Raid is good, mythic+ are worse (too much trash between bosses leads to infuriating experience on certain modifiers), world quests are more repetitive than in legion, warfonts and expeditions are glorified group mobs farm. Rewards even **** than before, getting Invincible drop is easier than a weapon, trinkets are beyond useless.

PVP: World PvP doesn't work, low level players murder max level/high geared ones (what? why the **** Alliance is nowhere to find (at least on my server). Gear is random again.

Overall: too much randomness, class balance is worse, heavy pruning (again), added global cooldowns to every ability makes game feel retardedly clunky (as if tab targeting is not clunky enough by itself). Stay away from this one, save your money.

Big disappointment. I don't know why exactly we had to purchase it, it is basically Legion but less fun.
Stupid grindy mechanics, useless WQs and too obvious time-subscription-soaking.

They made leveling take 3 times longer, implemented a GCD on all abilities, everything is tied behind boring and tedious reputation grind, even advancing in the main story, they removed active and passive abilities that were baseline and put them in the talent "tree", made 20 reskinned horses as "new" mounts. That's just 1% of all the issues and I can write a book of all of them.

It's an expansion done on a budget with a lazy ass self-absorbed dev team who ignores all feedback and tells players to play how they tell them to play and it shows well. I was not expecting such low quality from Blizzard, but here we are. It's more important for them to scam people to give them money right away instead of thinking long term, making a good game and profit from it.

I wouldn't play it even if it was free to play. It's a dying game with dungeon queues taking more than an hour. If it wasn't for realm sharding, you would barely see anyone in the game.

If you're looking for an alternative mmo with fast paced combat, great gameplay and talent trees, instant queues and millions of players online, I recommend Neverwinter online. I quit BfA for that game and I won't return to wow unless they bring back mop class design, mage tower-like challenges and class specific questlines. When I miss wow, I just play on a Legion private server which is 1000% better than the current beta for azeroth crap.

My estimation mark is 7 because of that lags. It pisses me of, especially in raid. Expand

No new PVP (the azerite resources map is a joke). No new spells/abilities, removal of class hall usefulness. Professions are next to useless, scrapping is an awful idea. Dalaran now not a hub, the new hub also has no AH (way to go devs). Zone monster auto ivlving ruined so there's no high level and low level zone, now they are all equal, yay! gold medals for all. Nice idea in theory, in practice it simply removes the high/low level zone areas altogether.

The iLvl reduction from legion to this reminds me of everything having a similar feel to timewalking dungeons from the past, the players are all scaled no matter what their iLvl is making the dungeon tedious and frustrating.
All of the fun of becoming a super iLvl killing machine was *fun*, going back and demolishing old content was *fun*, currently it feels like the fun factor has been removed from the game alltogether.

Legion was a blast, i leveled almost every character up having fun along the way. BFA i leveled one tank and it burnt me out (tedious run after run with underpowered players by my side)

Finally over this game, the gfx are looking dated, the games fighting mechanics are boring, world quests are the same thing over and over.
Oh and all of that you have to PAY to play this is insulting to seasoned players (Feels more like a reboot with nerfs than an expac)

Still fun(ish) play through for veteran fans of the series, definately play once, then cancel sub.

Very simply put, battle for azeroth took every system from the previous expansions and made them worse. "New" additions include, a matching card game with no penalty for losing, snake, and making an already rng heavy loot system even more of a dice roll. Every fix they add is a band-aid over a broken bone. It isn't helping, it won't fix the problem, and you're only making things worse.

And at first you will pretend everything is fine, there were issues before. It is time to justify the investment. After that you might play a bit more. You have friends in game after all.

Now lets see what would be the next? It takes time to find the motivation to quit and Blizzard makes a fortune on a game that gets worse and worse every year. If at any way to try the game after launch of expansion it is a still a bad game both in the new areas and in low level content not paying a cent is far easier and far more wise than feeding Blizzard for ages.

It is a very broken game now.

Cons: Artifact weapons, legendary items AND class tier sets have all been replaced with the Heart of Azeroth and Azerite armor system. The heart of Azeroth is a necklace that you use to collect azerite which in turn raises the item level and power of the necklace. Azerite armor has many passive abilities that can be unlocked as the Heart of Azerite gains power. None of these powers do anything to changes the way you play.

I don't want to type a book here. The number of cons caused by just the Azerite system alone could fill an entire page. I think one of the biggest is that overall your character is so much less powerful feeling in BfA than in Legion. Despite the leveling zones being gorgeous and the quest pacing feeling brisk enough to not be overly grindy IMO, leveling is not enjoyable because each level you start feeling less and less powerful. If you are looking for an action MMO with a bland reward system, have at it. If you want to play an MMORPG, look elsewhere for now.

