    There are only very few games that I can give 10 points. If a game gets 10, it is never 100% perfect but almost. What I lacked in this game was that Lara should have done more attractive and sexy. I rarely play a game more than 1 time but there are a few games I've played through more than one time and this is one of them. I will sleep well tonight

    Ok, first off, if you liked Far Cry 3, then you need to get this game. It is like Far Cry 3 X 1000. No you don't get the freedom, and so far (About 30 mins in) I haven't driven any cars, but the Graphics are BEAUTIFUL, Frigging amazing.     A+ 100% in Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, Voice Acting Fun Factor. Great Atmosphere and detail that will draw you in. A new favorite in my PC game library along with Farcry 3, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Black Ops 2 and Borderlands 2. Works your system, had to drop settings down to "Ultra" from "Ultimate". (According to their built in benchmark) (GTX-580, i7, 12GB RAM)

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have to register an account to give this game 10/10 for the first time. The graphic, sound, environment, story, and every elements in this game are all well done. For the second time, I feel like I am not playing a video game anymore, I am actually watching a top rated Hollywood action movie The first one was Darksiders 2). I like Roth. He is calm, wise, and brave. The last thing he did for Lara was sad but also beautiful. I like Jonah as well. The tombs puzzles are well done and constructed even though the reward is kinda lame). The story is beyond good. I love watching Lara Croft grows from a weak young lady in the beginning to a strong soul Lara Croft just like in the previous series. The game has few disappointments for me: some QTEs don't show hotkeys and the game doesn't have real boss fight. But, it's too minor compared to how beautiful the game is. Lastly, I want to say "Thank you" to Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics for making such a GREAT game. This game is, without a doubt, one of the best game in 2013.… Expand

    This game is wonderful its like uncharted meets lost with the good old fashioned tomb raider spirit and exploration and solid platforming, also runs fantastic maxed out on my 4yr oldpc and has some of the best environments in modern gaming.

    I’ll quickly make the obligatory comparison to the Uncharted series right now. Yes, it does feel a bit like uncharted, but that’s not a bad thing. Uncharted is a great series that has pioneered many adventure standards. Tomb Raider simply barrows the best parts of it, adds it’s own spice, while keeping in mind that Uncharted was inspired from Tomb Raider.     The game controls excellent, even more responsive than the Uncharted series, some thing Crystal Dynamics seem to nail in all their games. The puzzles are good, doesn’t stump you, but keeps you thinking, and the combat very enjoyable and feels well refined. One of my favorite parts of the game, as superficial as it might be, is the graphics. It’s one of the best looking games I own on my PC, and probably one of the best looking games I’ve seen in quite a while. I won’t comment on the story yet, as I haven’t finished the game, but I can say the common complains that the action aspect of the game play mismatches with Lara’s innocents lost story is exaggerated, and most of the complaint’s references are taken out of context. If you play the game, it does it’s best to explain why Lara is all of a sudden master assassin, even if it’s just through a quick statement or two.

    Overall the game is very enjoyable, very polished, and just beautiful to view.    … Expand

This is a vital problem in todays gaming industry, and I was afraid of it afflicting this game with its disease as well. Thankfully, that was not the case. In fact, I think this might be one of the first truly believable characters ever created, and she is not stereotypically female (nor is she stereotypically male, as certain ass-kicking heroines tend to be).
    Her character development does seem kind of rushed outside of cut-scenes due to the high numbers of enemies she encounters early on, but this is such a minor problem that as soon as you get to grips with the genre they have chosen to portray her in you will see it as nothing but a minor inconvenience.

    The biggest flaws with this game are the enemy AI. They will often take time to start firing, and there is quite often you see a body part sticking out from behind their cover, making them way too easy too snipe off. Due to Lara's low health and the games plentiful enemies, this does not alter the difficulty too much, but it does cut away from the immersion. Furthermore, there are some few things that will be bothersome from time to time; for example, the fact that you can't roll through holes in the wall (you will in fact bounce back from an invisible wall).

