A terrible, broken, downgraded PC port that Ubisoft simply walked away after only a paltry effort of trying to fix it. Even it runs smoothly on your system you're really just buying a very mediocre GTA clone. Don't reward Ubisoft for dumping this clunker on PC gamers.

Visually the game looked great on both systems, the storyline is pretty solid and kept my attention and it brought some interesting new mechanics to a very tired genre.

My only negative was the car driving as others have commented, took a little getting used to, especially coming from GTA V ... but no worse than Saints Row mechanics. Oh and the soundtrack has a pretty strange selection of tunes (although great use of Ministry's Jesus Built My Hotrod).

I was fortunate though to pick this game up on a deal for under 10 euros, I'd held off buying it before due to the negative reviews. In hindsight, I would have quite happily paid full price.

I'm not normally a fan of ubisoft games which often lack substance but this I really enjoyed. The highlight for me is the dark story of vengeance which isn't clichéd and is really quite though provoking and mature. I think this game has ultimately suffered from unrealised hype pre release otherwise I think generally the review scores would be higher. I would definitely recommend giving this a go; you might like me be pleasantly surprised Expand

Very hyped and overall shallow game despite it being a sandbox. Controls are awkward and most of the missions are not impressive. There is nothing new here that you have not done in GTA. Multiplier is interesting for the first few hours but the fever dies down really quickly as there is little replay value.

This game is made to look good in screen-shots, but the game mechanics are very clunky, combat is frustrating and jerky, and so is driving. Watch Dogs doesn't bring anything new to the table. Everything here has been done better by other games, and what's worst of all, Watch Dogs is never fun.

The Graphics is good at night, but i hate the plastic Faces of most of the characters, it should be better for a new generation game.

The driving mechanics also feels terrible, and if u want to adjust the camera, sometimes it just jumps way too far.

The killing animation with the baton is always the same and sneaking feels terrible because of it. I dont think hitting someone with a baton is silent and you can't stranglehold someone for a shooting. Its not much but it should be possible.

There are plenty good open world games, which have more to do, better animation even if they are some years older. I just dont understand why Ubisoft isnt able to make a game with penty more features. Like every other game of ubisoft u can discover everything in Act 1 and test every hacking skill.
And after that there is nothing more to discover

It's still a good game, but everyone is fussing too much about the graphics not being the same as at E3 2012.

It promised amazing graphics and a deep open world, this is never achieved, but the 18 hour campaign featured here is one of the best open world campaigns I’ve played in a while..
Watch Dogs is a 3r5d person open world shooter game with a dash of puzzle…
You play as Aiden Pierce trying to get to the bottom of his Nieces murder…
The story telling in Watch Dogs is great… Especially when your focus changes from your niece to someone else that I won’t mention to prevent spoilers, but I feel like the transition was perfect due to that connection… it makes you care... it keeps you pushing forward… but at the same time you’re still going after everyone involved in the initial hit…
And again the writing and introduction to each character in the story is so great that you’ll either really love or really hate someone… you feel pierces emotion personally which creates a great deal of immersion in this story..
To get information on locations you have to hack into buildings and severs…
And there’s freedom in the way you can approach this…
Watch Dogs works great as a 3rd person shooter with an intuitive cover system… an easy to access weapons wheel, tons of weapon variety, a great amount of ammo and crafting parts for bombs… a great stealth system to silently take enemies down or take them out with a silenced pistol…
Or you can hack cameras and explosives…
I personally had the most fun jumping from camera to camera, waiting for opportunities to explode fuse boxes, trigger alarms for a takedown set up… activating the grenades inside of enemy pockets…
Many times during the story I didn’t have to fire a single bullet to get everything I came for..
I hopped from camera to camera hacked into the system and left…
Hacking here is very simple and comes down to a pipe type puzzle of feeding a blue line into other pieces and unlocking them. And these sections are the only mandatory hacking sections as again you can just play as a third person shooter if you’d like…
Outside of the 18 hour campaign though is the open world of Chicago and unfortunately the open world is the weakest aspect in the entire game…
Think of this more as a hub world to extend play time by spreading out mission locations, because ubisoft took 0 note in crafting this open world as it has issues in its open world I haven’t ran into since the PlayStation 2….
Cars will disappear from where you left them if you run into a building to start a mission and come back out…
During chases you have to ram cars to stop them or hack the world around you... which is actually a great deal of fun during intense chases, to blow up streets, raise bridges and road blocks while youre chasing or being chased by the police…
But you cant shoot out of your window to shoot out tires despite enemies being able to shoot while driving…
Another annoyance with these chase missions is that if you do get the person youre chasing stuck, you cant just pull them out of the vehicle theyre in… the only way to continue is shoot them through the window or get back into your car and ram them until they get out…
This isn’t too annoying in story, but is highly annoying in online play when you have a random player trying to hack you…
You can turn this feature off, but anyone at any time can enter your world and you can do the same entering there’s for rep, or co-op and competitive fun like races…
But again these are real people... not ai controlled enemies, so trying to get a head shot on someone in a vehicles is much harder to do in this instance…
And then theres hacking npcs to profile them…. To stop crimes from happening before they happen... I personally didn’t enjoy this aspect at all, I found it to be shallow filler and had no interest in doing random chases as again the campaign created such a great deal of urgency that it created tunnel vision for me…
While Wacth_Dogs didn’t deliver the ground breaking experience it promised.. If you can look past those promises for what it actually is, it’s a great game with a great story.
    I give Watch_Dogs
    an 8.5/10

I am a bit confused about the generally negative response of this game. I absolutely loved it. As far as I could tell, it was am improved version of GTA5, which was unanimously adored.

Reasons I enjoyed it more than GTA: 1) The hacking is AMAZING. Completely innovative and completely fun at the same time. Raising bollards so a chasing car smashes into them was incredibly satisfying.

Reasons I enjoyed it more than GTA:

    1) The hacking is AMAZING. Completely innovative and completely fun at the same time. Raising bollards so a chasing car smashes into them was incredibly satisfying. Scouting an area by going camera to camera was a genius idea. Playing GTA after getting used to the hacking felt like playing with a hand behind your back.

    2) I actually liked Aiden, he felt like a good guy, unlike Trevor who was a dick. I don't like playing as the bad guy.

    3) The raw gameplay was simply more fun, I think largely due to the hacking mechanic. Whether driving through the city or in a shoot out, this game was simply more enjoyable. I will admit that the gameplay was less varied in this game compared to GTA5 (many of the campaign missions were simply repackaged side quests), but I value fun more than variety.

    4) My favorite part were the hideouts (like outposts in Far Cry 3+4). They were absolutely fantastic, and there is no equivalent in GTA5. They were so good it seemed a shame to relegate them to side quests to be honest. I also enjoyed the CTOS towers bits (similar to towers, again in Far Cry) they were similar to hideouts except more puzzle based than shooting based. Brilliant.