    2) Azerite armor, which supposed to fill the emptiness that was created after turning our artifact weapons off, is garbage. It does not fill anything, it is hard to get, its perks are absolutely random and stupid. Overall - today's gearing is the worst in all 14 years we play that game (trust me, i play since 2005).
    3) The idea of the expansion, its selling point were Island expedition and warfronts. Both of these things are a joke. While Islands are ok as a levelling alt tool, warfronts are a stupid AFK scenario with 370 piece of gear reward. It just makes no sense, its ez, stupid, fast and not fun.
    4) dungeons contain way to much trash, its boring to fight. Some affixes are far more difficult than the others which makes you just skip the whole weak of doing certain dungeons (tyrannical in KR, for example).
    5) The whole game now is around gambling. Everything is a lootbox where you might get something, or you might not, maybe it will be good. And thats gambling is in everything: in gear, in cosmetic rewards, in petmount rewards. Everything is random. And we still got no pvp vendors.
    6) Professions are a joke. Skins are cheap af, you wont get any gold on em. While the flasks and pots are extremely expensive and most of the players use flasks and potions FROM THE PREVIOUS EXPANSION!!! That said, blizzard does not decrease the amount of ingredients to craft potions but increases it. It does not make any sense.

Either your projecting, or this is beyond baseless regarding a twitch streamer being the cause for all negative reviews... The reviews appear to be slowly written over 2 months.. that would be one persistent streamer to visit the rating sites long ago, and many viewers that would have visited frequently thereafter. Tinfoil hat much?

As far as positive aspects to this xpac, I personally liked the art (visuals, graphics, and music), and the story. So that's two things.

    warlockdots:
""Its unfortunate that they are being given platforms to express their specific concerns with the game, say how they believe it should be fixed... and instead they just want to jump on the "I hate this game, gamers rise up, lets stick it to Blizzard" hate-wagon, drop a 0 review on every review platform they can find, and then log back into the game and continue to play while they farm Reddit karma and wait for a transmog contest. ""

Mentioned many times in these reviews are the issues that exist, if blizzard felt the need to fix them. If I can find the issues, a team at blizzard better be able to. Here are a few of the problems with this xpac listed below. The specifics of the issues within can be extrapolated further, but they have been reviewed ad nauseam already.

    Azurite power gear issues
    Repetitive World Quests
    Island expeditions
Inability to reroll (similar to legion legendary issues)
    War fronts
    Unfinished classes
    Conquest gearing system
Warmode system (major problem that hasnt been addressed yet, please research this)
    Balance ineptitudes

I would suggest not belittling every review at every website across the net, just because it suits your mental picture.

I ask you warlockdots, is it also a conspiracy that this xpac has the lowest Critic review ratings vs any wow game ever? The Critics probably just obeyed that one streamers demands as well? Too much Tin Foil for me...

Getting a 79 as AAA game from critics is pretty impressive. We all know Critic reviews are inflated :)

(1)Yes, im sure posting to Meta increased due to a streamers visit. However it doesn't explain months of poor reviews (especially before he/she visited), or every site on the net, or the Critics worst wow score ever (trending downward btw).

(2)Your second point, I assumed (incorrectly) you understood this was a widespread phenomenon. If you believe this is Meta only.. ok

(3)I gave a 1 because I think that's what it deserves. My rating of 1 is unrelated to the known inflation of Critic reviews. I know you wish to conflate them, but its best if you don't try that.

(4)You assume I deflated my review? You are incorrect, I think it deserves a 1. The reason you failed with your assumption here is reflected in your own retort. You weighted the problems I listed as 10% of the game? Says who? To me, that could be 100% of the game.. or more importantly, 100% of the additions/content in the expansion from Legion.

(5)If that list carries enough weight TO ME (not you), it could easily justify me rating it to anything, including 0. Its my opinion...

Ive played WoW since Vanilla and have been enjoying Battle for Azeroth so far. Its clear that the negative feedback/frustrations from players last expansion over long patches of content drought was heard by the Devs and they've inserted much more variety of content into this expansion, perhaps maybe TOO many things to do/directions to be pulled, as it seems some of the systems aren't polished and require constant adjustments. I don't doubt these wrinkles will be ironed out as the expansion continues. But the introduction of a variety of Allied Races has been great, I personally cannot wait to play a Zandalari Troll Druid.

Island Expeditions are a creative way to bring old expansion content/mob types into BfA while offering unique pets/toys/transmog set rewards. I hope to see more variety, perhaps special events (large scale PVP or seasonal islands) mixed in. Im neutral on Warfronts atm, I see those more for gearing alts as the expansion continues as most people's main characters are well above the 340 gear that drops.

During legion many players were frustrated that abilities and spells were being removed, we no longer had raid buffs, our classes were slowly creeping towards 3-button rotations. I've been happy to see that slowly being reversed, and spells/buffs being reintroduced back to classes. I hope that trend continues and that player have more variety regarding talents/spec choices, etc. The Azerite system was an interesting concept as a possible fix for the issues players were having with carrying multiple gear sets and being forced to farm certain content for 1 item... but I don't think its a well-received nor successful replacement. Traits are unbalanced and we're still having to carry multiple azerite pieces around for different encounters. Additionally, classes with healing/tank offspecs have to carry around even more pieces as they're seeking out the best traits.

In regards to the zones themselves, the art team has continued to just keep making better and more beautiful zones with each expansion. It was very nostalgic to once again have these expansive and big "main" city with Boralus and Dazar'alor. The music and ambiance is excellent, the variety of creatures and NPCs is refreshing, especially after a legion of puke green fel splattered over literally everything. The dungeons and interior of Uldir is equally as impressive.

