It's been a lot of years since I've enjoyed a shooter quite this much. Titanfall is a seriously nice change of pace from your run of the mill shooter.

There hasn't been a fast paced high mobility FPS on the mainstream market for years and years, and I forgot how much I missed high mobility shooters in general. Speaking of which, the movement in this game is insane, in a good way.

On highest settings this game is glorious to look at and the sound is superb. When you're in a titan it feels like you're piloting a mech, and when you're on the ground you feel like a badass ninja super-pilot.

I highly recommend this game to anybody that likes multiplayer shooters.

Titanfall sets the new gold standard by which pc games must be measured. It rocks in every respect. It leans more towards action than to storytelling. Actually, it really, really leans towards action. I love it.

    - Fluidity. Everything feels seamless and fast and smooth. Some people here evidently have had performance issues, I personally haven't with a fairly mid-range computer. In about 20 hours of play I've disconnected from a server once (I was doing quite well, sadly).
    - Playable. Titanfall doesn't force you to play a certain way. It's also got so many little features that make it a joy. It's got the MOBA type enemies and the smart pistol for those who want a semi-PVE feeling experience. Despite the smart pistol on paper sounding extremely cheap and game-breaking, I find as long as I keep moving I get killed by the pistol as often or less than by anything else. For those who want the fast paced play of wall-running and SMG-toting, Titanfall has that too.
    - The Titans. Love them. They're amazing fun and it's just great to stomp around the arena crushing enemy pilots while pumping heavy-feeling rounds into enemy titans.

    The bad:
    - I wish there were more guns. There will almost certainly be content packs that include these but the offering is a bit sparse out of the box.
    - The Titans. I do love them. But I wish it was more gut-wrenching to lose one and felt like more of a game-changer to get one. I understand needing to allow everyone to feel the joy of bestriding a god machine and obliterating the enemy but if you lose one you think "eh, I'll have another in

Looks like fun, plays like crap. I really like how it replays how you died so you can see how the guy kicked you from 20 feet away or the bullets were not anywhere near you. If you love broken games you'll love this one because it will leave no doubt in your mind their crap is broken. Short game with bad multiplayer. Visually beautiful. A well polished turd.

The game has so much potential but as most games today it falls very short.
There is very little content, the customization is a joke and the forced campaign mode would be great if the story wasn't so hard to follow and nonsensical.
EA is yet again making games with the sole intent of profit at the expense of the customer.

Another touch I quite like are the evacuations, adds a last minute rush to the exist/stop the escapees that's different.

Also this game worked on launch day, I have had zero issues. Now this should be the norm but if we look at the last few years of AAA launches

Overall probably an 8, but I'm giving it an extra mark for working first time, all the time and being loads of fun.

Only 3 Titans and no other vehicles is another joke. The story campaign is total trash, if they added single player mod with AI bots and more mods the game would be better. This game is huge let down and i bet EA will see a lot of fast refunds from players. The funny thing about this game is that Titanfall got less multiplayer content than for example Crysis 3, where Crysis 3 was primarily single player game and dont even compare these 2 games in terms of graphics. I was kind of disappointed to low variety of choices. It kinda makes you to choose a style and stick to it. I could've give it a 10/10 but that score means it is perfect. There should be no flaws. Is there any flaws? Kind of. 60€ tag was unbelievable. One thing that really got me is campaign always go forward on a standard story no matter who won the match. Campaign should be varied depending on the winner. That would've been nice. Inability to switch teams are also annoying. IE: I was picked for Militia too many times. I wanted to play as IMC but it wasn't allowed me to do so. Lack of Private servers is an issue but it will be addressedsoon. DLC? Well. It is EA after all. Respawn made terrific job and I can see the art of the guys who made COD there. I can say that them leaving the Infinity Ward brought us this game and thank God for that. Expand

I've never been one for the consoles to start with, i've always spent my money on my computer because PC outperforms every console out there. So when i heard that an XBOX One game was coming to the PC i was relatively excited, finally i could see what they hype was about. That game was Titanfall by Respawn Entertainment.

I have never been so dissappointed with a game in all my life.

To begin with, the price, £30 for what could have been a Free-to-play on Steam. There are other Multiplayer games, for example Loadout and the grandfather of Multiplayers, Team Fortress 2, which offer a wider variety of gameplay for absolutely nothing. So how can Respawn Entertainment possibly justify charging people this much for what is essentially a simple multiplayer?

The graphics are just not up to standard for a modern game, Crysis still looks better and it's a few years old now. Hell, even games that use the Unreal engine look better! And that brings me to a very important point. Why would you consider buying this game when Unreal Tournament 3 gives you a much better game experience? It has a wider variety of weaponry and vehicles, the graphics are just as good if not better, (think modern Gears of War games).

Those of you looking for a storyline, keep looking, this games' storyline is more bland than a tapioca and tofu salad. I mean, take Team Fortress 2, Valve proved that you can have an open ended Multiplayer that has an interesting and comical storyline to it and still be fun. I feel like i've been cheated by Respawn Entertainment, and then i realise that most of them worked on the Modern Warfare series, which isn't exactly a brilliant storyline.

So technically, it's not a fantastic game. But "aha!" i hear you say, "If people enjoy playing it then your review is null and void". And i'll admit for a couple of hours it is a fun game to play.

Emphasis on A COUPLE OF HOURS.

A game that costs upward of £30 should not keep someone occupied for just a couple of hours. Take Borderlands 2 for example, if you buy the Game of the Year edition today on Steam, it would cost you £34.99, slightly more expensive than Titanfall but so much more fun. To this day i have accumilated 453 hours of playtime on Borderlands 2 GOTY and i'm still playing it. Why? Because the storyline is immersive, gameplay is enjoyable and there is ALWAYS something new to do on there. Even The Orange Box, which has quite a few games on there can be picked up for £10 these days, and for people new to Valve games, it's exceptional value for money.

In a nutshell, this game is one of the biggest dissappointments in gaming that i have ever come across, equal to Bioshock 2, Crysis 3 and the Modern Warfare series. I would say, save your money, and invest in something slightly more enjoyable, i will NEVER be giving my money to those in Respawn Entertainment, who, for all their talents, can't even come up with an enjoyable multiplayer worth the 45GB (yes 45GB!) disk space.

Matches are fast-paced, weapons seem a little unbalanced, but playing as both pilot and Titan offer several innovative features such as par-core, double-jumping when you play as a pilot, and a variety of neat offensive and defensive weapons when you play as a Titan. Titans aren't overpowered, can be earned easily, and can be killed just as easily. Getting a Titan amounts to getting temporary superpowers or a kill streak. Map design is top-notch as expected. Unfortunately, the low number of human opponents and the high number of rather stupid enemy bots, are real weak points to the game, because it's difficult to distinguish between bots and humans, and mowing down a bunch of bots, who initially have the upper hand on you, just isn't very rewarding. If the matches were 10 v 10 humans (at a minimum) with a few less bots, the longevity of the game might increase significantly.

Graphics: Any reviews you've read saying that Titanfall is beautiful graphically are simply being dishonest. At the highest settings, the game looks comparable to Homefront, is noticeably less impressive than Black Ops II, and is simply put to shame by both Battlefield 3 and especially Battlefield 4. In fact, both Tomb Raider and Battlefield 4 on the PS4 look and run significantly better than Titanfall, at the highest settings, on PC. So if graphics are important to you, Titanfall is definitely not the game for you. Additionally, the color schemes are quite bland with pale green, beige, and light brown schemes without a lot of contrast, which can make it very difficult at times to identify enemies hiding in plain sight.

