Ubisoft gives infratctions on their forum for even disagreeing with a decision no matter how stunningly stupid it is.
They think ganking and griefing in the DZ is actually entertaining game content. The PC users on Steam are already down 95% and they refuse to talk about total users. No information gives them plausible deniability.
The hitboxes are only head, neck and torso. That is all. Again, lazy game design. Weapons that share a common ammo can actually have vastly different damage. Even with the blueprints the number range it says to expect often isn't even what you end up getting.
Crafting was nerfed because they think we should spend endless hours hoping we get a decent drop. Sorry, was this meant to be fun or a damn job?
The Light Zone as they refer to the PVE world is dead, empty, vapid and after you finish the short main story it no longer has a reason to exist so they tossed some repetitive Incursions into them.
Oh they also gave you the HVT's but then decided they should require a full squad, not offer a functioning matchmaking system for them and weight the drops so that they in all likelihood only give you the same damn piece of gear. You know, more of that broken ass RNG I mentioned.
The Support people are useless. Had somebody get into my Uplay account (which I shouldn't have to go through to simply play a game I never purchased directly from them) and I ended up with a 14 day ban because of it. They gave me no way to self report it. They won't even verify the IP address, that the password was in fact changed or that they screwed with my save file and characters in the process. I was told to prove it wasn't me. WTF?
They ban people for cheating as well without proof and then demand they prove they did not cheat either which they know there is no way to do if they give you no details as to what, where, when, how you were cheating and assume everyong has a monster hard drive and records all gaming sessions since day **** one.
Despite a metric eff ton of positive and well thought out ideas for ways to fix the game in their feedback, they simply ignore them.
Now they are pushing Watch Dogs 2, another game they released broken after some false advertising and then dropped all support for. Sorry, you screwed me enough times already. Never purchasing anything with their name on it ever again. I really do hope Vivendi completes the hostile takeover and fires the entire company. Black ball those asshats.
Oh I forgot, piss poor game optimization, they lied about a functioning anti-cheat in beta, they lied about the "rewards" the Season Pass owners would get, they lied about the outfits that they were to get as well and they continue to lie about their player base. At E3 they just claimed they had 10 million active players playing 3hrs a day. They maybe sold that many copies, ever but damn sure not 10 million people playing the game for 3 hours a day.
Nothing to see here, just another POS game from a POS company looking to take your money.

Brilliant game, interesting concept. The missions are tedious but after reaching level 30, the darkzone is a thrill place to be in. I especially love teaming up with other players and farming in darkzone, not to mention looting and building up the characters is quite rewarding. Overall I loved the game, looking forward to the expansions.

the crafting system is poorly designed, the weapon balance is none existent, the game modes are too short and unimaginative.there is zero reason to specialize your skills, the game itself is unstable and often has significant fps drops for no reason, gear sets are unimaginative and often unbalance the game even further. the RNG is the worst i have ever seen in a game and renders the majority of items useless.

basically every single pve and role play element of the divisions end game is terrible

I completed the whole game because i paid for it , but it was the worst game i ever played, graphics are awfull(i played it on ultra) . even batman arkham asylum look way more better. Ok lets just forget the graphics , missions are repetive , darkzone is full of hackers and rooks , and finally the only thing to do after you beat the game is falcon lost , spamming it for better equipment.

The world building is The Division strongest feature, with NYC represented in such a meticulous way, with an added sense of despair, and dread that really makes you feeling as if this city is in the clutches of disease. Unfortunately the story does not elaborate on characters much, and is more of a tone setter for the multiplayer components.

The gun play is solid, and the mechanics are respectable, but this is very much an RPG then it is a shooter. The loot drops are good, however most drops are similar and the feeling of progression isn't high. The main missions are the best part of The Division, with varying objectives, and fun moments, however the side quests get very repetitive after a while, and this leads to a sense of tedium.

Overall i feel like the division is a well created world, with a great sense of immersion, however mission structure, and lackluster loot drops pull down the experience for me.

The patches they release fix one thing and break 100. Literally no endgame. At least I learned a lesson, never ever again buy a game with Ubisoft name on it.

Would be an amazing single player game but it really falls short on multiplayer features, e.g. there is no character customization, no own house or some sort, not enough end game material etc.. But game has an amazing atmosphere overall, maybe it will get better in time.