    5) Learning the career and salary of everyone you walked past was another genius touch, and really made it feel more immersive.

The reason this isn't a ten is due to the plausible complaints that the PC graphics were held back to stop showing up the consoles. This isn't cool. Hopefully Ubisoft have learnt from the negative feedback and won't do it again.

Story is ok, mainly about someone who wants to get revenge on a killer and ends up killing a fair few people himself, partly depending how you play him. Maybe the dialogue and characters aren't that great but it's better than some movies.

Some good mini games that are like separate Android phone games , and other side missions that are more about game play than story. And the graphics are fine, I also only encountered one major bug that didn't affect the game at all.

By all means, this form of false advertising has to stop. Also, getting hours less of playtime because i didnt bought the "Digitale Deluxe" Edition is just wrong and should not be supported.

For the game itself, its your average GTA style game. The story is very odd and inconsistent. The one moment i beat someone up with a basbeall bat, then i'm visiting my nephew, then i'm suddenly Badass McBadBat again. The side Missions are extremly dull and usually consist of dozens of heavily armed dudes getting thrown at you. You have whole military-like mob convoys driving trough the city. Whoever runs the city is probably the worst police state in the history of gaming.

The gameplay is uber-realistic. You have a three meter turn radius, every car handles like a formula one car that has tanked cerosine and the gunplay is quite odd. That said, there are good things in watchdogs and its fun to **** around with the city, but its not enough to keep me want to play it.

In the end, Watch_Dogs is not a bad game. Its just extremely average.

I must admit the driving is god awful and I get constant frame skips whilst driving so I had to lower the texture quality from High to Medium even though the game runs really smooth whilst on foot. Controlling driving is probably the worst I have seen in a third person open world game ever, EVER, even with a gamepad. Besides driving, the game is really solid, the world feels alive, and with the help of the profiler gadget, it really helps humanise the NPC's. The hacking game mechanic is a really nice feature and can cause some really amazing action sequences and cop chase strategies. Stealth is really fun, gunplay is nice and smooth, haven't finished the story mode yet but from what I've played it's not too bad. Do I recommend you get this game? Probably not. Pros:
    - Lots of things to do.

    - Multiplayer invasions are fun for a few times.

    Cons:
    - The story. My brain, it hurts. So many cliches. I thought the first two acts were bad, and then I got to act 4... where there's a Deadmau5 rip off and two missions that contain every bad hacker and computer stereotype for the last 35 years, from Wargames to The Matrix.

    - The story 2.0. Aiden Pearce, the vigilante whose identity the entire world knows. That's a pretty shoddy vigilante. Imagine if everyone knew who Batman or The Shadow was within the first hour of their stories. They wouldn't be nearly as compelling, right? Neither is "The Fox", Aiden Pearce. Also, the secondary characters were supposed to be computer geniuses but came across as bumbling idiots (looking at you, T-Bone Grady).

    - Hacking. Press Q. Press Q. Press Q. Press Q. Press Q. There, I've summarized the entire hacking "mechanic" in the game.

    - There are perhaps TOO MANY things to do and TOO MANY things to collect, with very few of the collections or mini-games offering compelling rewards to complete.

    - The driving mechanics are atrocious which makes playing Online Race mode frustrating as hell.

    - Multiplayer becomes stale, fast.

    - Lastly, and obligatory: Terrible graphical optimization with clearly cross gen textures and engine design. Faces look great during cutscenes (which are rendered in real time) but beyond that, even on Ultra, the game is decidedly lacking in the graphics department.

Clearly primed to be Ubisoft's next big franchise. Hopefully the next iteration has a less cliche story, more diverse hacking, and a better engine.

    It does have it's problems...
    1. The default mouse and keyboard control on PC needs fixing. Mouse control is plagued with console helpers such as movement acceleration and laggy unrefined movement. Don't expect to turn and shoot accurately with 1:1 ratio like with 99% of other PC games, try 30% accuracy.
Adjusting the XML settings file helped quite a bit but it is still cumbersome... Not to the point where I stopped playing, sure it took me 10x more retries on some missions because of the bad mouse controls (quickly aiming and shooting an enemy accurately is very tricky), but I persisted purely because this game is actually a good game overall.

    2. Driving controls using the mouse+Kbd is a headache. I though GTA was bad, this game is twice as bad as GTA.
Hold the arrow keys down a bit too long and the car slides out. Hold the arrow key a bit too short and nothing happens.

Graphics are good, not great. In high lit areas everything looks like a 2007 game, but things looks quite good in darker lit or sunset scenario's.

The wireless hacking idea is fresh and works well.
I like how you can jump from camera to camera, steal ATM codes, activate bridges, etc..

Audio is excellent, decent actors, lots of variety.

Gameplay is questionable as pointed above.
But ignoring the mouse problems, the path finding and overall movement is decent. No excessive "stuck in animation and cant move where I want' issues like with many other games of late (i.e. Splinter Cell).

Missions can be quite enjoyable, especially the gang hideout missions. Drawing the cops in to take out the bad guys is challenging and rewarding when done properly.
However after completing a mission, there is some 'ok what do I do now'. Scanning the map for something to do, ignoring the boring sub-games. Chess, 3D pacman, race from point A to point B... I would prefer more missions where you need to infiltrate buildings/hideouts, track down and chase other hackers, something that requires a bit of intelligence please...

80/100 due to bad mouse keyboard controls.
93/100 if they fix the mouse/keyboard problems.

This game gets a bad rap because of the hype around it. I was lucky enough to miss all the hype and play the game for what it is. All around a solid game. I will definitely play any sequals (though none of the DLC, because I feel I have played Chicago out).

First things first this game singleplayer is not that great its kind of repetitive and the shooting is very easy, including the fact you can line up headshots behind cover. The story is pretty bland and the main character Aiden is bland and sounds like Batman with a head cold. A few of the characters though feel unique and are a great addition to the bland protagonist. The hacking is quite simple and is split up into a skills tree where you can select what you find useful from wrecking vehicles with traffic lights or using bridges as a ramp. The profiler system is great and hacking into civilians bank accounts and phone calls makes the world feel alive. The singleplayer and multiplayer are integrated well as you can connect to a session via your phone and keep playing the game until you have properly connected. There are 2 modes which allow you to hack into somebodys single player world and tail them or install a backdoor installation both of these tasks require stealth and your opponents can use the cameras around them to spot you offguard. There is also a race mode which is fairly basic which Is just normal driving with nitro. My two favourite modes were online decryption and online free roam. Decryption is a competitive sort of capture the flag game mode, and you can choose to select preset loadouts for your playing style, and you can use skills you've learnt from singleplayer into effect to help you and your team win. Free roam on the other hand was one of my favourite gamemodes I felt isolated when I wasn't playing with friends, but when I was, it was amazing and you can use the uplay chat to communicate. In this mode you can use everything from you singleplayer world including cars, weapons and skills and screw around in Chicago or Pawnee. The physics in this game are quite dodgy but not gamebreaking but hilarious making things funner, by getting ridiculous airs and doing crazy stunts online. Controls : Badly ported consolized controls (mouse speed all over the place & inconsistent from one menu to the next, 1 second laggy delay in all movements (compared to 0.3-0.6s in most fluid games), smartphone menu is a simulated analog stick, predictive targeting keeps jumping about, cannot crouch or jump without "contextual" actions, "uncovering" takes a few seconds to "unstick" from a wall, combat feels massively clunky, sluggish aiming and poor "gunplay" in general.

