Talent trees? Are ok, but they should have never been removed in the first place. Also still class imbalance.
Cross faction play? Only a tiny baby step, intead of actual cross faction play, not to mention still racial segregation.
Story? Well, at least no Sylvanas so far and no Jailer, but I'm not a fan of dozens of lgbt stories either.

One of my main issues I have is timegating. The fact that everything is so heavily timegated just means it’s the same old Blizzard doing the same old tactic to keep hamsters on theirtreadmill. Honestly, I think I’m just at a point in my life where I refuse to be a hamster anymore. More power to you if you enjoy that, but for me, I’d rather not be limited by systems created out of greed. One of my main issues I have is timegating. Ironically we have less systems now, sure, but I feel like the rep grinds and levels are convoluted and even the crafting is convoluted and now one of my least favorite things in the game. In a way you just replaced the previous systems with these, and it still feels like a chore or a job. Put it together with the well known issues like outdated graphics, the ongoing faction imbalance, class imbalance, bad lore, you name it, dragonflight is another expansion, where I have to unsub. Let's see what the next patch will bring. Right now, it is a no for me.

Third awful expansion in a row. gg Blizzard.
Story is poorly designed, boring, cringe and doesn't fix all the retcons and plot holes from previous expansions. It is also locked behind a renown grind.

Literally zero innovation. No player housing, no proper updates on customizations, no graphic overhaul, no nothing, just a copy&paste version, but worse, from GW2s dragon riding.
Countless maintenances because of all the bugs.
Classes are as imbalanced as ever.

To call this expansion bare-bones and lackluster would be an understatement.
There is nothing new, nothing that could keep players in the game for more than a month apart from raids and m+... as per usual. A huge letdown yet again.
No player housing. No free faction choice, still racism. Still visuals from 2005. Still a messy world with inappropriate time lines all over the place. No

Group loot makes the community even more toxic than it was before. The crafting system is a mess. You constantly stumble over dozens of bugs. The new race is just a reskin and not actually new and despite it being a dragon it doesn't even let you choose all of the playable races for visage. Not good so far. Really, really not good. Everything is just so painfully repetitive. And speaking of repetition, they've even managed to lock the game's story behind a tedious renown grind. It's a cringe-worthy story with lots of retcons, so most people probably don't even bother, but still.

The profession system has become unnecessarily confusing and tedious, with grinds upon grinds upon grinds.

But the real kicker as mentioned by others is the dated restrictions they still have in place, like the questionable race division between factions. They're still forcing players to choose a certain faction just because they want to look a certain way. And speaking of looks, the uneven and limited customization options between races are a joke.

And did I mention that there's still no player housing after all these years? Come on, Blizzard, get with the times, same goes for your visuals.

There are more things, like there are bugs everywhere in this expansion, It's frustrating to play a game that's so broken, and it makes you wonder if Blizzard even cares about there players.

And last but not least, the unbalanced classes. It's like Blizzard can't figure out how to make them all equally powerful, so they just let some classes dominate while others are left in the dust.

I can only agree with the prvious speakers.
Wow is an absolute disaster and the only ones who are still left playing this game are mainly composed of the most toxic bunch I have ever seen, but that is probably no surprise. The entire game design of WoW is incredibly toxic with its strict racial segregation between the two factions and the clear favoritism of certain groups over others.

The game is basically only designed for mindless raid and dungeon running, and even there, you have to be careful about what classes you choose, as certain classes are clearly favored by the devs.

As for the world in this game... it's just terrible what it has become. It's bad enough that the story hasn't made any sense since the end of Legion, but on top of that, the devs refuse to update their own world in terms of graphics. Even in the cities where players hang out, the graphics have largely remained unchanged since the early 2000s, making it look extremely ugly.