First of all, lets highlight the good points of the game. One one hand we have awesome graphics, combined with an incredible good recreation of the snowy streets of New York. On the other hand we have a difficult game, in which the engagements with the enemy must be calculated instead of just runin' and shootin'. Once we have the strongest points of the game out of the way, let's talk about the negative aspects. Overall, the game feels very empty. Being repetitive helps a lot with this. The enemies are not that different between them, in comparison with other RPGs. The areas are basically the same, and the accessible buildings are copy-paste. But the worse thing is the RPG elements. The character customization is a joke. The "skills tree" is the shortest I've ever seen, which also makes you feel like you're playing an empty game.

In conclusion, the graphics are great. But that's not all, Ubisoft. The funny part of the RPGs, which is progressing with your character, customizations, etc. are just a joke. The "campaign" is short, and after that you can only repeat again and again the same missions. Looking for a good shooter? Look elsewhere. Looking for a good RPG? Look elsewhere.

If you are more of MMO person and want to play with friends, you will soon hit the wall and discover that the game is broken in so many ways. In theory you can build your character the way you want but in fact... upon doing some calculations there is 0.01% change the boss will drop the item you really want (I'm simplifying for all six stats on each high lvl item). Usually it takes between 15 and 30 minutes to complete a mission that drops one of those high level items. If that doesn't speak to you, let me put it another way. I have approx 250 hours of gameplay and my friend has 50. You would think that my gear is so much better than his... oh well, not at all. The difference is 7 points in the gearscore (206 vs 199) - which translates to, 'no noticable difference'. I'll let you think about it. I have never came across a game with such a 'cruel' drop system. Yes, the game provides some customization of perks on the items you have but this is extremely limited (only 1 spec can be edited out of 5+), and each time you want to change it, you have to roll and pray. This is because each time you roll a new perk it costs more. To add to it, there are a lot of hackers in the game who walk around with miniguns (usually SMGs hacked to provide crazy damage without the need to reload). Few weeks back the dev team banned some hackers for 2 weeks... I guess you know where I'm going with this.
Furthermore the Dark Zone, which is the multiplayer zone, is so small that 3 teams of 4 can successfully clear 95% of the loot areas (where the bosses are with good *stuff). In the last 2 weeks of gameplay I enjoyed maybe 2 hours of gameplay in DZ.
I can keep going like this but there is no point. I have highlighted most transparent flaws of the game.
Is the game pretty, yes. Is the game fun, very... very rarely... take it from someone who 'wasted' so many hours.

It was fun to watch your BoO transform and for people to being to populate it. The mechanics are pretty solid, with the exception of moving in and out of cover can cause frustration. These are the reasons I gave it a score of 2, because everything else about the game has been a disappointment.

There is very little class variation or ability to play a different style of game, such as being a tank or a healer. It's obvious there was some effort to create different classes, but it fall way short. So regardless of what build or talents you pick the game basically feels the same.

One of the issues with this game is the lack of end game content. The best equipment and weapons in the game are crafted, which defeats the purpose and fun of defeating a boss or instance. The last patch supposedly addressed this, but it truly failed to do so. Once you get enough materials to craft a new weapon or piece of equipment you are left to the mercy of a RNG and it doesn't seem random at all. In fact it seems to be weighted to prevent you from getting the kind of stats you are looking for. I crafted about 30 of the same gun and ended up with one that was acceptable, not ideal.

Glitching bosses is another issue. Players purposely glitched the game to kill the same boss over and over again. Where's the fun in that? While I never did it, I can understand it to a degree when you are subject to crafting the best stuff in the game and facing an imbalanced RNG. I dislike when people exploit an online game because it tends to ruin the over all feel and community of the game.

The biggest issue with this game is that hackers run rampant in the Dark Zone. Even after going through the process of reporting them it seems like nothing happens. One time my friends and I even had a guy in the DZ admit he was hacking and teleporting and said he would only get a two day ban so it was no big deal. This was after he had killed us with one shot and was hiding inside a vehicle, which isn't normally accessible, so it was impossible to shoot back at him.

How can you release an online multiplayer game without any form of anti-cheat requirements???? It's as though the developers and publisher want people to cheat. I know they say they are addressing the issue, but this is a game breaker that responding to such a serious oversight after release amounts to too little, too late for most players.