Verdict: For the casual gamer who enjoys chaotic battles that don’t require a lot of skill or the hard-core gamer who wants the occasional distraction from his or her competitive shooter of choice. While I think the gameplay is good, the game lacks any longevity because of the lack of human players and the abundance of distractive, stupid enemy bots. $60 is definitely about $30 too steep to pay for this game. If you want to play the game on console, my gut tells me that both the XBOX One and XBOX 360 versions will have identical gameplay (hence the delay in launching the XBOX 360 version). So you’re probably better off getting the XBOX 360 version of the game to experience flashes of next gen gameplay, without having to shell out the cash for a new system on the false promise of experiencing next gen graphics, which simply are not part of the Titanfall package.

Sadly, that is where the good things end.

    The bad things:
-Matchmaking is simply terrible, trying to unlock 2 of the titans(you absolutely have to complete both IMC and militia campaigns to get both) is an absolute pain in the ass. Not only are the teams missmatched most of the time(average level of the opposing team being 15-20 levels higher is not uncommon) But due to people not wanting to play the campaign more than the bare minimum, you are forced to back track ALOT!, joining lobbies that take you back 2,3,4 sometimes 5 maps, just to advance 1 map later on. And the lack of possiblity to do said campaign solo, is just adding salt to the wounds.

-The Graphics, are just fugly, and if you try to improve them on an older generation graphics card, say, a GTX 285, GTX 480 or GTX 580. You run a risk of making 99% of the textures disappear, by turning on the AA.

-Ridiculous hit detection; Getting shot through walls with a projectile that does not pierce said surface, or getting jumpkicked when the person doing said kick is 2-3 meters away or through a wall, is common.

-Limited selection of maps, and the map design is usually skewed in a way, that the first team to field 2-3 titans, will most likely dominate through the rest of the match. Also the maps are usually designed in a way that gives the other team a significant advantage, for example one of the maps is located in an area you could consider a "dragon graveyard" or their grotto, the other side, allways begins with the high ground advantage, while the other need to go uphill most of the time. Not a fun thing, when sides are chosen randomly in this game, and if you get thrown on one side multiple times in a row.

-They nerfed the wrong things: The nuclear ejection has become a laughable thing. The radius of said blast, is now a titans fart, one dash, is all it takes to get out of the radius. While on the other hand, Smart pistol did not suffer a nerf. Does not look like we can assume respawn will make good choices in the future either.

-The burnercard system, is not a situational as you think, You just have to experience it yourself. It is awfull.

-The game encourages people to roam the opposing teams spawns, and there is no spawn protection, the moment your feet touch ground(you respawn) you are free game.

-The customization options for weapons and titans, are rather humble. considering the price of the game, and how small repertuar of maps you have, you would think they would have more of something.... Oh wait, over 30 gigs of the game is soundfiles(closer to 40 gigs actually).

-The game unlocks, even though they happen at a steady pace, are not necesarily what you were gunning for, and it is somewhat gimicky, for example, trying to get the 20 titans killed with the 40mm cannon, sounds simple enough, but when you realize, you have to destroy them, BEFORE they blow up after getting doomed, that task became so much more complicated, and seeing as how everyone is equipping nuclear ejection, well, good luck.

In overall, the idea of the game is awesome, but execution is poor at best, and it does not cash in on the promises it made with the beta, if anything, beta was just there to get people open up their wallets.

4/10, for a game that fails to deliver what it promised.

Best FPS since MW2. Great balance, great gameplay, great evolution of the genre. This is the next step in the FPS genre and Respawn nails it almost flawlessly. Are there minor annoyances...of course there are. But the core gameplay is fresh and different with the familiarity of traditional shooters.

As I wrapped things up reaching level 50 I had already found myself getting bored with the limitations of the game. As I got hyped playing the beta wondering how many weapons and attachments and what all customization we would get in the final release I was shocked to discover most of the game modes were in the beta, a good portion of the guns were with limited attachments for all weapons, and the only thing you're really getting in the full release is a ton of admittedly beautiful and brilliant maps. The games no graphical marvel which is fine because I'm not that picky as to how far a game can push things so long as the game looks good at what it does and this game really does look beautiful and runs extremely smooth for me. The "Campaign" from what I can tell is a sound bite and an altered way of dropping into a few of the multiplayer maps with a story that eludes most and puts in as well as kills off and pulls out characters you don't know or care about. After I beat both sides of the "campaign" I proceeded to grind the few available game modes for levels and unlocks. After putting ~40 hours into the game I found myself running the same routes in attrition to farm grunts for a quick titan at the start, nading popular pilot routes, knowing the best ways to cap and defend hardpoints, and finding my preferred way of fighting titans with my titan and then it just became monotonous rinse and repeat game play. I hate to compare this to CoD but at least CoD has modes to play against bots or a single-player to go through if you don't feel like doing another online match but with this game once you've tried the few weapons and game modes available and you want to try or do something new..your only options are to either painstakingly adjust your method of play until you feel it's mastered or play another game for a new experience. I hope good DLC comes to fix this. Great game for a good time overall but once again it's short lived and seemed incompletely like they haven't gotten around to adding a lot of stuff to it which doesn't justify the $60 price tag currently. I'll probably still hop on and check in to see if things change and to enjoy a game here or there but this doesn't come across like one of those games anyone dedicates themselves to and nothing else. Titanfall is not the classical First Person Shooter that you'll find in the shops. It isn't the normal Call of Duty or Battlefield. It's different, it's a new way of playing. It could be done better, and it couldn't be 50 GB weight, but I like it, and that's what I was looking for in such a game like that.

Talk about getting your a$$ pummeled coming late to the game with guys at level 50 with super sniper scope half mile head shot and you have this crap level 1 pea shooter. Real fun to be noobed over and over again. I think I got to level 4 and that was the worst 2 hours of my life. Each game takes like 15 minutes to finally load. No single player campaign to help bide the time. If you are an ultra competitive online player you ought to love the game. I like to play with a controller on my PC with a beer layed out in the lazy boy.

I am not sure what those graphics all the publicity shows but the game kinda reminds me of original XBox days.

I don't think I will ever buy an EA game again unless it is $10 or under.

EA tactics seem to be the bottom line of their pocketbook, not the welfare of gamers. I am done with EA.

Sure, it's a console port : textures range from okay to downright mediocre. At least, on my decent-but-by-no-means-anywhere-near-high-end rig, the framerate never drops, even in explosion-heavy dogfights, and frankly, for a FPS, that's all I'm really asking for.

But when that's out of the way, it's Section 8 (a very nice futuristic shooter from a couple years ago) but with a budget. It's nervous, action packed, and the dual scale Pilot-Titan is surprisingly well-handled. What I mean is that I expected everyone to rush to their Titan all the time, but it ends up being very fun playing as a pilot as well. Titans are much more fragile than they appear, and well coordinated pilots can be as destructive to them as other Titans.

The mobility takes some time to get used to but it ends up reinforcing the overall feeling of speed.

Most of the weapons are unlocked pretty fast, and even if some higher-level upgrades undeniably provide an edge to assiduous players, I got the feeling that skill, coordination, map-reading and tactical sense remained the main factors in victory.

Overall, a very fun game which is getting trashed for its price and its DLC politics, which is alas legitimate.

There isn't a lot to keep me playing the game, sure it's pretty but it really does feel like Call of Titan Duty Fall.
The campaign was just laughable, I have no idea what the actual story is or why these two groups are even fighting each other. The narrative was drowned out because I was busy trying to shoot people not listen to generic characters talk about...whatever the hell they were talking about. MacAllen I believe was a character? One I cannot put a face to. That's the only named character I can remember off the top of my head. Not only that but the hour and a half of campaign levels (both campaigns) are the same levels just playing them on different sides (boring). An issue I ran into was when I played through the militia campaign and then halfway through the IMC but stopped. Finding a matchmaking game for the mission I was on was dreadful. It took a crazy amount of time. On top of that when I did find a game it put me two mission back. So maybe I played through both campaigns in an hour without the backtracking.
In conclusion the game does not offer a substantial amount of content for me to still be playing this even in a months time. After playing online for 8 hours and unlocking everything, what's the point now? The campaign is laughably horrid. Something I really wish I hadn't spent $60 on.

