Il secondo miglior Final Fantasy secondo me.

I wont go into spoilers, but the story has so many twists and turns that I personally believe its the 2nd best story in the franchise, with extremely likable characters and more incredible Nomura designs. Where I think it really shines however is the gameplay and music

Gameplay wise, it is very much a traditional rpg, but one where encounters almost feel like a puzzle. Everyone in Final Fantasy 10 is kind of a glass cannon, so it's really fun to have to work with powerful spells and limit breaks to be able to get through encounters before they do too much damage to you.

Musically the score is done by Nobuo Uematsu, Massashi Himauzu, and Junya Nakano, and I think they all bring something amazing and special to the table, working together incredibly well. The game is great at framing environments through its music, expecially with instances like Thunder Plains

While I think some limit breaks (like mix) are overpowered, its never in a way that distracts from the game. I truly love basically everything about it

The best Final Fantasy! I just love the characters, story and the fighting system. Sphere grid works well as a skill tree. Gets me crying every time. Yuna/Tidus is the best love story on any game I've played. Game that has changed my life when I played it as a kid.
Best character awards go to Auron/Jecht cause they're just dope!

I enjoy the gameplay and especially like grinding my characters to absurd strengths, finding all the best gear, and taking on the post game content, but as far as impact on my life, the story and the music are what makes this game one of my all time favorites. This game has some of the most beautiful, emotional, and evocative music I've ever heard in gaming. Every single piece I hear carries with it old memories and strong emotions. The story is a harrowing tragedy that takes place in Spira, the single most interesting world in any FF game. Every time I play, I'm impressed by the best-selling novel quality of this plot. This is one of the only games in my collection that I come back to every couple years, and very likely will for the rest of my life.

As a lifelong gamer and 34 years old in 2022, FFX is the first JRPG I have ever completed. I have picked up plenty over the years, but none of them have captivated me enough to warrant follow through to completion; FFX even fell into this camp up until this most recent playthrough. There was probably a bit of younger me ADHD at play before, but actually completing this game feels substantial just for the simple fact that it is my first in the genre.

Obnoxious foreword aside, there aren't many games I can think of where a story has grabbed me quite the way X did. Every character had their purpose, but the heart and soul of this game is the relationship that unfolds between Tidus and Yuna. Their story and dynamic is what pulled me through this game, and I'm sure I am far from alone in feeling that way. The winding road of this game brought upon all the emotions. Happiness, anger, sadness. Tears were definitely had along this journey

I think the thing with JRPGs that tends to make me shy away is the anxiety of making the right choices when assigning attribute points to your characters. There was a little bit of that at the beginning for me, but I quickly began to realize that the sphere grid system in this game is actually pretty genius. It made me WANT to engage with it. I wasn't so concerned with min-maxing after realizing fairly quickly that even if you pass something up now, you'll have plenty of opportunity to loop back around later. I adored spending time with that system.

I am a little mad at myself for not completing this game 5, 10 - hell, even 20 years ago because it is just so damn good. At the same time, I am happy that I was able to truly experience this game for the first time as a grown adult, with the emotional maturity that comes with those years. Easy 10/10 for me, not because it's perfect, but because it is significant, and it's impact on me as a person was profound.

Also making tidus the protagonist was a fantastic move as he is new to the world so therefore you will be as surprised as he is if there is a twist in the game. The worldbuilding is so great, making it linear allows it to be more focused on story and characters, and that works well. Also the cast actually has chemistry with each other, which I find is something JRPGS often struggle with.

The soundtrack is fantastic, and works amazingly with the game. Everything about this game is amazing, and even though the voice acting is not too convincing, you have to remember that this is a product of its time. And for a ps2 game the graphics are miles ahead of games like devil may cry, god of war, and others.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For better or worse, this is a work that has reduced the degree of freedom and has become a game that is only about the story. However, the storyline was so well crafted and the freedom in terms of ability development made it a monumental work of art, and it will still be talked about decades later as the last genuine masterpiece of offline Final Fantasy.

The climax of the game is still unforgettable, and I have never experienced such a hot and sad scenario as the one that leads to the opening of the game and the true identity of Tidas.I was twisted and turned by its overwhelming story, I have no complaints.

But if I had to say what Final Fantasy could rival this one, it would be the online Final Fantasy 14 Shadow Bringers.