    The story is well thought out and is interesting throughout the game. The relics and journals are all building immersion, and keeps you playing this otherwise fairly short game for a lot longer than it would have if it would have been, for example, artwork (as is the case in a lot of other game in this and similar genres). I would not say there are an abundance of clever plot twists (mosts are in fact quite obvious from the beginning), but nevertheless I could not see that it would have made the game any better.
    The platforming and puzzle-solving, while still easier than average, gives a sense of satisfaction. You won't be stuck for half an hour figuring out how to open the door to the temple (which will then require you to cross the world to obtain the necessary item), but instead you will probably solve it in a few minutes, using only objects directly available. This is a great way to use these techniques without alienating a major part of their target audience.

    The graphics are amazing. Certain games, like BF3 and Crysis, keeps on getting good graphics review simply from the fact that they add pixels. In Tomb Raider, this is not the case. Well, not only, at least. The softness of the light, the amazing views and the great choice of colours makes Tomb Raider truly stand out. It is hard not to be caught up in this world, where every step you take could be part of a cut scene (and the cut-scenes are even better!).

    Even though it has its flaws, Tomb Raider earns a well deserved 10. The last time I was this much in love with a game was when the original American McGee's Alice was released. And that was almost 13 years ago.
    Tomb Raider is a completely different genre than earlier Tomb Raiders game. They have given up the hardcore platforming and puzzling, and exchanged it for a deep personality and an interesting story. I for one could not be happier.    … Expand

    TressFX hair.
    The island is the star.
    Great pacing to the story and to Lara's development as a character.
    Nice job of making the player feel that they may not succeed at their mission until the last second. Cons:
    Massive performance drop with TressFX hair on (don't use this on anything but a top Intel chip processor and AMD 6970+ or NVIDIA GFX 660ti card, it killed every other set up I used).
    No puzzles (well they exist, but are short and very easy).
    Water could be better and Lara can't swim.
    Freedom of movement around the island comes very late in the story at which point you don't care about exploring any more. PC controls are not as smooth as the controller, again making the PC feel like an afterthought. Many people complain of crashes, but I had a smooth experience. Final Judgment:
    It is worth the $50 only if you like replaying games. It is short and a one time play for people only interested in the story. My first playthrough was about 8 hours and I completed 84% of the collectibles and challenges. Maybe a 6 hour game if you plow through the story.    … Expand

    The last time I played Tomb Raider, it was years ago back in elementary when I had my first playstation. Not to mention the graphics of the game had already caught my attention in the first place and I was excited when I learned that Square Enix was involved. I know for one thing Square Enix never failed me on graphics aspect and turns out, the games was a masterpiece. I expect a sequel to follow on.… Expand

I love how the game expands on the emotional side of the character, who, surprisingly enough, doesn't fall flat on it's face- shame you can't say the same about the other characters, whom have little to nothing memorable.     The Best Tomb Raider i ever played. The game is very enjoyable, graphics, sounds, level design is superb. The Multiplayer is is simple. Controls are very easy. There are plenty of action and the QTE is very addictive.

    If you enjoy playing through an awesome story-line with great characters, beautiful surroundings/graphics, and lots of kick ass action that gets your heart pumping, then this is the game for you. With the option bonus of puzzle tombs and for the collectors plenty to find and explore. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, so far best of 2013. Tons of fun, and hope they make another! Don't miss this one!

    A perfect PC port. Flawless support for Eyefinity (a first from what I can tell). The game play is fun and intuitive. Dying can be just as entertaining as finishing an objective. I feel like I'm playing a movie but not in a rehash of Dragon's Lair sort of way. The camera controls were also very excellent.     This game has expanded in almost every aspect. Everything from the graphics to the gameplay and the storyline are top notch. It feels good to see one of your favorite game franchises do well.

    This game is by far my favorite game of the year, crystal dynamics did a very good job with this game, its very cinematic, very emotional, and very intense, this is a must own game (not including the multiplayer of course).

