The profession system has become unnecessarily confusing and tedious, with grinds upon grinds upon grinds.

But the real kicker as mentioned by others is the dated restrictions they still have in place, like the questionable race division between factions. They're still forcing players to choose a certain faction just because they want to look a certain way. And speaking of looks, the uneven and limited customization options between races are a joke.

And did I mention that there's still no player housing after all these years? Come on, Blizzard, get with the times, same goes for your visuals.

There are more things, like there are bugs everywhere in this expansion, It's frustrating to play a game that's so broken, and it makes you wonder if Blizzard even cares about there players.

And last but not least, the unbalanced classes. It's like Blizzard can't figure out how to make them all equally powerful, so they just let some classes dominate while others are left in the dust.

Seeing as how hard the devs are trying to appear progressive now after that lawsuit against them (everyone can read about the horrible things they did) and how much lgbtq characters and stories they recently put in the game and even removed the gender option of players, so that everyone is now non-binary... they still kept their racist faction system as the core of wow.
Just makes you laugh really, because of how hypocritical this whole company is. Pretening to be pro lgbt, but also be pro racism with racial segregation during the faction "choice" process.
    Some mental gymnastics right here.

I feel like all the other issues this game has or at least most of them are pretty much already mentioned and they are just as bad, but for me their hypocrisy is the most annoying part and I certainly don't want to support developers with such a twisted mindset.

Speaking of outdated elements, let's talk about the class and faction limitations. Want to play a certain class? Too bad, it's probably unbalanced and you'll be at a disadvantage.
Want to join a certain faction? Sorry, the game's faction system is so dated and racist that it feels like it was designed by a group of pre-schoolers who just learned what stereotypes were. Racial segregation is such a great feature, right? Right??

The loot system is also a complete mess.
Good luck trying to get anything worthwhile when playing in a group, because you're either going to have to fight your teammates tooth and nail or just accept the fact that you'll be stuck with the scraps.
But hey, at least there's plenty of grinding to keep you occupied, right? That's right, you'll spend countless hours repeating the same tasks over and over again, all in the name of some vague sense of progression... I guess?
And let's not forget about the complete lack of meaningful RPG activities. The reason why I tried out this game in the first place. Player housing? Customization options? Pfft, who needs those when you can spend all your time grinding for better gear that will be outdated in the next patch.

The communication from the devs or rather, the lack thereof. It's as if they enjoy keeping their players in the dark and making biased decisions that favor certain players over others. But hey, who needs fairness and equality when you can just keep milking your fanbase for every penny they're worth, right?

If you're looking for a proper RPG experience however, you might as well look elsewhere, because WoW lost that aspect years ago.

The open world looks like it hasn't been updated since the early 2000s, and the player models are just embarrassing. No sliders, no color palettes, no nothing. Yes, new zones have good visuals, but that's like what? 25% of the overall world? It's like the devs are just phoning it in at this point.

But the real problem with WoW is the lack of immersion.
There's no class identity, the storytelling is cringeworthy and constantly retconned, still no player housing and the toxic restrictions the devs force upon players are just infuriating. Seriously, who builds their two faction system upon racism and then tries to claim they're progressive because they've thrown in a few LGBTQ stories and characters?
It's hypocritical at best and downright a frustrating restriction for players.

And even if you are interested in the bad story of the game, you're not even allowed to see it unless you spend days, or even weeks, grinding for renown. The whole game seems to be designed to be as repetitive as possible, just to milk players' monthly subscription fees.

In short, if you're looking for a game that's worth your time and money Dragonflight is definitely not it. At least so far, but the next patch looks just as bad.
Unless, of course, you're content with mindless button mashing and don't mind throwing your money away on a game that's lost its way.

The bugs in this expansion are enough to make any player want to quit.
    Then the glaring class imbalances.
And what's with the racial segregation? We should be able to play any race in any faction without feeling like we're betraying some archaic and racist mindset, which the devs put in this game. But no, all races still have a hivemind instead of free will like the Pandaren and that weird looking new race Dracthyr.
It's frustrating for players who can't play their favorite races in their favorite faction.

Then the story... It's poorly written and lacks any real depth.

Dragonflight is a disappointing expansion for me that fails to deliver on almost every level.
From the poorly aged character models to the outdated graphics and bugs, it's clear that this expansion was not given the attention it deserved.

Ah, Dragonflight, where do I even begin? Well, for starters, it seems the developers are resorting to some cheap tricks to keep their players shelling out that monthly subscription fee. I mean, who wants to grind for renown all day? It's about as exciting as watching a Murloc knit a sweater. And don't even get me started on how they lock the story behind that tedious grind.