When I leave a match after getting stomped by these people, I get put right back into the same match as them! Matchmaking also takes way to long for some reason, and it never pairs you up with anyone fare. On top of that, the teams never scramble... meaning that the same people that you are first paired up with will be who you are stuck with - if you get a stacked team you keep it until people get bored and leave. Many have claimed this game is a revolution, they are wrong, this game is an evolution of the FPS genre that despite lacking in content, is the most fun and well designed FPS on the market.

To preface this review, know that I am someone who values depth above all else, I play grand strategies (mostly paradox games) more than any other genre followed by twitch shooter, ig Counter Strike, and this translates to how I play games and influences what I value in games. I will break this review down into several categories and give a congregate score and a score weighted towards my preferences.

Graphics: I thoroughly enjoy games which are presented in a graphically appealing fashion, Titanfall, while not ugly and somewhat stylized, isnt particularly impressive as it runs on the decade old Source Engine. I will give credit to Respawn where credit is due however, this is the best looking Source game that has eve been released, with this game, they have displayed that they have the potential to create graphically impressive games in the future.
    Verdict: 6/10

Sound Design: This game has an amazing score, the IMC theme being particularly impressive. The voice acting is impressive, is highly varied and does not become annoying after playing for long periods of time. Titan sound effects are varied and are great as well. The guns however, sound like BB guns, much like Call of Duty's weapons, this is extremely disappointing considering that this issue was brought up on Respawn's forums many times from the moment of Titanfall's reveal which leads me to believe the devs do not care about their fanbase.
    Verdict: 8/10

Story: Respawn has built a rich universe surrounding Titanfall, FPSs especially are known to be lackluster in term of lore which makes this all the more impressive. As well, over the past 3~ years, Multiplayer Campaigns have evolved incredibly. I am very disappointed at Titanfall's Multiplayer campaign as I had extremely high expectations of it. The story takes place across 2 1.5 hour campaigns, Narrative is conveyed through scripted events, pre-game set-pieces and dialogue between matches. Despite these being multiplayer campaigns, they are very linear and often, player actions feel worthless and failure is impossible. Not only was the story itself disappointing however, the characters also lacked, well, character. In the 3 hours of Titanfall's campaign, the player learns nothing at all about the characters and character development is nonexistent; This game being from the team which created Call of Duty 4 makes it all the more disappointing. If you buy Titanfall, play the single player campaign once for both sides, then never touch it again.
    Verdict: 3/10

Level Design: This game has the best level design I have seen in any FPS since Quake, hands down, it possibly exceeds Quake depending on who you ask. you have to play it to understand what i mean. The maps are well balanced between Titan and Pilot gameplay, my favorite maps are Nexus, Angel City, and Fracture; my least favorite maps are Rise and Lagoon.
    Verdict: 10/10

Gameplay: This is where Titanfall is at its strongest, the parkour abilities afforded to players, the titan-pilot interaction, and the gunplay are all superb. Never does a match of Titanfall feel boring ( I have played for 30 hours so far). I have never had as much fun with a modern FPS as I am having with Titanfall. Again, one must experience this to fully grasp its excellence.
    Verdict 10/10

Balance: Titanfall is highly balanced, only one weapon feels underpowered, and the rest of the weapons all fulfill their own, unique roles and no weapon outclasses the next in every situation. As they introduce more weapons into the game (they will according to their community manager), this balanced could be lost as Respawn has no experience with DLC/ Patch weaponry. Only time will tell.
    Verdict: 9/10

Content: While this game excels in what it does, what it does is very limited. This game only has 5 gamemodes, none of which are unique, and only a handful of weapons. Very disappointing to say the least. However, this game does have 15 maps at launch which is quite staggering. Decide for yourself if it has enough content for you.
    Verdict: 6/10

Polish: This game feels incredibly polished and fine-tuned. Everything just works and it has very few bugs (currently, the only known bugs relate to random frame dips on both PC and Xbox as well as minor graphical bugs) or exploits. The game was marred by some annoying server issues on launch day ,however, these issues were quickly addressed. Few games are this well polished at launch.
    8/10

Notes: This game costs $60 and thus might be too expensive for many PC gamers who like to buy games on the cheap. It is also exclusive to EA's horrible Origin service, a huge negative for some.

Closing Remarks: If you are someone who thinks that game mechanics and gameplay are more important than anything else, buy Titanfall.

    Unweighted Score: 7.5/10
    My Score: 9/10

Very few unlocks for both Pilots and Titans. The campaign has a story which I still don't have a clue what is going on in after playing the same campaign missions over and over again... something about betrayal? I dunno, they play the cut scenes while you are in game and defending control points so your eyes and ears are too busy focusing on the game.

The gameplay itself is very solid and addictive, it's smooth as butter and movement across the map coupled with firefights between both mechs and pilots just flows so naturally. Unfortunately the good points end there. There is simply not enough content here to afford it's price tag, and I am very saddened to see the season pass already up on Origin... It is fun, and quite a thrilling experience for the first 4 hours. But I started playing it this evening, and in that amount of time I feel like I have seen the top and bottom of what the game has to offer.

If the season pass was just an upcoming content update for the game then perhaps it could be classified as a full game. As it stands it is painstakingly obvious that the game was put together and someone said "wait a minute, take this weapon, that weapon, and that map out, stick them in a bundle and sell them seperately!" It's a bit of a cash grab coasting off mass hype. I would recommend waiting it out for a month or so, a price drop is very likely once the hype dies down and people start seeing it for what it is.

I really do like the gameplay, but the mechanics are nothing new, it really is a mish-mash of COD and Hawken. It's great to have the two games co-existing in one game, but the game somehow has about half the content of each seperately.

I want to love this game, but it needs more stuff to be a viable purchase for someone looking for something that will entertain them for more than one evening

If you played the beta and found yourself growing weary of the 2 same maps and limited classes and unlocks then you should be warned, the real deal really doesn't add much more than you saw in the beta!

BTW, I am a bf fan and not a cod fan, but this game is acceptable. I would wait till it comes down in price, as it is not anywhere close, to worth 60 bucks. Expand

It's not perfect, but to say it's not worth the price represents a poor investment in one's purchase. The more I play, the more I love it, and the more I want to continue playing. Think about a MW3 with 4 times larger maps with less variety of guns and no perks no stun no flash no Killstreaks no weapon customization(well there is some but not sure why it is there? did they decided to abandon it and leave it as this?). There are mech robots called "Titans" witch are nothing compared to assault drone in MW3. Game has parkour which is not better than CS1.6 surf maps. You don't need to do it, but you can (WHY should anyone run on the walls without a reason?). AAAAND minions, clueless, poor bots waiting all around the map to be slain by you in an instant. Here is more or less what you will find in even if you play more than 5000 hours: Round starts, go go go do some wall running slay some minions. some guys started to get their titans and doing some strange "titan wars" which you will experience in a minute. Titan falls go and embark. find another titan (don't worry it is somewhere nearby) then shoot him while he is shooting you. You can punch him every now and then for a change and shoot shoot shoot and got shot and his titan doomed he ejected, this cycle continues until yours is doomed too then you eject and farm some minions and new titan ready and this goes on. You will call titan avarage of 2 to 4 times in a round of Hardpoint and attrition (pretty soon other modes will be dead) then one team loses you try to interfere their evac then it is all over. Nothing different will ever happen even if you play for a year without a break. No teamplay is needed, a little bit individual skill is enough (for pilot not titan) No decision matters. No flashy moves, no smart moves, no something amazing can be done. Run shoot die titan eject Evacuate .....

