Infected by a zombie bite, Anling's days are numbered. She must now fight to survive, not for herself but her young son, Cody. Ensure Cody's survival in a zombie infested world by protecting him and teaching him valuable skills, at any cost.

In this emotional survival game take control of Anling whose goal is to make sure her son Cody is safe and can live on after she turns. Limited resources must be managed in order to slow down Anling's infection while also making sure both Anling and Cody do not starve from hunger or thirst.

Anling must also teach her son essential survival skills such as cooking, crafting and combat before hers begin to fade. She might find that in certain situations she will start depending on him.

A perfect balance of managing your days looking for resources and increasing Cody's skill set will be needed in order to survive the long journey

Undying offers one of the most authentic survival games I've played, with fantastic gameplay and a story that sticks with you for a long time.

The game surprises with simple graphics, which are even drawn in a cartoon style, which is very pleasing to the eye. The music that we can listen to in the background, either during the title screen of the game or during the gameplay itself, is also very good.

Undying is an emotional survival game that tugs at your heartstrings while you play. You must take care of your young son while you make your way through the zombie apocalypse. It’s not the easiest survival game and your efforts will require multiple tries. But if you are willing to learn, the game offers a post-apocalypse narrative that is rarely touched upon.

Would I recommend UNDYING? You know what, I would. I've got to hand it to developers Vanimals; they have a strange studio name. More than simply being a good game, UNDYING has a decent amount of replay value due to multiple endings, random events, and the time limit, meaning it'll be impossible to see everything. I'll go back to it, which is rare.

The narrative in Undying is touching and I really wanted to see it through to the end but the main issue here is a tonal mismatch between the emotional narrative and the traditional grind of a survival/crafting game. If you prepare yourself for slow incremental progress then there is a solid survival sim here, just not quite what I was hoping for given the fascinating setup.

With the lack of originality or innovation both in gameplay and storytelling, in a year packed with great indies such as Dredge and Cocoon, I’m afraid Undying leaves the table empty-handed.

A good zombie game with a lot of decisions and a kid that should learn to survive.
