Its alright, mindless fighting, okay story...

The game isnt an AAA and graphics arent the finest but It gets the job done.

Game isnt in a broken state as it is perfectly playable.
If only the price was smaller it would have been better.

I have been waiting a long time for a single-player werewolf game to come out. So hats off to you guys. What made me more excited was that it was an RPG. I am getting enjoyment out of it. Definitely, a game I was going to get no matter what anyone said.

However, there are some flaws. For one...the graphics aren't the best but they aren't bad...they are decent. The graphics could be better (however, no problem with it). The camera when you're in Crinos form can be kind of janky, it's somewhat bad. Hard at times to keep up with enemies with the camera movement. I feel there need to be people being torn to shreds when you're in werewolf form. Not just blood-splattered and that's it. The only time there is blood and gore and bodies being torn apart is during executions, when the werewolf bites the head off. But other than that, there is no bodies being torn to shreds, to limbs all over the place, etc. Just blood being splattered that's it.

The voice acting could be better. I feel like you should be able to do stealth kills while in Lupus form and the Homid (human) form should have more weapons to use. I feel players in an RPG should really be encouraged to play as they like for example...they need to be more encouraged to save going into Crinos form as a last resort. As well as being encouraged to use it when they like instead of waiting until the "Enrage" message pops up. There could also be a meter for the Crinos form to recharge, that way they don't use it right away. Also when you throw an enemy, the effect could be better because right now it looks like you just threw a stuffed animal at the enemy when the one being thrown makes an impact. It needs to look like you actually threw a person not a stuffed animal.

I also feel like the transformations could be more realistic. Like when your character turns into a wolf or a werewolf...there needs to be an actual transformation...not that he just morphs and that's it.
Another downside is that the game isn't Open-World, Sandbox-Free Roam, Action RPG...it's just an action RPG. I feel an RPG Werewolf game should be an Open World, Free-Roam RPG. As well as character creation. Maybe even more Perk trees.

However, the story so far and the soundtrack is great. The gameplay and mechanics are good but they could be better. The graphics and voice acting need improvement. There should be more options...maybe even a mode where you can try to take on as many waves of enemies as possible. Even a snapshot mode/mechanic.

So far I give it a 7/10. I enjoy it but there are plenty of areas where the game needs to be improved on. Hopefully, the next game that comes out, touches up on that. Hope this game opens the door for more single-player, action RPG werewolf games to be made. Hopefully, one that is an open-world, free-roam, sandbox, action RPG. With better graphics.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am in a weird spot when it comes to WtA. It is a huge nostalgia point for me so anything coming with the name attached is also under high scrutiny from me.

That being said, i also need to keep in mind that this is not a AAA Bombast Spectaclefest. It is a solid AA Hack'N'Slash with some minor dialogue and open world elements and it works. Is it fun? Yes, despite a rather boring plot and some frustrating moments, it is a game you can have a lot of fun with. I wouldn't call it an Early Access game nor that it looks out of date. But i get to that.

Worldwise, this is not an original production by Cyanide and i noted my nostalgia. The game does namedrop a lot of things from the Tabletop RPG, introduces a few concepts and goes in-depth with a few others. Overall i wasn't sure if the game is aimed at newcomers to the setting or to veterans because there is noteable differences and i can't tell if these were intentional or not. There is some weirdness going on with a Red Talon Leader who we... never see their wolfshape of. I chuck this down to a budget decision. I am also not entirely sure how familiar the devteam was with the sourcematerial. This is most noticeable to me by it being super unclear on which of the humans is Kinfolk and who isn't (and also some of the NPCs it's very unclear who is a Werewolf and who isn't).

Graphics are good. Animations are a bit stilted, especially in dialogue which made me wonder why they even went for long back and forth Mass Effect like dialogues in the first place instead of doing more concise "fixed" dialogue. Maybe budget? Probably budget.

Combat mechanics are fun and honestly thats the tasty tasty ham in this ham and cheese sandwich. Exploding into Crinos and melting Wyrm minions left and right is very satisfying at it's basis but i feel the stance-dancing you can/need to do takes out momentum. Combat is also super floaty, with a lot of attacks bound to land anywhere but the enemies.

