Worst of the worst. Horrible boring gameplay and nonsensical story that craps on everything that was good in the past. Avoid like the plague.

This isnt even worth to be called **** because **** could be used as fertilizer or even fuel. This costs you money and you do not get anything out of it. Think of something worthless and then imagine you have to pay for it.

They try to turn this game into an esport with MDI, Arenas championships and mythic raid races. The difference between sports and esports is that everyone have the same advantages and tools for esports, which is nice, but isnt the case for these clowns. The rush to release garbage has never been so strong with this company. I remember how I used to call them Blizzard. Now, they are but a shadow of a glorious past. You would think they will learn. But they don't. They are the elder child that we had so much hope for that turned out to be a dissapointement and no one wants to talk about him.

Customer support is garbage as well. Automated messages instead of GM talking to you to resolve issues, you get the ban hammer for reasons you have no idea and they wont give you reason. Just the ban.

I used to love this game(and company), no matter the stupid **** they came up with, but now it just feels like we're being laugh at and told what we should like and what we shouldn't. If any other gaming company that would step up and give what Blizzard(f*uck you Activision) used to give us, if you are out there, make us a sign. We're waiting for you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lazy for Subs is just lazy and awful form all angles.

Gameplay: Slow and weak with gear level scaling after years of feeling like a god form WOTLK, it is very off putting. The stat squish is way over tuned and made leveling form 1 to 120 a bore. Endgame is slow slog that we don't have flying and 80 percent of the endgame is just rep grinding with world quests. The opposite faction island dont have flight paths till we do the long *&* war campigan to unlock more paths and more is opened after revered. Better enjoy those long jogs on that mount because it a long run.

leveling Dungeons is nerfed to heck and pointless. Happiness is swinging a epic sword 20 times at a squirrel.

Classes again is unbalanced, just roll a rogue or a hunter and win. Even with the baby numbers we do now, they cant get classes like druids right. So the Blizzard solution is always to wait to the next patch and roll a top class or a spec. They are the master of the favor of the month.

No new talents or spells at 120 and the new Azerite gear made the game just mining for Azerite. The traits is boring and again it no options to choice what we want, just get Thunderous Blast and call it a day. The better the armor the more mining have to done just to unlock the traits. SO again at 120, they can just call it a fantasy mining RPG. My last tier Azerite armor better have diamonds, platinum and gold on it.

War fronts is boring and only good for loot and the mining simulator, errr islands is junk also. Why cant we loot and RP as pirates?

Story: You wont think it was no war at all once you land on the islands and quest that same old junk with a new skin. The alliance is just copy pasta form old RPGs and stories. They really missed the mark with the pirate theme. land based pirates that don't loot the islands??? The Horde have the troll lore that have not been overused to death but the sense of a world war is missing. The War campaign is so spaced out that we doing world quests to complete it, than feeling like in on a war front.

Allied races: My my, why do we need to beg these people to join us after saving their (*&*( and needing to do chores like I am the karate kid huh? I protected and saved the people form doom but I need exalted rep to even unlock them. I see them walking around in some of the cites and it a recruiting hall but nah got to grind. This the biggest cover up in the expansion of all. It is stupid lore wise and just a gate to get subs running. ( add to that, to get the new armor skins that one need to level each races to 110 and leveling is at the slowest with the only real option to quest with everything else nerfed and cant buy a boost to skip it.)

Music: its good but the great budget cuts took its toll and it just very short loops than the full rich scores form the older expansions.

Art: Why remove tier armor for Azerite gear? The leveling armor looks better than the raid gear and leveling gear should look like &*&^. The zones looks good and more high rez but that alone wont cut it. The problem is that path finding again rears its ugly head and looking for some rares or a way down a mountain is a chore.

Overall: We went form great champions that saved the world to miners that looking for rocks and beggars that have to do chores to unlock everything. The freedom to choose our adventure is gone and we have endless forced events if we like to run raids or Mythic plus on the side or spend like 6 hour or more a day before enjoying anything else. Grinding is everything BFA stands of.

Grinding for Azerite gets a zero form me.

Riddled with bugs that not only breaks immersion but also game systems causing frustration as never seen before since it's original release, World of Warcraft now tries to dumb down the game even more with it's latest expansion "Battle for Azeroth", or as the community dubs it: "Beta of Azeroth".

Coming from a temporary high that the expansion dubbed Legion set, the gameplay gets more bare-boned than ever and many, many things are put in without the polish Blizzard Entertainment has previously been known for. Gamebreaking bugs that causes disconnects and loss of content is an everyday occurrence, and with each passing day it feels more and more like you are still playing on the Beta server.

For new players the game drags on incredibly hard with no reward besides a number by your portrait which denotes your level. Rewards like new spells or abilities to change up the gameplay can take as much as 20 levels to come across, something that could equal several days for any player with just an hour or two of time to play, and at max level still doesn't feel different enough.