Driving : BADLY game-breakingly broken (long 1s delay in turning regardless of speed, brakes unresponsive, two speeds - stop and 80mph, can't shoot from vehicles, collision detection broken with oncoming traffic & objects), etc. Physics are a joke (everything either weighs 100 tons or is totally weightless and there's no sense of friction on the roads at all).

AI : Police "rubber-banding" ruins fun of chases, AI characters/cars spawn & despawn 20 meters from you especially during chases, AI broken on crime quests (if you take down a mugger, NPC's will treat you AS the mugger), helicopter locks laser sight on you even when zigzagging at 80mph, side missions get spammed too fast. The city looks alive, but only as long as you don't interact with anything (you can't even talk to anyone), immersion breaking contradictory random tags "HIV positive blood donor", etc.

Hacking : Nothing more than "Press Q to win" novelty which becomes boring after first 20mins and is nonsensical anyway (hack mechanical steam pipes?), hacking traffic lights ahead merely creates jams in the middle of the road where you want to drive (and pursuing enemies are so close they bypass it), hacking a bridge will simply cause police to "teleport spawn" the other side anyway after 5 seconds, trying to hack behind you (looking back) is impossible without crashing, super annoying hack puzzles.

Nonsensical plot : Aiden is a "hero" who got his own niece killed whilst committing a crime (then blames everyone else) then since goes on a crime-fuelled rampage - to stamp out crime), Aiden keeps saying he needs to remain anonymous when the authorities and the media mentions him on the news all the time. Aiden doesn’t want to get arrested, so later on he gets arrested in order to break into prison to intimidate a witness there who can identify him even though the police already know who he is and are after him. Missions get ultra repetitive & tedious (I stuck with it for 8hrs up until Act 1 ("Not The Pizza Guy") then gave up out of sheer boredom as they're all the same recycled "meet contact and escape ambush" cut & paste sub-plots that are obvious padding to make the game longer than it should be,

GFX : Texture pop-in, GFX texture quality low and massively dumbed down from E3 footage (ie, blatantly false & dishonest marketing), poor performance, chronic stutter, missing face texture bug, AMD cards run 20-40% slower than they should, lengthy unskippable cutscenes (made worse by lack of quick/manual saves), alt-Tabbing back & forward loses VSync & triple buffering requiring highly annoying switching from fullscreen to borderless and then back to fullscreen again to avoid 30fps lock in rate (and usual D3Doverrider fix doesn’t work due to game being 64-bit), some building sign textures are low-res & have visible JPEG artifacts.

Everything else : Dual DRM (Uplay + Steam), no quicksave or multiple save slots (see +300 pages on Ubisoft support forum about game-breaking save-game corruption for why this is important), Some journalists were openly bribed with a free Nexus 7 'gift', long load times, final boss QTE, all that "city scale freedom" and you still get “You are leaving the mission area” messages, people’s metadata feels contrived and on an obvious "random number generator" algorithm after 20-30mins of play, overheard phone conversations reused over & over. 95% of the Skill Tree makes little difference to gameplay, 90% loading screen bug, unbalanced weapons (pistol more powerful than grenade launcher). Ludicrously inefficient (3GB VRAM required for ugly textures complete with JPEG ringing artifacts?)

Overall : A nasty little PC port of a game that falls way short of what could be great potential. Maybe a sequel will fix what's broken, but this is one wildly over-hyped train-wreck.

Graphical optimisation is poor, but the graphics themselves are great on Ultra settings, just a shame that you can't play it on Ultra without frame skipping and slowdown.

Storyline is bland and boring, nothing at all like how it was advertised during the E3 promos and recent storyline trailers, but the side missions and additional stuff is on par with GTA V, which is not what can be said for the driving. The cars drive like they are made of unresponsive clay with lubricant on the tyres, and seem to pivot rather than drive like any open world game cars I have played with. The motorbike is great though, which I use whenever possible. It feels like it's designed to not drive at full speed around the city, and instead drive like an old lady, following all the lights and signs etc.

The UI is good, feeling clean and slick, giving little bits of information about everything around you as you approach it, and often giving you a chuckle as you find out what people have been searching for online, or buying alot of, or taking part in, via the little pop up vignettes that show on any NPC in the game.

    Good points:
    - City is huge (not compared to GTA V but big enough)
    - Graphics are lovely after you find your sweet spot
    - Side missions and free roaming is great fun
    - Multiplayer is really original, and alot of fun to play

    Bad points:
    - uPlay (forced DRM, online reliance for the good features)
    - Day 1 DLC (big bad move for any company to do this)
    - Storyline feels boring and empty, characters have no personality
    - Car driving is absolutely awful (really really bad)
    - Hacking, while intended to be simple, feels over simplified
    - Game is barely anything like the one that was advertised
    - Price is ridiculous, I got it for free and still feel a little ripped off
    - If GTA V was out on PC, this game wouldn't get a second look from anyone

Overall, I am enjoying it, performance issues aside, but only really for the stealthy part of the gameplay and the secondary quests, as the main storyline is boring. Would recommend, if you can pick it up cheap on Kinguin or similar.

On top of this the mouse sensitivity is completely skewed, yet you cannot change it to your liking. Another minor issue would be that the 'hacking' is holding the q button for 2 seconds. I would have liked it to be a bit more difficult for things such as ATM's. My last complaint, and this is the most important, is that the game runs like absolute **** I get a frame rate above 50 fps, but the cut scenes are incredibly choppy. In addition to this my computer can run games like Battlefield 4 on all high/ultra high settings, yet when running this game I cannot play the game on anything past low. This really irks me considering the game is in cooperation with Nvidia, which is the brand GPU that I have. Its not amazing, and so far it is a bit sub-par to some of the other games I have played recently. It is not.

This point is actually important because if you keep comparing this with GTA you will fail so I suggest you to compare this game with AC series for more accurate feeling.

I'll start with the graphics. Although they are not as good as E3 demo, graphics are actually quite nice but there are some stuff like fake reflection that kinda throws you out of that universe but textures and waters are awesome. And by saying waters are awesome they are INCREDIBLY awesome. Seriously, Ubi should promote the hell out of people dealing with water stuff. Other than that graphics are not as bad as people say they are.

