No. It's time we all stop buying these games. I'm sorry that I'm part of the group who bought the game and is now complaining about it-egg on my face. But I will not let this happen again, and I extend to all of you to not make the same mistake. I'm sick of these people making money on completely sub-par games.

This game is sad. They use the same engine as past 2 MWs. Its just a copy and paste, IW didnt work hard on this game at all. Theres just a few new perks here and there and killstreaks, but not much of a improvement

I would firstly start by questioning whether anyone actually realises what a sequel is. Its meant to have many qualities which are similar while adding and changing certain things and finishing the story. It's a shooter so there's only so much that can be changed. Its meant to have many qualities which are similar while adding and changing certain things and finishing the story. It's a shooter so there's only so much that can be changed. There are a few problems, hence the 9 and not 10 (you dont have to give it a 0 just because its not perfect or what you wanted). There are still flaws in the MP such as knifing through air and lag; and the campaign is too short, but these are redeemed through everything else. Before going on ill also address the whole stupid Battlefield vs MW thing. Why cant people just like both? I do. I prefer MW3 But would never say that BF3 is a bad game. They are so similar in some ways that it makes more sense to either like or hate both. The set pieces in BF3 are weak and feel lifeless no matter how interactive they tried to make them, but the MP is more strategic which is good and so why choose if I had the money id get both but couldnt (have seen BF played through and had a go though). MW3 nicely wraps up the story of the game with plenty of dramatic moments or twists which keep you interested and eager to find out what will happen next. The characters aren't very deep ( the usual macho men that you get in every war game) and yet they still manage to make you care about their fate on more than one occasion. The plot itself could be considered a little thin but does make sense and create an adequate sense of tension. The storyline moves along so quickly that some details are skimmed over and so it's hard to understand what is going on at times; on the other hand the pace keeps things interesting and no level or section of the story drags on for too long and becomes boring. The huge set-pieces in the game deliver such mind-blowing impact that you feel like youre really fighting for your life. There are just the right amount of explosions and things falling down around you to exemplify the destruction of that a third world war would bring without getting ridiculous. Each level has a different atmosphere from the last based on what had happened in the last level or the mise-en-scene of the current level. New York drops you in the middle of a fast-paced shootout through the streets, while Paris is an eerie, ghostown-like environment. Some sounds and textures may be recycled but this does not ruin anything at all. The guns have more of a 'feel' to them than in any shooter i've played. They look and sound lethal and really get you feelinf like youre firing the gun (my personal favourite being the M4A1, it just sounds so good). I don't understand most of the criticism of the visuals, they're good, no worse than any other game out there and are superior to other MW games. Despite the short campaign I did come out of it feeling satisfied because although it only took around 5 hours to finish, they were a damn good five hours and I had no problem moving on to higher difficulties just to have an excuse to play it again. Not only that, the MP and spec ops provide plenty of replatability. Spec Ops has two types now: Missions and Survival. Survival is infinitely replayable and i've actaully never got bored of playing it. Playing with different people creates a different experience and 16 levels is plenty to choose from, and despite not making new levels especially for it the MP maps also fit playing survival (actually better in some cases). The levelling up system to unlock upgrades and weapons for use in survival mode also adds an element which encourages you to play on even beyond the fact that its just genuinely fun, especially with a friend. The missions are more of a mixed bag with some being better than others but generally being very well designed. Most of them become incredibly hard (for me anyway) on veteran difficulty and so there's many many hours more gameplay in trying to complete them; additionally, what's not to like about being able to just pick a mission and jump in to a juggernaut suit anytime you like?

The multiplayer has plenty of flaws. But every single MP i've played has for the first month or so and there's not too many compared to, say, Resistance 3. Some of the maps are a little poorly designed and too labyrinthine or just having too many, too good camping spots. However the leveling up system is a large improvement on any other MW game. The weapon levels add an extra element to how you have to improve your guns and proficiencies allow further customisation of your class. The prestige shop is a nice little touch aswell. The perks are more balanced than ever before with some countering others and needing to be used more tactically than usual. The new killstreak system with support, assault and specialist packages allow newer players to stand more of a chance and allow there to be a greater variation of killstreaks available while also rewarding players who can get the higher level killstreaks with worthwhile rewards.