When finally at the end-game where the real game begins. There are a lot of things to do in Battle for Azeroth, but for seasoned players, many of the now old systems have been watered down to be incredibly unrewarding when compared to past expansion that it feels bad and more of a chore to do them. Incentive is lacking and the few additions made to the game also follow down this path. Also, for some reason, a lot of the systems and mechanics in place have no explanation to be found in-game and forces you to visit World of Warcraft's website and search for articles or forums posts made by the developers. In some cases, the most recent being a topic on a mechanic called "Reorigination Array", you are even forced to use third-party sites to get to know how it works, and this is a VERY important mechanic in current content! It took Blizzard a few weeks and three long paragraphs, something comparable to a short essay as forum posts go, to explain it. And if you don't choose to scour World of Warcraft's own website or third-party sites for this information, you have no idea that it even exists in the background as a hidden, but very important to do, mechanic! This is unacceptable!

Now, probably the biggest damning thing this expansion has going for it is the lack of choices the players can make. There has never been less customisation of how to progress in the game as far as rewards go and there are less skill ceilings on every class. There's not only no incentive to learn the intricacies of a class, they are not even there. Blizzard has homogenised the game and it's systems so much that it's no longer a world to explore, but rather a roller coaster where you are simply along for the ride.

It's not all bad though, thankfully. In Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard has made the world alive again with the addition of a mode called War Mode, an option that gives players extra rewards at the cost of opening themselves up to player vs. player combat in the world, something that has been considered almost dead before this expansion. The first raid, a challenge done with up to 30 people, seems to have been generally positively received. If you only play this game to this type of content raid and do not do anything else, you might like this expansion. That is, if you can get over how slow and dumbed-down the gameplay has become.

Unfortunately, all in all, Battle for Azeroth scares away new players with a slow and tedious introduction with no feeling of accomplishment or reward for working their way towards the end-game where the real content of any World of Warcraft expansion begins. Seasoned players are met with bland systems, removed choices for progression, less incentives to do content and a flood of bugs. It all feels incomplete and Blizzard has stated publicly that the game might feel barren now, but that it will feel better after a couple of updates towards the end of the expansion where systems will finally make sense, and why they are so barren now.

Going by Blizzard's statements, sit this one out for now and come back in a year when the systems have gotten their content they are supposed to have, and should have had on release. That is, if you can cope with being forced to progress the only way the game makes you at the mercy of dice rolls, the homogenised gameplay with no incentive or rewards, and no real feeling of accomplishment of mastering the game.

Summary: Azeroth paid a terrible price to end the apocalyptic march of the Legion's crusade, and it shows.

Verdict: Wait a year or until next expansion.

Welcome to Battle for Azeroth! Enter the continents of Kul Tiras and Zandalar and quest your way to level 120 and then repeat the very same quests that you did to get there but now in the form of WORLD QUESTS that reward DEPRESSING amounts of GODLY AZERITE to SMITE YOUR foes. Enter the fight as a Lv110 god-like hero, defeating hordes of enemies on your own because once you hit Lv120 the very same mobs will be KICKING your ASS. That's right, KICKING your ASS! Because you'll become much weaker. Enjoy running a dungeon for 20 times before you get your first drop, but that's okay because dungeons are filled with packs of TRASH, ONE after the OTHER!

Activate Warmode as a Horde and enjoy all the benefits that come with it such as 10% extra Exp or activate it as an Alliance player and get ganked every 10 seconds.

Despite insisting on keeping WoW as a game of two factions, the developers clearly favor the Horde, giving them more story, more cinematics, better racials and even the first shot at new content. They cannot separate the player from the developer, so they continue with their Horde bias, and the only people that deny it are the Horde players.

The story is terrible, it's like they took some random Tumblr fanfic and put it into the game. The writers continue to rely on plot holes to advance the story in the favor of the Horde. Sometimes I'm not sure if WoW is being developed by Disney considering the current villains, I expect them to start singing anytime they appear.

Transmog, which has become the endgame for many is truly disappointing this expansion. There's just a handful of sets added and on top of that, class sets are gone so now every class of the same type of armor looks the same. You'd think that still recycling meshes from 10 year old content and a lot of the gear being nothing but body-paint allowed Blizzard to develop more gear sets but you'd be wrong. making helmets, shoulders and belt buckles take all of Blizzard's artistic manpower but hey, at least the frogs have better models now!

Battle for Azeroth's major features are disappointing.

The Heart of Azeroth and Azerite Gear are basically the Artifact weapon and Netherlight Crucible, but now they have a different name to make you think it's entirely new. You're gonna spend the entire expansion farming for Azerite (Just like how you spent the entirety of Legion farming Artifact Power) so you can unlock Azerite traits from the Azerite gear, which are like the relic traits that you unlocked in Legion. The level of the Heart of Azeroth determines how many traits you can unlock in every piece. You need to level the HoA over and over if you can unlock the traits of higher ilvl gear.

Island Expenditions are a 3 player scenario where you need to collect a certain quantity of Azerite before the other team does. Anything you do rewards Azerite, so... it's like doing the same things you do outside, but now you are racing against other players.

Warfronts are 20 player scenarios where the only way you can lose is if everyone goes afk. It's dumb, brain dead content, but at least it gives players nice looking glamour. However, here's the problem. Just like everything else if BFA, it's time gated. The Warfront is only available for one week a month per faction. The Horde got access to the Warfront itself first because why wouldn't they? The developers play Horde so they want access to it first. The only requirement for Warfront was to be level 120, allowing Horde playes to gear up all their brand lv120 alts and have them ready for raid, and then they patched it to require a minimum of ilvl 320 to enter, which isn't high but it means that no Alliance player will be able to gear up their brand new 120s.