Okay, but there were some problems- Tidus is by far the worst main character in an FF, Yuna's voice was badly cast(especially when she laughed) too easy once you figure out a little trick involving aeons overdrives(i blazed through every ending boss battle without having to use any real strategy), seymour's final fight is a real letdown(2 holy spells=dead). also the storyline didnt develop as much as it did in 7 or 9, even 8, you kinda know what to expect what with Sin(you know your not gonna defeat him halfway through the game). my biggest dissapointment probably didnt bother a lot of peoploe but it bothered me. The fact that no one ever says "Tidus" in the whole game led you not to bond with him or your characters as much, and it seemed kinda....empty. Especially the love story, I mean, Yuna never says his name? I didnt connect to that love story at all, whereas in 9 I really felt it. I know I had a lot of negative stuff to say, but the locations, bosses, music, and most of the voice acting and the battles easily make up for it. In the end you will feel very satisfied, and it does have the highest replay value of any of the final fantasies. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 4 biggest things (in no particular order): 1. Graphics/aesthetics - one of the best-looking games for PS2, period. 2. Characters - The 7 protagonists were done well. They have unique personalities with their own interests, faults, prejudices, and surprises. You get a decent amount of background on all the essential characters but not so much that there's no room for mystery. Some people say the protagonists were static, but I disagree. Wakka got rid of his prejudice against the Al Bhed, Khimarhi proved himself to his tribe, Tidus came to terms (sort of) with his father, and many of them threw away their religion. Maybe Auron is static, but he has already learned his lesson. There could have been more development in the relationship between Tidus and Yuna so the make-out scene wouldn't seem so out of place, and everything suffered slightly from the voice acting, but for the most part the characters were beautifully done.
    3. Story - You either like it or you think it's ridiculous. It really is a weird and dramatic plot, and it can get pretty cheesy as well as confusing, but it is entirely original. If you get into it, you'll realize there's a really good message behind it all, and the ending will leave you satisfied. Also, like people have said, the story is both linear and static; you can't change the course of the story. In that respect, it leans toward being an interactive movie - especially since you can't skip scenes. But you're in control for nearly all of the action, and it was paced well for the most part. There weren't too many cutscenes that weren't balanced with playable time and, honestly, you spend a ton of time running around and fighting. Besides that, there's plenty more to find out from talking to the numerous people standing around.
    4. Gameplay - I liked the battle system. It's turn-based and you can swap out characters, so you think more about strategy and less about mashing buttons. The overdrives were awesome - each character had unique and appropriate overdrives and they weren't too strong or too weak. The sphere grid is a good way to customize your characters, but your characters are locked into a path until at least halfway through the game, so it's hard to add magic, for example, to a usable level without many extra hours of leveling-up aside from the main story. The mini-games, like blitzball and chocobo racing, were fun and intuitive but too easy.

Of course this isn't like previous Final Fantasies, and you shouldn't expect it to be. It's on a new platform with new capabilities, just like FFVII was on a (better) new platform compared to its predecessors. I completely appreciate that Square did something different with FFX (and FFX-2). It's not perfect, but I like it.

Very good game, one of my favourites out the final fantasy series, even thought the battle system has changed. A big risk for Square Enix but they managed to pull it, 3D cinematic cut scenes really showed the quality of the graphics. The story is good, despite beeing sometimes corny and having the baddest scene in history of rpg with the laughing scene. I also like the battle system very much and the music is pretty good to. Graphics are also nice its just way to linear, letting you only go forward. Nevertheless pretty good RPG.

Very in-depth final fantasy. Final Fantasy X easily has one of my favorite fighting styles and leveling up systems in the whole series. The story isn't bad but the overall game play does make up for what it lacks as a Final Fantasy story.