Next is spec ops first they didn't increase the amount of missions that much and most of them just take patience to beat even on the hardest difficulty so clearly they didn't want to make tough challenges just long ones which is tedious and boring. Now onto Multiplayer where to begin oh i know its boring i mean come on over half the guns are from the last two games so no creativity there and kill streaks are either a easy to shoot down or B not worth using i mean a juggernaut can be killed by one grenade so ya its real worth the eighteen kills to use it. on a personal note its also boring with all close quarter maps and no fun to play by your self. i played for five minutes with out my friends and quit from lake of any feeling at all. so i guess what I'm trying to say is MW3 is just a sad half ass attempt to make another call of duty game before people realize it's like the madden series where it's the same stupid crap time after time again. in conclusion its a lazy attempt at a game and show little to no new content so I give it a four based solely on the fact that it call of duty is still fun to play against friends with but that's all i see in this game. But the story just tries to hard to copy its predecessors and fails with writing that would make even Kojima scream. The story copies its predecessorHow and why the hell would Russia simultaneously invade all of Europe? What did Europe do and how can the Russian army have the manpower for the invasion. Also, if the Russian president is flying over for a peace treaty, who the hell gave the order to invade Europe? Add to that the shallow and token attempt at shock and awe. In the game a child is blown up, but it's so shallow and token. What's the purpose? War and Terrorism are bad? The nuke in MW1 and airport shooting already proved that point. Even those shock moments have some meaning; the MW1's nuke caused general shepard to spark a war in MW2 and the airport shooting in MW2 lead to the Russian invasion in MW3. It's a cliched and poorly designed story that outdoes the neo-con fantasies of tom clancy and john milius. Sure some guy can say it's supposed to be like a michael bay movie or that multiplayer is the real meat. But the COD series have always campaigns that raised the stakes and stunned millions. - Addition of new strike packages - I like the idea of catering to different player types. I think this creates a more interesting environment and awards different play styles.

    Cons
    - matching and lag compensation and hit detection - penalizing people with fast internet connections? I often get 4-5 shots off on my screen, and inevitably get killed. I watch to killcam, and see not only did I get maybe 1 shot off on my competitors screen, but I may have even been facing the wrong way. Ridiculous. I have no problem getting beat by someone who is better than me at COD, I don't play that often. But it is quite frustrating to play, only to get 1:2 k/d ratio constantly because I have a decent internet connection.
    - Maps - very poor construction. Little to no cover. High killstreaks require more "luck" than skill in my opinion. No innovation (maps in CODMW2 were excellent, multiple levels, areas for cover)
    - graphics - meh ... nothing new here
    - guns even the "new" guns are just copies of MW2 (mp7 is uzi, FAD is the same as the 2000 gun)
    - spawning - The assault package is almost worthless because of spawn points; which often are right behind me.

If this had come out 2 years ago, great. I would still only give it a 6-7 based on the many multiplayer shortcomings.

I have seen that some of the producers have tweeted saying "this game is definitely not a 1.7" or something of that nature. I agree, but it is no greater than a 4-5 for sure at this point. Certainly not this great new experience that they so highly touted with all the hype.

The format is too old now and its long standing issues are really not acceptable anymore (like getting killed via Killstreak bombing two seconds after spawning). Problem 1) The single player campaign is absolutely terrible - bad writing and poor musical score plague the experience as it cribs off of the previous Modern Warfare titles in a very sterile manner. 2) Multiplayer's new modes (Kill Confirmed) feel like hackish mods, completely unacceptable for a product that sells at full price. For such a derivative title, it should NOT be selling for 60 dollars. It's worth maybe about 40 dollars, including all of this year's DLC map packs for free. The game looks terrific from a graphics and sound stand point, but the gameplay is ancient and its design problems legion. Personally, I think all of this year's military themed FPS games kind of suffer from this, and if developers don't want to come up with anything new, then fine. Just don't charge full price. Avoid. Online is the same, with little change but a few more flashing words of BONUS. Guns sound lovely but don't pack the punch needed to make me feel I'm in the battle. Same old run and gun attitude, no squad feel at all. Same Block style atmosphere maps, WALLS, STAIRS, WINDOWS oh and plants and burnt out cars. Playing the game has just set it that I will never buy any of the CoD series again. I was so hoping that MW3 was going to change this for me but it hasn't. Thank you CoD4 for setting a bench mark for FPS and thank you Battlefield for having the guts to implement change. I give fealty to EA, DICE and the FROSTBITE 2 Engine. Well Played. Expand