There was a beta for months, yet Blizzard ignored most of the feedback and released this pathetic excuse for an expansion, filled with bugs. Just a month into the expansion and terrible bugs keep showing up, Blizzard used to say that they release things when they are ready, but clearly that motto died when the good people of Blizzard left. The director, Ion Hazzikostas does not care about player feedback, he has decided he's the person who decides what is fun and what isn't. This is what happens when you put a player with no experience in video game development at the head of a game. Unprofessional attitude towards the players and constantly telling players who chose Alliance to switch to Horde if they want the good stuff.

But worry not! Should this expansion fold like Warlords of Draenor did, they will just wrap it up and announce Return of the Lich King, with all the villains that you killed 10 years ago back again because villains being dead has never stopped Blizzard from recycling them for future content. Enjoy Dalaran for the third time.

Unfortunately, this MMORPG is losing the RPG part more and more with every major patch.

The plot is meh, but this time around you can't even experience most of it without a character on the opposing fraction, which is, essentially, nothing more than a ploy to force you into spending more time on the game.

Leveling doesn't feel like an improvement for the character, as does gearing: thanks to scaling (in both PvE and PvP) the impact of you having better equipment is no longer as noticeable as it was before.

Class design is almost unchanged as compared to Legion, with the exception of features being removed rather than added. Remaining class features are extremely often locked behind a wall of grind in the form of a new artifact.

Quality control has also shat the bed this time around, probably as a result of beta test keys being given out mostly to streamers for free promotion; the game is filled with bugs and underdeveloped design decisions.

2 points for the work of the sound and visual designers, other than that this game in it's current state is the worst it's ever been.

Content: Well, there are two new islands, but the story is downright absent. You come to Kul Tiras, watch a cutscene, run a short dungeon and off you go sidequesting. If you absolutely want to see a resolution for the initial conflict, you better hit up the wiki because most of your plot progression quests make no sense whatsoever - they're there to drag you around the zone on a forced sightseeing tour, not to tell you a story.

PvP: What PvP? World PvP is dead and organized PvP is just the same as before, except with even less incentive to do it.

Poor gameplay elements makes for an unfun experience through the World. Instead of getting stronger each expansion as it used to be, you grow weaker and lose essentially everything going forward. More gets removed each expansion, instead of gaining more things.

Island Expedition has an issue with Heart of Azeroth / Azerite system not being interesting therefore the rewards are neither attractive or motivating,

Warfronts, Allied Races, even the War Campaigns are time gated. The biggest difference and the problem of this expansion is that, the stench of EA-esque, business-friendly ideas are EVERYWHERE, and extremely obvious.

I'm not one to blame corporations trying to make money, however, BfA feels like an unfinished college student's project that has shiny cover art and words, but no substance. I've never seen a WoW expansion feeling so rushed, unfinished and business-oriented. Do not subscribe or purchase the game if you expected a polished and finished game product.

The game suffers from an over abundance of RNG and grinding. You have to grind out everything to include the new trait Azerite. There comes a point when the the player base is just plain tired of grinding and they have reached that point. Blizz needs to start to rethink the game and return to what made it great.

World of Warcraft has turned into a massive RNG Casino. Every facet of this expansion is a slot machine. It's a huge addictive slot machine RNG Loot Box which feels like it's straight out of the EA playbook.

World Boss drops = Good luck even getting a piece to drop. Waste literal thousands of gold on re-roll tokens for chump change gold reward or a bit Azerite Power which in the end will mean NOTHING. All the azerite you grind out during this expansion will amount to NOTHING!!! It's all meaningless.

Azerite Gear = The whole system is trash. Hope for a piece to drop on top of hoping for titan forging on top of hoping for a good ability to be on the piece of gear. (How many pieces do you have to farm to get all that to happen? Don't forget it might not even drop, so how many times will you kill that boss?)

It's all just a gigantic RGN Casino. The game has no soul, It's got nothing to offer. It squeezes time from your life requiring you to re-subscribe by time gating or making you grind out worthless crap that takes so long to get you WILL pay for another month subscription for something Blizzard hardly even put any effort into for example Re-Skinned models called "New Races"

The game just feels like it's on autopilot. Like it's driving straight for a cliff and Blizzard just doesn't give a damn.

It feels like EA and Activision created this expansion and told Blizzard to claim it as their own. It's a money grubbing soul less expansion made by CEO's who have never played a game a day in their life.

Leveling and questing is atrocious. The mobs are so tough now that they don't go down in 3 hits even if you have good gear. This is a major problem when coupled with the slow gameplay created by the new GCD system as well as resource starvation on some classes like rogues, monks and feral druids, making for a very unfun and annoying gameplay.

Also, I'm tired with how much Blizzard enjoys **** on Alliance, both lore-wise and game-wise. It's like Blizzard is making a reverse Saturday morning cartoon where the bad guys are the protagonists, and the good guys are a joke. Which could be a funny idea for an actual TV show, but not when your chosen faction is the joke of the show.

I can't believe I quit this game only 3 weeks after the release of the expansion. This never happened before.
Cancelled sub and uinstalled. I'm done with WoW with the foreseeable future, and also done with Blizzard games, as WoW was really the only thing I was interested in playing.

