CD-ActionDec 4, 2018Battle for Azeroth offers everything you could expect from a World of Warcraft expansion, but its scale is visibly smaller than Legion’s and there’s no truly new quality here. All that doesn’t change the fact that the charm of this extraordinary MMORPG appeals to me almost as strongly as 13 years ago. [10/2018, p.42]

Oct 8, 2018It's clear that Battle for Azeroth tries very hard to balance the needs of new players with those of long-time fans, and as was the case in Legion, it demonstrates that the line between refinement and oversimplification can feel very thin. It's an overall good addition to World of Warcraft's current state, but it's a gamble as to whether its upcoming content will make it truly special.

Sep 20, 2018Battle for Azeroth makes some great improvements in the levelling experience, but faults in its class design and the less rewarding Azerite system mean that overall, it takes too many steps back from Legion.
-
Sep 14, 2018World Of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, while not making something extravagantly wrong, leaves a loose and saggy impression. Especially compared to the typhoon of changes Legion brought, Battle for Azeroth seems to be less ambitious, staying inside its established comfort zone.

Aug 28, 2018Everyone insists the stakes are high, yet they never feel high, because nothing you care about is at risk.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Dec 31, 2018A quite well-made expansion, but not without flaws. If they get removed by the creators, the rating will improve. However, you won’t regret buying it. [Issue#290]

Sep 5, 2018Overall, I can’t say I’ve enjoyed my time with Battle for Azeroth. There’s a lot of long term progression here for the hardcore players, but to me everything feels simplified and a little bit strung out. The story is quite weak, and the new zones don’t have anything to really grab me as a player like Legion did. It all just feels a little too familiar, like Blizzard have tried to bring back the nostalgia of the “good old days” but have instead delivered the same old story once more. I’m hopeful, though, that Blizzard have a long term plan in place for this latest instalment in the epic saga that World of Warcraft has become, but I’ll be giving this one a miss.
-
Aug 30, 2018Unless Blizzard has some real story shake-ups and a phenomenally tuned raid on the horizon, I’m honestly expecting the sharpest player decrease to set in within the next few months. The expansion itself has some interesting ideas, but sticking to a World Quest grindfest is quickly becoming the norm, and the Island Expeditions aren’t exactly exciting.

Sep 5, 2018What Battle for Azeroth lacks in new stuff, it makes up for in character.
-
Aug 23, 2018The greatest testament to Blizzard’s design in this expansion is that it’s worth wading through Battle for Azeroth’s seemingly endless and frustrating grind, all in the hopes of helping your group of four friends push their keystone up one more level than you thought was possible — at least, for now.
-
Aug 16, 2018Battle for Azeroth is still good. Great, even. One of the best expansions World of Warcraft has seen. Cinematics are driving the storytelling stronger than ever, and a handy apocalypse providing a nice reset for the decades-old plot. There’s a wider range of ways to play, and what missteps are taken feel more like minor nuisances.