The story makes you become attached to all the character and i love to see the progression of Lara. Also the story has a huge amout of intense moment.     It's great to see how Lara grow from a rookie to an export in exploring the mysteries. Some may criticise there's too less exploring and too many combat, but I think it's a good combination of puzzle solving and surviving, a balance between story telling and gaming. Although not perfect, the TressFX effect is really great.     I would buy the game just because of the feeling. It grabs you. It won't let you go. The atmosphere is breathtaking. The graphics just amazing (supports tessellation, etc. ...) The story is captivating. The whole game is action-packed from the first minute.

    Le jaillissement hors de l'écran est excellent. On voit les branches ou les morceaux de bois dans les souterrains qui vous percutent l’œil lorsque vous vous déplacez vers eux. Lors des scènes d’action les objets vous arrivent droit dans la figure. Surprenant !

    Les particules de poussières virevoltent devant vous dans l'air. L'eau aussi vous tombe sur la tête.

    Une 3D digne d'un film 3D natif. HonnĂŞtement le jeu n'a vraiment rien voir en 3D. Voir Lara et vivre l'histoire en 3D change le jeu de façon extraordinaire.    … Expand

    What surprises me its the gameplay, one of the best games ive ever played, replayable as hell, fun as hell, honestly ive just played like 20 hours but i am comparing this to ocarina of time, goldeneye, mgs 1... etc.

    The best thing about this game is that it's fun! You always feel compelled to go on, every action feels natural and simple but rewarding.
    Art direction is amazing and the environments and characters look gorgeous.

    Excellent game, non stop action from start to finish and very finely tuned, highly recommended. It follows in the same vein as Uncharted, but with the ability to revisit previous areas to find all the collectibles sort of like Metroid or the Batman: Arkham games.

    The best game that I've played in the last 30 years. Tomb Raider is beautiful, has stunning graphics, amazing sound effects, you will feel immersed in an adventure as if you were experiencing first hand. Beautiful story, plot twists, puzzles and lots of action and spectacle. Do not miss this great game. Who knows when we'll see another at these levels. Supreme!

Right after that, the very first puzzle is essentially an exercise in crawling before walking, and there's the, "Ah-ha!" moment where you learn how to move and that momentum is an actual mechanic that's used throughout the adventure.

    It's my opinion that the most wonderful thing about this title is how incredibly enthralling the narrative is. From the initial sequences, you'll find yourself immediately attached to Lara and the struggles she's forced to endure. That moment when control is first relinquished to the player, there's an urgency to proceed; you want the helpless, stranded protagonist to escape and reunite with her companions. The first enemy encounter already begins subtle character development, and it's clear that the conflict has shaken Lara but that she has no choice but to come to terms with it all.

    The dreary, bone filled cave of the intro is a testament to how well orchestrated all the scenes are; it's outright terrifying just as it's intended to be, but this is only the first of countless gorgeous views. Emerging from there and into the lush woods brings another fantastic vista. Villages amongst mountains, a fortress in the snowy mountains and a beach laden with several wrecked vessels are just a few of the fabulous places to be seen on the island. Best of all, exploring these is a breeze.

    The controls are among the most intuitive I've encountered, and I feel as if Tomb Raider does free running in a league superior to Assassin's Creed. Tools to overcome obstacles come one by one, and a new toy is only laid down after you've had ample time to master the one before it. Any surface that you suspect you can climb, you almost certainly can.

    There's an elaborate level-up and upgrade system in place. Defeating enemies, hunting wild animals and plundering optional tombs all grant piles of experience to use on skills that enhance Lara's prowess. Weapons are improved by finding salvage in the world, and your armaments are visually enhanced for every upgrade you perform such as adding a scope to your assault rifle. The skills will allow you to gain additional perks for skillful kills, loot additional salvage from kills, see collectibles through walls, and even traverse terrain more quickly among several other perks.

    Combat itself is a delight. It's fast, fluid and just plain works! Lara's clever enough to duck behind cover while in a fight and will pop up whenever you try to aim. Enemies may be disabled by shooting at their limbs and can be executed with a keystroke if you've mastered the skill. They'll use similar tools to what you have, including grenades, shotguns and even the wonderful bow and arrow. That said, you can largely avoid combat by taking the stealth route. The bow makes for silent kills, approaching an enemy from behind allows for a quiet execution; and eventually, you may even add silencers certain weapons.

