While a great addition to the We Were Here Series, Expeditions: The FriendShip is not likely to blow your mind. If you are ok with a slower-paced, purely puzzle-based game that runs on the shorter side when you have an hour or two to kill with your friend online, this is a worthy title to look at. It's also a great way to introduce yourself into the series as a whole and help you decide if you want to sink your teeth into one of the other, longer, games. While I do personally prefer couch co-op, this is one title I'm sure to get back into time and time again for my online co-op needs, which are more and more common these days.

With a new storyline and new tweaks to the series’ co-op gameplay, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip is an excellent start to this multi-part franchise installment.

A minor gripe would be that the content is a little short, but as this is intended to be another episode for the series, it’s not a serious gripe. A nice taster without being a waste of time, a great introduction to social games without the pressure of eight-player ability fuelled mayhem, and an enjoyable adventure for experienced thinkers and friends alike. Plus, pirates! Try it.

For die-hard fans, We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip feels like coming home. Compared to the larger Forever, developer Total Mayhem has pulled the handbrake and opted for a smaller-scale adventure in which you can easily reach the finish line in one evening. But due to the nice variation in puzzles, small innovations in game elements and reasonable but satisfying replay value, The FriendShip will certainly ensure that you will not soon forget that evening, at least until the next Expeditions adventure is ready.

We Were Here Expeditions: The FriendShip serves as a spin-off from the main series, presenting an experience that can be completed in a single evening. This two-hour adventure encompasses three meticulously crafted puzzles that intricately rely on cooperation between two players. A noteworthy addition is the introduction of a commendable achievement system, which, ideally, will find its way into the main series too. Whether obtained for free, making it an irresistible experience, or acquired at the cost of a full-price movie ticket, The FriendShip undoubtedly delivers substantial value and engaging content.

We Were Here changes its format to deliver shorter (and cheaper) adventures, while keeping its formula intact and offering yet another fun puzzle challenge to solve with a friend.

The only problem is we still want more! Don’t get me wrong, I’m always grateful to see a new deeply cooperative game release as, as mentioned, they are often few and far between, but the We Were Here games are special.