The only thing to do is pull a FFXIV and apologize for this mess and then take it back to the drawing board, but then we know Western companies lack the honor to admit their mistakes.

Blizz made a gorgeous world, but they forgot to add gameplay. Currently nothing works as they had intended. Warfronts? Nope. Expeditions? Nope. Warmode? HAHAHA no! You could even ask yourself why the hell we grow ten levels, because it's just numbers in scaling content. If you take a level 110 from legion in the best Legion gear and lock the xp gain, you'd be better, faster and even more competitive in pvp. it's that poorly designed, it's mind-boggling.

WoW has come to a point where where it's just no longer an rpg, and one can question why it's still an MMO, since player interaction is hardly a thing, even in instances. It's a story rich hack and slash with some sidefluff that really doesn't serve a purpose: professions, pvp, more grinding. Secondary professions are either pointless and they even removed one: first aid.
I understand that, because every class now has a self heal. They also all have a temp damage reduction and a temp damage burst. They are mostly the same. They've balanced/pruned everything to such a degree that it hardly matters what you play. You just don't feel it.

Talent trees are well, not what you'd expect after 120 levels. If you'd join the game now, you'd have no idea what's going on. You just crash through irrelevant content with little progress to come to a point where all you do is grind - and for what? New races that are a slight variation of what we already know, so you can do it all over again in a different skin? The ability to fly which is by no means a necessity in these zones? Gear that doesn't do much for you because you haven't grinded enough Azerite? Where's the entertainment, the FUN?

Man, I really feel that Blizz finally went where most of the big names the whole gaming industry went: shiny, hyped-up, forcefully marketed and completely underwhelming once you play it. It might well have been an EA game. it feels like a cash-grab. With all the preparation I did to start BfA, I've even spent money on services to create the perfect toons for me to level through BfA... and I don't know what to do with them, I don't want to grind through all the time-gated stuff on all my alts.

And the bugs and problems are being silenced.
The full servers could to with free migration. Nope. You pay 25 euro per character for that, or you face a queue of an hour until you can log in. As an adult with a job, my spare time is limited and waiting is not something I like doing. Blizz just isn't listening to it's player base atm... I understand why, because almost everyone, from casual to raider to pvp-er to RP-er is complaining about how much of a turd this expansion is.

It looks great, the atmosphere and music are brilliant. The story is decent and fitting... but they just forgot to add the game elements. It's not a game to me, it feels like a visual novel that you get to grind through. it's work without pay. No character development, no character management. it's login, mount-up, grind until there's nothing to grind, and logout or burnout.

And then I unsubbed and went to a Vanilla private server, just to look how that was again. Just to feel what it was again that drew me to the game to begin with.
I could cry when I see the difference between the rich world of WoW versus the empty husk it has become. I'd choose imperfection and gameplay over visuals anytime.

Maybe I'm just no longer the target audience, but if this is what a modern MMORPG must look like, I really pity the current generations for not being able to experience what we did. It's a damn, damn shame.

Warfronts are not entertaining at all, Island expeditions I literally did once and never tried it again and then the whole way "Allied races" or sub races are being handled is honestly disappointing. At this point, BfA is virtually Legion lite. Clearly basing on the predecessor's success and trying to imitate it, BfA does not really do a good job.

Even though I didn't really enjoy being handed the most powerful weapons on Azeroth for a simple quest chain and hailed one of the greatest champions for mundane LFR difficulty content, artifact weapons and order halls were a fundamentally good concept. The lore was rich, the content was generous enough to sustain the player throughout the entire expansion. The artifact system offered a lightweight version of what was intended to be the Path of the Titans and in the era of omnipresent casualization, some added complexity of talent builds is always welcome. Now compare this with the joke that's known as Heart of Azeroth. Tens of models per class have been reduced to a single icon, moderately versatile artifact traits have been replaced with pathetic Azerite traits, which still fail to be balanced properly 3 months deep into the expansion, resulting in some very cookie cutter choices. A short and mundane quest chain handed out by the ever-annoying crystal (meth) dwarf takes place of dozens of quests in order halls The only thing that remains the same is the grind - but now there's only the stick without the carrot. Even the artificially-flavoured artifact power items have been overtaken by generic placeholders.

So what's out there to replace the lost content? The answer is simple - nothing. Island expeditions don't even get close to meeting the players' expectations. The follower and mission system is reiterated yet again, perhaps in the most dumbed down variant ever. Time-tried world quests and emissary system remain mostly unchanged, but the novelty is rapidly wearing out and reputation grinds don't offer anything interesting - there's no reason to ever participate in those unless you want to play a brown orc or a black dwarf. Dungeons are no different than ever and we've been treated with probably the worst Uld- family entry yet.

The zones are graphically as splendid as Blizzard spoiled us to expect, but narratively somehow fall short of the immersive plots presented in Legion. While it's relieving to look around and see something that's not a green, fel-ooze dripping demon-cave or arcwine-addled manascape, the areas feel largely insubstantial. Don't get me wrong, local plots with no impact on the grand scheme can still be excellent, but in this case not only they are wanting, but also contrast very heavily with the narration of previous expansions. In many cases, the stories appear to have no lasting effect or potential development even in the very region itself.

