    Touhou 17 is the latest main release in the official Touhou series, and is a bullet hell shooter. The main gimmick this time is a system ofTouhou 17 is the latest main release in the official Touhou series, and is a bullet hell shooter. The main gimmick this time is a system of power ups that trigger a period of invulnerability and power you up if you get at least 3/5 matching between 3 alternating animal types. You also pick an affinity to one of these types that will exaggerate your bonus in that type if you get 3+/5 when you activate the power up. There are 3 playable characters. The game has great music and a certain unique look and feeling to it that is often imitated but never perfected in the way it is with the official games. An english translation is available through the touhou community reliant automatic patcher, the version from steam is Japanese only. Overall, I would recommend Hidden Star in Four Seasons over this game if you are looking to try out the series just because that game has more straightforward gameplay. As far as the gimmick in this game goes, it is not complicated, but it dominates the gameplay a lot and probably has less overall longevity and balance than you could find in the previous game. If you have played Touhou games before and are a fan already, this is a must buy.… Expand