Provided players can get used to Tidus, there's a lot in Final Fantasy X that you really have to try to dislike. The mechanics have been overhauled and combat is superb, the Sphere Grid is easy to understand and enjoyable (no "Junction" garbage) but best of all the game never devolves into a grind-fest, though the end-game is a bit of an end-boss gauntlet. Also, some people never realize that the ship that Tidus, Auron, Yuna and the other ride later in the game is the same ship wich Tidus helps to get back in the beginning. Why less 1 : I could give a full 10 to Final Fantasy X, but if I give 10 to Final Fantasy X I would have to give 11 to Final Fantasy XII. In this game, the cinematic scenes are kind of Annoying since we can't skip them, but in Final Fantasy XII we can skip all the scenes. (I still see them, since it depends if the player wants to meet the story or not). Blitzball, a stupid sidekick RPG on the real RPG, I never got that game since it is more luck than RPG, anyway you are only obligated to play it one time so it won't annoy much, only if you want to get Wakka's Ultimate Weapon, then you will have to be a Blitzball Champion. Everyone expected it to revolutionize the series much like VII. While X does make huge strides in presentation and gameplay, some of the voice acting and dialog isn't translated in a way that western gamers are used to. Tidus could have been a lot more likeable, but the dialog he is given and his voice acting make seem like a 12 year old brat instead of a teenage sports jock. As far as the rest of the characters, they're all fine but really no stand-out performances. The graphics on the other hand are absolutely gorgeous even now. The style and the bright vivid color of the environments are wonderful to look at, and the FMV sequences are stunning. The turn-based gameplay won't surprise anyone, but the ability to switch out party members and some neat overdrives keep the gameplay from becoming stale for 50+ hours. The upgrade system called the sphere grid is, for the most part, a unique and interesting way to level up your character even if it is somewhat clunky. Overall, this game an outstanding entry in the series, despite one or two noticeable flaws. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

And you get Auron back witch is a plus because I argue that he is the coolest Final Fantasy character. As the story progresses you find out that the major religous leaders are all corrupt and are actually dead, yuna is going to die if she completes the final summoning, Tidus is actually just a dream of the Fayth and Auron is also dead but bound to the planet until they defeat sin. Having just beat this game for the 3rd time I can honestly say this is one of the finest RPG's ever made. It's got a good story that's easy to follow, a good battle system and a really addicting upgrade system that makes you want to keep playing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the game in the series that gets the most negative feedback in the form utterly false statements; yes, it is linear in the beginning, but once you get the airship, you are able to visit all the towns of the world, exploring for new weapons and defeating a plethora of optional bosses, all requiring different strategy and approach. There's hidden temples, hidden bosses, hidden weapons to acquire, a battle arena to conquer, everything. If someone says FFX to be linear in the vein of FFXIII then they are, quite simply, false. The characters are customizable in the sense that one CAN follow different paths in determining the stats of one character, and although in the end every character has maxed out the entire grid, it is by no means even remotely similar to FXIII crystarium nonsense. Similar to earlier entries, FFX also offers hidden Summons to acquire, although only usable by one character. It also features a minigame in the form of blitzball which includes a team recruiting where the player can search the world for better blitzball players. The only downside is that in the end the blitz minigame becomes broken and the player will steamroll every opponent. That's when the player realizes that he has to defeat two seasons of the game for getting Wakka's best weapon, and the task becomes quite tedious.

All that aside, FFX still has all the content that in my opinion made VII so great; a handful of optional bosses, customizable (to an extent) characters, a nice minigame (idea), hidden dungeons and secret temples. For all that, I'd probably give it 8.5 were it possible. Because it's not, 9/10.

One of the best old school Final Fantasy games, Tidus is a very charming character, and his romance with Yuna is done perfectly. The story is incredible with some tear-jerking moments and the music is fantastic but the combat mechanics while they are decent, they are also outdated and the grinding can be a little bit annoying. Still, the game holds up pretty well for a turn based JRPG.

. Graphics. It's a 7/10. Remember it’s a ps2 game. In the time that the game was released (2001), the graphics were awesome. For example, even today when Yuna dances at destructed seashore village give me chills.

. Leveling system. Different from standard leveling, requires more intelligence to navigate it.

. Lore. It's a 9/10. The concept that sustain the lore is beautiful: a being that haunts humankind and cannot be defeated easily. Besides that the interpretation of Sin realized by the factions in the game shows similarly some approaches of real problems today.
. Soundtrack. The singles "To Zanarkand", "Wandering Flame" and "hymn of the faith" must be in the top 100 video-game songs of all time.

    --> Negative points:

    . Unskippable cut scenes.

. Random encounters battle system. In a J-RPG supposedly the player should explore, but the random encounters move the player in another direction.