Alas, the cycle of expansions can be cruel - apart from TBC, every odd expansion has been rather odd indeed. I'm bewildered by the fact that Blizzard decided to drop the ball so low after the success Legion was. The game was almost at the right track and with proper nurture, it could relive its youth, but for some reason unbeknownst to us all we received Warlords of Despacito 2. While WoW is still a solid game and perhaps the only extant specimen of a successful MMO, I can't say I'm not disappointed. We can only hope the game will make it to the water deeper within the expansion lifespan.

I'm in no way a hardcore raider or player. I simply play each expansion until I get bored (usually within a few months) and then unsub and wait for the next expansion.

Out of all of the expansions I have played, BFA has been the worst...by far. Prior to buying, I do periodically check the WoW subreddit and it seemed like everyone hated it. I just assumed they hated it because the game end-game was repetitive. I figured it didn't apply to me since I'm casual and don't care for the end game grind plus Blizzard just released a big patch that was suppose to address the complaints... Boy was I soooooooo wrong. I wish I did more research before wasting money on this steaming pile of crap.

This is the first expansion ever where I want to quit before even reaching the level cap. It took me over 2 weeks to hit it because that's how bland and boring this expansion was. There are ZERO fun new additions in this expansion. No class revamps. No new expansion mechanics. Boring as hell story lines. It was just so bad, my character literally got weaker as I leveled up due to crappy item scaling and I got NO new skills or talents to play with. My class literally had the same skill as the last expansion! Well...technically it had less skills because they removed legion legendary skills. This didn't feel like an expansion whatsoever...it felt like a gimped Legion DLC with no class revamp, gutted legendary system, and gutted garrison system. Boring as hell even for a casual player. Who knew the real WoW killer was WoW itself.

In summary why BFA is not worth it:
    - No new expansion mechanic (MoP had farming, WoD had garrisons, Legion had class halls, BFA has NOTHING new)
    - No new class skills or new class mechanics. 0 Skills or talent from leveling from 110 to 120. Really boring experience unlike previous expansions
    - Bland and boring story. It just gets more cliche
    - Absolute terrible level experience. There are no fun incentives to level since you don't get any new skills, talents, or fun unlocks as you level up. Because of how item scales, you can actually notice your character getting weaker as you level due to item scaling...especially if you had a decent ilvl from Legion.
    - They added global cooldown for so many skills....why?
    - The features they kept from past expansions feels gimped. The follower system from WoD and Legion are still in BFA but it is a basic version of it. The legendary in BFA is a necklace and it's so boring. In Legion the legionaries were at least fun to discover with interesting quests, funnish upgrade system, and bonus challenges for unlocking appearances In BFA, they hand you a necklace and it has no special feature & no quest lines aside from the short quest to get it. Holy hell I feel just sleepy talking about it

BFA felt like a $10 DLC not an actual expansion. I wish I researched further before assuming the haters were just hardcore players. Even as a casual, this experience has been terrible.

Quest : I leveled both Zandalar and Kul Tiras, and I mostly more enjoyed the Zandalar quest in all of the zones. In Kul Tiras, homeland of the Proudmoore family, I liked the story of Drustvar and the story of Freehold, thats it.
Design : The design team does as always a good work, especially the horde locations looks nice!
Uniqueness : HOOORSES! Just look on the rewards for the reputation of Legion and BFA... That's just copy-paste horses with other armor...
120 content before raid launch : BOOORING, if you played legion the time was sooo short for the actual raid launch. You had to do the class campaign and Suramar, fishing artifact, profession quest. In BFA you have Islands, mythic 0 once at week, and the war campaign, that wasn't unique like Suramar.
120 content after raid launch : M+, Warfronts and the raid.
Island Expedition + Warfronts : Before the hotfix a lottery of possibility's to drop, but actual fun for the first 10 runs. After a month not so excited, but not everything must be good in a expension right? IE and Warfronts are something new they pushed to like it, like m+. Warfronts are boring, and they aren't like w3 in a mmo. Both have a solid concept but not ended. :>
    Mythic +
Dungeons : I like the mechanics, but their are like the Legion one, but it's okey, because you can't create tons of new mechanic. I like the style of the dungeons, and that are so many.
Mythic + : Are mostly like in legion, some tunes and changes, but overall still solid. The first weekly reset was weird, because all thought you get 3 items but whatever.
Bugs : War campaign bug at the begin of the exp, Freehold bug with the warlock portal, infinity contract, Class spell bug like poison bomb etc., Mythic+ sanguine dc bug, trinket bug, weapon from bosses that are normally should be a transmog and more! Most of my guildies called it Battle for Bugs, but whatever....
Azerite System : That can't replace the artifact from legion, neither leveling of it is fun or the trait's. In legion you wanted to grind this special trait that changed so much in your class. Not like in BFA, that they just boost a little bit of your DMG overall aswell the grind for one item that you can just loot from the weekly chest or one or two times from a boss in the raid. I don't liked, and now it looks okeish, with the vendor, but the traits are still useless.
Overall BFA had a good start, and then it was a flop. Blizzard thought that so much of the contect is enough for the community, but he was wrong, some rewards are bad and the azerite system is bad. As always you have the titanforge lottery, but it was okey with the other systems like in legion. In my opinion, BFA wasn't ready for launch till 8.3 with the changes, but whatever. I don't care anymore about the game, in Dreanor the people were mad about missing content, now are people leaving because they upset how Blizzard is bad. I will miss the community and the previous expension (even WoD), but I end my journey with this game till classic comes out. And if you would like to buy and play casually WoW, it's isn't worth any of those cent. =)

I have played so many hours that it is embarrassing to actually say it out loud and I have used a lot more real money than I like to admit.

