In all, I loved the story, but it still felt EXACTLY like MW2, the only reason anyone would by this would be because of the storyline, but in the competition of MW3 vs BF3, well i think we have a clear winner. Yeahhh. This game really needed to be more advanced. Just the same old dribble another time around.
It's a shame they don't even try improving it. The multiplayer is as always. The story is ridiculous. The only thing they improved was a way for them to make more money on "elite". I'm almost positive map packs are going to be $20 now. I already feel ripped off for a reskinned MW2. Atleast

Major dissapointment. Agree with everyone else, this game is MW2 with minor additions. Elite is an absolute mess that simply doesn't work, never can login and do anything. I think Infinity ward have lost it, Treyarch are the way forward for Call of Duty now.

Whilst some new modes have brought a bit of a refreshing change, its still too much of the same. Teamwork is still non-existent despite the creators bringing in modes like Kill Confirmed and Team Defender. Every mode still ends up with everyone playing deathmatch. They're just ranking upWhilst some new modes have brought a bit of a refreshing change, its still too much of the same. You can even tell the die hards are getting fed up with it as I don't see a lot of people prestiging. They're just ranking up and staying there.

The menu system has been made more complicated and setting up a new class now takes an age. Some of the things aren't where you would expect them. Want to alter your killstreaks? You have to go into Create a Class then actually go into a class and change it there.

And the bugs. At many points I am getting less than 1 FPS. Yes, you read that right - less than one frame per second. If you are host, its as bad as it was on MW2. Also Ground War just feels laggy and slow to respond - I cannot believe that just adding another 2 players to a game mode brings the system to a crawl but this has been the case since COD4. Its definitely a PS3 memory limitation issue as the 360 doesn't suffer from it. Seriously though, in regards to the framerate issues, this is completely unacceptable with a game engine thats years old now and on a platform where the hardware is fixed. I could understand this happening on a PC where you have infinitesimal hardware combinations but on a console?

Didn't take the cheaters long to figure out glitches and killstreak cheats but these do seem to be addressed quicker and there is now the ability in the pre-game lobby to select a player and report them.

However nothing gets away from the fact that if this was HalfLife 2 it'd be a mod or the fact that it could have just been released as a map pack for MW2. Maybe it should have been, even at the price it is - the same as was done for BF:Bad Company 2 with the Vietnam pack, talking of which I finally got into the Battelfield series last week with BF3 and I have to say that it just shows the shortfalls of MW3 in spectacular style.

Call of Duty MW3 is one of the most over-hyped and overrated games of this gen alongside Battlefield 3. Cod MW3 is supposed to be a sequel to MW2, but it offers nothing new to the table. Modern Warfare 3 was hyped up to be amazing. It was, but no more amazing than MW2 was. The small things that really irritated me, was the laziness of developers. Titles and emblems are exactly the same. The multiplayer challenges have been named the same, (absentee killer, or something like that) it's very embarrassing. I actually cringed while perusing these lists, it's really bad that they didn't come up with new names. I still enjoy playing it, but I really don't think they should be allowed to charge another $50 for this. I'm not sure how true it is, but I heard people even found the code for MW2 maps in the PC install of MW3? How is that acceptable. It hints to a true "copy and paste" job. Spec Ops, oh my god. One of the missions is the same setting, objective, and feel to a campaign missions. I am not surprised people have all jumped on to rate this game badly. It's not that loads of people hate it, it's just a lot of people feel strongly that it was a disappointment. And not enough people are defending it by coming on and putting a 10/10 on. I honestly feel my score has been justified. I have enjoyed the game, but it really is not much different. They brought us new guns, new maps, and two new game modes. I know they won't change the format, I don't want them to. I want them to not charge us as much because it really isn't a brand new game. IGN themselves said the Campaign lacked any immersion of the player.

    I hope you enjoyed reading.