    * On a side note about the negative user reviews below- its quite obvious that most of them are viewers of a certain popular WOW streamer on Twitch- not only from the time of the posts (he visited the site on stream), but because most of them are over dramatic, over-generalizations about how EVERYTHING sucks in the game and "OMG BfA is so bad blah blah blah" (but don't really lists specifics, nor can they come up with 1 positive thing about the expansion). I don't believe these streamers want this of their community, these streamers LOVE this game, its a huge part of their life, they want it to work. They want their concerns and voices heard, valued, and their suggestions for improvement taken seriously, in an attempt at hopefully improving some of these issues so more people can continue playing the game.

All the trolling posters, going around spamming 0 reviews on every website is going to do is dilute the reviews/feedback with actual listings of frustrations, issues, concerns, and suggestions- making it even harder for Blizzard to "hear" your concerns.

Edit #1- I didn't mean to imply "every single bad review" as I referenced that the streamer was just currently on the Metacritic site. i know this because I was a viewer in the chat at the time and watched the reviews going up during that time period. On release it was full of bugs and bad class balancing(this has improved but there are still plenty of bugs and weak specs). Azerite traits are boring and uninspired(most of them barely affect gameplay at all while some are clearly superior to others. This can lead to an upgrade actually being a downgrade. They'll fix it eventually, I'm sure. But I thought that was why they have beta testing). At level 120, outside of raiding and mythic plus dungeons, there's nothing interesting to do besides grind reputation and Azerite power(most of my play time at level 120 is spent getting legacy items and achievements. The main quest line is short, the exalted rep rewards are rather stingy, and warfronts barely add anything to the game. I actually miss Suramar). If you really hate yourself, you can run Island Expeditions and maybe you'll get something interesting after 500 runs.

This is a good time to talk about the randomness of BfA. Those sweet, crafted BoP items require an absurd amount of resources to begin with. Then, imagine the pain of going through all that trouble to end up with an item with mastery and versatility(the two most unwanted secondary stats in the game at the moment). There is the option to recover some of the resources required if you scrap the item, but losing all that Expulsom just isn't worth it in my opinion(Again, I'm sure they'll improve this, but why even make such a terrible system in the first place, especially considering there was already a beta to test these systems!) Why even bother going through all the trouble when I could rely on an interesting form of luck like heroic raiding? I can get a free 390 titanforged, if I get lucky of course, by doing content I enjoy.

The only reason I didn't give this a 1 is because I like the visual design of the new continents. Sadly, I don't see them much because I've all but ignored world quests after getting BfA Pathfinder Part 1. There just isn't any point to them besides filling up a green bar.

I've only covered the things that pertain to me, otherwise this review would be a lot longer. There are plenty of other gripes people have, and justifiably so.

"Well, Tom, just unsubscribe if you don't like the game!" I don't want to unsubscribe. I still enjoy the universe and some of the content. My friends play, and I enjoy socializing and doing activities with them.

You can stop reading now, but I have more to add that's mostly unrelated to what I've already covered. Recently, lots of "WoW nostalgia" videos have been popping up in my YouTube feed. Objectively, Vanilla WoW was a pretty crappy game. It was full of all sorts of bizarre, time-consuming design choices and hurdles that amplified the difficulty. However, over time as the game became more modern, most of what made WoW an RPG is gone. It was just more epic in vanilla; it felt more alive(I find server phasing incredibly lame), and the rewards you received felt so much more worthwhile because of those time-consuming and downright insane-at-times design philosophies.

In Vanilla, when I was going to a raid AQ or Ony(attunements were cool, I don't care), I had to fly to Menethil, take a boat to Theramore, take another flight, run through a high level zone, and wait for my 39 other buddies. Yeah it took forever, but it felt like an RPG. I felt like I was doing something.

Now, I can AFK in Stormgarde and get some great piece of loot for literally just waiting around. It's not the WoW I fell in love with. /rant

Upon releasing BFA blizzard admitted that they indeed did not have enough time to balance classes within the game. Many players are now forced to play through the expansion with broken, boring, and incredibly weak characters that require such a high ilevel to compete with other classes who at the end of the day, bring more damage, healing, utility, suitability than the underpowered classes. In order for these classes to compete, they require a higher item level. The problem with this is due to the way the WoW community is, where everyone, even those who aren't completely within the competitive scene know the current meta it becomes increasingly harder to gain ilevel as an underpowered class due to groups of higher end content refusing to work with your class.

It has been 2 months since the release of BFA and most if not all classes who were underpowered to broken within the beginning of the game remain at the same state with blizzard promising to help these classes even though some (marksmanship hunters) have received no indication as to changes in the future.

Beyond that the constant amounts of RNG on top of RNG has made the game not only frustrating but unfun and unrewarding. It is clear with the current game design decisions the goal of bfa was not to create an exciting experience and to refresh world pvp and faction pride, but to test the player base and see how long subscriptions could be pushed with the least amount of content. Class specific raid gear, tier sets, removal of any sort permanent player progression and a complete draining of class skills has left BFA with less and forced players to grind more only with the knowledge that like Legion all your work at the end of the day will be worth nothing due to end game catch up mechanics and removal of the azerite necklace at the end of the expansion.

Legion's game design set up BFA to feel bad when weapons were made to be removed but player were not to retain their benefits in some way. BFA will set up the next expansion in the same way with the removal the azerite necklace leaving the next expansion in a similar place where classes will feel empty and no actual amount of character progression has occurred over the next two years.