I'll agree with music though, it REALLY sucks. I mean I can understand that they don't want to spend a lot of money with copyright stuff but they should've thrown some famous hit songs here and there that will make you feel badass. You may have experienced some audio stuttering so for that I STRONGLY suggest you to do the following:

    -Create a shortcut of watchdogs.exe
-right click->properties->add "-disablepagefilecheck" without quotes at the end of the "target" section

Since this is a Ubi game, it is filled with bugs and optimization problems (as expected from Ubi) so I think you might wanna wait until a patch fix or Nvidia update for optimization but by adding -disablepagefilecheck, I managed to get all stuttering to stop and experienced an acceptable overall framerate

The story is actually quite good, I mean it is a little bit cliche but characters feel real (unlike Connor from AC3...god I hated that character...). Also hacking stuff is kinda fun but it might get repetitive over time. Also Ubi could have spent a bit more time and resources to make this game open as hell; for instance by adding hacking option to a lot of buildings to see inside of the apartments. I mean they have that in the game but they could've made it in every building and with random results (sometimes the apartment could be empty or could have several different scenes, like at first there are some couples arguing and at a later time those couples are divorcing etc...). Hacking through stuff to see everywhere is a giant privacy problem, one that could be used to create an amazingly immersive world. Random npc reactions around are good enough IMO so the city feels live enough.

Car physics feels really weak though. Most of the time it is just you driving a carton box around, it doesn't have the "car" feeling to it. Although there are a lot of side quests and collectibles around, it gets repetitive easily and you start to feel that they are just burden to you and skip them. On a side note, I STRONGLY suggest you to try out the spider-tank minigame, because that was THE most fun I've ever had in this game!

AI is really cool. They don't pop their heads for no reason and tactically they do fine against you (flanking and shooting at you the moment you pop your head out). Also I find the options of hacking before and while fighting satisfying. You can use cameras to see the battlefield and approach tactically to it by using different hacking tools on your opponents' technology.

Generally the game is actually quite nice and different, even though it doesn't have that "next gen" feeling to it so I can understand fellow reviewers' disappointment with it but I suggest you to buy this game and play it, you are not going to be sorry, as long as you don't see this game as "The ultimate hacking game" or "GTA-Killer" rather than "an action game in which you use hacking and guns to get around".

Everyone just keeps comparing it to GTA which is not a credible source. They are two totally different games, and in my honest opinion Watch Dogs is better. You feel like you are immersed in a city. Its not lifeless like people on here are saying. NPC's are not stupid, there is alot to do in the city. The gameplay, and the motion feels refreshing. Steady 60fps for me, no hiccups. The story is really interesting, and grabs you right from the beginning. I have been a gamer for over half of my life, and this is the most interesting/refreshing game out there. Everything it does is new. You feel like you are playing a game that does a good job in stepping into the new generation. The skill tree is a great addition. You feel like you are gaining progress throughout the entire game. Now I can see why people have problems with this game. If you don't have a great computer you may face some perfermance issues, but seriously guys its 2014 upgrade your PC. Less than 8 gigs ram, and I wouldn't even try to play this game. Another problem that I have is the driving. It was pretty tough for me to get used to, but eventually once I grasped the controls it actually became a real joy to drive around. Hacking is pretty linear, but it has its freedom. Honestly the free roam is endless. There are so many things to do in the game world, and I haven't even tried multiplayer yet. Please for the sake of everybody DO NOT listen to GTA fanboys. DO NOT listen to the people who have crap PCs saying this game is garbage. Play this game for yourself it is not a waste of 60 bucks. In this review, im gonna be honest, and tell you the truth. Not the **** making review that haven´t played this game, because people HONESTLY dont know what the **** is a 0-3 out of 10. Go see Mindjack, then you know.

This game is a really the best graphics on the market yet, and yes, i felt like it looked bad on the livestreams, but that was just the haters making it look so bad, but the game is actually looking really good, i was actually sometimes (even at morning) strolling around for looking at the game - it looks really good on Ultra and high, and i can agree with people saying that this game is only for rich gamers, or something playing on maxed out (as i do), but that doesn´t really care, because the game looks great too on High.

The game has a really an addicting gameplay. I was playing 10 hours straight, and i couldn´t even stop. People saying that this game is boring after 2 hours, have some ****ing problems. The game has too some kind of soul in the game, fx: When you´re walking on the streets, you´re seeing alot of people, but none of them looks the same (As cough GTA cough..), and some of them are actually doing stuff that makes you stop up, and look. The game comes sometimes with a random mission saying like "CRIME DETECTED! CLICK X FOR Destination!" Which makes the game not boring at-all; Sometimes, i was a bit stressed in the game because you really want to complete the crime, and you really want to try the Gang Hideout (Which shows the good stealth in this game), and sometimes you really want to try criminal convoy (Which is a tactical gameplay) And the criminal convoy, is exactly what that makes the game REALLY, and yes, REALLY gets the game to look look a ****ing badass movie! It works like that there´s 3 (sometimes 4) Trying to get the money/hash/armory away from the city (You´ll meet russians lol), which makes it extremely hard to complete, because people needs to be saved (like in the E3 Gameplay 2012), but TRUST me, it doesn´t work trying to **** around, even on medium they´re trolling, you, and just to say: THE. NPCS. ARE. NOT. DUMB. And why are they not dumb? Well because: 1st: They´re calling reinforcements, which makes you ****ed sometimes, because they´re coming from behind, and the front of you. 2nd: They´re not just YOLO'ing in this game. They´re going to immediatly find cover, and they´re running behind you, to **** you up. 3rd: When they´re driving, the (secret) guards will dodge your shots that you´re shooting, and try to drive as near, as possible, and they will drive behind you, to get your ass pwned 7 times in a row. 4th: If you´re in a shop, and there´s a TV Screen, and there´s coming news about you, the owner will react in 2 different ways 1st. He´s going to warn ctOS with an alarm under the desk. 2nd: He will say to you, if he knows that you´re a good guy "Hey, dont bring me in trouble. Get out of here!" Then he will hide under the desk, and not warn the police.

The skill tree in this game is extremely helpful to survive in this game, and it has a lot of different skills to upgrade, the one im upgrading most, is combat, and hacking (which is a bit important in this game). And i really love the skill tree, and a lot more than far cry 3 Showed us.

The first time driving in this game is really special for you when you start, but i learned it faster than i could count to 20. It´s really easy to drive in this game, and it feels like a driving game, because you will feel the difference when you´re driving in this game, in any other game, like this: Muscle cars is the most difficult to drive, and they have a handling like a leopard have. The normal racer cars, and performance cars will sometimes have a really badass driving, and handling, when the normal cars will just feel uninteresting to drive in.

FINAL VERDICT: The game has some bugs, which all game has, and it´s not like "OMG TOO MANY BUGS KILLING MYSELF" It has like some strange bugs, which only with trying to make a glitch, or trying to **** it up. I must say, that i dont understand people that have rated this game, they should really be tortured for saying something so bad, even gamefront was stupid enough to jump on the train. Many will think, when im giving it a rate on 10: "Lol, ya dont mean it, right?" And yes, i do. This game lived COMPLETELY up to its hype, but it seems like it was only GTA Idiots that reviewed this game, and GTA, cant ****ing beat this game, at all. The history is full of surprises too: ((SPOILER)) BadBoy17 in this game will be Clara Lille, which is a really big surprise for me.