    Ample collectibles are strewn throughout the game; and via a fast-travel system, you're free to revisit previously conquered territory to find these things. There are relics to peer at which help to express the background of the island, documents that are fully voiced over by their writers and so much salvage and weapon parts. "Challenges" exist that involve finding all of a certain item or destroying evil totems among so much more. That goes without mentioning the non-combat puzzle tombs that really make for an excellent hiatus between story arches. Better yet, there's a Metroid-esque feeling to using all your new equipment to reach places that you previously could not.

    There's also a multi-player aspect with a few run of the mill game modes. Deathmatch is here, but there's also a couple of unique experiences. Present too is a progression system not dissimilar to the single player. You can upgrade your skills and weapons much the same way, but it sort of feels like a Call of Duty clone with a rustic coat of paint. There wasn't much here to keep me interested for more than a couple of hours.

    All in all, I absolutely adore this title. The story is engrossing, the stealth and combat mechanics are clean, and I was having a blast just climbing around and exploring. There was a certain relief in Tomb Raider's climax and epilogue, and I only wish that there was more! Crystal Dynamics built a masterpiece whose only flaw is a multi-player experience that's far out shined by its story mode.    … Expand

I've played that game in two or three days, now waiting for the new Nvidia patch to play it again with TressFX. The graphics are amazing. The Story is perfectly told. The Gameplay, which is in my opinion one of the most important parts of a game, is outstandingly good. The combat, the exploration, the search for items and collectables and the skill based passages are top notch. The combat is very intense and responding, the collecting of items and exploration is rewarding and the platforming aswell as the few puzzles loosen the overall progression through the game. All these different contents are not only very well executed but also extremly well paced. Coming to the presentation which is one of the games most notable features. The balance between smooth and relaxing parts such as exploring/collecting and tense parts such as the combat and various environmental destruction, weather and quick time events was overall very well done what makes the game feel very diversified. The plot is well presented and the voice acting (at least in the german version) is pretty good aswell. The plot itself might be a little bit predictable sometimes but the player will forget these flaws very fast because of the astonishing presentation which is never overdone. The different parts of the island are pretty much open but small and limited. In order to visit parts of the island you've already discovered, you can have a rest at various bonfires which will let you teleport to other bonfires. The progression through the game is generally very linear but you are able to go to places you visited before any time you want and for example collect things you've missed. The character development is a major part and is very immersive. Through the course of the game, the main character Lara goes through different changes and the player really feels with the her (at least I did). The other characters stay a little bit shallow and are not nearly as interesting as the protagonist itself. They're more like a help to get Lara's development throughout the happenings of the game apparent and interesting to experience. The atmosphere is very dense and let's the player forget his or her surroundings. While I'm playing this game I really get lost in it and can nearly scent the different smells of the environment. The new Tomb Raider is one of the most immersive games I've ever played and the excellent audio really adds to this. The creak of the old wood in the wind, the ripple of the rain, the crackling of the fire. The soundscape aswell as the beautiful soundtrack is extremely well done and surrounds the player with a living and breathing environment. The visuals really add to this. The technical part, so the engine is pretty nice to look at and the game is very well optimized. What really amazed me is the beautiful art direction. The color palette and the ex- and interiors are wonderfully crafted and especially the exteriors are packed with tons and tons of details that feel very natural and hand made. There are some flaws here and there like the confusing and not easy to use, the quick time events sometimes feel a little bit wasted and the characters, besides Lara Croft, are not very interesting. All these little flaws are not really notable while looking at the game as a whole but they're worth mentioning. All in all this is one of the best games I played in a very long time and the best action adventure I've ever experienced.… Expand

    The graphics are awesome. DirectX 11 runs perfectly, with bloom, FXAA and excellent textures. The tesselation is a litlle heavy and downs 20 fps. Fantastic gameplay, solid plot, and wonderful music. As deep as Uncharted, multiple routes to take through quests. Lara is very cute in this game. I just miss more costumes.

    There are cutscenes and quick-time events, for the most part I didn't find them too intrusive or annoying, it's hard to tell a good story without them.

