Before that I have never played "flat games" on PC, but I was bribed by the colorful and rich environment, the classic group of three fantasy game heroes, and the rating with a reviews. As a result, this game became for me a kind of revolution in the World of Games. Trine is an excellent game, which is very interesting to play even in 2019.
One but: it seems to me that it is very inconvenient to play the game-pad for the mage, with the mouse it is incomparably faster and more convenient to control the "sight" by drawing magic cubes / platforms.

I’ll only add about what has changed: I like that they removed the mana/energy bar, although it’s a little dishonest. And I really DO NOT like that the inventory that allowed you to customize the characters was removed too. Artifacts for this genre of games should be a great plus.

    - o multiplayer é divertidissimo e funciona bem demais
    - o visual é inacreditavel. pensando seriamente em ligar o jogo numa das tvs da casa pra jogar em versão gigante ou mesmo pra só deixar parado e usar o jogo de quadro

In Trine 2, you get to play with a warrior, archer and wizard with the ability to instantly switch among those classes. Warrior’s main use is to kill enemies, archer can swing from platforms that are otherwise very hard to reach , whereas the wizard conjures boxes and manipulates objects. The secondary goal (other than beating the mission) is to collect experience orbs which you can later use to distribute skill points to your characters.

The main selling point of Trine 2 is its astonishing graphics. The game is so good looking that you can basically take a random screenshot and use as wallpaper. Combined with the relaxing soundtrack and rather slow -think before you act- gameplay Trine 2 really calms you down every time you play it. Also, to get the most enjoyment out of it, you should play it coop online. Most missions show that the game was designed with coop play in mind.

However, the game is not without drawbacks. Action is very shallow and you can kill most enemies by basic swings of sword. Also, the game is way too easy. I have played it in hard mode, yet did not come across any puzzles that took anytime to figure it out. With the added element of instant resurrection when you die and the ability of overcoming most puzzles with the alternative method of making box towers, the game offers almost zero challenge. Other problems include bad storytelling (I have read everything and don’t really remember anything about the story) and some disconnection issues when playing online coop.

Finally, it was a bit of a surprise that despite being a side scroller puzzle platformer, Trine 2 is played best when played with a mouse + keyboard rather than a controller since aiming with the bow and creating boxes with the cursor are elements very often used during gameplay.

To sum up, Trine 2 is enjoyable while it lasts and beautiful to look at. But dull action mechanics and extremely easy gameplay might frustrate more experienced gamers.

PS: Play it coop, hard difficulty and with a keyboard. Goblin Menace DLC is slightly better than the main campaign (with a final boss which became my favorite Trine 2 mission), but the Dwarven Caverns DLC lacks in comparison.

After greatly enjoying the first game, I had high expectations for this sequel. Unfortunately, as elegant as the environment this second gameAfter greatly enjoying the first game, I had high expectations for this sequel. Unfortunately, as elegant as the environment this second game was, I had to knock its score down by a bit for balancing issues and for not having a particularly meaningful story.

In the main story, the maps are easy to traverse, and if you upgrade the Wizard's Box Conjuring ability to even the first or second level, you're pretty much set for most of the game since it's possible to reach difficult parts of the map with ease. The skills really only start to matter near the end of the main story, which is really poor planning on the dev's part. The puzzles aren't hard at all and the monsters aren't that strong. The checkpoints are overly generous and you're never punished for dying.

As for the epilogue story that comes after the main game, the devs realized that they had made the main story too easy, so they decided to make the epilogue hard instead. Not hard in the sense that the puzzles require some thinking, but hard in the sense that they are frustrating to deal with because they require guesswork, timing, and reflexes, and it's really easy to die if you don't get it perfect. I can't imagine being able to play through the epilogue on a controller.

The extra map after the Goblin Menace called the Dwarven Caverns was a nice experience as well, although the game didn't give any indication regarding how to unlock it, and I had no choice but to look it up. To save you some time, you need to find the two chests in each Goblin Menace map to unlock it. Otherwise, you'll need to play the map over again just to do so.

The main story isn't particularly long, but with the epilogue, it's sufficient. I liked the epilogue because it was harder and less predictable, but the story was a bit random. I think I got my money's worth out of the game since I bought it on sale, but I can't say that I enjoyed this as much as I did the first game. It wasn't bad, though.