. Censorship. In my country, it’s 10 years old censorship. Man, if this final fantasy was 18+ and the authors added some adult stuff like blood and violence. That would improve the lore and experience of a world that mankind isn’t the true ruler a lot. Spira in real life would be pretty violent.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Final Fantasy X is a very linear JRPG with a lot of history, my type of game

The story of this game is very good overall. It already starts in action, with a very good sequence of events. After that she has more of a comedy feel to it (I didn't like it that much) and later it became a very emotional and heavy thing (from the arrival in the first boat village, when Yuna dances, the story starts showing her true face, I started to like it) . But the introduction of the party characters I found was weak, it was very fast and with no time to establish them (Wakka's was the best). The policy in this Final Fantasy is subtle, being directly affected constantly by the party in the course of the story but only in two moments is the party affected by it (I wish there was a little more focus on it).
The way it is told is generally phenomenal, but there are some moments that I thought were not very good. The lore of this world is very good, but if you don't 'search' it extremely deeply, just reading on the internet to understand everything. Another problem is that it is somewhat understood.
It is normal for the part of the revelation about the dream that you 'get lost' a little bit in the story, the screenwriter threw a bunch of questions at once, you already had some and the worst is that even finishing the game some of them are not answered or are implied. Tidus' Zanankard was very poorly explained, they needed to have detailed how certain events were possible in more detail. Besides, for me, his defects are how the screenwriter treated Seymour, the weak introduction of the characters, the drama of Tidus in the city of Al Bhed (I didn't really like the execution), I thought there were too many things implied in this game, both concepts and parts of the story and the way the 'final solution' was simply given to the party I found it weak.
Seymour is a good character with a deep and tragic background. I really liked your role in the story and the wedding arch was pretty cool (one of the best parts of the game). But unfortunately I thought that its potential was wasted by the tiny focus on its history and its goals. What's the use of having a good and thoughtful story if the player doesn't see it (I read it on the internet, I don't know where this information comes from, maybe sidequests)

The characters in the game are good and have a decent amount of interaction between them (I wanted more, but I'm boring with that). The party changed throughout the journey, everyone developing during the journey, some really changed, some had changes in their beliefs and others matured. I would say that mainly Yuna, Tidus and Wakka. Some of the party characters also have 'subarches' of their own in the narrative, but some don't ...

The gameplay surprised me a lot, I could make a graphic remake. It is very deep, fun and keeps you entertained. The camera during combat, although occasionally confused, I liked a lot. Good boss fights, several different mechanics in them. Overdrive was something I found very interesting, a mechanic that makes the game more dynamic and fun. The sphere grid seemed quite absurd at first but in fact they did something phenomenal, evolving your character became fun, challenging and very rewarding (apart from one more interaction with the gameplay by the 'extra' spheres). Blitzball is very complex, which I found interesting since it is only a very secondary thing in the game.

The graphics are decent and a lot is due to the mods so I recommend playing on the PC. But to make this game in its best possible way it took time, I downloaded several mods (texture and reshade), I had to use a patch from the internet to fix a bug in it (green screen), I changed a configuration on my video card and downloaded one app to check the relationship points of the characters. But it was worth it. The cinematics are fantastic, and there are surprisingly high numbers of them. The character model outside the cutscenes has no facial emotion. And Tidus' model itself is very bad (outside of cutscenes). Another thing that bothered me was that at different times the characters cry but the tears don't appear (the player only knows that they are crying because some other character comments on this).

Very good level design and considering the season it is something out of this world. Okay puzzles (I found 'bad', Bevelle's temple, the problem is not solving, the problem is that getting around there is very boring and time consuming)

Yunalesca is a boss nonsense, Seymour in flip flops (it may be because I was well underleved in her ¯ _ (ツ) _ / ¯). Until the boss fight at Mt. Gagazet the game was okay okay in difficulty but after that the difficulty curve gives a considerable jump in general, maybe the game was made thinking that the player does the sidequests that make you well OP, because some bosses fights are very difficult from then on (it is worth noting that some definitely are not)

    Also really good soundtrack

This is one if the best RPGs of all time. Great characters, amazing gameplay, and well... honestly a bizare story, very, but a story that is so well written and voice acted that you believe it even though it is laughable. Must play.

I thought this game had a very unique story. The graphics are really spectacular especially the animated Cutscenes. I loved the characters development and each character's personality brought something special to the table. I'd say my only problem with this game was the voice acting. it was lacking in emotion and at times the characters sounded very robotic. Despite this the game is a must play!!

Tiene el gran defecto de que no es mundo abierto. Difícil estar a la altura de los mejores siendo lineal. Impecable, en todo caso.