In a game where grinding levels and gear is required by running the same instance or route over and over and over again, even to the point of complete boredom, to have another player instantly kill you because they are cheating is infuriating. At first my friends and I were angry with the cheaters, but after it was obvious that cheaters were running around unchecked it became obvious that the true issue is Ubisoft and the game itself.

Don't waste your time or money. I wish it was different because this game has such potential.

I'm not sure how they actually thought this game through. Obviously, they've spent a very serious amount of time of creating New York City and adding all the details. All the trash and all the chaos right within the details. If you ask me, I want to play this game, when this mayhem was happening, not after!! Playing the game, I can't get over the feeling that I missed all the action, I'm just there as a clean up crew. The settings and the visuals really tells about a terrible event taking place months (or years?) before my arrival.
Now..onto the game mechanics and gameplay. While the idea about the game itself may work on paper or in a book, it just doesn't. While having all the details and brand new game engine, which seems like something I want to be utilized for more games, instead of the decade old cry-engine or unreal engine; despite all the details and back story, the game feels dull and boring, including the settings.
Once you seen 3-4 streets, you've seen them all. Plastic bags, broke down cars, garbage and body bags. There just isn't anything spectacular to see or experience.
Same with the gameplay. New players hoping to experience something better after 3-4 hours, are in for a sour disappointment, that the entire game will be, just like the first 2-3 hours. Run around the streets and shoot hoodies or guys with a flamethrowers. It just becomes an endless grind, especially with the side missions.
Upgrades are extremely dull. I just can't get excited about a new baseball hat. Especially, if it doesn't even do anything, it's just barbie-doll dressing, it serves no function. Weapon mods- giving me 3% increase in stability and such - are so pointless, that I don't care if I have it or not. I mean..3% or 5% does it even matter, when you shoot 100 bullets into a boss, so now instead of a 100, you shoot 97? Think about it. You disassemble 5 guns to have 5 weapons parts and from the 5 weapon parts you create one weapon mod, that gives you an upgrade, that is essentially equal to nothing?
I just can't fathom what the developers were thinking about while making this game. Really I can't. Just bad ideas on top of bad ideas. A waste of resources, a waste of time to create a a mediocre shooter on a next gen engine, with a lack of comprehension of what makes a good gameplay. Like, they never made a game before, or they lack an insight about what people think is fun and impressive and pleasing. Like the developers were robots, which work by a conveyor belt in a factory and the only fun they can relate to is doing the same thing over and over with no end in sight.
I won't even mention the "Dark Zone". I tried it, it's either full of hackers or just as boring and empty as the rest of the game area. Houses and streets and garbage, with hoodies and various level bullet sponge bosses roaming around.
I hate to say, but after leveling 15 times, the most fun I had was shooting at various objects (car windows, construction site cones etc) and see how they react or brake.
I will be fair. Credit is given where it's due, and the game gets a 5, instead of 1. Why?
Because, obviously they spent some crazy amount of time on the graphics and settings. So thumbs up for the game engine devs and whoever worked on the details. Unfortunately giving credit ends there. The rest of the game could have been made in 1997, when mouse aiming and collecting items were probably a thing.
Not sure if it's a great idea gone wrong, or the the idea was wrong all along, but nobody noticed?

Once you hit level 30 if you want to join a group doing missions, well make sure they are real life friends, because you won't have the gear score other groups are looking for and will be dropped consistently. That leaves you to the dark zone and again as a fresh level 30 expect to be completely rolled over as soon as you have the perception of anything valuable on you or just for the lolz by hackers.

I got this game for free and I still feel like I was ripped off/salty based on the time investment to get to level 30. Maybe revisit this game in 6 months but honestly once you're done with the story, you're done with this game in my opinion.

The Pve part is great, engaging story and it's fun upgrading your toons. Where is suffers is to remain competitive you have to go into PVP in "the dark zone" where it's a griefers paradise. And when the Rogue types kill you it's bye bye to experience, money and keys. If the game had a pve version of the dark zone this would be a 9 or 10 game. As it is, I'd recommend you pass on it.

