I like the story; I like the humor; and I like the art. but I can’t say the game is good. I would even say that I want to play the sequels of Without Within at some point as the developer has shown me they have talent and potential. Why can’t I say the game is good ? It just feels unfinished. I have played short games before but this has to be one of the shortest. I don’t know if I got a good ending or bad ending. It just ended with little to no buildup and little to no explanation.

I played Without Within on Linux. One issue I had was if I put the game in fullscreen then it spanned both of my monitors instead of filling just my main monitor. The game allows for manual saving whenever you want and has fifteen save slots which is much more than you will need. The game takes up 82Mb of disk space and uses the Ren’Py engine.

As strange as it may sound considering I just said the game isn’t good I do recommend people try to play this game. It really does have some solid foundations and the developer has proven their talent in the genre with their future game The Last Birdling. Everyone has to start somewhere and this was the starting point for InvertMouse. The game is a shell of a game really, almost a tech demo but it has it’s charm. The game is free but that doesn’t really excuse the lack of polish as there are plenty of free visual novels out there with more depth and content. I finished the game in 12 minutes. It left me wanting more of the game’s characters and story but left me unsatisfied with how little I had gotten.