World of Warcraft is setting itself up for a dangerous pattern of game design where mistakes are completely erased and not iterated upon and players who play the game for other amounts of content other than raiding in mythic plus will be left with nothing to do in the future due to the lack of iteration upon pvp systems and crafting systems within the game. World of Warcraft is on track for a downward spiral, and only new direction and acceptance of mistakes will help this dev team move forward in a positive direction.

Almost 14 years into its life it continues to be the biggest title in its relatively niche genre. Being a sequel to the Warcraft RPG series world of Warcraft expanded and shed a greater light on the Warcraft universe, character and story involved. What WoW did differently to its predecessors was have customized characters that you could make your own in the huge world.

WoW is a PC exclusive game with intricate yet enjoyable combat mechanics. The game is rewarding to those who put the time into it and are at the peak of skill whilst keeping the game interesting enough for the less skilled or casual players. you start the game as a level one character with race and class of your choosing. You then work your way through a huge amount of different interesting and unique questing zones, travelling to other continents and even other planets, Leveling and increasing your characters power as you go. This part of the game could be considered the most boring part of the game for an experienced player but as a new player it feels fulfilling leveling your character and exploring the corners of the vast World of Warcraft. Once your character reaches maximum level the ‘End Game’ content begins for you and your character. Majority of this content is group based PvP or PvE that has different levels of difficulty, therefore requiring increasing levels of skill and co-ordination as you progress through them. Completing this content rewards you with new and better gear for your character hense increasing its power.

One of world of warcrafts perks is it doesn't require amazing PC specs to run. Its graphics are simplistic and almost cartoony at time but there is detail where needed. However, some of the graphics in the zone created in the early stages of the game can look quite outdated which could off put some players as its where your characters level through initially. Overall the graphics in the game suit the feel and match the mechanics and abilities well.

WoW releases Expansions to the game every 2 years that include a new continent or zones to level your character and raise the level cap of your characters. These expansions add an abundance of new content to the game throughout their life cycles. Within each expansion there are normally 2-4 major patches adding more major content such as new raids and dungeons as well as up to 4 minor patches that add new features and content to the game but in a lesser quantity. Each of these expansions cost upwards of £30 on top of the subscription fee of £10/month. Some find this too expensive for a game and have issue with the fact that it's so much money but to the hardcore player it is worth it for the sheer number of hours of play spent on the game.

The narrative of the warcraft games is well known to be one of the best and most complex and intricate of any game. The shear amount of small intricate stories in each zone mixed in with the greater narrative of the game makes the world really feel alive. There is always something to discover as a new player or a veteran the immense amount of small details and stories are impressive to say the least.

The user interface of world of warcraft is simple and easy for a new player to pick up although can be modified by add-ons or key binds to make things more efficient for the experienced player. There are many addons that can be used on world of warcraft that improve visual aspects or quality of life improvements.

Overall world of warcraft is an extremely versatile game with many aspects to it for many types of player. However, the game does still have elements it could improve on. Many experienced players have been complaining about how simple the gearing system is currently and how receiving items doesn't fell as rewarding as it used to. This is defiantly an issue in my eyes, I feel the game caters slightly to the casual audience in all aspects of the end-game experience and makes it very simple to improve your gear with little skill. Hopefully in the future this can be changed to reward the players at a higher level more in a more suited way.

Another issue is depending on what your style of gameplay is the game can have spells of down time and waiting around that feel very unfun and not rewarding for your time at all. (although most of the content isn't this way)

I would give World of Warcraft a 7.8 out of ten it is a great fantasy MMO that is very inclusive but could be seen as relatively niche in style and gameplay.

In fact i think legion was better, the class halls were a great addition and concept that was fun. Mythic plus is decent. raiding is not bad. too many outside influences wether you can get in groups though.
heavily reliant on outside sources to know if an item is good or not.

    class design sucks.
if you can play for like an hour a week but are willing to pay for that then maybe id suggest trying it.
you have as much chance as top end players to get the items you need and are actually useful.
they new systems azurite armour warfronts and island expeditions are not exciting or intuitive.

    - Lame history. Zandalar trolls is ok tbh, the rest is bad.
    - Lots of bugs on Mythic+ (timed and harder versions of normal/heroic dungeons)
    - Extremely unbalanced classes, more than (The Burning Crusade) TBC. And this is coming from a rogue, one of the most op classes atm. Shaman is basically non-existant, if you play one, better reroll another class.
    - No sense of accomplishment. You main item is a NECKLACE that does nothing, nothing at all.
    - There's a kind of event every 2 weeks aprox. that you can afk for 30min and get the most op itens (Warfronts)
    - Warforge, Titanforge, Megaforge, Ultraforge, Lameforge. You can basically get 50 versions of the same item.
    - Las Vegas mode on. You don't need much effort to get the best itens, just pay your monthly fee and hope to get what you need for your character development.
    - Time-gated content. Progressing through the story, reputations, missions and character development is time-gated. You'll have access to some things only when they say you will, even though you already could but they want you subscribed for longer.
    - PvP is bad. They advertised this expansion as THE PvP expansion, but nothing was added, just "warmode". A on/off option to attack the opposite faction and ONE new battleground, NOTHING new was added. Even PvP Gear is RNG! WTF
    - They don't give a sh*t about player feedback. I've played beta and like many pointed out most of the flaws this expansion would have. Guess what? They didn't hear us.