The game is not bad. It's just not worth the $60 price. Its a barebones game with no signle player, which is OK, but if a game doesn't have singleplayer (which is where most games spend their money devoloping the game before its released) it shouldn't be $60. it just shouldn't. They're making huge profit margins out of this game with that $60 asking price. And its a source game so it wasn't difficult to code.

Anyways, the gameplay, like i said it gets boring after a while if you don't play with anyone, and the 75% of people being bots, and 25% being real is also unnaceptable. This game had great potential @ E3 and i was super excited, but i'm not anymore. I have a ps4 and a PC and a 360. I'm not planning on buying this title for any platform until its $30. It simply not worth the money. Its call of duty with mechs and jetpacks and parkour. Sure its a breath of fresh air for a while, but it quickly fades into the same old ****

Like i said the main problem with this game is the price and the repetitive gameplay. You're not offered alot, and other $60 games give you alot more content for the same price.

Maybe the gameplay wouldn't be so repetitive if they took out the bots? when i played i rarely ran into any pilots, and when i did they were usually on rooftops or in titans. 90% of the game is killing these retarted bots, getting your titan, and fighting other titans. RINSE AND REPEAT.

Previously I could not get the game to run smoothly at any resolution except 1080p. It would actually run just as poorly at 720p as it would at 1440p idk if this is a driver issue or what but it is annoying having a gtx 780 ti an a 1440p monitor an not being able to play a game that I should be able to easily run at said resolution, hopefully this will be patched or a new driver released to fix this. That said I would recommend this game if you enjoy run an gun style that is easy to play but hard to master.

(Original review) The game looks great when I enter the tutorial but as soon as i enter into multilayer im hit with fps drops an even frame skipping to the point of not being playable. I talked to customer service and was told they are working on the servers an that was the issue so untill it is fixed the game is completely broke for me.

Firstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. IfFirstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. If you were to do so, you would probably get thrashed in every pilot encounter. You have to think in terms of escape and elusiveness, jumping and wallrunning your way to safety and, hopefully, a good flanking position to get the kill for yourself.

The maps are all beautiful and lend themselves fully to a pilot's parkour approach. The gunplay is solid, and Titans feel strong but not godlike, as any pilot or other titan can kill you with a bit of work, while you retain the ability to dispense a quick and violent death to any pilot you find, so long as they don't get the drop on you, and a solid chance at taking out a few enemy Titans before you are blown apart. The incorporation of titans can really change the way even classic gamemodes play, and while there are only a few modes at launch, they all work rather well. I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The Titan's non-regenerative health system is a big help in leveling the playing field.

As for sound, the music and "announcers" are both excellent at setting and keeping a fast-packed, heat-of-battle mood that matches up with the frantic shooting that you'll be doing both as a titan and a pilot. The game's campaign mode was a nice surprise, adding needed depth to a really beautiful space-frontier backdrop while also making players work for those two extra Titan formats. Customization is simple as of yet, but gives enough variety--both on the Pilot and Titan sides--to let you really rework your gameplay the way you want.

The burn card implementation is an interesting thing, and when in the right hands an amped weapon or tactical package boost can be devastating. They can certainly change the balance of a match if utilized to their fullest extend, but the fact that they disappear after a death makes players think before using them and keeps them from being too overpowered. Thank the lord that you are limited to one card per life. Also, it's great that pilots get three weapons, their primary, secondary, and anti-titan guns, and also that anti-titan weapons are generally too slow to hit pilots. No more RPG noobs.

Now, the bad parts. While the Titan combat is very fun and pretty balanced, the maps, in my opinion, do not always give you much room to work with. I'd say that each map will have a slant towards either pilot or titan combat, but the titan-slanted ones still allow pilots to run and gun as they would, only requiring a bit more care to getting stomped or blasted. On a pilot-style map, titans are much more vulnerable due to smaller streets and alleys, along with taller buildings, giving pilots easy points to shoot at or jump onto Titans. This, coupled with the server malfunctions at launch, the occasionally broken scoreboards, the presence of very few tactical packages, the lack of diversity in gamemodes, and the lack of private matches and clans made me consider giving this game so low as a 7, love it as I do, but Respawn has voiced their dedication to expanding the game as time goes on and adding many of these things for free. With that assurance in mind, I'm much more comfortable giving the game a 9 and enjoying what's available right now for what it is; a very fun, incredibly beautiful, fresh-feeling fps in a market saturated by Modern Warfare's and their knockoffs.

I know, is a fun game. But I have to write about Titanfall problems.
1- Is just a Call of Duty clone. Every moviment, gameplay, shoting, weapons is at least similar to CoD.
2- Is a 6x6 multiplayer with the "dumbest" bots of all time. Why? I told you. Because Titanfall wants you and everyone killing more than dying. Every noob will think he is good. The titan it self help on this way too.

3- Titanfall is a combination of a Call of Duty Productor + EA Games + Microsoft Plataform. Could it be worse?
4- Like Call of Duty, Titanfall was made to make noobs happy. On both games is very easy to kill. Just hold the trigger and the weapon will do the magic for you. You can be far away from the target, but all the shots will go perfectly straight to it. The weapon dont have recoil, is so artificial. All this things make the game more easy for the noobs.Even Counter Strike 1.5 has more realistic weapons than CoD and Titanfall.
5- Concluding: Im not saying that you cant have fun with this game. You probably will. But dont change the fact that Im talking about. That game sucks like CoD, but will sell like water. Unfortunately.

Gameplay is really surprising, there's always something about the controls that throws me off on pc. Call Of Duty is hyperresponsive and oversensetive, but if you put down the sensetivity, it's unbrearably slow.

Battlefield 4 and 3 are good in that regard, but it feels kind of wobbly if you know what i mean, when you're done turning the mouse, the characters gun is still kind of turning and it feels like you're carrying a 400pound weapon. In that regard titanfall in my opinion nailed it, smooth controls with no oversteering.

Gameplay might get repetetive if you're looking for a revolution in shooters, you basically have a low selection of weapons and attatchments at your disposal so there isn't much variety there.
A lot of people might say that the game plays like CoD, but I think that it depends on your own playstyle. I feel like it's a completely different game than CoD simply because you have this parkour mechanic and the titans that mix up the strategies in the game so now you don't have to mindlessly run around, you now have to find a way to be sneaky about capturing flags without being over-sneaked yourself, you need to find a way to maneuver the maps without getting stepped on or smashed to bits by a titan.

When you do compate the game to cod, you might be able to notice that it's the original developers of cod who made it, but in reality, it's a completely other game.

In Crysis 3 you have the cloaking ability to go see-through and almost invisible, why? I'd like to think that it's because that the developers know their playerbase well enough to say "well, our players are running around and they are using the cloaking ability tactically" and they're right, i've personally never seen anyone camp in Crysis, with or without cloaking. but why am i talking about camping? well because CoD is pretty known for it, there's camping everywhere whereas in Titanfall there's not camping at all, and there you also have the ability to camp 10 times more affectively than in Cod because you can cloak AND you can use the parkour-mechanics to get up on a good spot, but noone does that.

I think the game is FUN, which i can't say about many games. In battlefield i'm having fun when i'm winning, in cod i'm having fun when i'm not playing it, but with titanfall i'm having fun no matter how i'm doing. I love how they made a multiplayer game with a story that's the least in-depth i've seen in a while, but it's still incredibly immersive.

