I have really enjoyed fighting my way through the Tower, uncovering each twist and turn of the story along the way. The two distinct phases work very well, and exploring is its own reward, granting new items to the team. Combat, bar one little grumble, is superb and all in all I can easily recommend Tower of Time to anyone looking for an RPG with a little twist.

This all being said, Tower of Time is dark, rewarding and interesting. It relies on some dark fantasy cliches but offers enough originality to stand out in an over-saturated market. If you like old school CRPGs, this is absolutely worth your time.

In terms of storytelling and mechanics this is a great oldschool RPG, but unfortunately the port is quite sloppy and lackluster.

I want to give Tower of Time a thumbs-up as I enjoyed the gear and leveling systems and the story has a strong impact. Unfortunately, it's not well-optimised for console and suffers from too many fundamental problems so pick it up for PC if you're feeling adventurous.

Tower of Time is a collection of a poor ideas mixed with a few positive moments. The combat system is really interesting, but it is definitely not enough to keep the player engaged.

You play as a young King, returning to the Tower of Time after having visited it as a child in hopes of harnessing its powers. That is where you start your game, as the child King wandering the tower the first time. After that, you take control of a pair of Heroes and embark on a quest to unravel the mysteries of the tower. Combat is the main focus of the game, and it's genius. You command your party in a real-time situation, with the ability to slow time to a crawl, allowing you to make decisions and analyze a given situation. This gives you incredible control over up to four heroes at the same time without being too overwhelming. Throughout your journey you will gather a total of seven party members, of which four can be used at a time. Each character has their own abilities, and fall into a classic RPG class role lime tank, caster, or healer. As you progress through the story, your party members will have opportunity to discuss what's going on, each with their own personality and opinions on everything going on. The tower has ten levels, and then a final encounter at the very bottom. RPG and RTS fans should both have a blast with this fantastic system. Both worlds combined make for a fantastic game that should find its way to your library. Expand

Reminded me of Dungeons of Naheulbeuk except the story doesn't play for laughs. The setting is actually quite bleak and dire.

The combat system is interesting. It's like Baldur's Gate crossed with a tower defense game. It emphasizes party positioning and killing enemies quickly. The game isn't the best looking. It's not fancy, but it does what it intends to, and does it well. A great time for old-school RPG enthusiasts.

I encountered a wide variety of bugs. One made it impossible to finish a quest. Another forced me to reload an older save to progress. Feels like the game is still in beta.

There's a terrible section in level 7 where they take away your best characters that you've been leveling, and force you play with the leftovers. I loathe when RPGs force you to play without your main party.