The same applies, of course, to the playable races such as humans and elves, which simply look terribly outdated and have not received any modern customization options to correct their weirdly shaped bodies.
The devs literally celebrate themselves when they give their players maybe 5 new hair colors for one or two races every few months.
I also saw many people mentioning the lack of player housing in WoW, or simple things like dyeable armor, sliders to adjust body size, etc. And yes, as I said, WoW is just more than outdated, but they also do nothing to catch up with other games.

I guess it's enough for them to exploit the whales and wannabe elite players instead of trying to win back all of their lost players.

The devs seem to want us all to play melee, because this entire xpac has gutted every single caster. Not a single one feels fun or rewarding, when melee can just obliterate anything they look at.
    Class Balance.
There is none. All classes need to be able to perform at any level in the game. This is why class designers are important, This is why listening to feedback in beta is important. Fix your mess.
    Talents.
They threw together talent trees, that took core class gameplay and screwed it all up.
    Racism as foundation in wow.
All races should be playable on either side. Not all races agree with where they were born and raised and with certain leaders, who decide for them which side to pick. It’s dumb, it’s old, racism should be a thing of the past and not the core of the game.
    Dragon Flight.
It’s fun, but I won’t ever take up a profession without normal flying for obvious reasons.
    Crafting.
I absolutely hate the new crafting system, the knowledge, the orders, everything.
    Evoker.
This class is terrible, the race is terrible, everything about its design is terrible. From the random bugs to the bad survivability. And why are we stuck with female human and male blood elf for visage? Dragons are able to use all mortal forms. But of course the devs have to restrict their players again with this race by only giving us human and blood elf. That lizard form is ugly af, so at least give us the freedom to choose from all races.

    2/10 so far. Not recommended.

Dragonflight leaves you with the same problems wow always had and is overall really just an awful expansion. Probably better than Battle For Azeroth and Shadowlands to keep it fair, but let's be real, that bar is very low.

For starters, the developers just completly ignore the overall world. Like always players get a tiny new island with modern graphics while the rest of the world plays no role at all. Neither the lore gets adjusted, for example in the 2 warfronts from bfa, or in Ashenvale, Gilneas, Theramore you name it, nor get the graphics an update. And we are talking here about visuals, that are almost two decades old. Thus the world in this game looks really hideous due to it's extremely outdated visuals.

Since luckily I've played other games besides wow I know what modern customisation options should look like. Customisations in wow however are a joke. Not only are there way too few options, they are also very unfairly portioned between playable races. To no surprise, considering how toxic the developers of wow tend to be.

Toxic is probably a good keyword to continune this review, because one of the worst problems the developers never removed is the glorified form of racism in wow, a very strict segregation of playable races apart from Pandaren and Evoker. Even up to this very day they treat racism as necessary and essential for Alliance and Horde. Are they for real? You choose your faction based on the race you want to be. That's just... oof.

This expansion also overcomplicated everything. Crafting/Professions are confusing and I’ve had to read several guides just to figure out how it even works. Not to mention that profession and also the story is locked behind a renown grind. Obviously to waste as much time as possible for the monthly sub cost this game charges.

The group loot situation is... how do I say this politely? Not good. Loot was always a problem and felt unrewarding in this game, but this time around... it's catastrophic.

The story continues to be very bad, even though it's not as bad as in wod, bfa and shadowlands, but again, very, very low bar.

wow doesn't really feel like a mmorpg. The RPG part is completly missing. It rather feels as if the only thing the developers care for is pretending that this game is an e-sport game. So it's neither for casuals, nor for people, who would enjoy the story/world part.

I took long breaks during battle for azeroth and shadowlands, because in my opinion these were really bad expansions, but I was still willing to give wow another chance with Dragonflight, because this game does have potential to be good... but now I'm really at a point where I'm considering to quit for good and many things that are being criticized reflect my own points, but for this review I would like to focus only on the things that bother me the most.

    So here we go.