Graphics are good, not amazing, but good. I've not come across anything that i find ugly in terms of graphics. Haven't really impressed me either, so is this a problem? absolutely not. Titanfall doesn't remark itself in graphical fidelity, but in gameplay, that's where it shines, and the gameplay is damn good.

I'm hoping that there will come more weapons with upcoming DLC's, and they don't go the route of CoD by making numerous of dlc-packs that isn't included in the Season Pass, because there IS a lack of weapons.

A thing that i love about it is that there's a relatively small amount of keybindings, and then the keys does several things, but you can only do one of the things that the key is bound to at a time because you need to be in a titan to do the other thing that this given key is bound to. makes it feel very simple and easy to overcome.

Overall the game is good looking, plays incredibly smoothly no matter which graphics-settings i'm on, good responsiveness in the control, and it's FUN, which i can't say about many modern shooters.

The multilevel battlefields with titan's at ground level, and pilots at any level(often taking the high ground) makes for really entertaining fights. The map variety really has an impact on how you play, and there's plenty of freedom on some maps to make calling in a titan only ever a tactical choice instead of the go-to choice. Clustermuck sums up the experience. In multiplayer, the game has legions of AI enemies that make it difficult to tell which target is an actual player and which of them is just 1s and 0s, and thus, you end up shooting at the wrong person and getting shot in the back. Load times are unbelievably terrible, and after a match is finished, you have to wait for 1 and 1/2 minutes to begin the next round :/ I've... Never seen a shooter quite like Titan fall. It's certainly not a good way to make one. That was a wasted $60. Oh yeah, and you can't win unless you're using a titan, so the matches degrade into whether you're lucky enough to not get shot by 2 enemies in titans ganging up on you, because after you lose your titan once, you have to wait an absurdly long time until you get another one. Stupid. Went back to Battlefield 3 within 2 hours. Expand

Titanfall is a great game. Possibly, one of the biggest problems for it, is that it is a very different game. Most games at least pay lip-service to a single player game. This game barely does, with a Multi-player campaign. For some reason, I see a lot of people cutting this game down for that. So, for the meat. This game has amazing mobility, that is extremely fluid on the PC. The game runs amazingly well. It has a great balance, and your actions seem to really matter. The game builds you, from the ground up, as a hero. From being able to run like a mad man all over the place, to farming grunts, to being able to bring down Titans. You and the other players are the heros.

The game has some issues that need fixed. It needs a much better match making system.
There are only a handful of guns. I see this as a strength and weakness. It allows for great balance, but at the cost of customization.

Most issues are fairly minor. I really do enjoy this game..

Let me just burst your bubble if you got on the hype train for a revolutionary new instant COD killer, Titanfall is not it. For the better, as I learned from a few hours solid play upon release until feeling I have enough for this review to be honest and reliable.

First and foremost is the COD connection, this is the spiritual successor to Modern Warfare 2, made by about 39 of the 48 original Infinity Ward members if I recall the numbers correctly. It’s the vast majority of them at any rate. There are homages to the call of Duty's of yore everywhere for those that know how to look, from the zero recoil weapons that focus on action more than leading targets, to Martyrdom....yes people, they really love that perk. But you can actually dodge its Titanfall equivalents if you keep your head on a swivel. I'll leave the rest to you but needless to say you will feel right at home if you played MW1 and 2 before either got hacked to hell.

Now about not being a COD killer if it's the spiritual successor: Titanfall revolves around the dynamic between Titans, your killer robot on a permanent timer, and pilots, your player avatar. Titanfall is also a MOBA FPS, which may lead to confusion/frustration if you do not expect or understand this. To explain it briefly; You farm enemies called Grunts and Spectres for weapon unlocks, objective points and time off of the build time for your next titan. Grunts and Spectres cannot kill you if you have rudimentary motor skills and enough spatial awareness not to trip over thin air. They are not enemy AI but a resource that looks like enemy AI, and was poorly explained as such by Respawn.

On the player side, the permutations for players and titans have been stripped back to the archetypes. With this I mean that you do not have 12+ automatics with statistical and aesthetic differences but about 4+ with drastic differences between them. Think of any stock FPS weapon from the accurate, hard hitting semi-automatic to the instant kill heavy sniper rifle, and you will find it here. The problem is that many players will not understand or accept this. I myself am an advocate of avoiding needless fluff as has come to dominate the genre, but the customization options in Titanfall are simply too anaemic. There are no cammo options for example and only basic male/female gender options. You will find nothing to make your avatar feel unique or your gun feel like there are many like but that one is yours.

Similarly the game modes are TDM, Domination and hybrids between the two (as I class CTF). The most popular FPS modes to be sure, but a very thin selection nonetheless. Nothing imaginative here. Frankly I find the graphics to be very acceptable, If you want to have the most cutting edge, rig melting graphics out there titanfall will disappoint you. It's use of the source engine guarantees it to have a good chance of running on a potato though. And it's very lovely on a rig with ample grunt. Of particular note is the amount of detail present and the massive diversity of animations. The game looks very good on a maxed out rig like mine, much better than any recent COD game. Though I realise that is not exactly setting the bar high.

The single greatest selling point, and why I would recommend this game personally is that it is fun. Think to yourself for a moment about how many FPS games have been fun to you recently. I for one feel as if Titanfall is a shooter which has had liposuction. All the useless crap meant to make you needlessly grind for days to get what you want is gone, but so are the customization options that people actually enjoy a lot and the game mode variety they have come to expect. If domination and team death match are modes you love then Titanfall effectively offers you the zenith of them. The map design is excellent all around and there are 15 in the base game. The gameplay is very well balanced due to the small selection of weapons and the three titans Stryder (mobility) Atlas (balance) and Ogre (tank) fulfil their respective roles without either being horribly overpowered.

now about the plot: You are a soldier is the service of Captain Admiral something or other, whom is in a marital dispute with his husband of 15-20 years (couldn’t hear over the gunfire), Rebel leader Monologue Mc.Gruffvoice. C3PO's douchy brother keeps talking about reactors overheating, making it abundantly clear that there is some serious sexual tension here. You are effectively tools in their weird military S&M game where they try to dominate one another's hard points. There's also giant robots falling from the sky, because it makes it hotter. Many violence, much shoot,

I bought the game knowing that it had no campaign, so thats not a problem for me. But yeah, a campaign would have been awesome!

If the game had more stuff to unlock, I'd give it a ten, but its a very solid nine for now.

PS: if you buy the game just to complain that it has no campaign, you are dumb. Its been stated that it would not have that feature, that it was a multiplayer game. I really don't see the point of complaining over and over about that.

No, this game is different. It is hard to describe the adrenaline rush that you are experiencing before game starts. The moment when I destroyed the opponent's titan with my bare hands for the first time was like jumping into a pool filled with cocaine. Never tried cocaine, and I don't want to, but this is how I imagine the feeling. I even sang "WHO IS THE F..KING WINNER" to the melody of "Drunken Sailor". And then I got killed for the 14th time. Damn it...

When I died - because an opponent had summoned his titan to fall directly on my head; and when I had fun unlocking new achievements; and when I was gaining upgrades I needed; and when I never get lost on the maps I've never seen before; I couldn't believe that developers could manage so many elements and don't break the balance of the game. You won't experience wandering, confusion in the upgrade system or very slow reloading of the magazine. Every single death is only your fault - you either didn't have a plan how to enter the battlefield or you missjumped from one rooftop to another. Even the HUD it made in such a way that it displays everything that we need to know at exact moment without distracting us from the real battle.

This game will crush you, and it does not forgive. But it also gives you a chance to survive more than 3 seconds without a headshot just after respawning. Some might complain that there are only 6v6 battles and, since maps are not that small, while running around we can arrive somewhere where nothing happens because the main fight is a bit farther. But such empty places are the only moments when we can stop and think about our next move - the rate of exchanging fire in the center of the field rarely gives us time for it.