From I started and all the way up to Mop I subbed the entire year, and loved every minute of it.
After Mop I played for 5 months before I unsubbed. The magic was gone.
When Wod came I played for 2 months, went away for 3-4 and played for 1 more.
It was almost the same with Legion. When Bfa came I played for a month at launch, stopped and played trough December before I unsubbed again, and this time it will be a really long time until I start another sub.

With every expansion it feels more and more stale. The story is completely gone, and so are the rewards for hours and hours of "work" you put in. Not to mention class balance ...
The irony is that my nephew that never played it before liked it, or at least he did until he started to notice the bugs, lag spikes, incompetent gm`s. and almost nonexistent support when he tried to get help. If you add cheaters, bots, premade pvp teams, a pretty toxic community, the greed on average gear and items in the ah a new player actually need to enjoy the game, i understand why he left and i pity the poor saps that actually bought and are playing this game for the first time.

Old expansion packs that would be fun to do a second time when leveling up new chars are nothing but a grind because everything that made that expansion fun (I use the word lightly) has been stripped out of the expansion as you move on to the next one. For example Legion. You spent forever leveling up the weapon you were forced to use then end the story the weapon is destroyed.. well a new person going through the expansion now does not get to level up there weapon they start with a destroyed weapon. Let players experience the zones as they were meant to be experienced!
This does not even touch on the numerous bugs in the game that are never fixed. Blizzard just does not care anymore. they need to hand the game to someone who cares or gets off their butts and actually do some good for the game. I love this game, and probably always will, not because of its gameplay as it can be a letdown, but mostly because i've been following the Warcraft (Multiverse now?) since Warcraft III with the Scourge of Lordaeron campaign, which for me was an introduction to the whole Heroic fantasy genre ( that and the release of LOTR), so I'm very biased and sentimental in my appreciation of the game, as long as the story keeps progressing I'm in.

This Expansion from an artistic point of view is a masterpiece, Neal Acree and whoever did the soundtrack with him have done an amazing job at recreating the right musical atmosphere, same for the cinematics and story evolution...those things are only one side of a coin, in order for them to be delivered, it has to go through gameplay, and man how much they got it wrong, they almost diluted all that hype and epic "moments" that the art team crafted for us.

Right now, compared to this time in the legion release, I'm pretty much bored from this expansion already, and thus because of the following points :

Me and literally all the people I play with dislike Island expeditions, even though we were pretty hype for it, they just feel soulless and are a step down from Pandaria Scenarios, where each scenario had a "story" behind it. In the case of Island expeditions it's basically just farm Azerite, couple this with Magni obsessing with it makes it anecdotical where the stakes were presented as being pretty serious with Azeroth being in the verge of collapse and what not, we don't really feel that as much in the game. In my opinion Cataclysm did a way better job to transmit that "urgency" feel of imminent doom.

The biggest frustration for me are Warfronts, it's basically all I ever wished from blizzard, bring back that WARCRAFT aspect in a PVE way, so I pretty much was very hype for it, especially after finding out that it has RTS elements. The fact that you only get to do it once every sub is a huge letdown as it's one of the major selling points, it's what is DIFFERENT from what you have done in the previous expansion. The funny part is that it lasts for like 15-20min? it lasts less than a dungeon, it's less challenging than a dungeon, and yet Uldir (which is a RAID) can be done more often than it - Which BTW is a great raid -

This point isn't very important but I still feel it has some relevance in the greater picture, tier sets are damn ugly, uninspired and a huge downgrade from what we were used to.
Speaking of gear, Azerite pieces are the most confusing mess i've ever seen since TBC, it just doesn't make any sense, the progression isn't "visible" and you feel like you have that kind of horizontal varied POE progression, without having the depth of POE gameplay, the traits are just not that impactful in the class gameplay besides % increase of dps which in the end can all be replaced by a stat increase of other items lol...

Which brings me to one last problem, that I mentioned in the warfronts part, Timegating/Repgating content... the way it has been done this time put the emphasis on what people criticized it for in Legion. It was tolerable and the whole Suramar zone/storyline made it worthwile, as you could still explore and be mesmerized by the zone. In BFA it's just soulless...the 7th legion reputation has nothing impactful about it, the War campaign is not as striking as the Suramar rebellion so you just feel like you're in Zuldazar just because Blizzard was like yeah the other faction has to see how amazing visually these zones are, dont let me start with reputation grind for allied races being locked behind a time consuming rep grind....(that is not even grindable at your own pace, wait at least 3+ weeks)

TL;DR : Timegating is fine til it sucks, same for repgating. Warfronts being once every sub in average is just frustrating especially when you know that that piece of content isn't really that deep to deserve being gated this much. BFA took all the criticism people had about Legion and made it its main feature. Dont waste your time until they fix it.

Very simply put, battle for azeroth took every system from the previous expansions and made them worse. "New" additions include, a matching card game with no penalty for losing, snake, and making an already rng heavy loot system even more of a dice roll. Every fix they add is a band-aid over a broken bone. It isn't helping, it won't fix the problem, and you're only making things worse.

