The story might start typical - post-apocalyptic world (though we do not know what has happened in the beginning) in a fantasy setting. As you play along you discover the bits and pieces of the past told via animated videos and various pieces of history contained in the books and notes scattered around. There are a lot of surprising twists and the story changes over time into something that I think no one would expect. I usually got bored very quickly with recent RPGs, here, I remained hooked until the end.

Combat is a very fresh. The best comparison would be to Dragon Age Origins I think. It is played in real-time with slow motion or pause and has a surprising tactical depth. Your skills and equipment are equally important here to how you play your champions - where you position them and how you move them around. I started on normal difficulty and it was fine so I decided to change to hard - which was brutal. There is one other setting in the game called Epic - but it was too difficult for me.

Having said that, this game is not for everyone - it is smart and requires some thinking about your choices and party builds. If you want to try something refreshing for a change, grab it - and you will be as surprised at the value it offers, as I was.

Polish and completeness of a AAA game from a new indie company at an indie price
    The developers care
Despite being relatively linear, playthroughs can be very different
Has a set of optional challenge scenarios that can push a player beyond the scope of the normal play through
East to learn, hard to master

    Cons-
Not overly difficult on normal or easier settings
Some trope “gamey” concepts, but then again you can’t change everything on your first try
The RPG is more like reading a novel and this might not be what some people wanted; even if it was a nice change

This is a really good game! The game is swimming with an atmosphere that I have not experienced since the first Diablo. For 25$ this game is an absolute steal.
Story: 8/10. The dialog is a bit layed back and more casual, which may put some people off but I personally find it refreshing. There are some grammar errors, but it's not too bad.

Combat: 9/10. Combat is fun, a good execution of slow-time/pause strategy. More skills would have been nice, I am not sure why they limited 4 skills at a time, this seems like a mistake to me.
Itemization: 8/10 solid item system, pretty well thought through.
Graphics: 7/10. The graphics do seem a bit dated, but the art design is fantastic so this isn't too much of an issue.
Music: 10+/10: the music composure is best in class. Really fantastic stuff here.

    nitpicks:
    - skill progression could use more options
    - limiting 4 active skills seems unnecessary
    - start of game is a bit too slow as you build party members and abilities
    - only allowing enchants on purple items seems odd, as basically you can't wear anything else later on

Minor issues overall, this is a solid game for anyone who likes tactical RPGs.

One of the best surprises of these past years.

This game obviously needs to be better known. Pros: - Deep intriguing story - Very long (80 hours in Epic, easily, and I am speaking only about the main story) - Music, ambiance, characters (everything fits the story very well) - Interesting system (point&click alterning with tactical combat in slow motion) - Deep customization

Good CRPG, will grant you 60-70 hours of game play.

Played it in hard difficulty ( just below the final "epic" difficulty) and the game is more focused about seeking the weaknesses of your opponents and properly building your team, rather than outsmarting the IA. You may think that it will be strategical at the beginning but honestly no, improve your gear/heroes, make you tank tank,

I can understand people who say it's repetitive, but if you like adventure, exploring areas and resolve average-difficult enigmas while improving your characters, you will stay until the end of the game/story.

Also, You may like the fact of managing several characters and using the most appropriate ones for the specific encounters.

Graphics are ok, it's not super awesome it's not an AAA company but still it's pretty decent !

Summary : Tactical RPG lovers, give it a try, it won't be the most awesome game you play but will remain a reference in your mind i'm almost sure of that.

Sublime experience with great polish – it was perhaps the best 50 hours of gaming I experienced in a long time.

I play RPGs for many years now. In most of the recent ones, the world is usually cluttered with things like useless NPC's and items that had no significance – here it was all cut out, leaving only pure game-play fun. Combat is something fresh - it takes place as encounters

Combat is something fresh - it takes place as encounters and you're face with the waves of enemies listed at the start of the encounter, you have a choice to fight or withdraw.
Level design is great - everything seems so pretty and immersive.

Despite only seven classes – they do differ and offer something unique. This game is less about individual character builds but rather how to combine selected champions into a party that supports each other and with skills that offer great synergy.

Story is actually quite engaging once you delve deeper. I usually get bored quickly mid game once the flair of the new fades away – here it got me hooked until the end since it twists and changes in unexpected ways. The ending made me very sad though :(

I especially like combat challenges – I don’t think I have seen a better method ever implemented. Each is designed separately and is almost like a puzzle to solve.

Two problems with the game I have are the following:

There is no character creation. I am one of those persons that like to spend hours designing characters and their looks. But as soon as I played the game for one hour I really didn’t miss it, since your heroes are fun and diverse.

Second – overall it was smooth performance apart from some areas where I had to lower the graphic settings to low (which was a shame since lightning and shadows are done expertly here). However, I have a pretty old gaming rig so I guess I am happy that it was only few places like that.

All in all – highly recommended. I am very surprised that it doesn’t get more attention and it definitely deserves that.

Its nice game. Good RPG with superb figth system with slowing ( or stop) time, so u can have time think about next step. When lose, can repeat fight, in city map can visit shop where u craft things, upgrade them or disolve to diamonds ( need for crafting). Heroes have abilities which can be developed too. !! Tower of Time takes a compelling narrative and blends it with fun role-playing and deep satisfying tactical combat. Event Horizon, the studio behind Tower of Time, has the pulse of their players. They have been patching and balancing continually, taking feedback, and explaining balance adjustments. It’s refreshing to see an earnest desire by an indie studio to improve and polish a game post-launch. This has been one of the most enjoyable indie RPG experiences for me so far this year. This is a game I’d at least like to see on a list of contenders for “Indie RPG of the Year”.

With a wonderfully complex combat system Tower of Time manages to clutch your attention and never lets go. Increasingly complex and varied, this is a wonderful little (but also quite massive) title that is worthy of your attention.

Both in terms of storytelling, as well as gameplay, Tower of Time sits right there in the middle of the quality scale. A handful of interesting ideas do exist, and, as a whole, this isn't bad or broken, but, from the first to the fortieth hour, nothing in this dungeon crawling RPG will turn out to be exciting, either.