And you have to think - this is not a single player game. The most important fact is that owning a Titan doesn't give you a clear advantage. Of course Mechs are more resistant and can smash the infantry with one stomp while firing a salve of missiles but the 'ants' are not defenseless.

Pilots not only have 'go-away-titan' weapons, but thanks to their mobility, can take advantage of a moment of distraction and jump onto the back of the battlemachine and eliminate it from the fight with a precise shot in the cables. Despite the physical advantage over the pilots, both "forms of life" are well balanced. This is not a choice between a better or worse chance of gaining new frags, but between two completely different ways of playing. In short - but not precisely - the player chooses between strength and firepower of a Titan, and the flexibility and mobility of a Pilot.

The choice isn't easy. The mobility is crucial to have a chance on the battlefield. When you play as a pilot you will discover that you have to learn a completely new way of moving around the map. This game is closer to Ricoshet from Valve than to BF or CoD. Jet belts gives you the possibility to double jump and to do amazing parkour tricks. The maps are so well-designed that there is always a wall to run on and surprise an enemy by jumping from above him. And even if you are on a certain map for the first time you will never feel lost.

You can feel that this game was designed for hardcore gamers, but - the "true gamers" now have to take deep breath - it doesn't smash newbies just because they had the courage to buy it and login. But don't get to excited, newbies - you will be smashed. But you will receive a few seconds of life more than when you first logged to CoD. Firstly - the aforementioned empty spots on maps. Secondly - disposable upgrade cards that will hide your weakness at the beginning.

The only reason why this game won't receive the highest note are the game modes. After all those new gameplays and tactics, Respawn Entertainment gives us old-fashioned Domination and Capture the Flag. It pains me that they didn't prepare at least one original game mode. Probably the game is supposed to become the new e-sport icon like it is CS 1.6, and that's why they didn't want to rewrite all rules from scratch but the bad aftertaste remains. And releasing new game modes as paid DLCs may discourage some players. Fortunately there are sites like kinguin.net where you can buy it cheaper than on Origin.
Now, if you'll forgive me, I'm going to send some Titans to the scrapyard.

Your pilot when not in a Titan allows some really cool maneuvers kinda like free running / matrix . You can also go invisible . Now if u see a Titan you can jump on it's back and rip its parts out and shoot it internally . So their not op tanks like bf for example.

Yes it may have features from cod / bf but it feels like its own game. I have played many hours of cs / cod / bf and it does feel fresh. This game has the competitive feel to it and may put casual players off. Prepare for ownage if you don't learn quickly.

I feel as though this game is getting a lot of shrapnel for things that are not in any way its fault, nor indicative of the actual game experience. Many user reviews, both on Metacritic and outside of Metacritic, cite a few reasons over and over again for their absurdly low scores, scores which seem to be lower than they should out of some kind of spite to drag the score down. Here's whatI feel as though this game is getting a lot of shrapnel for things that are not in any way its fault, nor indicative of the actual game experience. Many user reviews, both on Metacritic and outside of Metacritic, cite a few reasons over and over again for their absurdly low scores, scores which seem to be lower than they should out of some kind of spite to drag the score down. Here's what I see:

    1. Bots ruin gameplay
    2. Only 6v6
    3. Dated graphics
    4. No singleplayer
    5. Call of Duty with mechs

All of these points are either inaccurate, or should not be held against the game.

Firstly, let's tackle the ones that are factually true: 6v6 and no singleplayer. The game does not advertise itself as a singleplayer game and then deceives you. Respawn set out to create an immersive multiplayer experience, and that's what they're delivering. If you want quality single player content, this is obviously not the game for you. Dark Souls II just came out: I highly recommend it. Nobody would rate Counter-Strike: GO lower for not having a single-player, and this feels like a double-standard to me.

The 6v6 player limit is a good thing. Titans are massive and if there were more than 12 running around, the maps would become flooded and the experience would be an awful mess. Despite that last remark, the maps are expansive and beautiful, and each one is unique and depicts a stunning sci-fi landscape.

I also think its hypocritical to use the 6v6 player limit against the game, but then say that bots ruin the experience. The bots make you feel as though you are engaged in a large-scale battle that is going to have a tangible impact on the war between the two in-game factions. They add a lot to the experience, and were not simply thrown in haphazardly. There is one game type in particular where farming them will lead to victory.

Many have remarked that the game has dated graphics, and on this point I will concede that Titanfall does not hold up to upcoming titles like Infamous: Second Sun or The Witcher 3. However, there is something to be said for both the art design of Titanfall and the high standard games like W3 and Infamous: SS set for the industry. The game looks beautiful because of the art design and weapon effects. The aesthetics alone make up for the slightly outdated graphics, and I enjoy looking at this game much more than graphically superior titles like the Crysis series.

Finally, the biggest critique is that it's just CoD with mechs. I think anyone who truly believes this hasn't played more than a single match of the game. The amount of gameplay driven content is staggering: The game places a huge emphasis on both freedom of movement and Titan driven combat. Many complain that the Titans don't feel heavy enough, but that's subjective at best. The presentation for the Titans is very well done. These are power-suits, not Mobile Suit Gundams or other giant robots. Many critique the "lack" of customization, citing other games like CoD or Battlefield as having more, and to a degree, this is true. But each weapons in Titanfall is a solid and useful entree. I can't tell you how many guns have been included in CoD titles only to be never used prestige after prestige.

In brief, negative reviews for this title fail to recognize all of the things the game did right: Freedom of movement (a call-back to arena shooters and something that hasn't been done right since Halo 3 or Tribes: Ascend), ground-breaking gameplay features that create a more immersive multiplayer experience, and the balanced implementation of mechanized power-armor, not to mention the high quality of presentation. I believe that the game is getting heat for feeling very similar to Call of Duty in the gunplay department, but the title has so much more to offer, and people tend to forget that while the franchise may be declining after so many rehashes, that doesn't make the gunplay from the original Modern Warfare less good.

This should also not be viewed as a highly competitive title. I have enjoyed a healthy competitive experience with the game, but it does not replace the drive or satisfaction I get out of titles like CS:GO or SF4.

I will concede that the price point is extremely high, but I rarely pay $60 for any game these days, and I do not believe $60 should be the industry standard. Thinking that a lack of a rehashed, 6-hour campaign that is so prevalent in modern-era shooters should be held detriment to this title is preposterous. I didn't like them tacking on multiplayer in Bioshock 2, so why should this developer be forced to deliver singleplayer content in a clearly multiplayer-driven game? Titanfall is definitely worth looking into. Origin even offers a 24 hour grace period to return the game, something that Steam fails to offer (maybe the only thing Origin does right). It's really hard to lose out here because of that.

If parkour and robots are your kind of thing, definitely give this a shot. I'll be hooked on this one at least all summer.

oh, and fyi...i play this on the PC so dont give me any of that "you're just a disgruntled sony fanboy crap".
With that being said lets talk Titanfall. 1 Day before launch I got sucked into the Hype and preordered it...luckily from a keystore so i only paid 35€ instead of the usual 50€ retail...