But wait, there's more! The trading post is another tactic. They change the items each month, creating a feeling of FOMO, like we're missing out on the best gear or mounts. It's good to give more cosmetics, but with the trading post they don't tell you when exactly you will see those items again.
Now, let's talk about the loot situation. It's like the developers want us to suffer. They dangle the carrot of epic loot in front of our faces, but it's always just out of reach, depending on pure luck.

And let's not forget about the developers' hypocrisy.
They've added several lgbtq+ elements to the game, hoping to improve their reputation after the lawsuits against them. But at the same time, they stick to a very strong form of racism in their game. I'm talking about the racial segregation of playable races between factions. It's not just ethically questionable, it's also terrible for the player experience. Players are forced to choose a faction based on the race they want to be. Veeeeeery progressive... not.

And finally, let's talk about the lack of fresh content. Dragonflight is like a stale piece of bread that's been left out in the sun for too long. The developers seem to be relying on recycled old systems, rather than coming up with anything new and exciting.

So, there you have it, folks. I'm not impressed at all and the coming patch will give us more... more recycled stuff. I might change this review with 10.2, if they'll actually add something new and improve bad stuff like their racist foundation, but so far? No thanks, there are better games out there.

Dragonflight, the newest expansion, has me left disappointed with its lackluster features, numerous bugs, and outdated design choices. While some may still find enjoyment in the game, it's hard to overlook the significant flaws that plague this expansion.

One of the biggest problems with Dragonflight is the number of bugs. From game-breaking glitches to minor annoyances, the sheer volume of bugs makes the game feel unfinished and unpolished. It's frustrating to encounter problems that could have easily been fixed before release.

Another issue is the class imbalance, which makes certain classes feel op while others are left in the dust. It's a problem that has been present in previous expansions, but it's disappointing to see it still exists in Dragonflight.
The profession and crafting system is another letdown, with few improvements made from previous expansions.
Despite the game's longevity, there is still no player housing system. This is a common feature in modern MMOs, and its absence in wow is a significant disappointment for players who want to create a personal space in the game. Additionally, many modern MMO features are lacking, making wow feel outdated compared to its competitors.

The new playable race, Dracthyr, is also a letdown. Not only is it a boring looking, but its limited options for visage customization are baffling. A dragon should be able to take on the appearance of any race, not just male blood elf and female human. This restriction makes little sense and is a missed opportunity for players to create unique characters.
The avatar models for the existing races are outdated and lack customization options. The transmog system is also outdated, and many sets use the same designs with different colors.
WoW also still suffers from too much focus on e-sports and not enough on actual MMORPG content. The game's racial segregation is still in place, which means that players cannot choose their favorite faction and races together. This outdated faction system is holding the game back in free player choice.

The story in Dragonflight is locked behind a grindy renown system, which makes it difficult to fully experience the game's narrative. The storytelling itself is also lackluster, with little depth or nuance. This is a significant disappointment again.

Finally, the graphics in many zones of the old world are very, very, very dated and unimpressive. The game feels more or less the same as it has for years, with few new additions to make it feel fresh and exciting. Dragonflight is a disappointing expansion so far that fails to live up to the expectations of its players.

It's frustrating to spend hours battling through dungeons or raids, only to receive sub-par loot that isn't even suitable for your character's class or specialization. This system also promotes selfishness among players, as everyone is trying to snag the best items for themselves. It's a shame that Blizzard didn't address this issue before releasing the expansion.

Another major flaw is the outdated segregation of playable races. It's disappointing that players are still forced to choose between Horde and Alliance factions and cannot play as all races on either side. This limits players' choices and can lead to frustration when wanting to play a specific race on the opposite faction. It's time for Blizzard to move past this outdated system and provide players with more freedom in character creation.

The profession system in Dragonflight is also complicated and convoluted. The crafting process is needlessly complicated, making it difficult to craft useful items for your character. It's frustrating to have to spend hours researching and crafting to create something that isn't even that great. The profession system needs a complete overhaul to make it more accessible and user-friendly.

The class balancing in Dragonflight is also unimpressive. Some classes are just much more powerful than others, which leads to an unfair advantage in PvP and PvE situations. This imbalance can make the game less enjoyable for those who don't play the strongest classes, and it's an issue that needs to be addressed.

The new race, Drakthyr, is also rather uncreative. Additionally, the fact that it can't use all playable races for its visage is a letdown.

Finally, apart from the new feature of dragon riding, there aren't many new features in Dragonflight. It feels like a missed opportunity for Blizzard to introduce innovative gameplay mechanics and fresh content that would keep players invested in the game.