Stealth is the cheese part of that sandwich and honestly, i like the idea of it being a preparation of combat by thinning the herd but overall the stealth mechanics are super wonky (which isn't fun) to the point that later on i just did combat (which is fun!). It is super fun though to create a takedown conga line especially when the guards are already on high alert and you just yoink one after the other over a fence.

Story. Hoo boy. I dunno Cahal is Boring McGrimface. I'm sorry, his whole storyline is full of emotional beats that don't hit. Ludmilla died too fast and then Cahal is being Very Dramatic with self-imposed exile. It's also a really overdone trope to Kill The Wife for emotional tension and just... can we not? Garou by their very being, by default, would already have plenty of reasons to go against a operation like Endron. I feel it would've been easier to try and go for the feeling of Rage that especially Ahroun feel burning in their chest when they see something like the Mine or the Dam. Subsequently, the whole "oh no my daughter is always in danger and now she's been kidnapped" is also not working out. There is a bit of a fakeout where its implied Aedana might still go through her First Change and really a bossfight through her First Change would've been pretty cool, a good Father/Daughter Teamup instead of the lackluster "I'm a monster please save me by killing me" ""twist"".
There's also the thing about using alcohol to up your Rage in between fights which... isn't the best choice. The source material already takes a bit too much glee in making equivalencies between a Werewolves rage and Alcoholism so that wasn't needed and is also not a particularly good message (Talens would've worked for this much better).

Overall, the game is solid. It is worth it's money and will entertain you for a while. It won't surprise you in any way - storywise - and combat/stealth is solid enough (combat more so than stealth). I can moan a lot how i would have rather seen a true open world WtA RPG with character generation but hey, maybe we get to see that still. This isn't a bad game, it's just good and - and i wanna stress my nostalgia here - i wanted more.

And i hope that the license owners see that and let Cyanide hone their craft.

EDIT: And also make sure not to get any Nazi Dogwhistlers like Ericsson on board that **** up your plot.

I liked the game, in my opinion the game lacked only one thing - it was the release of the game on all platforms - because very few people will support such a game in epic games, I would like to buy it on incentive, I will wait. Passed with a friend as a whole, the game is worth it - if by today's standards 799 rubles is a straight ceiling - the developers have tricked the price to set it higher - because the higher the price, the more questions to the product. The game turned out to be 7/10 for me - not **** - but also not wow, just a stunning project - a good game for the evening with a beer. The price is too high, the product is not only graphonium and AI, let's be honest, is rather weak with model faces. Its price is 799 rubles - unfortunately, I'm afraid the developers won't sell it much, I think they themselves already understood how they released it, because young people need a graphon for the masses, and if it is not there, not everyone will play a project from the Xbox 360 era - even these chips we were left with the exit by the enemy through the doors and loading between locations - when we seemed to have gone through this a long time ago. I do not advise guys to buy if you are waiting for a straight wow project. This is an ordinary project of category B that does not take stars from the sky and someone who is over 30 and above will like such a game - who remembers those times - if you are even younger and find a prototype, then you will definitely want to play this project, and those who do young and did not touch such projects, I do not advise - because you will spit from everything and the game will be very boring for you - because the style of presentation of the narrative and plot and gameplay from 2007-2012. These are very old mechanics. Buy so to speak at your own peril and risk - because the project is controversial and not everyone will get it. Expand

The story is probably the most lacking part of the game. It's an alright introduction into WtA, but the plot itself is quite predictable and only incorporates the most obvious themes from the original setting.

Overall, play this game if you're looking for some dumb fun and you're okay with lower production values.

2- The story felt like it was written by a 3-year-old. It's so simplistic and shallow that I could predict what would happen, which makes it extremely dull.

3- Gameplay is extremely repetitive. The gameplay is you going room to room and repeating the same thing over and over again.

a- If you choose the stealth approach:
    - Crawl into vents.
    - Sneak takedowns.
    - Crossbow.
    - Disable camera.

b- If you choose the wrecking method:
    - Turn to werewolf
    - Press shift to dodge.
    - Clear room.