    One frequently criticised aspect is how quickly she changes into a hardened killer, this didn't bother me at all and neither did it seem jarring.

    Lara is utterly charming and scarily determined. A delightful detail in the game is how she geeks out over artifacts she discovers. These often come at welcome moments to lighten the tone when the atmosphere is otherwise bleak.

    There are several negative comments regarding it being more of a movie than a game. I instantly think of Uncharted and have to disagree. Yes Tomb Raider is cinematic, but it is definitely more of a game than a movie, you set the pace and you can back track to explore.

    I find many of the complaints puerile and hyperbolic:
    - "There's a button to show you what you need to look at if you can't figure it out"
    - "Don't press it if you don't want to"
    - "But people less awesome than me will still be able to play through the game"
    - "Get over yourself"

    - "There aren't enough weapons"
    - "She isn't Duke Nukem, and the weapons she does have can be improved throughout the game"

    - "If I wanted a story I'd watch a movie or read a book"
    - "Some games are story lead and others are 'And the upshot is you have to kill everything that moves', this one falls into the first category, it might not be to your taste but that doesn't make it a bad game."

The gameplay is similiar to the latest TR titles of Crystal Dynamics.

    The controls are direct and precise. And after five classic and three modern titles of TR this reboot was necessary. And it succeeded! Lara is scared, she freezes and killing is not easy for her in the beginning. But that bothers the fluent (combat) gameplay later on. Fights are not that much like in Uncharted where it was sometimes very annoying. Tomb Raider is the perfect mix between exploration, climbing, running and jumping and fighting. She has to learn many things like close combat moves. She finds salvage in order to upgrade her weapons (which is very authentic because you don't get any fancy M16 rather than a full taped AK which looks kind of improvised.

    The voice acting is stunning. I'm from Germany and played it in English. Since English isn't my native language it might different to an English speaker, but I think it is just great (the German voice overs are very good, too, but I do really like that British accent, especially when women speak like that ).

    So in conclusion you got a lot of action, a lot of exploration and climbing, an intense atmosphere and story driven game with great cutscenes, awesome graphics. There is simply nothing wrong with this game.

    The only downside I could find is the easy difficulty. I play games on normal because I don't that much of a challenge and just want to enjoy the game and its story without being stuck at the loading screens. But in this game I set the difficulty on hard because finding so much ammo is simply too easy (you get never in situation were you run out of it, you even get perks to get more ammo and IF you run out you just take another of your four weapons).

    But this is not that bad and may suits less talented players very well in order to enjoy this great piece of art.    … Expand

    Best Tomb raider by far ,not the same puzzle elements as before..... so some hard core fans may miss that but there are puzzles when the temple's are found,but the action is great a lot like Uncharted.

    We all know that Lara Croft is one of the most iconic characters in video games. And truth be told, Tomb Raide has always been my favorite gaming franchise of all time. However, now Crystal Dynamics has injected a more stellar energy to its veins. Tomb Raider is much bigger, better, more intense and spectacular.     This game is awesome. I mean awesome. i love it. i play it all the time. it's a great and a little bit scary game. The weapons are little bit limited but it does not matter much. You will still have loads of fun playing it. Tomb Raider fans, Just buy it. Others give it a try 'cause i am sure you will like it. There are a lot of cutscenes though. But just try it.

    I really enjoy this game. The exploration and battle are attractive. Some guys say the QTEs are annoying but that's not true. They are not that many and are easy to pass since you have plenty of time to react. I only find the battle could be more challenging.

    I loved this game, and that in itself is a rarity. The graphics are gorgeous, I like the interaction and also like how involved you are with Lara and her emotions. I thought the balance between cut scenes and actual game play was perfect. For once the hype was right on spot. Something else that really appealed to me was how it challenged you mentally. The only negative thing for me was the bodies everywhere in some places, it seemed a bit too much and almost gimmicky and I understand what effect they were going for I feel they could of done something else to achieve it.     Great Game! Great story! Endearing characters! The graphics on the PC are simply spectacular, and well constructed maps that make sense to be played. Another interesting point is the immersion afforded because he saw me trying to understand why each element of the scenario being there. Really the series gets a new life with this reboot!