I see the Review Scores of high 80s for this one and im beginning to scratch my head and ask myself if our expectation have really dropped so low that this game gets such a high rating.
While not being terrible or even bad i consider it simply mediocre.
heres a couple of pros and cons

    Pro:
-The Titan Gameplay and the way you can customize the weapons on the Mech is fun, really enjoyed that part alltough i do get the feeling at times that some of the higher lvl abilities create too much of a gap to low lvl players
-The Sound Design is pretty decent...in the non campaign multiplayer modes. the constant voiceovers when playing the campaign are annoying.
-The Parcour Part adds a fun component ... on the downside it gives new meaning to the term bunny hopping...

    cons
-Graphics...you can tell its a console port...the first i saw some of the textures up close i had to go into the options menu cause i thought i had set them on low or something...turns out it was the highest setting. with that being said, even with the awful textures the game sometimes runs choppy(on a comp that can run crysis 3 on high with no issues...and there are worlds between these 2 in gfx quality)
-Map Design...again, being a battlefield person, i expect maps to have a certain flow, not to mention scale. imo titanfall lacks both of these. the maps are tiny and allow for very little tactical gameplay.
the maps also dont really have a distinctive feel to them...the textures may be different but in the end they all feel the same.
-6v6 ... for a Multiplayer game in this day and age this simply is emberassing. half the time youre shooting bots and not players.
-the Bots...useless...plain and simple...not once have i been killed by a bot so far...these things cant hide the broad side of a barn from 5m away...
-game modes...considering this was supposed to be the next big thing the game modes really dont offer anything new
-bad automatch system...im not even sure if there is a balance feature here. quite often one team starts being outnumbered by 2 ... then you join a game with 6 lvl players below lvl 10 in it going up against 6 lvl30+...oh yeah...and there is nothing but automatch...no server browser or similar.
-the perks and unlock system is rather shallow. there really isnt a lot of choice there.
-the autoaim pistol...this has no business being in a competitive shooter, end of story.

What i've come to realize is that if you, like me, didnt like CoD you're not gonna like this. The game cannot deny its ancestry and as such, while being an improvement from CoD it certainly doesnt bring anything worthwhile new to the shooter genre in general.

    bottom line...
is it an improved version of CoD ? yes
is it more than that ? no ...

After all this, knowing it was a multiplayer only game, I tried to connect to the servers and they were all being hammered... understandable. Then, hours later when things calmed down I finally got to enjoy Titanfall.

    For about 5 minutes.

Yeah, it crashed and not just a small crash, whatever origin did ruined the main partition on my SSD that I use for both the main OS and my games. So I can't exactly review this game, at least not on PC. It could be great but it cost me more time than I'll probably be able to play it. My 0 rating is an indication of this. Tread with caution -- you may as well get the Xbox One version though the graphics are absolutely crippled compared to PC version which I admit looked quite good.

This game is refreshing, that's the best way to put it. It has aspects of Call of Duty, Halo, Counter-Strike, and Tribes... it's still early(content wise), but it's an amazing change in the FPS genre.

The story is non-existing(who plays a FPS for the story?).. but the genre is a nice modern/sci-fi setting, which really bring out the best in the modern war shooter as well as hitting the science fiction aspect with the Titanfall's.

The mechanics of every building being scalable(sp?) is one of the greatest addition to FPS mechanics in a very long time. After letting my roommate play, I watched and realized that habit(for everyone playing) is to stay on the ground like traditional FPS, but as you start to take advantage of the ability to climb any building, it gives a serious Tribes feel... the entire map is your playground.

People have complained about the repetitive nature.... Have you played ANY other FPS? Every FPS I have ever played.. ever.

The game is repetitive yes, but no different than any other FPS out there. Hop in a lobby, play a map you've played before, kill people. Titanfall is neither a positive or negative in this aspect... it's done nothing in my opinion to differentiate from the repetitive nature of other shooters, but it isn't any different than COD or Halo in this aspect.

Ultimately, the game is a fast pace shooter(fastest COD out there imo)... it has different game mechanics which make it unique(scaling any building, the Titanfalls themselves).

The game is not for everyone, but here's the type that I think will and will not enjoy it:

    Will:
Call of Duty players(Not the die-hards that live, eat, and breath anything that Activision throws at them, you'll never win the fan boys)
Counter-Strike players- As a former CS player that has played several other shooters but hasn't really been hooked on any of them), this is the closest I've come to that hooked feeling. True fast paced, shoot and kill gameplay.

    Won't:
Battlefield players- While I enjoy the BF series, it's a strategic shooter that has an emphasis on teamplay, this game is a run and gun where you can have success with or without your team.
COD Fanboys- There are people that feel like enjoying this game is a slight against COD in some way and it's amusing but ridiculous.

So I give it a 9 out of 10. If you enjoy fast paced shooters, you'll love this. Plain an simple. It's a return to the twitch based shooter. It's definitely the most fun I've had playing an FPS in recent memory.

I'm going to save everybody the effort right now, Titanfall is not a game worth getting for the PC in my opinion. There are just so many detractors to the game. Starting with the most obvious, the install is 50GB due to uncompressed audio, taking up 34GB of the download. Right off the bat this is an indicator of a lazy PC Port. This is literally just a port. The textures are horrible, they did NOT optimize for PC, and the graphics are, considering that this is a $59.99 supposedly AAA title, mediocre.

Getting into the core gameplay for multiplayer, pretty much using your Titan at all puts you at a disadvantage. The maps are too small/crowded in order to warrant actual Titan battles without having to constantly swivel yourself around in one of the game's many narrow corridors. There is maybe 2 maps that this isn't a huge issue on. Maybe if the Titans had a jump or something like that this could have alleviated the problem somewhat, but as is, piloting your Titan is practically useless. You're better off calling a Titanfall and then just having your Titan guard you.

The game apparently has 15 maps? But only cycles through maybe 5 of them at a time. It feels like it's more limited than it should be, I thought the addition of bots would make the game better but it's TERRIBLE; the bots are incredibly incompetent. They add nothing to the game, they're not tough, and they come in abundance; you can skip killing people and kill only bots and get a decent score... but where is the fun in that?

One of the other things is that the game doesn't even have a good campaign mode, all you know is the Militia and the IMC are fighting because... ??? When playing campaign, you constantly have people talking via mic and then the game itself speaking to you at the same time, while you're fighting players. It's nearly impossible to multitask, making split-second decisions while having to listen to other people as well as the game taking to you about the lore.

Speaking of which I couldn't care less about whatever the story is while I'm trying to pilot a Titan and fend off another all the while someone is climbing on my back. I feel like the campaign mode could have been so much better and more engaging if it was just a sort of co-op story where you're fighting NPCs, and had actual cut-scenes between combat and worlds to enlighten your group to the lore. Campaign is literally pretty much Multiplayer... but you don't get to choose what game mode you're playing.

Nextly, lobbies. There is no such thing as a truly private lobby. You can't create a game to play JUST with your friends. In addition, you get kicked from your private lobby after just 5 minutes of not choosing a game mode.

Next thing that REALLY grinds my gears is the lack of skill matchmaking. I couldn't tell you how many times I got into an Attrition, i.e. Death Match (which honestly is pretty much the only game mode anybody is playing), only to have my team consist of six members between level 2 and level 14, while the enemy team consisted of approximately level 32 to level 45. Extremely disappointing because they have exponentially more powerful Titans and gear unlocked.

Oh, speaking of gear. The game boasts 33 weapons, and what a troll that is because that statement neglects to mention its talking about cumulative weapons, including your Titan's weapons. Not counting Titan weapons, you get 1 Shotgun, 2 Sniper Rifles, 2 SMG's, 1 LMG, 2 Assault Rifles, 1 Rifle and last but not at all least, the worst gun of all the Smart Pistol, which is the worst item in the game, pretty much easy mode the pistol. It does all the work for you, and I understand why they put it; in theory: to seem more advanced, more technological. Because a gun that automatically locks onto heads and to people when youre in range and the bullets turn on an automatic trajectory? That sounds advanced to me. This feels like Wanted (the movie) the game. But wheres the fun in that? There is none. One thing I love about the weapons is the EVA Shotgun, because that shotgun works and it is the rudest shotgun I've ever used in a game. That shotgun is the only thing I love in this entire game to be completely honest. You can't customize your guns for how you play, like the EVA-8 Shotgun, it comes with Iron Sights... but you can't change out the sights for anything else. Same thing goes for all the other weapons with their specific perks. And when you create a custom loadout, you can't name it, it literally just sits in "Custom Loadout 1", or 2-5 or so.