MMOs have always been a treadmill, and WoW is no exception. But the machinery has been disguised by a steady drip feed of rewards wrapped up in a visually appealing and accessible world to play in. It's easy to see the machinery of it all if you look closely, but the experience is more than the sum of it's parts. Except in BfA, where I feel that the skinner-box mechanics of modern WoW are so painfully apparent it makes me question what I am doing with my time. Go to quest hub, get three quests (one kill quota, one interact/gather quota, one boss kill), get second round of quests, complete final mission, move on. On the way, run into a side area with similar structure. Every. Single. Time. I know that the game has always been structured this way, but previous iterations did not feel as robotic as in BfA; I never felt that I saw the gears behind the graphics, if you follow.

My second problem is the scaling system. On paper, a great way to prolong the lifespan of the game and keep it challenging. In reality, it hobbled any sense of progress I might have felt. It doesn't matter if you gain a level or if you upgrade your gear, fighting the same enemies will take the same amount of time. Tell me, what is the point of striving to upgrade your stuff if it doesn't make a difference? It doesn't help that there was no new talent tier. In fact, we lost talents when legendaries were removed, further compounding the problem.

Content gating. Allied races were a major draw for this expansion, and yet they are hiiden behind an obscene rep grind, and in the case of the Kul Tirans and Zandalari, not even in the game at all yet. Can you imagine the sh!t storm that would have erupted if they locked blood elves or worgen in the same way? "Yeah, we know they're one of the selling points, we know you paid for them, but we are so desperate to stretch the content that we're hiding them away from you for weeks." This isn't the same as the mage tower quests in Legion, I don't feel like I am earning anything per se, just having my patience tested.

Spectacle drop. Players have really fallen down the totem pole in BfA. We go from slayers of Gods, wielding legendary weapons of unfathomable power, to goons running around picking fruit and killing pirates. Quite the come down, no? It doesn't help that the story line was badly handled in the pre-expansion and half of our abilities were pruned away. Upgrading your legendary weapon was a no-brainer; you level it up, your damage/healing goes up, you become stronger. Plus you had new talents to earn that powered you up and gave you new abilities. Now we have the heart of azeroth, a lump of stats that absorbs currency and does absolutely nothing. Can you earn new looks for it? No. Does it provide any sort of feedback what so ever? No. Its just there because it had to be there, an illusion of content, like those bloody mission tables ( and who the hell wanted them back?). I am used to losing items and power come each new expansion, but BfA feels like my character has been eviscerated, and combined with the scaling, makes everything seem like an uphill slog. Unfortunately, I still remember when expansions used to ADD things, not take them away.

There are other things, like war mode being a wash out, and like most of the new zones being uninspired (Nazmir in particular, where there are about 2 different mob types), but those are the core problems I have, and why I have unsubbed. I stress that if you are enjoying BfA, then good for you. Seriously, enjoy yourself, just because I'm not having fun, doesn't mean that you shouldn't. But if you've read this far, thanks for listening to me ramble on and vent my spleen.

The reputation system locks advertised content behind a time game, it takes around four weeks to actually unlock this content (Allied races)

If you roll an alliance character, for example a warrior human, you need to grind to 120, then grind reputation for a whole month, then you grind your allied race toon if you wanna play that, then you have to go horde, grind to 120, grind reputation for another month then grind another allied race to 120 if you wanna play that
So probably takes around two and a half months just to unlock the allied races, probably 2 months and one week if you used the level up token

Conclusion: Game is made to appeal shareholders not players, the content is designed to keep subscription up

    - REMOVING CLASS TIERS - Probably the worst decision in years, they were a total sign of identity of WoW and there's no possible excuses to stop making them.
    - No class-focused content like Legion
    - Story looks rushed af
    - Pvp still being crap and reward system is even worse.
    - Warfronts and Island expeditions could be potential great ideas but what we got was terrible.

And i could continue but it's enough... I love wow and have played for so many years but its too hard to defend BFA, what a missed oportunity to keep the game in the good way...

This public beta is a glorious example of over-promising and under-delivering. The hype surrounding this expansion and all of the press leading up to its release touted diverse, randomized, emergent gameplay in the form of Island Expeditions. Epic faction warfare in tug-of-war struggles over landmark zones in the form of Warfronts. Allied Races to earn and level.

During the official beta testing phases players sent mountains of feedback concerning these modes, as well as many notable bugs. These feedbacks went entirely ignored and the released version of the game came with no changes to broken systems. Many of the obvious reported bugs are still in the game to this day.

Island expeditions were touted as infinitely replayable due to randomized islands, events, and a super-AI that would confound players with how awesome they are. In actuality there are a small batch of islands that are on a 3-set rotation per week. The events on the islands operate on a timer, with the exact same events happening at the exact same time every run. These are not randomized and are not rewarding in the slightest. They are a slog and a bore.

Warfronts are not what was claimed either. Warfronts operate on a monthly basis with each faction only being able to do the actual scenarios during a single week out of a 4 week cycle. During this single week one faction is able to spam the scenario for endless 340 item level rewards, nullifying the efforts of players during this first month grinding dungeons and mythics. The opposing faction is given 6 Kill 20 X quests, and that is all. This whole system is a horrible time-gated slog that sees 3 weeks of non-action for 1 week of spamming a scenario that doesn't change, and then 6 horribly boring quests.

