Delightfully old school and satisfyingly violent, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil can finally meet its true potential thanks to Night Dive Studios. Framerate chop and cloying fog have been replaced with tight action and a host of modern conveniences that will make you yearn for the good old days of first person shooters.

Long, hard and varied, Turok 2's campaign is a relic of the past that works better than many modernities of the present. The design can be obtuse sometimes, and the graphics could do with a texture improvement, but still is a classic that now finds a better way to be played.

Were it not for the successful conversion of the multiplayer mode for this port, I would have rated this game lower. Even without an active player base, though, the prospect of getting friends involved for a night of classic fragging is really tantalizing. Hopefully more people get this in the future, because letting these crazy weapons go to waste is a damn shame.

Delightful remaster of an old classic N64 game!

Growing up I had Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Turok 2: Seed of Evil, and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion on Nintendo 64 and I use to play them ALL THE TIME! While I barely played the multiplayer aspect of 2 and 3, I thoroughly enjoyed the game play and story connections behind 2 and 3. Along with some PlayStation classics like Dino Crisis 1 and 2, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil, this was one of my favorite style of FPS Survival games.

Although its not like not as graphically inclined like our modern day FPS games like Destiny 2, Warframe, and other games, If you can accept its classic graphic style, this game is loads of fun with its close quarters combat, sci-fi and primitive weapons, and the story connection between the 3 games.

I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested! I personally can't wait for Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion to get its remaster by Night Dive Studios!

It has greatThis is going to sound weird because I am going to praise Turok 2 for many things and then say how I didn’t like it overall. It has great combat; a great selection of weapons; good sound effects and graphics for it’s time; has a great story and is a fantastic port. The level design though has to be some of the worst I have ever had to play through. It is bad enough that I stopped playing the game because I found it like a frustrating maze even though it has a map system and large exclamation points showing where you need to go. While it shows where you need to go getting there is a series of guesses and trial and error while the map system is useless because it highlights nothing. I swear it was designed this way on purpose just to sell strategy guides. This is not something Nightdive could fix, it just is part of the game. The sad thing is that as far as single player games go this is easily the best Turok game I have played from a game play standpoint. It was much improved over the original and better than the sequels but I got tired of trying to figure out where it wanted me to go.

I played Turok 2 on Linux. It never crashed on me. There were a plethora of graphics options including 2 AA settings; 5 AF settings; an FOV slider that went from 45-120; a resolution scaler that goes from 10-125 %; and 15 other graphics options to tweak. You can manually save whenever you want and there are 16 save slots. You can’t change the difficulty after starting a game. There is a 60 FPS cap. Alt-Tab didn’t work. Performance was great but given the age of the graphics this was to be expected.

    Graphics API: OpenGL
    Disk Space Used: 684 MB
    Save System: Manual (any time)

Graphics Settings Used: 16x AF; SMAA; SSAO; all options aside from motion blur on; 1080P at 125% scale
    GPU Usage: 0-96 %
    VRAM Usage: 681-737 MB
    CPU Usage: 10-12 %
    RAM Usage: 2.6-2.7 GB
    Frame Rate: 56-60 FPS

I commend Nightdive Studios for their work on updating graphics settings and making the Linux port but I had forgotten how terrible the level design was and it sapped any enjoyment I had. I got this game free from a friend but I can’t recommend it at any price. I played for 6 hours before tapping out.

    My Score: 5/10

I like old first person shooters.
    But this one feels weird.

Shooter mechanics, graphics, visual design is pretty cool for late 90's game.

Game and level design is a problem. It doesn't work in 2022.
All levels is labyrinths and you will become confused eventually.
If you missed one quest room, you will be teleported to first checkpoint at the end of level.
Sometimes, if you collecting keys or pulling levers with incorrect sequence game can be glitched and wouldn't open the door, so you need to load old save file (it can be VERY old save file) and lost hours of your game

It was great seeing the game that defined my childhood come to HD life.

However, the game is horribly designed. It's pretty much impossible to find all the keys for the final level without a video guide, and to me that's not very fun.

Also, the story is pretty stupid.

Gameplay is fun and the weapons are cool, but please don't make the same mistake as I have by not picking the hardest difficulty. You can't lower the difficulty later on so you'll need to do a lot of save scumming.

Overall, the game is OK but not worth the full price.