This game is no longer WoW, it's a warcraft themed game with slot machines being it's main core system. Blizzard has lost it's way with WoW. I might not be an expert in game mechanics or the most theorycrafter guy but some things are simple to see.

This game suffers from many engineering and perception problems, which I will inventory below:

    1) The method by which incremental rewards are dished out is little more than an obvious skinner box. It's clear the manufacturer is making an attempt at player psychology and data driven design, but it falls very short of the mark, leaving many frustrated and apathetic toward the game. 2)

    2) The game's developer community has grown increasingly arrogant with each of the last three expansions, becoming less human and more alien to the community with each post. The lead designer in particular is entirely disconnected with the customer experience, and refuses to take feedback to heart. The company's entire design team has taken a stance of the enlightened master, rather than as passionate creators, and the quality of all of their products suffers for it.

    3) The expansion's features feel like a step back from previous offerings in the series, most notably the artifact system. In the previous expansion, the artifact system was the cornerstone of a rich, well designed chunk of content designed around selling the game's lore and class identity fantasy. In the current iteration, the artifact is just another item to grind and has little if any bearing on the story. Even the NPCs with whom one must interact while dealing with this new artifact narrative is in an ancient zone from wow's history that has no relevance outside of needing to go there to click on this one guy and then return.

    4) Overall, this game has a very shovelware feel to it - rushed out the door for a quick buck like your average call of duty or madden yearly release. The passion and perfectionism of Blizzard as a studio has been abandoned in favor of releasing subpar content before it's ready.

With these glaring flaws, it's difficult to see where the game is positive. Uldir, the initial raid included with the expansion, as well as the initial dungeons are all fairly well made, if a bit bland. The Uldir raid in particular is barren of lore and excitement, merely putting the heroes up against an invented villain who represents an invented threat. Uldir is a far cry from Ulduar of wow's past, but it is a serviceable raid with a few memorable moments and mechanics. The dungeons, on the other hand, appear for the most part lovingly crafted, if a bit buggy.

The leveling experience and story, particularly for the alliance side are enjoyable, but ultimately deliver the player to an endgame that is underdeveloped, unfinished, unfun, and unrewarding. It never feels like a commitment to the game is going to yield rewards, as all reward systems of previous expansions have now been replaced with a thinly veiled algorithm based reward system that is frequently frustrating and unfun to interact with.

Overall verdict: 2/10. The introduction to the world is great, but there is no longevity in that content. None of the 'evergreen' styled content feels meaningful or rewarding, and most dangerously - it does not feel like being a member of a community within this game yields any benefits beyond the social benefits, which other products like Discord and other games can replicate nearly effortlessly.

Mythic raiding itself while time consuming (as it should be ) does not feel rewarding at all in this expansion, you really need to be extremely passionate about mythic raiding or streaming/playing is your job to afford doing it. Mythic+ while challenging like all other features keep the daily grind for loot boxes feature.
Mind blowing fact: after level 100 the only development of your character is the trashy Azerite armor,
that means legendary items, tier sets and artifact weapon abilities were cut down to a dumb down boring
    game play.
Not even new talent point raw in this exp only some minor changes including removing of some talent
and re using some of Legion abilities that were removed as new talents ( how lazy can you be ), couple this with the GCD changes and you found your self with no will to play your chars after the new exp.

Profession examples zero effort as well, looks like copy pasta of legion profession with new names with some minor changes that cause trouble and needed to be hot fixed.

Moreover this expansion was rushed to launch with many bugs that weren't even fixed between the beta testing to game launch. The amount of ridiculous hot fixing (changes tens of different abilities power by 50-200% as a hot fix )
which also require to do more grinding since BIS gear changed.

Overall I think Blizzard went way to greedy mode thinking the captive audience of the Warcraft world will swallow
this trash and say thank you backlashes , players are waking up and noticing very easily this game turned to
a mobile game loot boxes centered instead of MMORPG.

The only way to fix it is players stop throwing money on Blizzard, that means first of all stop with the pre order. its abusrd how flashy new trailer just caused huge amount of players pre-order this game without any idea what they are getting, also it requires players to have standards and unsubscribed when the game is bad.

Hands down the worst expansion so far, at least the worst launch and first months ever. As to bad things, my biggest grudge is the amount of RNG involved in gearing your character and the pace of it. Gearing up to the normal raid gear drop level is ridiculously easy. As long as you do a couple of dungeons weekly, log in for world quests, maybe do a battleground or two and of course finish a warfront once a month you're pretty much set and can go with random people to normal Uldir within Expand

The gameplay feels like a slow metronome.

You can exchange 1000$ directly with tokens into WoW Gold. With the overall very low weapon drop rate in the world of BFA its not only recommended, but merely mandatory to buy a weapon in the AH. I did more than 60 heroics and not a single weapon dropped for me, or my friends. Therefore its the biggest of small past steps into the direction of pay to win.

Blizzard has tried to give us something new each expansion because if they didn't, these same people crying about the new systems would be crying that we didn't get anything different from Legion.