It is noticeable that Dragonflight is very buggy. Even more so than previous expansions and this game always had problems with bugs.
The field of ferocity quest chain for example has been broken since launch. In my case the enemies glitch out and stop at one hp, so you have to start over again and that has happened several times. The toggle auto self cast keybind has not been functioning for weeks, to name another example. It just straight up doesn’t work at all, in any way. It's just frustrating. The skills on my action bars for Evoker will go randomly gray like if I couldn’t use the spells. They are still usable, yes, but it is still really annoying, because it very often happens during combat.
I could go on, but there are just so many bugs that I keep it short. You really have to wonder, who greenlighted this expansion to go live in this broken state.

Another point is class and faction imbalance. It has been a big problem for years, but in this expansion it's just... you simply can't play some classes because they perform so poorly, while other classes more or less one shot you. You also notice how insecure the developers seem to be with class design, looking at the constant nerfs and buffs, which seem to happen very randomly.

This means if you plan to play halfway decent in this game you have to face several limitations at once:

First being faction choice. Because oft the faction imbalance you rather not pick the unpopulated of the two choices or you will face several obstacles, be it in pve or pvp, you simply will have a harder time on this side.
Then of course there are races. Another point I strongly agree with. Half of the races won't be available for you, if you decide to join one of the two factions. So there is another big limitation for you, if you would like to play as some of those races. Another unnecessary limitation players have to face.
Third are classes as I already mentioned above. You will have a really bad time, if you choose some of the classes.

That are three very big limitations for player choice, that simply shouldn't be there and make the game just frustrating in so many ways.
By all means keep factions, but all these limitations need to be removed. Wow really needs free race choice for factions, more cross faction options and the classes desperately need an overhaul.

-Can no longer click-and-drag characters on login screen.
-While hovering over PvP talents, the tooltip will occasionally display the tooltip of the talent behind the window on the normal talent screen.
-The Arena Frames in edit mode does not stick where I place it. It always goes to the bottom left of the screen.
-Feral druid personal resource display shows the incorrect number of combo points very often until I use my first finisher in combat.
-When PvPing against hunters, quite often when they use Feign Death, their nameplate disappears.
-The Ancient Protector rare spawn cannot be summoned on some shards as the blue beam inside the pillars bugs out and cannot be interacted with.

    And many more problems.

Regarding rpg you get almost nothing and definitely nothing new. This game is now 18 years or so old. Normal devs, especially those with so much money on their hands like Blizzard, would maybe start updating their game, the graphics, the player models, customizations, normal features for today's games like player housing and proper gear... they ignore all of it. Like literally all of it.
This game's world is a dumpster fire to put it lightly and ugly to look at, beginning with the character selection screen, which not only forces you to take part in a racist faction system based on racial segregation, it also gives you poorly aged avatars, that didn't even receive basic things like sliders and color pallets over the last two decades.

Professions aren't fun either. It feels like a gold sink and if you do alts, it feels like a job. It feels now like a chore to do more quests to keep up with the knowledge points so professions are taking up even more time, arbitrarily for barely any return. The crafting order system is truly a nightmare. Even crafting consumables for yourself is a gold loss because the mats cost more than the product does on the auction house.

Seriously, do not go in voice chat, if you want to run a raid or dungeon. If other player notice you have a dialect, instead of pure American english, they will harass you. I've lost count on how many times this happened. The devs foster to these people with their racist faction system. Wouldn't even be surprised, if some of them are racist aswell, given the lawsuit and all and since they are still keeping racial segregation in wow and seem to be proud of such a toxic system.

No wonder they're dragging everything out and trying to keep us occupied with mindless activities that can go on forever.

Anyway, similar to the previous expansions, the story this time around is completely ridiculous. Thanks to the massive allegations against the developers, they've hastily added a lot of LGBT content to the game, and you'll encounter one trans NPC and member of the LGBT community after the other during your quests, and now there aren't even two genders for the player anymore.