What a masterclass of a game. As my first FF game that I completed (story wise) it was a great experience. It has been etched into my heart and mind and will never be forgotten. My first impressions with this game was pretty low, since I wasn't really a big fan of Turn based combat games. My first impressions with this game was pretty low, since I wasn't really a big fan of Turn based combat games. Also, I've tried playing other Final Fantasy games but ended up not finishing them 'cause it didn't grab me like this one did, so I had that same doubt in my mind with this entry as well. My expectations were completely subverted and ended up loving this game instead and had more of an appreciation for games with Turn based combat. The leveling system was a bit confusing the moment the game explained it, but that's just a feeling of being overwhelmed from the amount of information that is handed to you right out the gate. It gets easy to understand as you progress. The main cast of characters went from likeable to lovable, and served great purposes for the story and have interesting backstories and arcs that never failed to compell me. Though, I wouldn't say the same with the villain of the story since he really wasn't intriguing at all and felt very flat as the driving force for the mains to surpass. The story is phenomenal, accompanied by twists and turns that more so enhanced the engagement of the player to the narrative. The graphics for a 2001 game (I played the Ps2 ver.), still holds up to today. It doesn't look like 13 or 15, but it still ain't bad looking. And then the cutscenes... boy those cutscenes were insane..! How the hell did they pull off those cutscenes back in 01??? The people who handled this game in Square literally outdid themselves and are certified wizards of technology. The soundtrack and design is beautiful. From emotional to glorious sounding, it's easily one of my favorite tracks in a game. Overall, the game is amazing. If you're still hesitating to play this game right now, don't be. It's definitely worth your time and it pays off big time. Word of advice though, GRIND. 9/10 would play again. Expand

Final Fantasy X is a turn-based RPG developed by Square before the merged with
Enix. It came out on the PS2 in 2001 and spawned a sequel, Final Fantasy X-2.
It's since been ported to PS3, Vita, PS4, and more recently Switch and Xbox (On Game Pass rn) as Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. I played the PS4 ver. Without getting too into detail, you are a Blitzball player named Tidus.

Without getting too into detail, you are a Blitzball player named Tidus. Blitzball is basically underwater soccer. You suddenly get transported to another world and you have to find your way out and uncover the truth about what happened to your world. Very compelling story that makes you really feel for the characters. Music is incredible as always for the series. FFX has classic turn-based combat unlike most Final Fantasy games which are active turn based. Engaging, challenging gameplay makes combat rewarding. It's one of those games that you take your time with, or play for hours. Truly a timepiece for the PS2 and beyond. It's considered one of the greatest games of all time. A lot of people mention FF7, but FFX is right up there too. Very few games made me cry like this one did. Such an emotional story and beautiful world that envelops you. Highly recommend trying it to anybody interested in the series. 9.5/10

One of the best old school Final Fantasy games, Tidus is a very charming character, and his romance with Yuna is done perfectly.

Still, the game holds up pretty well for a turn based JRPG, and if you're a fan of the genre this is pretty much a must-play.

    Final Rating: "Amazing" ~ 9/10.

Literally the most emotional ending to game of my pre-teen years. Thankfully as an adult I don't cry. No you're crying!

Another Final Fantasy game I return to time and time again.

For me the last game in the golden age of ATB combat.

Brilliant story with a decent skill tree for progression.

I desperately want to give this game a ten, there are so many aspects of this game that are the best in the series. The party is stellar, the romance is captivating, and the combat mechanics are flawless. But those damn Cloister Trials really hold it back for me, most puzzles just aren’t my thing, except for Portal.

I'm about halfway through now. Graphics are good as every Final Fantasy is. The story is alright, the gameplay is better than a lot of Final Fantasy RPG's (more interactive instead of just pressing buttons.) My one big complaint is a common one. WAY too much video footage. Even when it ends, you walk 2 steps and there's another video. Each opponent is harder though which is I'm about halfway through now. Graphics are good as every Final Fantasy is. 1. We've seen the Final Fantasy epic take us on a memorable journey, but now it all seems like it's been done before. 10 is good, great at times, but it is no longer original.
  2. The replay value is very low, and the design is flawed by an inability to skip past sequences, even in replay mode. The playability also suffers by a lack of freedom of movement.
  3. Great RPG and certainly the best one on the PS2 currently, however, I feel it isn't as great as past FF's have been due to its lack of freedom.
