It still has some shortcomings like the ease to ditch over the containers accidentally. You can't save the progress which isn't that of an issue in case of such a small area. There isn't any progress indicator but only the clock-out terminal which tells you to go back to work more; okay, but how much? There are games that are tremendous fun for me even in alpha (Minecraft, Take on Mars), and luckily, this was one of them. I'd suggest buying the original Viscera Cleanup Detail and you get these two on Steam for bonus; well worth it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fun extra DLC for Viscera Cleanup Detail.

Viscera Cleanup Detail is all about cleaning stuff. Nothing more. You take your little mop and broom and get to work. This standalone DLC, Santa’s Rampage is normally included into the base game if you bought the complete edition.

Santa’s Rampage is so much fun. It is, as can be expected, completely Christmas themed and consist of a living/working room, an upstairs floor, and a reindeer basement. Every single elf has been murdered and is waiting for you to clean them up. The letters from children you find, as well as the overdue bills are fun to read and gives you an idea why Santa would go apesh!t. You can even find the nose of Rudolf the Reindeer and Santa’s double-barrelled shotgun. The fireplace acts as your incinerator. This is the only map where you can get a stick of dynamite from the water bucket slosh automatic, destroying your progress in the blink of an eye.

The game is intended to make you angry and make your life miserable with the chances of getting limbs and more gore instead of a bucket of water or a disposal bin, the chance of creating fires on the wall while welding bullet holes and of course, knocking over your blood-soaked bucket at the slightest touch. This is part of its charm. I am sure this game has a secret algorithm build into it that whenever you kick over a bucket, something nasty is coming out of one of the dispensers afterwards, just to remind you: “You screwed up and here is your punishment”.

The graphics in this game are fair, they are bright and colorful. The music from the boombox is good and works nice on the background while you are working your ass off. Except for the “Polka” soundtrack, that one is god awfully horrible.

The controls and physics in this game work quite well. Sometimes the game glitches like crazy because of two objects interfering to much but overall, it feels responsive and does what you want.

The game is easily played solo but is, like many other games a lot more fun when playing together. Especially because you can see the other players wobbling back and forth. The walk cycle of the janitor character models is hilarious.

I had a lot of fun with Santa’s Rampage and played it multiple times over.

    Definitely recommend this game!

You pick up body parts, presents, stones, and other items and incinerate them as well as use your mop to clean up blood spatter. Get the area completely clean to finish the game! It's simple and fun for a while but can get boring if you play too much at once. I picked it up for $1 and got 4 hours of playtime out of it so it was worth it to me. Expand

Tried multiplayer with a buddy (using VoIP) it makes it a bit more fun to play around, but not for a long time. It just gets boring fast and annoying with all the glitches.

On the other hand it costs way below 5 euros (something like 2?) on Steam right now, so, yeah, I could say that it's worth for a evening or two entertainment, not more.