In conclusion, while Dragonflight has its moments, it ultimately falls short of expectations due to its flawed loot system, outdated race segregation, complicated profession system, unbalanced classes, lack of open-world content and lack of new features.

It is astonishing that Blizzard is charging us for such a bad expansion. Given how many bugs there are and how little new things they added, they should pay us for testing the game, because it plays like a Beta. Might be a little harsh on my part, but this expansion really is half-baked so far.

Let's start with so-called new features:
Dragon flying. It's good to let players fly right at the beginning, but it is not really flying. It is a watered-down version of the flying system in Guild Wars 2.
I am not in general against copying features from other games, but they should at least do it right. Dragon riding in wow is not good and so far we can only use four mounts in the new zone. Not fun.

Dracthyr is an overhauled female Worgen model, which even kept some of the Worgen animations like the sitting pose. Not very innovative. The design by itself is in my opinion meh, especially the head is really tiny compared to the body.
What bothers me the most however is the fact, that despite it being a dragon, the dracthyr can't use all playable races for visage, but only female human and blood elf. That and in dragon form they can't use transmogs.
All in all this race looks like a last minute project, which never got finished.

I wish there would be more new features, but that is pretty much all. So I fully understand people complaining that they got shafted with this expansion. Blizzard gave us more of the same, but of course charged us anyway for this expansion.

I think what they should do in order to save this expansion is:
Adding all playable races for visage and to give the dragon form transmogs.
Making all races neutral and available for both factions asap. As many stated, racism should not be a pillar of this game.
Get skilled devs for the classes.
Update the graphics, models and expand on the customizations (no, not just 5 more hair colors every few months. That is laughable and pretty embarrassing).
Add mmorpg features, instead of making everying about e-sport.
Fixing the lore. Not sure if that is still possible after the last expansions, but a mmorpg with cringe story like the one in wow is not really fun to play.

And so we meet another limitation, because unlike dragons the Dracthyr can only use male blood elf and female human for visage.
Why? Probably because the devs are lazy like always.
I can only repeat other people, but it is true, after almost 20 years there are still no updates for the visuals in this game. Most zones look hideous in wow.

Another point I'd like to agree on is the criticism regarding racism in wow.
The whole game uses racism as it's foundation. Let that sink in.
Even though we are living in the 21. century. Racial segregation is not treated as bad, but as good for the faction system of Horde and Alliance. Race is more important than value. I think I don't need to add more.
It's both from a gameplay perspective and from an ethical point of view a really bad restriction for the community. Races should be neutral, yet they aren't. Race is more important than anything else in this game. The way you look is what dictates what faction you are allowed to join.

While dragon riding as the only new feature in this expansion makes travel across the dragon isles easier than in previous expansions, it becomes boring very fast. because we aren't allowed to use our normal mounts and dragon riding is also really bad for farming.

Other than that there is really not much to talk about. Pretty much the same old restrictions, limitations and lack of standard mmo features like player housing. Not really a game I would recommend.

The professions (which used to be fun to some extent) is now broken beyond belief. And you have to grind rep with factions to be able to fully do the professions, that's if you put in the effort to learn the awful new broken system in the first place.
The dragon flying is a chore at best, and the terrible design of the landscape means you need to occasionally try to fly places in order to get there at all. As others have stated, the concept was copied from Guild Wars 2, but somehow made less fun.
The storyline is completely boring, and I cannot find it in me to care about any of it.
You may ask why I bought it? Because I had heard it was better than Shadowlands, and because the critic reviews didn't seem too bad. They were wrong, it's awful.
You may ask why I still subscribe? Because I enjoy World of Warcraft Classic, which is the only reason to continue to subscribe to the game at all. I can still enjoy VERY old content. World of Warcraft hasn't actually been a good game in years. Such a pity.

Seriously, do not go in voice chat, if you want to run a raid or dungeon. If other player notice you have a dialect, instead of pure American english, they will harass you. The developers are also more into a spam dungeon type game vs giving us an actual mmo. In short, same old game with the same outdated stuff and mentality.

Then all the myriad issues with the traders system, the botched key scaling that took too long to solve, and just overall the DF dungeons being tedious to play due to all the interrupts.
Renown has too much tied up into it. Professions are annoyingly over complicated and you will have no fun healing in dungeons. That I can guarantee you.

The devs just never learn, even after 2 big failures they bring out another failure of expansion.