End-Game GamePlay - Extremely Repetitive & Limited - Missions (4) or Incursions (1 for now) & Dark Zone (PvP), that's it!
Elite enemies (especially in incursions) take multiple magazines of bullets to take down 1 enemy, while they all have 1-shot kill ability and they send 1/2 a dozen at a time & they don't miss.
Gear is very randomized and getting the specs you want is less than 1%

PvP (DZ) is chalked FULL of hackers, although they seemed to have fixed the problem temporarily with a slew of 2-week bans, now the DZs are virtually empty! LOL
The game has been full of glitches & exploits from the beginning, plus random DC issues all the time due to Uplay cloud syncing issues.
Basically not much to do and a lot for Ubi-Soft to fix. Not much of an RPG experience, just mindless gear grind for perhaps PvP fun with hackers that can one-shot you from a mile away across the map and then teleport to you and steal your gear.

A terrible game once you get past the introduction (the first 30 levels).

Gameplay is repetitive, glitchy and dull as anything once the shine wears off. Game is full of trolls in the PvPvE "dark zone". The PC version is also beset with hackers and exploiters. Oh and good luck getting the equipment you need. You need to kill something like 12,000 bosses (source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQJAarzogn8) to get a gun with the stats you like. Have fun.

A good looking and promising game at first. But after you've reached the current maximum level, all you do is the same exact missions over and over and over. But the worst part of the game is the bugs. And the bugs that the bugfixes cause. And the bugs caused by the bugfixes for the bugfixes. Daily Missions are sometimes there, sometimes not. Next thing you know a ladder kills you, because of a new bug. Or you're doing one of the Incursions where you fight waves of enemies, only to have a game crash at the final wave. What started as a good looking and interesting game with possibilities is continuously turning unplayable and unfun. The players have noticed and there seem to be less and less players from day to day. The game itself would be a 7 or 8 itself if everything would be working but in the state it is in and since the game developers seem to have skipped some programming and quality assurance courses, the game is not worth anything above a 4. Very sad, was really hoping for this game to be as good as advertised. Expand

First of all .. the story was fun and entertaining. Done all side missions and everything, but after that .. came the big nothing. I regretted to buy this after 45 hrs spent, although that 45 hour was good, but expected something long term from the title. Unluckily it became just boring after finished story line and spent 10 hrs is DZ -.-

Despite what you have read this is an MMO. If you do not like PVP this game will end very quickly for you

Quests outside of 'daily's' and the Dark Zone (pvp enabled quest area) are very limited but still very fun for the few days that they are original. It is very enticing up to that end game content (again a week probs) and you will enjoy it with a group or on your own. You're looking at about a weeks play perhaps sooner if you have a high level friend that wants to race you through. I don't recommend that as you become a mere spectator in missions as his level dictates how strong the enemies are.

So it's been a few days and you're at end game.

There is plenty of customisation available to make the agent you desire. You can be an in your face shotgun playa or you can hang back and provide support to the team with great heals or big damage bombs. Much like any MMO there are a lot of build customisation options. I'd go as far to say more options than a usual MMO, build wise. Perhaps solely because no cookie cutter builds are really documented as yet. It's great but with the lacklustre controls that are the result of a console port it's easy to get stuck on the cover you intended to jump with guns blazing enough to eliminate the enemy twice over... Instead you're still stuck on the front bumper of a burnt out car saying 'one sec please' just gotta get unstuck by this car.. gonna jump right over.. wait no i'm still stuc on the other side but just wanting to separate and I got this... one sec no on the bonnet now just gimme another moment man.. actually can you please tell that grenade guy not to send his 13th grenade because I am still stuck and really that isn't fair. Who takes 13 grenades into a fight.

This game is enticing much in the way the Diablo 3 was. In fact it is a very similar game except for 3rd person / first person combat style. It does incorporate PVP however they've actually made attempts to balance it and you'll find yourself compelled to fill that gap in your item list just to compete. There's no auction house so it does feel good when you get an upgrade. Just know you'll fee bored with repetition until you finally get the item that fills a gap and can actually be used.

I'm enjoying playing this but not sure if it just due to lack of a better game to play or i really like it

It took The Division a lot of time to reach our computers and consoles, but it was worth waiting for. We have already spent about 200 hours with it collectively and we’re not planning on abandoning it, because it is, simply put, outstanding and shows amazing potential for the future. [05/2016, p.30]

An immensely thrilling action-MMO hybrid, but good for 30 hours rather than the hoped-for 300. [May 2016, p.70]