Considering how the story was before, this comes out of nowhere, of course. I wouldn't even mention it though, but when you have a game like WoW, whose foundation is built on extreme racism and segregation and you leave that part unchanged... well, anyone who takes Blizzard's desperate attempt at progressivism seriously probably can't be helped anymore. Sure, they'll soon allow cross-faction guilds, but that's where it ends already. There will still be strict racial segregation between factions. The race you want to be will still force you to choose only one of the two factions. So, you still have no freedom in this game. Everything is dictated by your appearance. That is everything but progressive.

But it doesn't stop there. This game is miles behind others in every imaginable aspect and is just outdated through and through, or I would almost call it archaic in its current state. As an MMORPG fan, what annoys me the most however is the terrible story, which really makes your fingernails roll up so far.

Let me guess, you were probably hoping that after the abomination that was Shadowlands we might get something good. Hate to spoil it for you, but this is just another woke agenda driven train wreck. Vote with your wallets, while you still have them, or you will regret you didn't.

It started out promising with a neat storyline and some back to basics gameplay. Halfway through though, it started to look like two, three, four different games depending on the area I was in. Whatever teams worked on the first part of the game understood WOW lore, pacing, and spacing.

By the time you get to the Forbidden Reach in this new patch, you've got every horrible, frustrating component in the game thrown in during the first hour of the patch. Hard to locate quests stuffed in a stray mountain surrounded by trees, tag-a-long questers who block the actual quest objects you're trying to pick up, frustrating terrain with zero color or personality, and quests and enemies packed in so far together that you can't tell one from another.

If I had to describe "Return to Forbidden Reach," it's "Poorly done book report thrown together by a third grader at the last minute." Yes, you packed 20 quests here, but there's no pacing, no story line, and absolutely no reason to do any of it. If you do get a great new piece of armor, it won't be in your class.

What makes it even more difficult is that the ONLY people left playing this game are Twitchers, professional gamers, or diehards. So if you do by chance try the end game, I can guarantee you'll have a miserable time and deal with the most obnoxious people imaginable. They refused to listen to the chorus of people explaining that difficulty level in Shadowlands was far too much for people with family, careers, and lives, and chose to stick with an end-game that requires way too much study and far too many reflexes and time for anyone getting older (You know, the people who originally loved Warcraft). The people left playing it at the end are toxic.

I was expecting something great after BFA and Slands failed. The weekly events on the dragon isles (Community soup, hunts, etc) are so bland and lack any depth. The community soup causes extreme amounts of unplayable lag in Azure Span.

I wish that was the only issue. Blizzard has proved since pre-patch they are completely incapable of fixing bugs and reading beta reports/feedback. There are still many bugs, glitches, and exploits that have been reported since beta that are not being fixed.

The game outside of Dragon Isles is just a wreck it has been completely abandoned, old content is riddled with scaling bugs, quests that are glitched or cannot be completed. The scaling of BFA is just nauseating. It feels like private server quality.

Once you complete the quests in Dragon Isles (and there aren't many) you start to see just how barebones this expansion is. You are left with the same gameplay loop we have had since legion. M+ (These are just terrible, especially if you are not playing a class with high mobility.) PVP (No new battlegrounds, solo queue was a + I guess) Raid (Boring, over dragons already.) This is the expansion we needed to see something new added to the loop such as housing.

The community at this point is just not worth the stress, I deal with just about as many trolls and toxic players as I do in games like League of Legends.

The final thing I want to mention is the laughably boring rep grinds they added. The Obsidian Sanctum and Cobalt Assembly. This was proof enough that development time was cut short. This is world of warcraft in 2022, and this is the type of innovative content you give us? Terrible.

But don't worry guys we get the trading post next patch! That'll save it! More cosmetic and collectables is what we need. Not worth the $10 price increase this time around. What a joke. The only thing positive about this expansion was that it is the final nail in the coffin for me with this company and MMO.

It's frustrating to spend hours battling through dungeons or raids, only to receive sub-par loot that isn't even suitable for your character's class or specialization. This system also promotes selfishness among players, as everyone is trying to snag the best items for themselves. It's a shame that Blizzard didn't address this issue before releasing the expansion.

