Cool game. Especially fascinating universe dystopia, when you have no choice. The plot at 7, quite tedious. Very cool gameplay, there is a tree of skills, there is a composing RPG - inventory and craft, but you don’t have to survive. It is a pity that not many people noticed the game, because it has a huge meaning.

I am so surprised to see any negative or mixed reviews on here... The game is so unique, utterly bonkers, and really great to play. It sucked me in from the first second, and I have been playing for hours since. Hopefully people will come to realise and love the game like I and others in the future - it is really great.

    Lovely Day for it
When we happy few was first shown off, it was basically being sold as a survival based game set in a creepy procedurally generated word. But since then this game has drastically changed
The world is still procedurally generated, but the game is completely with a fully fleshed out 23 hour long campaign and plenty of side quests to extend this time..
Throughotu this campaign youll be playing as 3 characters all seeking to escape in an alternate reality post world war 2 world during the mid 1960s, first is Arthur, hesa very balanced character.. his 12 hour or so long campaign is probably the most enjoyable, but youre in a eutopian world where you go off your joy.. a drug that takes away all emotion other than happiness, when you go off you begin to remember.. your past.. your brother.. its then you realize you need to escape… so youre off on a ourney to do just that.. the thing is.. being off your joy makes you suspicious, so oyull have to fake your way through town and occasionnaly pop a joy to get through downer detectors…
This world feels very much like a bioshock meets dishonoredworld.. you feel as though you have just as much freedom…
At first we happy few is at a near masterpiece level
The world is so creepy and intriguing to explore… within the first couple of horus I found myself in an abandond home with creepy music box music playing, and epty crib.. toys on the bed, I found a home where a couple hung themselves together… a table set up for tea alice in wonderland style
I was absolutely enthralled and intruged.. disturbed and curious…
Sadly though this attention to detail and world building quickly completely evaporates…
going through these abandoned world is so earie at first, there would be moments I would stop and have to tell somebody about it or share a picture.. but by time you get to the first town… this is completely gone… the game turns into busy work fetch questing…
The experience you have in the world of We Happy Few depends on your difficutly.. there is an option to customize your difficulty, I hose to kep survival and combat on easy, but I kept suspicion on normal.. I wanted to be immersed and get the intended experience of the world without having to worry about eating or sleeping.. but having to fit in to stop suspicion is where things can get super annoying.. plenty of chases through the streets and hiding on benches and in trashcans..
There is a skill tree though to unlock perks and make towns a little less frustrating.. these are rewarded to you by completing story quests as well as sidequests.. and you can build up to the townpeople just accepting youre someone that runs around without them wanting to fight you because of it..
But Arthurs act is the most complete feeling… there a lot of missions here where youll be in buildings, sneaking around.. taking out enemies, gathering materials, getting costumes to blend in.. its all a nice ballanece before youre challenged with the final 2 acts of the game…
First up is Sally.. her story is around 6 to 8 hours and runs parallel to arthurs story, so you will meet eachother with a different perspective from both ends…
Here theres an added challenge of taking care of a child, as youre completing tasks you will have to come back home, feed the baby and hold it or every hour a found of weight is added to your carring copacisty making it difficult for you to carry items and weapons… this is een more challenging because sallys act is very heavy on crafting… all three characters can craft… but the focus is really here for this story.. so many cool moments in her story though, so it was worth getting through even though it was infuriating.. .she cant fight with anything other than super light weapons but has the most hostile enemies out of all three stories, the havng to take care of a baby thing is annoying too when trying to gather crafting components, and finally in ollies chapter you have an insane weapon that does the highestdamage possible… this is a 3 -4 hour long father daughter story and is the sweetest and funniest story of the 3 and concludes the entire story of we happy few, no sequel bating.. this game has an end…
his added challenge though is you have to manage your blood sugar level… food and honey super important here.. its quite challenging at first balancing the too as running around with low blood sugar cuts your health in half…
But all 3 have a different skill tree…
Ollie also isn’t able to blend in and be accepted like Arthur and sally…. So its basically impossible to sell items at shops… you literally cant walk through a town without dozens of enemies constanly wanting to fight you.. its super frustrating but again super worth it for the story..
Which is what sumerizes we happy few perfectly.. worth it for the story…

Extremely unique, moves at a great pace, and NO IT IS NOT PRICED LIKE A TRIPLE A GAME. It's actually $30-40 less than an AAA game, so people complaining for the price point is seriously ridiculous.
Extremely vibrant, lots to do, and the world-building is amazing. For a game that costs almost half of what big titles do, you're getting a LOT for what you paid for.
    Must-have for Dystopian lovers.

Genial.