If you didn't like the previous expansion you won't like this one. Simply because for some reason the devs just keep holding on to the same archaic stuff, that clearly didn't work, but they keep it anyway. This constant raid, m+ or die mentality is incredibly hurtful to the game, because

Simply because for some reason the devs just keep holding on to the same archaic stuff, that clearly didn't work, but they keep it anyway. This constant raid, m+ or die mentality is incredibly hurtful to the game, because they sell it as a mmorpg, yet it has become nothing but an e-sport game and even at that it is bad, because they can't balance classes properly.

Regarding rpg you get almost nothing and definitely nothing new. This game is now 18 years or so old. Normal devs, especially those with so much money on their hands like Blizzard, would maybe start updating their game, the graphics, the player models, customizations, normal features for today's games like player housing and proper gear... they ignore all of it. Like literally all of it.
This game's world is a dumpster fire to put it lightly and ugly to look at, beginning with the character selection screen, which not only forces you to take part in a racist faction system based on racial segregation, it also gives you poorly aged avatars, that didn't even receive basic things like sliders and color pallets over the last two decades.

Professions aren't fun either. It feels like a gold sink and if you do alts, it feels like a job. It feels now like a chore to do more quests to keep up with the knowledge points so professions are taking up even more time, arbitrarily for barely any return. The crafting order system is truly a nightmare. Even crafting consumables for yourself is a gold loss because the mats cost more than the product does on the auction house.

To call this expansion bare-bones and lackluster would be an understatement.
There is nothing new, nothing that could keep players in the game for more than a month apart from raids and m+... as per usual. A huge letdown yet again.
No player housing. No free faction choice, still racism. Still visuals from 2005. Still a messy world with inappropriate time lines all over the place. No

No noteworthy customizations and model updates.Class balance is a mess. Solo shuffle has 40 minutes queue times for dps. Meta is horrible for healers. Group loot makes the community even more toxic than it was before. The crafting system is a mess. You constantly stumble over dozens of bugs. The new race is just a reskin and not actually new and despite it being a dragon it doesn't even let you choose all of the playable races for visage. Not good so far. Really, really not good. Maybe better than bfa, wod and sl, but that is a very low bar.

Guess it is time to just give up on this dated game.

Racism is the very cornerstone of this game. You can't choose the faction you like and at the same time all the races you like, because racial segregation ist still a thing in this game. Considering the kind of devs, who work on this game it doesn't come as a surprise, though. The story, while bad and not really worth getting into

The story, while bad and not really worth getting into after Legion, is locked yet again behind a gigantic renown grind. Why? Because the devs love your monthly sub fee.
While fair play is a foreign word in this game, because of class imbalance, you wouldn't even want to participate in raiding. Dungeons and raids this time around are very boring.
This game is also dated when it comes to it's graphics, no player housing, awful gear and clunky looking player models with almost no customizations.
The world feels empty, even though my realm is supposed to be full. You really see how many players left over the last few years. wow almost feels like a ghost town these days.
A ton of bugs in this expansion aren't helping either. Can't give it more than 2 points so far.

I really don't know if they can save this expansion. We will see.

DF is "better" than SL in some ways. There is no borrowed power that you need to grind for, which is a good thing, and there is a new flight mechanic that is more modern and active.

But, at least for me, the game play loop is really tedious... The dungeons in M+, for me, feel terrible. The new way of achievming KSM is kinda bad too. The new raid is, at least for me, is really boring...

I've been playing FFXIV for the last year... It's just so much better in every way possible. I came back to try DF because I feel like WoW is my "home"... But it's just so bad... And we're not even talking about the lore... The game history got better since SL, but it still terrible.

And now the best part... They introduced a "battle pass"... Now you can always have that delicious FOMO we all know and love...

Blizzard is dead and gone, no reason to keep playing their stuff... I'll probably try the next expansion, but yeah... We have better options right now

Dragonflight is still de facto at the beginning of its life cycle. Still, one can't help feeling that we desperately needed an adventure like this. With all its pros and cons. [Issue#325]

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is somehow a breath of fresh air and a celebration of classic design principles in equal measure. The return to more dynamic, old-school talent trees enhances the class fantasy with a seasoning of new abilities across the board. At the same time, the retreat of pressuring, artificial power-gating systems promotes a more healthy gameplay loop. The game is also gorgeous, with a more promising storyline, elevated cinematic delivery mechanics, and deeper core systems which make for one of WoW's best expansions in years.

I appreciate the new interface (it needs getting used to though) and talent system (those dilemmas!), as well as changes to crafting that raise its importance. I enjoyed dragonriding a lot and found quests to be engaging, but was disappointed by dull dungeons and repetitive endgame content. World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is a pretty safe expansion and I expected a bit more from it, but I do feel it has a huge potential that could be fulfilled in the near future.