World of Warcraft has turned into a massive RNG Casino. Every facet of this expansion is a slot machine. It's a huge addictive slot machine RNG Loot Box which feels like it's straight out of the EA playbook.

World Boss drops = Good luck even getting a piece to drop. Waste literal thousands of gold on re-roll tokens for chump change gold reward or a bit Azerite Power which in the end will mean NOTHING. All the azerite you grind out during this expansion will amount to NOTHING!!! It's all meaningless.

Azerite Gear = The whole system is trash. Hope for a piece to drop on top of hoping for titan forging on top of hoping for a good ability to be on the piece of gear. (How many pieces do you have to farm to get all that to happen? Don't forget it might not even drop, so how many times will you kill that boss?)

It's all just a gigantic RGN Casino. The game has no soul, It's got nothing to offer. It squeezes time from your life requiring you to re-subscribe by time gating or making you grind out worthless crap that takes so long to get you WILL pay for another month subscription for something Blizzard hardly even put any effort into for example Re-Skinned models called "New Races"

The game just feels like it's on autopilot. Like it's driving straight for a cliff and Blizzard just doesn't give a damn.

It feels like EA and Activision created this expansion and told Blizzard to claim it as their own. It's a money grubbing soul less expansion made by CEO's who have never played a game a day in their life.

Nothing new. They basically took all of the new features of Legion, downgraded them and called it an expansion. Azerite system is garbage, Island Expeditions are so boring, that the word "boring" itself should be replaced by "expeditions", cause that's how they're described best. Warfronts are a joke, where you can't possibly lose. Seriously, all 20 people can gather up to stay afk and they'll still win a warfront in 15-20 minutes. Top notch gameplay, eh?
Balance is broken. Some classes are absolutely unplayable, while others are broken.
Remember how some features in Legion were time/rep-gated? Right, 95% of BfA is time/rep-gated, so you have to wait at least a month (obvious subscription stretching) to get yourself new 30 minutes of gameplay.
If you used to play WoW and now considering returning - don't. Game is viciously murdered and is not worth your time and money.

Level- & item scaling - the higher my level is the weaker I feel. I can't remember feeling this weak in Legion once hitting max level.

I played extensively since launch until ... now. I'm calling the quits. Let someone else take over this neverending grind.
Edit: This expansion feels bereft of imagination and interest in making an actual game that's fun to play and not insanely tedious. I've been away and back and then a few days away after a ragequit over TW. But I still end up with the feeling of not sure why I logged on and then logging off momentarily after.

Content: Well, there are two new islands, but the story is downright absent. You come to Kul Tiras, watch a cutscene, run a short dungeon and off you go sidequesting. If you absolutely want to see a resolution for the initial conflict, you better hit up the wiki because most of your plot progression quests make no sense whatsoever - they're there to drag you around the zone on a forced sightseeing tour, not to tell you a story.

PvP: What PvP? World PvP is dead and organized PvP is just the same as before, except with even less incentive to do it.

All of a sudden every upgrade you get causes enemies to become .... harder? to kill. Goes directly against power growth. People found out unequipping gear was actually better than gearing up.

Once you reach end game, the real problems and hubris of this company become evident. RNG has always been present. It is not inherently bad. However, nested RNG pervasive in every facet of the game, frankly, has ruined it. Azerite armor is the worst example, with ilvl and multiple traits to roll.

Blizzard seems to think that would get people to endlessly hunt the best items. Nah. It made me quit a little over a month into the expansion. Azerite armor is in fact the worst gearing system in the history of the game. Contrary to Lore's ignorance, I would rather go farm low level dungeons in order to raid AQ40. Every piece of azerite armor I got has made me feel negatively.

Either you get an upgrade with the wrong traits, a good trait item with lower ilvl, or can't tell which piece is actually better without sim tools. You also have to keep separate gear sets for every type of encounter. Long story short, I stopped giving a crap about my gear.

So hey maybe I'll have fun with the other features. Nope. War mode = horde mode. The faction disparity has turned it into a one sided buff, for only one side of the player base to enjoy.

Islands? Everyone hates them. Playing to win doesn't get you the rewards. They are like a dungeon with no bosses and exponentially low chances to get anything other than AP.

Warfronts are even worse. Take no skill and spammable for 340 gear, with a free 370 every 3 weeks. Just a mess.

The missions tables don't reward enough gold to care about after getting your reps. Speaking of reps, the rewards are nothing special. They are more like a chore to get out of the way so you can fly as soon as pathfinder comes along.

And then there are the bugs. Not small stuff, that happens and it's fine. I'm talking things like one faction getting spammable warfronts while the other has to wait and get an ilvl 320 requirement, creating huge disparity. I'm talking people getting mythic chests based off of legion mythics completed the last week before bfa launch. There are many more examples like this that had lasting negative impact and frankly blizzard QC is a JOKE compared to the company that used to put things out "when it's ready".

The only thing I enjoyed about BfA before I unsubbed was the leveling and zone design - excluding the whole scaling problem of course. Maybe I'll come back, but for now I won't stay subbed and let blizzard think this crap is acceptable.