This game deserves with a golden badge 9/10: Addicting Gameplay, extremely perfect design, AND AI/Tech too!

Watch Dogs is a great game whit the originality, Don't compare it with GTA 5 or Saints Row, those two game are good but Watch dogs is different open world game and more than that, its not only being the bad guy using a gun. Watch dogs is better than that. This game was more focusing on hacking, that never appear in other game, Enjoy the hacking, it's a nex gen game!

This game is Good but it has its flaws The NPCS are retarded and there's not much to do aside from taking over the Stations for control over the area. all in all The game is over hyped i pre purchased it and was Really exited for it But when it finished installing it was fairly disappointing. Id wait for a price drop or a sale. The game did have its moments but got bored after an hour.

Running this on an i7 and a 780ti it looks pretty but still struggles with frame rates.

All in all, the the concepts are good in this game but it feels like they've been bolted together without any thought. The hacking becomes dull quickly and the vehicles have zero weight and therefore are terrible to drive.

Personally, I'd give this a miss.

    Things I don't like about Watch_Dogs:

    - Armoured enemies are lame way to make the game harder. - You can't shoot at helicopters because they are mostly above you while chase is on. - Snipers (Also chopper, which is a bi*ch) aim is ALWAYS locked at Aiden's head. Which is just way too unrealistic. - There's no crouch, just cover. - Enemies often know your exact position right away. -

    + Huge open world

    + Acting is brilliant
+ Hacking is fun as all hell, and helps interaction in the world
+ It's beautiful (Even if it's not as good as E3, it still has graphics on par to GTA V)

What it does... not so good:
    - Optimisation is abysmal. Even on the best rig possible, Ultra won't hold a frame rate above 60FPS. People that have obnoxious rigs want 120FPS, and if they can't get that, that's bad.
    - Logic. You can steal a high performance car while everyone is around and run them down. No cops.
Aim a gun at someone, or steal a car, every cop in Chicago!
    - Reputation System is pointless. Kill people, Save people; there is still no influential consequences or rewards for it.
    - Even though it's beautiful, render distance of objects are terrible

The big thing about this is the morality choices you are given from seeing the personal information from Profiling them makes you not want to kill people like you do in GTA V and Saints Row, and that is a good reason to try to be a good person.

As I said, as a new IP it's amazing. There are things Ubisoft can improve on exponentially, and they will be working on patches maybe for the next six months, and I would see that Watch_Dogs 2 will improve the series beyond anything we've seen already. Don't be so hard on a game that has the potential to knock Grand Theft Auto off their pedestal, because I already see their tower getting a few dints from this game already.

The trailers do this best but the whole purpose of the free roam is to be a realistic hero with all the cities gadgets at your fingertips. Walking around the city you can profile every person, listen to their phone calls, read their texts, hack into their bank accounts and occasionally you come across a criminal. Vigilante justice is then in your hands. This is what watch dogs offers.
The way Watch Dogs blends multi-player into single player is genius, I almost got hacked twice whilst I was free roaming between missions. TBH free roaming has gripped me more than the story-line so far but I'll see where it goes.
This game is compared to GTA 5 which in my opinion is not fair considering Rockstar have not released a PC version of GTA 5. If they did, I reckon it would be as demanding on high end game PC's as Watch Dogs which is why they haven't done so. The fact is, watch dogs is an open world game with to many elements to count for. It has elements similar to the free running of Sleeping Dogs, the driving of GTA IV, alongside the gun mechanics of mafia 2, with the similar ambient lighting affects of far cry 3 as well as the new hacking system. Alot of bang for your buck. The stealth side of Watch Dogs to me felt alot like Hitman Absolution. I was running this game on a GTX 660, with 4GB of ram and an AMD FX processor, for a gaming rig it is not great but walking the streets was fluid, I didn't bother driving because I had a stupidly low fps.
This is the type of game I expected when Rockstar released GTA IV, so yes, Watch Dogs map is small(er) compared to GTA V but Watch Dogs a few updates down the line will be quality.
It is an incredibly demanding PC game considering just to run the game textures on high you need 2 GB of GPU memory and 3GB for Ultra. My rig does run it on ultra at around 10 fps and it is truly a work of art. I have not been this impressed into a games aesthetics since Farcry 3, but at-least that runs smoothly.
I would like to of seen some physical restraint to the amount of weapons you can carry because for a realistic game, to be able to carry three sub-machine guns and three pistols is a little bit 90's. Considering the availability of money in watch dogs it would not make a difference if Aiden could only carry 25 bullets. He could easily buy more at the store after he's robbed a few citizens.

Much like battlefield (they even marketed this) allows for the emergence of those battlefield moments, Los Santos and LC managed to offer the kind of sandbox in which great things CAN happen. Ubisoft's attempt at this seems to have failed, the city doesn't feel real, the activities seem limited, the streets appear sterile and artificial. All of this is underlined by the physics of driving that just do not create the sense of weight and speed that GTA has gotten gamers used to. Also, the hype surrounding the game and the 6 month delay really means that Ubisoft had to deliver a gamechanger, instead they gave us a mediocre open world game...like sleeping dogs minus the moves or Just Cause 2 minus flying...or Saints Row minus the madness. This game is a bit of a mixed bag, in more ways than one. It tries to be a lot of things (open world, GTA clone, role-playing... something like a cross between GTA and Skyrim. The result is a game that excels at certain things, but fails woefully at others.

    Pros:
    * A LOT of work has gone into the design of "Chicago". And it's clear that there's a lot of affinity for the place; one set of collectibles is about city hotspots, that tell some story about Chicago (often involving Al Capone and other gangsters).
    * There are little things that add nothing to the gameplay, but so much more to the atmosphere. For example, somebody is playing with a football, trying to keep it up and losing it; somebody else is welding a pipe; a third guy is painting over graffiti. It makes the place much more alive, more real.
    * The puzzles are, by and large, fun. You have to try to hack something, and follow lines to where there's something you can unlock. Sometimes it's visible, sometimes you need one or more cameras. You then get treated to scene that can be fun, or disturbing, or anything in between.
    * The way you can control the world with the "hacking" is endless fun. I could spend hours watching cars crash because I hacked traffic lights.