Another major flaw is the outdated segregation of playable races. It's disappointing that players are still forced to choose between Horde and Alliance factions and cannot play as all races on either side. This limits players' choices and can lead to frustration when wanting to play a specific race on the opposite faction. It's time for Blizzard to move past this outdated system and provide players with more freedom in character creation.

The profession system in Dragonflight is also complicated and convoluted. The crafting process is needlessly complicated, making it difficult to craft useful items for your character. It's frustrating to have to spend hours researching and crafting to create something that isn't even that great. The profession system needs a complete overhaul to make it more accessible and user-friendly.

The class balancing in Dragonflight is also unimpressive. Some classes are just much more powerful than others, which leads to an unfair advantage in PvP and PvE situations. This imbalance can make the game less enjoyable for those who don't play the strongest classes, and it's an issue that needs to be addressed.

The new race, Drakthyr, is also rather uncreative. Additionally, the fact that it can't use all playable races for its visage is a letdown.

Finally, apart from the new feature of dragon riding, there aren't many new features in Dragonflight. It feels like a missed opportunity for Blizzard to introduce innovative gameplay mechanics and fresh content that would keep players invested in the game.

In conclusion, while Dragonflight has its moments, it ultimately falls short of expectations due to its flawed loot system, outdated race segregation, complicated profession system, unbalanced classes, lack of open-world content and lack of new features.

Every other MMO nowadays has things like player housing, color palettes for hair and skin tone, sliders, and just overall normal customization options. But when you look at WoW, none of that exists. Absolutely nothing. And the graphics... oh boy, and they still demand so much money for something like this. Not only for the expansion, but also every month and an additional store on top of that.

The story in the game has also become complete garbage by now. Don't even get me started on the gameplay regarding classes or the bugs in this expansion or that awful looking Dracthyr race, that can't even wear clothes and is only allowed to be a female human and male blood elf in visage, because giving all races dragon eyes is too much work, I guess? Those devs, jeez...

I have no idea why I gave WoW another chance after being disappointed countless times before. It's really not worth it.

The professions have been more or less flushed down the toilet; the system is that nonsensical.
Armor is still not dyeable and consists of the same sets from over 15 years ago, instead of designing proper armor that doesn't look glued to the avatar.
The game's story has become catastrophically bad in recent years.
The new race, the Dracthyr, are remodelled female Worgen who can't even assume different forms from all races like real dragons. They also can't fly properly or even wear clothes. Nope, not a joke. It can hardly get lazier.
Speaking of laziness, it's 2023, this is an MMO... and there's still no player housing.
The classes are still unbalanced, and there are still unnecessary restrictions on social interaction. Players are still strictly separated from each other if they're not in the same faction. Normal chatting is not possible, trading is not possible, LFR/LFD, questing is not possible. It's just frustrating.

Unfortunately that's not the only thing, which is really bad about wow.

wow looks like a mobile game and the p2w elements don't help either, though let's be real here, even mobile games these days have better graphics, more customization options and in general more stuff going on than in this mmo, that doesn't even allow you to properly play with your friends, let alone let you choose your preferred race with your preferred faction, wihout forcing you to participate in an outdated system, that relies on racism.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is somehow a breath of fresh air and a celebration of classic design principles in equal measure. The return to more dynamic, old-school talent trees enhances the class fantasy with a seasoning of new abilities across the board. At the same time, the retreat of pressuring, artificial power-gating systems promotes a more healthy gameplay loop. The game is also gorgeous, with a more promising storyline, elevated cinematic delivery mechanics, and deeper core systems which make for one of WoW's best expansions in years.

I appreciate the new interface (it needs getting used to though) and talent system (those dilemmas!), as well as changes to crafting that raise its importance. I enjoyed dragonriding a lot and found quests to be engaging, but was disappointed by dull dungeons and repetitive endgame content. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is a pretty safe expansion and I expected a bit more from it, but I do feel it has a huge potential that could be fulfilled in the near future.
