    A must-have samurai sandbox title for those who treasure player agency and reactive narrative above high-level production values. WotS 4’s absurdist videogame take on Yojimbo is surreal, funny and magnificent.

    Surely the WotS is not a blockbuster that will turn the lights on it, as it is mainly addressed to the so-called fans of the genre. Everyone who adores this era and loves films like Seven Samurai and Yojimbo, will surely find a warmth in this title, the rest can try it in a break from their usual preferences and live the "Eastern Western" dream.

    This game reminds us how important is not to judge a book by its cover. Under its ugly exterior and behind the low-content veil a full-featured Samurai sandbox with sophisticated combat system is hidden. Not everyone will like it, but if you are interested in this topic, you would have hard time to find a better samurai game on PC. You just have to get over the bad script.

    The amount of freedom is a huge plus point, however, this is a port, so don’t expect 60fps and amazing graphics.

    This game lets me live out my fantasy of being tortured by three cute Japanese sisters. I love it.

Insanely good 'real life simulator' in other words! even if it's set in another time.
    When i first started it, I hated most of it, except running around and being a jerk. Soon I realized that most others in the game did the same.
    So I went in again and again. 48 hours straight no sleep and hardly any food (in real life) and tried to do things 'better' Not sure what play-through I'm in now, but at least I behave a bit better, and can sleep with almost a good conscience at times.

    One of the most addictive games I've stumbled upon, as I never even heard about it until recently, and never played any of the others. I would give it a 10/10 if it didn't crash when ALT+TAB, your dojo members and every ally jump into the fights, or just stand in your way when you try to deal a lethal blow to a horde of enemies, and the controls were so annoying at times.

    If you like samurais. playing dress-up and have a constant feeling that the world around you is messed up, while your char feels schizophrenic and even more messed up, it's a 'must have game!    … Expand

Anyone who is looking for something like Assassins's Creed or Batman will probably not enjoy this.

    This game will probably forever stay a niche title but does what it wants to do very well. You get thrown into a town without any backstory and get to make your own story depending on your decisions. There is 10 endings while 2 of them are "hidden", including a true ending which is not easy to achieve without a guide. There is a branching story with dozens of missions and over 150 side quests. You can pick from about 86 different styles which consist of about 20 moves each, while some styles have a few moves in common with others. There is also the option to create your own style, lead a dojo, do various minigames and make your own weapons. There is of course katanas but also: spears, pistols, unarmed combat which includes metal claws and dual wielding katanas. The controls are easy to learn but hard to master. One of the key points is learning when you have to block, dodge or activate the spring harvest mode which makes you attack a lot faster for a short period of times. There is various minigames like poker and japanese gambling as well as being tortured if you commit to many crimes and let yourself be caught by the law. Graphics are nothing spectacular but it looks quite ok for a 2011 ps3 port. So far the game is getting regular updates which fixed bugs and improved the controls. You can pick this up really cheap so if you enjoy swordfighting chances are you would enjoy this. If you are looking for another cod or borderlands you will probably be disappointed, also this game can be really hard and grindy so be aware that if you let your guard down even unnamed mobs can cut you down in 1 strike on easy, while a well equipped player character might survive a few blows on hard.    … Expand
