  1. After playing for too many hours you are left feeling as if Square want you to purely sit down and watch the game rather than play the game.
  2. We've seen the Final Fantasy epic take us on a memorable journey, but now it all seems like it's been done before. 10 is good, great at times, but it is no longer original.

Sequential software that labels itself next-gen should provide next-gen opportunities, not just exaggerate the mistakes it made on the last version. [Edge Magazine]

It has a great story, characters and music on par with the previous entries. It's a game that bleeds with emotion and tells a tragic tale that fits the tone of the end of Squaresoft. I consider this the last Final Fantasy game, as it is the last one that actually had a genuinely great story, characters and music. It's also the last single player mainline Final Fantasy game by Squaresoft as well. Coincidence? I think not. I consider FF6-10 to be the Golden Age of FInal Fantasy.

This game isn't perfect, but its bloody-well brilliant. The only criticisms I can think of that is that its a bit linear as it sacrifices its overworld, however this means it tells a much better story because of it. It also can get a bit complex and convoluted towards the end, but I'd argue aren't most Final Fantasy games like that towards the end, e.g. FF7, FF8 and FF9? Lastly, the main protagonist Tidus gets a bit of hate online. Haters claim he is annoying and irritating and has bad voice acting. Fair enough, he's definitely whiny at the beginning, but by the end of the game his character development is very present, he becomes a complete badass and doesnt whine anymore. Instead of whining to others about their plans and hard truths, in the end it is him who leads the reigns and whom everyone follows. I love Tidus and I think his voice acting is great for the most part and suits him very much. I'd argue that it is the voice direction in the game that is sometimes off. other than that it is fine.

I think the only the thing I dislike about this game is that fact that you can't skip cutscenes -_- (doesn't help on multiple playthroughs). Other than that it's one of the greatest video games ever created in my opinion and has shaped me to become the person I am today. :)

Definitely the best Final Fantasy game since FF7 and perhaps even surpassing it. The graphics are absolutely breathtaking. The sound effects and music create as much emotion as the dialogue. The voice acting isn't exactly up to par with GTA III, but the performances are good overall (especially Wakka and Auron). A very unique upgrade system allows you much more flexibility in improving your characters. Your normally physically weak spellcaster can become a great fighter if you choose, and there are dozens of abilities and skills to learn. The same goes for the battle system. While it is now strictly turned based, you have much more control over battles since you can switch the active characters at any time. Why did it take so long to think of this??? Finally, there's the plot. Although it doesn't quite unfold smoothly at times, it is very engrossing. As long as the game is, I wish that it could have been a little longer so I could have gotten to know all of the main characters a little better. Even still, the game's world was very well thought out and consistant. The writer's explain why the world is the way it is very well. Final thought: Get this game now or kick yourself later.