    Cons:
    * Performance is not all there. Before the Geforce Experience set the optimal settings for my card (an ageing GTX580) it was almost unplayable, especially when driving. Now it's OK, although there's still the occasional glitch.
    * The game forces you into a certain way of playing, and that's annoying. I can very well decide for myself how I play. Case in point: gang hideouts.
    * Some (side) missions you fail time and again, especially if you don't play the way the game wants you too. There's an incredibly high annoyance factor at times, especially when you need to melee (not shoot) someone, or even three, while his mates will shoot at you, call reinforcements, and do all sorts of things to make you fail the mission.
    * Uplay. I don't want yet another pointless launcher on my PC. I've got Steam and that's all I need. I don't want to have to create an account either.
    * Server availability. In the first few days it was terrible; now it's OK. But why do I need to connect to their servers if I want to play?
    * Online elements. There's this thing called "online invasion", switched on by default, where some random player breaks into your session and steals your points. It took me three or four times before the settings understood that I really didn't want this. Helloooo! There's a reason why I play single player games: I don't WANT to play with others. But even after you switch off Online Invasion, you still get constant requests for races, hacking or whatever from other people. And this you can't switch off. Worse, you need to do some of these things in order to unlock weapons and such.

So for an open-world game, it's pretty pedantic in thinking that it knows what's best for you. And that's its major weakness, together with the sometimes nigh impossible side missions.

Bugs are few but there are some issues in multiplayer connection.
The bad part is for example side missions are extremely lazy and repetetive, grindy feeling they bring, game being too easy (to conform retarted casuals probably), story feeling cheesy, main character being sorta underdeveloped, most minigames are plain bad and pointless (apart from unlocks), day-1 greedy DLCs marketing. The only flaws in Watch Dogs are a couple graphical anomalies like flashing lights on rare occasions and not so polished driving when using the mouse and keyboard. To fix the driving problem, I just used a Xbox 360 controller to play Watch Dogs.

I'm tired of everyone trying to compare Watch Dogs to GTA. It's not GTA. The only thing they have in common is they are an open world game set in an urban environment as opposed to being set in the past like AC or in tropical settings like Far Cry.

As for people saying that Watch Dogs graphics are bad, then they have clearly not played the game on max graphics. I've played Watch Dogs with Ambient Occlusion on highest quality, AA on MXAA x8 and everything else on max and my game ran as smooth as butter except for the occasional random fps drop, however, it was usually only for a second and didn't happen that often. For the most part, the games graphics are well optimized but it has a few rare graphical issues but the problems are probably to do with the graphics drivers and not the game itself.

The game is gorgeous on max graphics, especially at night or when it's raining. When you ride through Chicago at night when it is raining, it's incredibly beautiful. The lights of the city reflecting off the water pooling on the streets and side walks, the fog hanging in the air, it's amazing. I've seen the PS4 graphics first hand at my friend's house and they don't hold a light to the PC versions graphics at max settings.

For those claiming that Watch Dogs is unoptimized and they can't play the game except on low settings even with a powerful computer, most of them are using AMD cards. It's not just Watch Dogs that AMD has had issues with. There have been too many games to count that AMD drivers fail at playing on. If you cheap out and buy an AMD graphics card, you shouldn't be outraged when it has problems playing a game. My Nvidia GTX 780 plays the game perfectly fine at max settings.

I also saw a review that claimed that the game has no physics, which is an obvious lie. Aiden's clothes have physics on them. His coat blows in the wind and when you ride a motorcycle. Also, when you crash into another car while riding a motorcycle, you go flying through the air with ragdoll physics. When you neutralize other vehicles, you can see the physics in the crash scenes, with several times seeing cars being launched in the air and flipping.

The game gives you total freedom to do what you want, when you want. There are plenty of side missions to keep you busy between main campaign missions. The multiplayer is always fun when you invade another unsuspecting player.

In conclusion, the game is great and has all the hallmarks of becoming an amazing franchise. As with any first game in a franchise, it does have it's problems but they will most certainly be improved in future installments. If you are looking for a good game that will occupy you for endless hours, then you should definitely buy this game. As for most of the other reviews that are very low on here, most of them are either GTA fanboys that feel threatened by a game that isn't trying to compete with GTA or they are people who are using AMD graphics cards that are outraged the game doesn't work when it's an AMD driver problem and not a Watch Dogs problem.

The Critic reviews on this are obviously bought and paid for, so take them with a grain of salt.

That being said, go look at the last review of Grand Theft Auto and add in a that it's an awful port with a less than engaging story involving characters you'll find it very hard to care about, the controls are about as sluggish as possible with no hope of fine movements without a lot of trial and error sensitivity changes outside of the game, and a story line that just doesn't make much sense.

This game is at best Grand Theft Auto with a focus on hacking. At worsts, it's a really bad Grand Theft Auto with a focus on hacking. Don't get me wrong, the idea of hacking is a great inclusion -- you just can't insert it into what looks like an attempt at a rockstar game and hope it carries the weight all by itself.

Now to the actual game, it's good and fun, it's kind of a mixture of GTA, Splinter cell, with a little Assassin's creed on top. It has a good story, although it can be predictable. I like the way you can attack missions head on or use stealth and cameras to neutralize the enemies. I do recommend this game and from what I've read if you run Nvidia, you'll likely have a smoother experience with it, but for us AMD users it's not really optimized very well yet and might be worth waiting on if you haven't picked it up yet. Well, I find it more enjoyable than Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 and the combat mechanics superior to Sleeping Dogs.

For the most part, I'm like the game. Fictional Chicago feels real. The visuals and lighting are impressive. Although graphic quality is a sticking point with gamers lately, most are over zealous. Watch Dogs maintains high graphic fidelity while simultaneously pushing cool visual effects. When Aiden's profiler app is active, information is constantly streaming in about people and environments. Viewing Chicago thru a hacked camera takes mere seconds as the whole world is shifted to different perspectives. Even fast traveling is speedy. These seamless transitions are handled in true Ubisoft fashion. That's a good thing. Despite the huge world, it only takes up 22gb of space. THANK YOU UBISOFT!! I'm tired of 50gb+ games that offer less and look worse.

Hacking is easy, unlike the cumbersome minigames in Dues Ex HR. In combat, hacking can be combined with stealth to provide tactical advantages. Players can craft items that will distract opponents or knock out the power grid. Hacking bridges and stoplights while driving allows speedy getaways. So one touch hacking makes sense and keeps the pacing brisk. Or players can use lethals and blow up everything in sight. And focus mode slows down time long enough for players to pick off a few baddies. The cover system is perfect for stealth, and focus mode is a treat for those who like to place headshots. However, driving is clunky and cars handle horribly. Unfortunately, players are forced to complete dozens of frustrating chases.

There are side missions, but they don't feel quite as repetitive as Far Cry 3. There are different online game modes such as racing, and players can invade other people's games. Fortunately, the invasion mode can be turned off for those who only want to focus on the missions.

Unfortunately, the game is not PC optimized. There is micro stuttering, fps drops, and sound hiccups. Thankfully, ATI’s latest beta driver address those. Now, I generally only experience problems if textures are set to Ultra. For now, I'm forced to leave textures at High. Occasionally, the game force quits and frames still stutter. Without ATI's effort, Watch Dogs would be unplayable. The game is extremely RAM hungry. My system RAM will peak at 5gb but my GPU's VRAM won't go past 70% load. That's a console port legacy and explains the issue with Ultra textures.