If you want to experience the entire game, play the first room. You don't even need to finish the first level. Just finish the first room. Then you've experienced the entire game and can refund it since the game is not worth the price. I was lucky enough to get it for 17 euros. Even that might be too generous.

If you're looking for the next great action stealth game for the ages, look elsewhere. If you want a game where being a werewolf is the heart of the story and gameplay, there is basically no other option in videogames. It bears the hallmark limitations of a small studio trying to chase some big studio ideas and coming up short, but there is plenty to enjoy here.

Well, this is no masterpiece, I think everyone can agree on that. However, if you lower your expectations enough, there is a great deal of fun to be had in here. First of all, the game has an unfortunately outdated design; the graphics, animations, and structure are all extremely simplistic. This reminds you of an early PS4-era game, and I am pretty convinced that it if had been launched then, it would have been welcomed by a lot of people. Otherwise, environments and effects seem very low-res (I am not even going to talk about the facial animations), and executions and combat animations often don't feel impactful enough.

That being said, the stealth and the combat are actually very well done (albeit quite repetitive), and the game's biggest advantage is that the three forms are not at all a gimmick. They each serve their role, and the game is pretty well designed in terms of letting you choose stealth or direct combat. If you like games with werewolves, this should definitely be your go-to game; it really nails everything about that. Additionally, the boss fights are interesting and well designed; they really kept me on my toes.

The plot itself is definitely interesting and captivates you at times, but unfortunately, the writing is somewhat lackluster, and the acting ranges from mediocre to outright bad at times. With a bigger budget, I'm certain this could have been fixed, but as it is, there are a lot of shortcomings from this point of view.

You can see that the devs did actually try to make the game less linear: you have side quests, the levels are semi-open-world, there are secrets to be found, and the skills you choose do have an impact on the overall gameplay. There is even a choice at the end that leads to a somewhat different ending. At its heart tho, this still remains a linear single-player game, with extremely limited replayablity (there is no New Game+ or Chapter Select), especially since most achievements can be gotten from the first run.

Overall, however, if you take your time with it and play it slowly, there is plenty of enjoyment to be found in it, and as I said, so far, this is the best werewolf game to date. If you can get on sale, I would definitely recommend it. The base price is a bit steep, as the game rarely reaches AA quality. But this is indeed worth your time if the worldbuilding seems alluring to you, especially since the combat and stealth are pretty good.

Story: I feel like if you're not a WoD werewolf fan ( A Vampire fan myself) or an Eco nut (I'm not), you're not really going to like or care about the story. While playing, I found myself rushing through levels and secondary missions without a second thought to the story just because I'm a Completionist. The story wasn't enthralling enough to command my attentions.

Characters: The Characters had some okay voice acting, but the personalities were rather bland. The character dialogue was clearly not written by a word savant, but I guess the voice actors did the best they could with the pitiable rations given to them.

Combat: The combat was a bright spot in the game. It reminded me of vampire the masquerade redemption's combat system, tho this one was much more fine tuned. I had fun slaughtering, dismembering, running around with and committing specialized executions on my prey. The only thing about the combat that somewhat annoyed me was when enemies I killed would rise again as new versions of themselves. Nobody likes fighting the same enemy twice. The stealth/open combat approach was also a nice touch. For people who prefer not to kill unnecessarily when they rp, they have paths and missions to sneak past obstacles while keeping the blood flow to a minimum or you can wholesale slaughter everyone in sight if you're feeling blood thirsty (like me). I also feel I should correct something I had seen in another review on the web about there being no reward for sneaking around-- There are indeed achievements for killing no Innocents and disabling security measures with stealth tactics.

All in all it's not terrible, but it isn't something I would replay just for the sake of it. One play through was enough and I don't feel like I wasted my time in that. If it gets an expansion I'll revisit it, but for now it's going to collect some dust in the library.

Cyanide Studios once again manage not to raise the bar. This is a deeply average game reminiscent of cheap B-movies, visually awful and mechanically obsolete. But massacring your enemies as a bloodthirsty werewolf is, not surprisingly, quite fun.