First time I played female character and feel myself as a main character, every thing around is taking you deep in to its world, cutscenes that synchronously moving in action and vice versa are making you part of all the actions inside, like you are in movie, like you are part of the movie, very beautiful and atmospheric world around you that smoothly changes from peaceful right up to the horror, makes realistic and deep feelings, every thing there is hostile but beautifully calming, whole world is against you here. Didn't expect see so many genre in so harmonious union with each other - Atmospheric, Adventure, Puzzle, Quest, Action, Stealth, Horror, H&S, Survival all with some kind of RPG elements spanning you in after every moment. Game is very active for what I was expecting from Tomb Raider game.
    For me TR becomes one of the best games that I ever played before, I didn't expect so deep and fun gameplay, but one negative thing that I didn't like in, is that game is way too easy for hard mode, but it have its good part too - you can relax and enjoy its deep, interesting and fun gameplay. (It's more like Movie for me more than Game, but anyway as I say before "it's one of the best games I ever played" or "movie I ever watched" ..? Shortly, who cares, it's great so don't miss it).
    Game for me is 10/10, really big + to Developers.
    Also can say that game have quite good optimization, also looks great on tweaked settings.
    One more interesting thing that I find here was Multiplayer very fun, dynamic and action, but sometimes it have a little problems in finding matches, but more often match starts in 20 sec.
    So worth it, game is really Great-Super-Amazing...

However, I'm glad I brought this. A lot of care obviously went into producing this title, and Miss Croft looks stunning, and even shows a vulnerable side. She also accumulates physical scarring. If you like an in-depth story, stealthy combat, a gorgeous environment and raiding tombs, get this game! You will not regret it. I have a hard time putting this game down, I just want to keep playing it. The story will draw you in and you'llThis game is absolutely amazing!     And about a compared with...another ordinary game, NO! Would be a blasphemy...remember TR was the first game with this gameplay and all the games who next about TR was inspired by the game TR.

    In the final...play new TR...feel all whole evolution-storygame of Lara in a evolution game changed from a good and great game into a ambitious, provocative and sensational game...

    Lara is back! good history, its feels like a movie,the tombs are great and well designed also it has amazing graphics and superb artwork i think its one of the best 3rd person shooters of the past generation.

    Not had this much fun and imersive gameplay from a game since Tomb Raider 2. A must for all Tomb Raider fans. Wish the multiplayer was a bit more popular as it is really good fun.

Fantastic graphics, a beautiful Setting, a meaningful skill-system, Lara as the inexperienced Explorer and well made cut scenes are just a few positive sites of this game.     The old Tomb Raider games are average at best in my opinion, so this game came as a surprise for me. It has everything a good adventure needs and is a little more realistic and serious than the original games, which makes it so much better. The only bad thing I can bring up are the quick time events.

    Best remake of a video game series and one of the best games of 2013.

    The first Tomb Raider game I played after the third one. I didn't expect much and was stunned how beautiful and interesting this reboot of the original was. Everything in this game is very well thought through and very well executed. Visually very beautiful. Great dialog, amazing game-play, and interesting achievements. Great game all around.

    This game is awesome. I am not a fan of Tomb Raider game but this version of Tomb Raider makes me good hooked to the game and unwilling to let go of my controller :D

    The actions are way better. I love the PC ver of Lara, way better facial features compare to PS3 and Xbox (even if the graphic is not as detailed). To enjoy this game, play it with a Windows XBox Controller ;)

    Fantastic job with the game. I thought it was a wise move to make Lara more vulnerable. Nice pacing to the action and story. Well acted and graphics were excellent. I really enjoyed playing it from start to finish. The only small gripe is when Lara dies, the cut-scenes were unnecessarily gruesome. Highly recommended.

    While not every promising idea Tomb Raider has is pulled off successfully, it nevertheless turns in a tense and memorable ride that combines modern game design with its forebears’ adventurous spirit in some exciting ways. Some of its missteps may well come at the cost of your enjoyment, but most can’t hope to hurt the adventure in the long run. Although it never fully finds its identity, this is a game and a story worth seeing through.