Riddled with bugs that not only breaks immersion but also game systems causing frustration as never seen before since it's original release, World of Warcraft now tries to dumb down the game even more with it's latest expansion "Battle for Azeroth", or as the community dubs it: "Beta of Azeroth".

Coming from a temporary high that the expansion dubbed Legion set, the gameplay gets more bare-boned than ever and many, many things are put in without the polish Blizzard Entertainment has previously been known for. Gamebreaking bugs that causes disconnects and loss of content is an everyday occurrence, and with each passing day it feels more and more like you are still playing on the Beta server.

For new players the game drags on incredibly hard with no reward besides a number by your portrait which denotes your level. Rewards like new spells or abilities to change up the gameplay can take as much as 20 levels to come across, something that could equal several days for any player with just an hour or two of time to play, and at max level still doesn't feel different enough.

When finally at the end-game where the real game begins. There are a lot of things to do in Battle for Azeroth, but for seasoned players, many of the now old systems have been watered down to be incredibly unrewarding when compared to past expansion that it feels bad and more of a chore to do them. Incentive is lacking and the few additions made to the game also follow down this path. Also, for some reason, a lot of the systems and mechanics in place have no explanation to be found in-game and forces you to visit World of Warcraft's website and search for articles or forums posts made by the developers. In some cases, the most recent being a topic on a mechanic called "Reorigination Array", you are even forced to use third-party sites to get to know how it works, and this is a VERY important mechanic in current content! It took Blizzard a few weeks and three long paragraphs, something comparable to a short essay as forum posts go, to explain it. And if you don't choose to scour World of Warcraft's own website or third-party sites for this information, you have no idea that it even exists in the background as a hidden, but very important to do, mechanic! This is unacceptable!

Now, probably the biggest damning thing this expansion has going for it is the lack of choices the players can make. There has never been less customisation of how to progress in the game as far as rewards go and there are less skill ceilings on every class. There's not only no incentive to learn the intricacies of a class, they are not even there. Blizzard has homogenised the game and it's systems so much that it's no longer a world to explore, but rather a roller coaster where you are simply along for the ride.

It's not all bad though, thankfully. In Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard has made the world alive again with the addition of a mode called War Mode, an option that gives players extra rewards at the cost of opening themselves up to player vs. player combat in the world, something that has been considered almost dead before this expansion. The first raid, a challenge done with up to 30 people, seems to have been generally positively received. If you only play this game to this type of content raid and do not do anything else, you might like this expansion. That is, if you can get over how slow and dumbed-down the gameplay has become.

Unfortunately, all in all, Battle for Azeroth scares away new players with a slow and tedious introduction with no feeling of accomplishment or reward for working their way towards the end-game where the real content of any World of Warcraft expansion begins. Seasoned players are met with bland systems, removed choices for progression, less incentives to do content and a flood of bugs. It all feels incomplete and Blizzard has stated publicly that the game might feel barren now, but that it will feel better after a couple of updates towards the end of the expansion where systems will finally make sense, and why they are so barren now.

Going by Blizzard's statements, sit this one out for now and come back in a year when the systems have gotten their content they are supposed to have, and should have had on release. That is, if you can cope with being forced to progress the only way the game makes you at the mercy of dice rolls, the homogenised gameplay with no incentive or rewards, and no real feeling of accomplishment of mastering the game.

Summary: Azeroth paid a terrible price to end the apocalyptic march of the Legion's crusade, and it shows.

Verdict: Wait a year or until next expansion.

I am not the one Who thinks paying money for Beta. Whole system just like Legion and some get worse, like adding Global cooldown and poor story. While playing Uldir often wondering why i'm here for?
Just hope make story better than this.

A real downgrade from Legion. I am not at all intrigued by the story, unbelievable and hypocritical storytelling on both sides (‘Honorable’ Horde burns down the capital of the most passive faction of the Alliance and commits mass genocide; Alliance and Horde have fought together countless times, and are still waging war, even though they obviously have similar values; Tauren would've left the Horde a long time ago (death of Cairne, Garrosh, Sylvanas), Nightborne join the horde because of the unnecessairy 10.000 year old distrust of Tyrande (Who has lost all her character due to bad writing), even though they have just as much reason to join the Alliance). I'm forced to do quests which I don’t support, I am supposed to be 'the champion of Azeroth' but I can make zero decisions in this war. It has become more of a Marvel movie-type story than the story on which WoW was based on. The obligatory PvP was a terrible decision (you can switch it off, but then you miss out on 10% bonus xp, loot and rep, so you would be stupid not too turn it on, even for PvE players). This results in constant random deaths at ANY level by ANY level character (up to a point where it becomes impossible to progress in an area). Overall boring everything: Questing has become boring and dumbed down, mobs scale with your level which makes you feel like you’re not growing stronger but weaker; World quests were an interesting new addition in Legion but has become boring and old by now, grinding azerite in land expeditions should've been a battleground (What is this with azerite anyway, shouldn’t this bet he main story of the expansion? Healing Azeroth? Instead it is your new uninteresting artifact). Boralus is unimpressive. No new spells and abilities (I rather have a 100 spells, which might not be useful, but at least are fun, than to be limited to a few like Guild Wars). They’ve killed a lot of characters (either in reality or through bad writing), and there aren’t that many left that are interesting (and there used to be a bunch). To end on a positive note, dungeons are quite fun, Zul’dazar is a beautiful city, some classes are still fun to play, new races are nice (even though Void Elves’ and Nighborne’s loyalty to Alliance and Horde don’t truly make sense)). Still fun, WoW will always be fun, just the worst expansion to date. Expand

Absolutely loving it, as of 8.0. Maining Horde, but having played both factions, the stories of the Zandalari have captured my heart in loving embrace. The music, the voice acting, the zones and the atmosphere itself - all are fantastic. Comparative to previous expansions, even the launch was smooth.