The multiplayer however, is a different story. It's a mixed bag for me since while the maps and guns aren't as good as in MW2, everything else (which there is) is greatly improved. I'd be hard-pressed to call this an expansion pack but then comes the spec ops with survival mode which would be better with 4 people, and the other spec ops missions are a BLAST. So while I say it's no MW2, that's like saying that a trillion dollars is no blowjob from the girl of your dreams while you're high on acid and swimming in a pool of liquefied gold yet not burning. - Addition of new strike packages - I like the idea of catering to different player types. I think this creates a more interesting environment and awards different play styles.

    Cons
    - matching and lag compensation and hit detection - penalizing people with fast internet connections? I often get 4-5 shots off on my screen, and inevitably get killed. I watch to killcam, and see not only did I get maybe 1 shot off on my competitors screen, but I may have even been facing the wrong way. Ridiculous. I have no problem getting beat by someone who is better than me at COD, I don't play that often. But it is quite frustrating to play, only to get 1:2 k/d ratio constantly because I have a decent internet connection.
    - Maps - very poor construction. Little to no cover. High killstreaks require more "luck" than skill in my opinion. No innovation (maps in CODMW2 were excellent, multiple levels, areas for cover)
    - graphics - meh ... nothing new here
    - guns even the "new" guns are just copies of MW2 (mp7 is uzi, FAD is the same as the 2000 gun)
    - spawning - The assault package is almost worthless because of spawn points; which often are right behind me.

If this had come out 2 years ago, great. I would still only give it a 6-7 based on the many multiplayer shortcomings.

I have seen that some of the producers have tweeted saying "this game is definitely not a 1.7" or something of that nature. I agree, but it is no greater than a 4-5 for sure at this point. Certainly not this great new experience that they so highly touted with all the hype.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. COD 4 MW and MW2 were legendary, it made the series what it is today. I was looking forward to it, it was one of my highest anticipated games since GTA 4 back in 2008. Infinity Ward really took a hit when 40+ people left, MW3 is the result of it. While I'm not saying it was bad, I would prefer the last 2 modern warfares over this.

The story was pretty good, the new guy Yuri is like Soap was back in COD4. It was also pretty touching the way the events leading up to Soap's death transpired, but the ending was the sweet revenge we all were waiting for.

Overall, great game, good graphics and other stuff. It's just too repetitive, Thats all.

Come on Activision you are supported by BlizzardI really can't begin to understand how critics are giving MW3 tens. I don't see how they can't see that this is the same recycled material all over again! Jumping right into the game excited to play, I was taken back by the same graphics (from the first MW) and very little variety in abilities by your player in the single player version. Come on Activision you are supported by Blizzard they can't give you enough money to get/create a new game engine?! With that being said, the story line was captivating enough over the years to get me to purchase the game, mainly due to the fact that I wanted to see what happened next. In truth, most First Person Shooters do not change all that much over the years; but with the Modern Warfare (MW) series just seems to get worse not better over the years. The multi-player is just poorly executed. MW3 gives players the same abilities in roughly the same size levels as MW, MW2; this in turns makes a potent mix for players. It is often frustrating to play multi-player with randomly being killed when spawning, and the infamous grenade throw from across the level. You think over the past years that these things would be handle or at least researched to try to improve for a better multi-player gamer experience. In my opinion you are playing a steroid version of Counter Strike Source, in the sense that all the levels are the same size and the pace of the game is extremely too fast to be enjoyable. Things I would like to see implemented in multi-player. 1. If you are in a building have the ability to set up fortifications; based off the amount of kills you get. It would add an element of challenge to the game oppose to people doing the dolphin flop (going from full stand to prone) and somehow killing people with head shots. Also as a catalyst to the people who are doing these fortifications the people with Air Support Perks whatever they may be can blow the buildings up. Seriously Activision, it has been over four years make the darn building blow apart; you did it in the campaign! 2. I say this with the utmost respect, expand the Goddamn Maps!!!!!! I am tired of playing small levels and getting blown up at my spawn point, however random it may be. I have enjoyed playing Activision's Games for many, many years but this game and this franchise; at this point I don't see redeeming itself. I dare it to do better! Expand

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class.