Although gameplay is fun, there are frustrations. I can't tell Aiden which car door to exit. I've automatically exited the side of a car taking all the gun fire. Stupid. I wanted to exit the passenger door and use my car as cover while placing a few shots. Nope. And I agree with critics that hacking is superficial. It seems most beneficial while evading pursuers. However, I really think Ubisoft is trying to force players to use multiple play styles. If all enemies could be hacked, the game would be too easy. If hacking was complicated, then it becomes Deus Ex. The dilemma for Ubisoft was establishing the right balance. It wants players to engage in combat. So hacking is only advantageous for gaining intel, thinning out enemies, or escaping.
Aiden's carries every gun, lethal, and hacking device he touches. Also, his phone (the primary hacking device) has an infinite power supply. Even if the battery drains, recharges quickly. Need grenades? Just craft those on the go. Get the point? It’s way too easy. The missions can be challenging depending on the approach players take. But there is always the temptation to take the easy route: Blow everything up and shoot survivors. There is one huge annoyance. If Aiden dies during a mission, his car disappears. So players can be stuck with a POS clunker for one of the dozens of chases unless they restart the mission.

The story is OK. It doesn’t have the depth of Sleeping Dogs, but it’s more enjoyable than FC 3. The ceaseless propaganda is annoying . Even if car radios are disabled, advertising and "news" will still play conveying the same message over and over: Is technology evil? Are we giving up privacy for convenience? I'm tired of hearing that every 2 minutes. The lack of subtlety is irritating after the 10th time it plays. Dues Ex did a much better job conveying a similar message.

Watch Dogs is a great effort by Ubisoft into GTA's world. In fact, I say it’s a must own. Despite the gimmicky hacking, the game is fun. I'm disappointed by the buggy PC launch. The PC gaming market is much larger than big publishers acknowledge, just look at Steam's success. ATI did what it could, but Ubisoft needs to push more patches now. The game deserves an 8 out of 10, but poor optimization and poor driving mechanics are impossible to overlook.

First of all let me say that I cannnot for the life of me understand why people are flaming this game so much. Maybe the expectations were too high, or people are just expecting something that is not really their genre, but I honestly don't understand it.

I also have no performance issues whatsoever, and I am playing on a QuadCore Q9400 @ 2.66 GHz, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 650 1 GB.

I also have no performance issues whatsoever, and I am playing on a QuadCore Q9400 @ 2.66 GHz, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 650 1 GB. Sure, not at the highest resolution and on medium to low settings, but that still makes the game look better than GTA IV. Frame rate is consistent and ultimately that is all that matters. I guess I'm also from a generation that played games before terms like "anti aliasing", "shaders" and "HD" were even terms used, so my expectation might be different. Each and every single GTA game was a benchmark for its time, and I'm sure GTA V will be doing the same upon release for the PC. So why should Watch_Dogs be different?

As far as the game is concerned, I find it absoutely addictive, similar to the GTA games. To me it feels like a combination out of GTA, Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed and Max Payne. You can argue about the cliches, but that is part of most computer games. I find it ridiculous that most reviews appear to be based on day one performance of a game. When has there ever been a game that was bug free on day one? How many games have required patching in the past and are now absolute classics with an excellent replay value?

I expected a GTA style game from Watch_Dogs, with some added, different features and for once not a mob, or gang background. A game that is fun and lets you play the way you like, when you like, and that is precisely what I got. If they had made the "hacking" any more complicated, the game would not have been accessible to the "normal user", to someone who doesn't necessarily need an understanding of how networks, computers and mobile devices work together. It all works well, and I have probably a good 25 to 30 hours under my belt so far, without even so much as having completed ACT 1, let alone the DLC content that's available. If a game is that much fun, that I can spend hours playing it without actually doing any of the campaign missions, that means it's entertaining and a good game to me.

I find the missions fun, the combat satisfying and interesting, the city feels alive and even the driving makes for a fun diversion. Sure, there could have been a bit more damage to the cars and I would have liked an option to repair and/or customize cars, but then maybe that would be overkill. I'm glad Ubisoft combined elements from their other games and to me personally it's definitely a nice addition to my game collection.

I think people need to stop being so ridiculously whiny about releases, and the developer can't be blamed for not meeting people's expectations. I watched the demo videos of Watch_Dogs months ago and knew then I would love this game. So far there was nothing shown in the early gameplay videos, that the game does not allow you to do. Watch_Dogs delivers what it said it would, no more, but definitely not less. If you don't like the game, that's one thing, but it does not deserve the 0-5 score marks it has been getting. Definitely not.

Graphically, the game is stunning. Admittedly, my PC can only assure good framerates on medium to high settings, but I did pump them to ultra to check them out and it really is pretty breathtaking visually. My only complaint was the reflections in windows, but it wasn't what I'd consider immersion-breaking. One of those things you notice initially but it doesn't really bother you. I've heard stories that you need a little bit of tweaking to fix the framerate problems on certain high-end devices but it's nonetheless possible to achieve.

The gameplay is quite enjoyable. I hear complaints about driving compared to the GTA games, but the driving is very similar to GTA V in my experience, with the added perk that I've yet to see a car in Watch Dogs fly 40 feet into the air during a collision. Other complaints I heard were around the simplicity involved in hacking, but I find that preferable given that your focus with the hacking mechanic is the ends, not the means. I don't really care for the standard hacking minigames/quick time events to get what I want done. I'd rather just, you know. Make that power box explode at the right time. That seems to have been the intent behind the mechanics and it works well in that capacity. Hanging out across the street from a compound while all the machinery inside is going haywire like there's a deranged poltergeist makes for really fulfilling gameplay.

The world and NPCs seem great to me. Admittedly, Chicago is smaller than the expanses of some other games, but feels significantly more alive. Thanks to the profiling mechanic, each person has detail about them, conversations you can listen in on, to an extent, back story. If there's an accident or gun fire, people react very naturally, and it creates a strong sense of realism. As inconvenient as it was, it was great slamming into a car to see someone call the police. And further to see the police doing a realistically good job of tracking me down.

I considered dropping the score because of the UPlay shenanigans around launch, but there's been enough online launches to understand that it's probably an inevitability for an online launch (although this was still one of the smoother online launches in recent history). Also, that 3 days of inconvenience around such a system have no impact on the game itself after that period of time, and reviewing otherwise is akin to giving a store a negative review because you couldn't find what you wanted on Black Friday.

Bought based on recommendations from friends who bought it, would buy again.

The game is good but not perfect. There are no many games on PC like this one. GTA V were never released on PC so we should have not compare them two. We should rather compare it vs. the first trailers we saw 2 years ago. So what I noticed only as an disappointed is the Graphic - a little bit worse than presented. All the rest is the same. So, I feel pretty darn good about this games length.

I continue to have a blast just wondering around hacking people for money, listening to their phone calls, reading their texts, peeping into their homes and apartments. lol.