The games focus is on story over survival and it's a fun story to play, I've really enjoyed my time with this game, This is a fascinating first-person role-player game that mingles elements of a immersive sim design with open world survival mechanics in a weird alt-history 1960's Britain land very cool.

I like that We Happy Few, doesn't care whether or not I choose to walk aimlessly in its open world crafting healing balms or grenades, lockpicks, fancy electrified weapons, distraction devices, before walking into a nest of homicidal scientists.

When exploring in We Happy Few it's designed to reveal secrets that are both fun and rewarding. Although survival and crafting are fairly manageable, running through randomly generated towns, streets, or abandoned fields unfortunately shows that We Happy Few can’t hide from the ghosts of its own past as you'll learn when you play though the game.

This game is well worth your time and I recommend it but wait for a Steam sale..

The game is [UNIQUE, Atmospheric, Surrounding, Artistic, and have a good OST]

    => REVIEW:
This game causes you a mixture of feelings, and it has a happy and sad atmosphere at the same time, the setting, the people, the plot in general, the missions, the world moved by joy, everything is so unique and special that it manages to involve you in a way that many games try but fail.

Although the game is extremely unique, it cannot be considered a masterpiece because it has many defects, among them we can quote the *stealth mechanics that fail* at different times, making you appeal for aggressiveness, the *AI of the NPCs* that it's very weak, sometimes the guards don't see you, even if you pass in front of them, the infected give up on chasing you after you run 3 seconds, or even people who notice your presence even with you in stealth mode, besides all this, the world has *large and empty areas*, usually of fields, that only make you have to walk more, and in the case of
around cities, they don't make sense, besides all this, the game has *bugs*, they can happen to you or not [in my if I only had 1 bug where I crashed on the ground], other than that, there are *some massive and boring side missions*, and that really test the player's patience, like "spy on the conversation, and come back tomorrow (10x)". The game leaves the choice of the player focus on the main plot, or do side missions too, but in the first option the player will have a lot of difficulties, because through missions you get skill points to improve your character’s skills, that is, the game gives you sense of freedom, but *if you don't want to have a tortuous path, you need to spend more time on side missions*.

Another defect that everyone who played the game felt, is the *extremely long acts*. The base game has 3 acts, each for one character, and most of the people who play him stop playing when [Arthur’s] first act ends, which happened in my case. Because of the game mixing survival, with primary missions, and *indirectly mandatory secondary missions*, the acts end up taking too long. The average time is *7 hours per act if you focus on the main missions*, however, this will increase frighteningly difficult to finish.*If you do the side missions*, the path becomes easier, but much more long, rising from *12 to 14 hours per act*, so when you finish the first act after several hours, you literally think that the game is over, and you are satisfied with your trajectory, but then you realize that you only played 1/3 of the game.

Because the acts are independent of each other, portraying the story of each character separately, completing each would be the equivalent to end 3 different games, but it is still the same game, the same world, the same mechanics, differentiating only in gameplay characteristics of the character, in plot, and in missions, that is, it is not enough in most cases to interest you the player to continue the game.

You will finish the first act and be satisfied with the game, only very dedicated people will finish everything. Platinize the game is also something bordering on the impossible of the player's sanity, because for that it is necessary to get all the masks of memories lost by the world, and some are difficult to obtain, having access only at specific moments of each act, other than that it is necessary to have patience and dedication to complete the 3 very long acts.)

    => VERDICT:
The Verdict is that the game itself is incredibly unique and atmospheric, and even with all the problems it has, it is very worthwhile play, you finish the first act, and you will not regret doing it, because you will spend good hours to complete it by all. From then on, it is up to the player if he wants to complete the other 2 acts, which depends on how much you will like the game and the connection you will develop with him. The problems in general do not harm your experience with the game, it is worth investing a few hours in Arthur, and get him out of this crazy country addicted to Joy.

Retrofuturistic, totalitarian world created by Compulsion Games is fascinating, as we see bits and pieces of Kafka (a clerk rebelling against the system), Clockwork Orange (extreme violence), Douglas Adams (humor) or Half-Life (architecture) floating around. What failed is the execution, which turned We Happy Few into an unintentional parody of stealth games. The enemy AI is so lame that I repeatedly had an impression of starring in a lost episode of The Benny Hill Show, especially since the combat system is crude and production values leave a lot to be desired. The concept of We Happy Few has so much potential, but it feels like there were two teams with different level of talent working on this project. One team used this elaborate alternative world, stark visual style and and intriguing story, tried to lift it up. The other team was responsible for imbalanced, clumsy gameplay, pulled the game down. The result is 30 hours of very mixed feelings.
