cassandra at some points. The side quests / activities are mostly fun and add value to the total experience. The battle system works well but it is not as tactical as in Dragon Age Origins. It may be a disappointment for some people. The war table is a welcome addition. It provides missions which will be done by your advisors (mainly their subordinates). The outcome unlocks loot, new quest or knowledge. On the other side you can also unlock new missions by exploration of the areas, talking to npcs or making decisions. The crafting system in this game is also really well done. You collect various raw materials for example leathers and ores and combine them according to recipes to new weapons and armors. Each material has individual effects that boost abilities or add effects. You can also add runes and/or other materials to armors and weapons to increase stats or add effects. For potions and traps the game lets you increase the duration, the effects or add complete new effects. The graphic is fine for me it is not awesome but there is beauty in the game. The soundtrack is as in each Dragon Age game fantastic. It is fitting from beginning to end. Now I will answer the question why I did not give 10/10 points. There are some bugs in the game. I had total freezes and must total reset the game approx one time in 8 hours play time which also erased my save file twice (and I also lost some trophies I had before). Also the game starts a bit too slow / unimpressive until you reach a certain point. The characters are also unimpressive until the story (and their side stories) gains momentum. Don’t get me wrong. The characters are fantastic but it takes a bit too long until they get really good (There are many people that will say the characters / party are garbage because of this) Total rating would be 9,4/10. Overall it is clearly a must own game for me and worth the money. I hope there will be expansions and new content in the future. Expand