I see a lot of complaints about the driving, but I think that's just because it "feels" different than GTA or Saints Row, so you kind of have to re-learn how to play. I guess people hate that. Learning.

But I love the WAY it works, hacking streetlights so it takes out an armored convoy that didn't even know I was there. Or slamming on the brakes and firing a barricade so my chasers fly by me and slam into it. Raising a bridge with juuuust the right timing so that I can jump over but they cannot follow. Time it just right and you get an awesome slow down so you can admire your hacking (timing) skills.

It's fast, its dynamic, you always have options over the GTA/Saints Row staple of "drive fast" and I love it.

Tried some of the Multiplayer, it's interesting, kinda like AC but you are trying to stay in range without getting spotted, or trying to spot who is after you. The matchmaking system is kind of a bummer, because you are locked out of a lot of activities while you are queued in the MP system but its another thing to do in the world and it (and all the other activities) is better than ALL of those "things" to do in GTA.

The game continues to run great for me, no lag, no stutter, no crashes, no memory leaks, no bugs aside from a tiny bit of open world funk here and there, I haven't had to get new drivers or anything, just install and play.

Really hoping the buzz on this game turns around a bit.

Yes it sounds like AMD users are having more trouble. Yes it sounds like there is some weird FPS issue with PCs that should completely overpower this game's engine. Yes Uplay was down for a while today a couple of times causing some trouble for some people to download the game.

But that's no reason for people to give 1 or 2 star reviews. Or even to not recommend it to others.

That said Watch_Dogs might not appeal to every single GTA/Saints Row/AC fan out there... but I liked those games a lot... and I can't wait to have some free time tomorrow to play more.

    + a lot of cars ( a lot of "budget" cars! )

+ amazing multi-player free roam (but they should at least add poker there)

    - cannot modify weapons (scope, magazine, silencer, laser etc )
    - cannot do some simple stupid things like sit on bench this could be event greater durning hacking other player (like in assasin's creed but without stupid gray colors...)
    - only one item at normal shops -> for eg you can only buy beer ( alcohol should negatively influence the "focus" not add it...) beer should take one point of focus for some time, vodka should take 5 )
    - has typical sandbox errors (big car spawned blended with fence and disappeared (when i did enter)

For those which want "radio" from gta 5 you have application for music where you can remove all songs from list and add only those which you want (it is organized in music types so you can add all pop or soul whatever you want)

Its a fun, beautiful open world with a lot of interactable environment. Very few things are as satisfying as stopping a chase in its tracks by hacking the traffic lights or the bridges at just the right time (though this does become a bit repetitive. The story is entertaining enough, not uber special but not bad.

    The bad:

The hacking could be a little more varied from person to person. IE: some NPCS have the option to be hacked, but unfortunately it means click Q and you'll get a reward. I would have preferred more advanced options, perhaps a minigame that will net you more but risk detection etc.

The big thing other reviewers are getting upset at are the graphics. This is a fair criticism as the game is not what was advertised at E3 and despite the downgrades, the game still runs fairly poorly.

Overall its a fun game for people that enjoy open world, but it is a bumpy ride that won't be worth it for everyone.

Don't listen to the negative reviews. This game, in my opinion, will be nominated for Game of the Year. The amount of content they put into this game blows my mind. If you are still unsure whether you should buy this game or not, I highly recommend a rental. I guarantee you, once you play even just an hour, you will be hooked.

    Things about Watch Dogs:
    - Very nice graphics
    - A good variety of cars
    - Nice guns
    - Interesting plot
    - Chicago
    - The hacking is too easy

Almost everything in the game is very good except the hacking. It's really too easy. The NPC is sometimes a little weird, but often it works fine.

First of all, these **** giving the game an instant 0 because of performance issues are stupid. Yeah, I know, it can ruin your experience of the game, but does it eliminate all its merits? I have the privilege to run this game with an i7 4770K and a GTX 780, so I know I probably lack some perspective, but it still doesn't make sense.

Anyway, Watch Dogs is a solid game. Solid hacking,

Anyway, Watch Dogs is a solid game. Solid hacking, gunplay, plot, setting, and graphics. While, like many others, I'm disappointed with the downgrade in graphics from the E3 2012 trailer, it still looks good, especially at night. Only thing I'm scared about is Ubi downgrading The Division, which would be blasphemy. The 'press button to hack' feature works pretty well, and I had some cool moments taking down traffic with them. It's not really as exciting as you'd think hacking would be, but it's alright.

Guns are good, with a wide, meaty selection, but apart from some scripted 'waves of enemies' moments, I pretty much beat the game with headshots from a pistol. If you can beat the game with an M1911 you get a quarter into the game, it's a bit broken. Stealth works well though, except why even use take downs if they attract every damn enemy when you use them on just one guy...

Environment-wise, Chicago feels like a gritty urban city with a wide variety of socio-economic classes. Pawnee...ehh, does every open world GTA-like game have to have a rural area a la San Andreas, who did it first? The story missions used Chicago well. Apart from that, I felt no need to explore the city; it was just darting from story mission to story mission. I didn't touch the vigilante missions (except for the introductory one) and unless I run out of games to play, I probably never will.

Finally, characters and story. The game is presented as ~ultra-hacking thriller~ but it barely has sense of humour. When it does, it comes from the stereotypical characters, which don't get me wrong, I liked, but it was a bit too predictable. Jordi Chin, the wise-cracking Asian-American; Clara Lille, the 'punk/underground' chick; T-Bone, the trailer trash. Now they did have unique features, particularly Clara and T-Bone, but surprisingly, my favourite character was Jordi.

Aiden Pearce himself? Bastard needs to smile. I mean, I get the game is meant to be hard-hitting and ponderous, but his stoicism just made him dull most of the time. He's a badass, sure, but I don't careeeeeeeeeeee about his damn nieeeeeeeeeeceeeeeeeeeee...why should I? I heard her talk for like 10 seconds. Why is her death so affecting? Take the time to make us care Ubisoft. Also Damien is **** annoying and not in an interesting way.

Yeah...game was solid, but not fantastic. Ubisoft needs to stop rushing/confusing endings as well, as yet again, Watch Dogs' is. I'd give it like, 6.8/10.

Ubisoft's flagship title has a really, really repulsive protagonist. The entire storyline feels like it was cranked out of a automated story generator. On the positive side, Watch Dogs looks really good on PC, especially after modding the graphics to match the visual splendor of the early E3 demos. [Aug 2014]

There are some strong gameplay elements in Watch Dogs, but overall it's merely an adequate open world game. [July 2014, p.46]

Nothing could have realistically lived up to the immense level of hype that Ubisoft stirred up for this game, and while I value strong narratives and envelope-pushing technological advancements, I place just as much importance in the ability to enjoy the gameplay that's being offered to me. Watch Dogs is one of the more exciting sandbox games of the last few years, and if this is to become Ubisoft's next big franchise, I'm excited to see where they take it.