Honestly, the hate toward this xpac is unfounded. This is perhaps my favourite yet,

Highly recommended, very excited for future patches.

I'm trying to figure out a way to word this as eloquently as I can without coming across as an **** So let me start off with this. I've played WoW for about 14 (almost 15) years. I'm a WoW Veteran that has cleared higher end content for most of that time. In Legion (the previous expansion) I decided to wind down and go an easier more casual route with only raiding once a week with some seriously great people. Legion was a blast compared to WoD and I had fun raiding all the way through. When BfA came out, immediately I was let down by Azerite armor, by the lack of things to do with professions, by my abilities and passives that went away with my awesome legendary weapon, by forced personal loot in dungeons, with the bugs that I know I and others reported in beta, with the reduced reputation gains from world quests that literally DOUBLED the amount of time it took to get reputation leveled, GCD being added to almost every ability, RNG for your RNG with your RNG, Warfronts being like Wintergrasp except boring, Island Expeditions that are Cataclysm Scenarios with a timer, classes not even being finished on launch and told to wait for a patch, a game designer that gives little to no f*cks about the player base and displays his arrogant attitude every single livestream or AMA, once again being stuck to the ground with no flying mount, boring dungeons that feel like rehashes of other dungeon mechanics, the irritating timegating using reputation or gear...oh and did I mention the bugs (I've fallen through the ground more times than I can count in BfA than I ever did in all the other expansions COMBINED). I could literally go on for the entire 5000 maximum character count in this text box with the problems and issues this expansion has. I keep going back and adding more **** that's wrong with this expansion.

Needless to say, if you're an old WoW Veteran looking to come back and play again, don't. Just stay away. It's hot garbage. If you're a new player, I encourage you to wait until either the next expansion or the current game developer gets ****canned for this mess of an expansion. Don't listen to all the shills defending the developers or gameplay. Trust me, this is worse than WoD by a wide margin.

What a disgrace. I'm going to go take a shot now. I need one after writing that review and remembering all the **** that is wrong with a game that I used to love.

    Ugh.

Artifact weapon and legendary system were so much better than azerite armor system. Azerite armor is just not giving enough feeling of achievement as it requires tons of AP and the traits are not interesting while artifact traits were so much interesting and it stayed with us for the whole expansion so we actually cared about it so much

The game suffers from an over abundance of RNG and grinding. You have to grind out everything to include the new trait Azerite. There comes a point when the the player base is just plain tired of grinding and they have reached that point. Blizz needs to start to rethink the game and return to what made it great.

Grind. Grind. Grind. Useless azerite traits, boring World quests again. No pvp content again. Warmode is made wpvp worse than it was cause of phasing. Bounties, aridrops, bgs, expeditions, warfonts - all of these are just a big fail, which is nonregarding for players, so they forced to play Myth+, myth raids and arena again, to get any gear. And if you want to gear in pve you forced in raids strongly, cause of 3 cd in a week, and azerite armor drop instead of hoping for random loot for myth+ chest. To gear up in pvp you need at least 300 games on 2.1 rate in arena to get same ilvl as mythic raids, but arena is way harder, so unbalanced pvp vs pve again. Game for casuals and pve players.
No new talents, spells and features for classes, but they add a GCD between half of the spells, which made 123 rotation and 5-8 main buttons in general even more boring and depressing.
No pvp events, no pvp world quests, no pvp rewards for world pvp. 10% bonus from warmode is just a silly joke, nobody playing in warmode tho.
Terrible class balance. My class, dk - having 2300 rate on arena as possible cap, cause of how useless and weak he is. Dk taking 0.7% of pickrate in 2v2 and 1.2% in 3v3 in first top 5000 of arena, Check arenamates. Dk cannot do anything to retpala, hunter, rogue, arcane mage, enhashama 1v1.
Removed artifacts, set bonuses, classhalls and class qutst lines - nothing new instead. Just pathetic azerite armor which is so cringe, useless and frustrating to lvl up.
Quests and lore are mainly the same - go there, kill these leaders, destroy key objects to make great villain weak and finally kill him with assistance of main hero of the quest line, talanji princess or jaina, we are not a heroes anymore, we are just SylvanasAnduin's garrison companions, and BFA in lore side is just a big garrison world quest for these two.

Battle for Azeroth offers everything you could expect from a World of Warcraft expansion, but its scale is visibly smaller than Legion’s and there’s no truly new quality here. All that doesn’t change the fact that the charm of this extraordinary MMORPG appeals to me almost as strongly as 13 years ago. [10/2018, p.42]

Blizzard plays it safe, incorporating few innovations while trying to salvage the lore situation of Warcraft due to its constant escalation. Despite all this, BfA remains an entertaining expansion with a lot to offer in endgame for a casual player.