Personally i believe that this game was very sloppy, it is the same with all call of duty games they just change the box case and add a price tag and they get a massive amount of sales, i am very dissapointed at how sloppy they have put this game together, the graphics are horrible and they just make the story out of nowhere adding death and destruction for no actual reason, the story onlyPersonally i believe that this game was very sloppy, it is the same with all call of duty games they just change the box case and add a price tag and they get a massive amount of sales, i am very dissapointed at how sloppy they have put this game together, the graphics are horrible and they just make the story out of nowhere adding death and destruction for no actual reason, the story only lasts 3-6 hours and every level has a bomb exploding or a train crashing and gets very repetitive, the online lacks as usual, one thing modern warefare tries to acheive is "being realistic" but how realistic is running around a very tiny map, doing 360 spins from rooftops and re spawning after 10 seconds behind the enemy who just killed you? the map designs are also very disapointing finding glitches constantly throughout it, i can definitely expect glitches in games such as skyrim where developers have put a great effort into making the game whereas with call of duty they justs eem to fire them out of the rear end. very dissapointed and undeserving i can understand why it wont be getting any where near GOTY Expand

    Wow,This game is so fun...

The story is too predictable as all story modes of every CoD goes like this:
    You are **** who is a Recruit/Badass
    You get injured
Halfway the game some one dies
You kill main enemy at the end.

    Amazing right?
    That's it,This is a horrible game.
    Buy Skyrim instead.

I agree that the game seems more like MW2 1/2, or a glorified expansion pack, but I also like the comfort of being able to pick up a controller and just play the game without a huge learning curve. I've been a call of duty fan since the first modern warfare and owned every mw game since and never played the bf3 series. The biggest problem I have with this game is the lack of innovation with every consecutive game. Cod is a winning formula but it's being copy and pasted (literally) and the game is still very addictive but you'll get burned out really easy after a few hours. The second problem is with the maps. It's a massive maze of junk and buildings with no "flow" in any of them. This leads to lots and lots of campers killing you instead of actually having a good gun battle. I also miss the customization there was in black ops, the call of duty elite website allows you to look at the same stats but now it's not in the game. A few minor annoyances I have are how long flash bangs blind and stun you, it's about 5 seconds which feels like an eternity. Also there are very few maps for sniping because the layout is up close and maze-like which doesn't allow you any distance. The biggest plus I have with this game is the gun-balance. I feel like there's not one gun that is overpowered or underpowered. I also like how you have 80 levels to prestige and gold gun camo is based on how much you use that gun. All in all I'd give the multiplayer experience a 6. Its addictive and fun but you'll burn out quick. Let's stop paying the developers to copy and paste 90% of the game and lets get some new innovative material. Expand

So these FPS games are only as bad as there intended target group. The main reason why i enjoy MW3 is because it's manic, it starts i shoot > throw a grenade here and there and just go mad in general. Theres nothing wrong with that i just feel some of these gamers are just being little bit*ches for the sake of being one. As i said before if there isn't a change in the next installments i will not be parting with my £50. Expand

I don't get why Call of Duty insists on releasing the same game over and over again, and hoards of fanboys insist that it's "the greatest" game when I could name 20 games off the back of my hand that are better than Modern Warfail 2.5.

There's a tangible insistence from gamers that this series needs to evolve, but it seems unwarranted when it still leads the FPS class. The engine's definitely in need of an overhaul, but when it comes to thumping set-pieces and addictive multiplayer design, Modern Warfare 3 is still in a league of its own.

By sticking to the series' strengths, Modern Warfare 3 delivers some of the best competitive, cooperate, and single-player shooting in the business.