Outside of the touted features, BFA is just a dumbed down and poorly implemented Legion. The only new systems are terribly implemented, boring, and not rewarding. The Heart of Azeroth system is poorly implemented and counter-intuitive to Blizzard's past ideology that higher item levels should be upgrades. The traits are boring. They also are not balanced in the slightest. For most classes the best traits are those that have nothing to do with your class. The difference between the best traits and the worst traits are sometimes in the area of 2k dps which is a huge amount.

The dungeons are not very interesting. Out of the 9 or so dungeons there are only 2 that really stand out as well designed. Most are just huge trash slogs where they have packed the trash so closely together that you constantly have accidental pulls. The trash is also at the same time very punishing if all of your group isn't religious on their interrupts.

The raid so far is further down the rabbit hole of tying a victory to the perfect execution of every member of the raid. The mechanics are horrendously punishing to the average human who has lapses in ability or lag in their connectivity. These encounters are not very inspired and don't feel rewarding enough.

Once you are exalted with certain reputations there is no longer an incentive to do World Quests, use the Mission Table, do Island Expeditions, which leaves only Warfronts, raids, and Mythic +. For those who are casual players this means there is no longer a reason to play the game. Nothing has decent rewards; World Quests don't reward Azerite Power in any meaningful amount (~150 per quest, where you need 8-15k to level up), their gold rewards are pathetic, the reputations have a limited life span, and the gear is capped and meaningless after a week or so. The rewards from Table missions are also petty and meaningless. Legion had an issue with table missions being too lucrative at 1-6k per pop. Now they give about 10-50.

As usual the art and cinematics are great, the music is great. However this is nothing new for WoW. Everything else though feels like a flop. Class balance is still not sorted out in the slightest. Every day we seem to get a new hotfix that changes class balance, azerite trait balance, boss damage, etc. Every few days we run into another huge exploit or bug that Blizz takes a while to sort out. This does not feel like a finished product that consumers should pay 65$ for. This is a beta-test that is being sold as a product.

I know that in this day and age companies feel like they can release garbage and then polish it in later patches. That would be acceptable if there wasn't an up-front cost attached to the garbage. There is nothing of value to do in BFA. Every new feature is a complete mess. Bugs and exploits are plentiful and some classes have not had any effort put into them to overcome losing their Artifact weapons (those will have to wait 'til 8.1 which has had no timeline set out). This is an unfinished Beta and no one should be wasting 65$ to jump in at this time.

Regarding class changes - the took away our artifacts, set bonuses from raids, legendaries, and put some of them into talents. In general, the didn't improve classes at all. They just took all the features away and made us weaker, than in Legion. I don't have an idea why the didn't add one more talent set on 120 level.
Lots of bugs, disbalance of classes
If you are new player, you may be drug into the game by allied races. But there is no ad that says that you MUST gain reputation in old content of Legion to have an access to those races.
2,5 poinst for new raid, locations and dungeons they are beautiful as always. 0,5 points for marketing department who sold this game.

Feels rushed and half-arsed. So much gated content, so many rep grinds, actual content feels lacking. Many classes woefully underpowered and in need of proper balancing. Removal of artifact weapon was a big mistake, as the replacement system (azerite armor) feels boring and unrewarding. Mob scaling is also an issue, it's like they set out to suck the fun out of the game

This expansion has been thus far incredibly disappointing. The only positive things I really can say is that the new zones and visuals are really cool. But other than that, I have so many grievances with this expansion that I already canceled my sub, but I still feel like I go suckered into buying the expansion.

    - Segmented Narrative: Want to understand the story by playing the game?

    - Segmented Narrative:

Want to understand the story by playing the game? Too bad! You better buy the book to get crucial story details you won't get in game.

And even if you do read the external media, you'll find several contrivances seemingly just for the sake of having a "faction war" that really shouldn't have happened after the entire world united to defeat the Burning Legion last expansion.

    - Beta for Azeroth:

The expansion was clearly rushed to release with countless errors and bugs that were reported months ago by beta testers who talked about the same bugs on youtube and twitch.

More so than the bugs, gameplay changes have been made seemingly just for the sake of changing things, and a lot of it has been for the worse. Azerite armor doesn't feel nearly as rewarding as the Artifacts from Legion did. Classes are unfinished, some even by Blizzard's own admission, and won't get fixed for a couple months at least.

Many grievances with the new gamplay changes have been completely ignored by Blizzard since beta. They're sticking to their guns despite a vast majority of the playerbase expressing how the gameplay doesn't feel half as satisfying as last expansion's. And Blizzard keeps telling us that we'll just "get used to it", instead of taking the criticism to heart and actually change things back to how there were before.

It truly feels like we're paying for a product that is in beta, and a bad one at that since the developers have a hard time "admiring defeat" and removing things that just don't work.

Battle for Azeroth offers everything you could expect from a World of Warcraft expansion, but its scale is visibly smaller than Legion’s and there’s no truly new quality here. Blizzard plays it safe, incorporating few innovations while trying to salvage the lore situation of Warcraft due to its constant escalation. Despite all this, BfA remains an entertaining expansion with a lot to offer in endgame for a casual player.