Overall, I am honestly very disappointed with the amount of hype that Titanfall had going for it. I was expecting a lot more. I'm not completely shutting my door to Titanfall, but it is not worth $60, especially with the amount of issues that they have right now. I'll probably wait until they get their **** together and possibly until it goes on sale, but for now I'm just going to shake my head and spend my money on a different game.

I have to give Titanfall a 0 because I can't even make it to the main menu, my specs: Intel i7 2680qm 8-core 2.50ghz, 16gb Ram, Nvidia GTX 560m, these specs are well within the minimum requirements and yet when I click play I get an error message saying "Game Startup Failure because Video Card not Supported by Required Features"...... for 2014 that is unacceptable.

This is the same old. You have to stop and Aim Down The Sights with iron sights inorder to have the best accuracy. There's no fastpaced skillbased action like in Quake3:Arena or Unreal Tournament. You have regenerating health just like in Call of Duty and every other modern FPS. You have short sprint just like in Call of Duty and every other modern FPS. Even the Titans can't run and shoot, they also have to sprint to move fast. You have weapon limit like in Call of Duty and every other modern FPS. You have reqular weapons just like in Call of Duty and every other modern FPS. This is another GENERIC MODERN FPS. What point do you not understand? There are no freezers, biorifles or shrinkrays. All the weapons are just reqular bullet weapons without any imagination. There is no skill involved since this gameplay is the same Call of Duty one hit kill. You shoot people in the back and they have no time to turn since they die from one shot to head, one shot to leg, one shot to toe and one shot to finger..

This is not an Competitive FPS by anymeans. This is nothing compared to true Competitive FPS like Unreal Tournament, Quake3: Arena, or Counter-Strike. This is another generic Console Shooter. Not even close to being a true PC FPS.

Avoid at all costs if you have any brain left.

The game feels smooth and the pilot mech interaction is excellent. The first couple times you play the game it's fairly impressive but sadly it's downhill from there. There's very little to no content and the maps all feel the same. Few game modes make this game feel incomplete. Overall it's overly hyped and while it plays well there's very little substance.

A fun high speed take on the competitive shooter. Game is a light on content, there aren't many maps and all the game play modes are tried and true. If you like team death match and hard point games types then this game will server you well. If you are sick of Battlefield then this might be a fun alternative. If you can pick the game up on a discount, I say go for it.

Well let me tell you something, that's BS. It is nothing over a mediocre shooter with a few fun mechanics such as the wall running/parkour and the giant mechs. The gunplay is almost IDENTICAL to COD and the bots are literally no challenge at all. If you die by one of the grunts/spectres you should just uninstall. Which brings me to my next topic, IT IS F****ING 50GB. ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? 35GB of that is uncompressed audio files, as apparently it will make the game run better on low end machines. So therefore I need to be punished and made to download 50gb, even though I have a rather high end rig. The customisation is cool, but there really isn't enough guns for a full price title. Now enough with the negatives. The game is quite a bit of fun. It runs off a highly modified source engine, which I don't know what you think, but is probably the best engine out there for gameplay. I can probably see myself playing this game for a while as this is probably one of the best shooters in a while. I can recommend this game to COD fans and if you really like the idea of controlling enormous mechs, it's pretty badass I must admit. Although if you are looking a revolutionary FPS game, give it a miss. But it is a breath of fresh air for hardcore FPS players. Expand

Game is fun but It's starting to get boring very fast. And I still hate bots. They should put more work in game modes and managing lobby's. No server browsing. .. I feel like there is not enough content to justify the price. And paid map packs will fragment players and kill this game very quickly.

No server browser. [On a PC game, are you serious?]
Weapon damage & accuracy are both a joke, unless you just pub it up with a shotgun map after map, and that's not a solution, that's adapting to bad balancing.
Bots were presumably added to combat this out-of-date player limit, but they only hamper the fun due to their horrific, laughable, erratic, incomprehensibly terrible AI behavior.

It having been shipped to both PC and XBox at launch, this has prevented the PC version from being able to fully realize its potential, which may be resolved in future PC-only updates. For the time being, do not waste your money on this game..

[I went against my better judgement here, not being a fan of ANY recent title with EA on it, and should have gone with my instincts, especially at the 'premium game' price of $60 bucks]

Definitely a great game, with some flaws that'll hopefully be patched out later. Movement is phenominal and my favorite part of the game. I initially had a problem with the "smart pistol" in the beginning, but after playing for a while I came to the conclusion that it's only really unbalanced during Attrition.

There are a few problems that keep it from a 9/10. For one, I hate the level up mechanics. You shouldn't be limited on your equipment just because your new (see Counter-strike for how it should be done). Now player skills are a different matter, but you should have all the guns you need immediately. There's also the AI. The titan AI is actually great, but the minions are so incredibly dull. I stood in front of one for minutes while it shot at me and missed constantly.

I'm gonna do one more section: negative points other people give it.
    1. 6 v 6 is fine. You'll meet enemies more than enough to be satisfied. Stop complaining.
    2. Graphics seem very hardware dependant, people complain about bad textures but mine look great.
    3. Frame Rate is a little rough here and there, but those fixes will be incoming.
    4. I'm fine with no Singleplayer if a game is built around Multiplayer correctly (which this is)
    5. Recoil would be a negative thing in this game. There's too much vertical movement to include a weapons recoil. That said, EVERY gun is recoil-less so it doesn't actually unbalance anything. Just get used to it.

That said, my actual experience didn't come close to living up to the hype. First off, if I spend $85 on a game, I'm expecting amazing graphics and lots of content. On a modern gaming rig in 2014, the graphics are awful, combined with the fact that the maps are tiny and there is not very much customization, and there are only 15 maps. The combat mostly seems to be running around in circles and frantically jumping and firing until someone's shots (which aren't even affected by recoil) hit the target, then they die. It's difficult to tell the difference between opposing players and the AI bots, made worse by the fact that the AI bots are completely and utterly worthless. Then, the worst part, the size of the game: 50 GB for this little content because we need uncompressed audio for ten languages? Is Respawn for real? It's like they don't want people with decent PCs and SSDs to play the game, because there is no way this game should be taking up 1/5th of a decent sized SSD for this amount of content, for no justifiable reason other than to help people with bad computers, which the graphics were clearly designed for (I'd be happy if the graphical settings could extend higher up, but nope). When I play a FPS, I like there to be aiming and strategy, and to start you have three methods of aiming: a rifle which you only have time to shoot from the hip, a pistol with an aimbot, or a shotgun. Where's the skill? It's all reflex. So to sum it up, Call of Duty style action (as a seasoned Battlefield player, that's exactly what I don't want) in tiny maps without much customization, and terrible graphics to go with taking up a whopping 50 GB of space. I am completely disappointed. Expand

In the mind-boggling question that tortures world's biggest gaming studios (how to refresh the competitive FPS genreĀ), Respawn answers by taking the Call of Duty core, enhancing it with elements from various sources and franchises (Mech games, Crysis , Tribes, Mirror's Edge etc.) and forging it in the Old School mold (Quake/Unreal Tournament) . Titanfall does not innovate. It manages, however, to leave a fresh taste by balancing nicely all components of its gameplay.

Titanfall is a highly entertaining online shooter, but it's a bit light on content for a full priced game. You quickly start to realize that Titanfall could desperately use more maps, more unlockables, more upgrades and more customization. [Apr 2014]
