Titanfall is exactly as advertised, especially when based on the gameplay trailers, but most likely overhyped to death. It feels quite similiar to Call of Duty, but somehow it felt different at the same time. It's something a fan of first person shooters can tell, even if it isn't readily apparent to others. Things such as gunplay, sense of recoil, first person animations, and first person camera movement can alter how a shooter "feels" to some gamers. Is it a bad thing that Titanfall is similiar to Call of Duty? That depends on your perspective on shooters or games where multiplayer is the selling point!

Titanfall's strengths lie in a few key areas. Which I'll try to summarize here: The Titans, of course, are the most obvious selling point, and are pretty much as awesome as advertised. We get at least fifteen maps in the base game, and each one takes advantage of both pilot movement and Titan combat. The pilot, which you play as, has excellent and extremely entertaining parkour or jump jet movement. This is all tied together with extremely fast paced, snappy combat that somehow manages to outdo Call of Duty's fast paced combat! Overall, it's super fun, and very competitive without the pain (as the game makes you feel good even if you aren't "doing well" at the game).

The weaknesses of Titanfall: Depending on how you view repetition, Titanfall can be repetitive, as gameplay ends up falling into a cycle or a pattern. Matters are confounded by the lack of truly unique or new game modes besides the usual material, such as TDM, CTF, and a conquest style game mode. The PC version is wonky for a few gamers too, with the performance for myself ranging from smooth to suddenly bad, and other fairly minor issues (because it is a nicely designed PC game). Do these flaws hurt the game? Maybe. But they don't do that much to fatally wound the game!

The progression system: We get a nice number of goodies to unlock in the normal progression format. It's fun and addictive, with a very extensively large "challenge" system which act as mini achievements that give you tangible rewards (you unlock weapons, "perks", and weapon attachments). I just wish there was way more to unlock, especially for the pilot weapons and Titan weapons. There isn't nearly enough unlockables at the moment, but that might be a strength to the game, as gameplay matters more than dangling carrots in front of our faces!

The unusual aspects of this game: Titanfall has "Burn Cards", which act as a one round long buff to your pilot's abilities. You can unlock these burn cards by playing the game, but you have to be careful once you use them, because dying will immediately erase your Burn Card effect! But that isn't the only unusual thing about Titanfall. To some degree, this game is like League of Legends, Smite, or DOTA 2. All allied or enemy AI bots are often referred to as "minions", and actually attempt to take objectives which is very cool. They give much less experience points or objective points (in TDM) than actual players, but they offer a very good way to distract enemy players so you can go in for the kill! Also, at the end of every round, you chase after the retreating and remaining enemy players, and you get to bust up their only method of escape (but they can escape, earning bonus points)! All these things feel somewhat unusual, and are welcome changes to the usual FPS formula.

Alright. Titanfall, when viewed in comparison with multiplayer shooters that have been coming out recently, is a great game. Is it revolutionary? No, I highly doubt it. But it gives us a great science fiction setting with nice music, audio, action, and visuals. It's definitely more "involved" than most shooters I played lately that had the main character having a useless "jump" button.

I highly reccomend it for fans of multiplayer shooters! Everyone else, consider this game carefully before buying it.

Very refreshing game. Sure, there is nothing really groundbreaking there, but the way all the small details of the game fit into each other perfectly is just amazing.

Your really have to experience the mobility aspect of the game for yourself to understand why this game feels great. Plus it is well balanced at release, that's some great QA here.

Only two complaints tarnish the picture : the stuborn reliance on matchmaking rather than server browsing on PC is a shame, and the game modes are simple and could have been more immersive (dynamic objectives/map progression as in TF2, for instance), which might reduce replayability.

Other than that, if you like old school FPS with a fresh polish and some nicely thought details, give it a try !

It's the constant pacing of the multiplayer and the cool ways in which you can move through levels that make TitanFall a bit like Call of Duty, but with less calculation and more artistic expression. You can play the way you want as long as you don't think you can get away with persistent camping. In TitanFall, the battlefield constantly shifts. There are no real choke-points. There's high points to ground level, left and right flanks. You can be attacked at any moment, you just have to be constantly kinetic to avoid being an easy target. I love TitanFall, I just hope that it doesn't burn out quickly like the last couple Call of Duty games have for me as there's really just competitive multiplayer to be had here (even with the slight touches of story woven into the mix), because it really is a good game. No. Is there an insane amount of fun that leaves me shaking after basically every round from adrenaline? You bet. It takes me back to a simpler time when we weren't worried about all the stigma the FPS genre has around it these days; back to just running around like mad and shooting things.

If you are looking for an in depth, story-driven game, this isn't for you. However, if you are looking for a fun way to kill a few hours and not even realize it...pick it up!

I don't normally play shooters so keep that in mind. I really enjoy Titanfall. There is a dynamic to the pilots vs. titans that makes it feel great when you take down a titan (or severely injure) as a pilot. It keeps it fresh as even when you are a titan you are constantly watching out for pilots taking shots at you from windows, while trying to stay focused on fighting other titans. No need to worry about classes, or med kits, or vehicle repairs - just load up and start.

Something else I liked was how accommodating I found this game to new players. If you aren't feeling very confident, it's simple to grab a smart pistol and pop off some bots. It means someone who's new can focus on one thing at a time - once they get used to the movement system (necessary to get close enough to use the pistol) they can try out something else. There's a real change of pace once your titan arrives, which helps to keep things fresh.

The "campaign" mode is good fun, as it adds an element of excitement to the missions, with interesting cut scenes, scripted events and speeches prior to battle which stops the bout become just another meaningless grind fest.

Some textures could use some work however. The texture quality is especially noticeable during "space" cut scenes, where I would rate them as poor. This is a shame, as everything else offers plenty of opportunities to inspire awe. It is also worth keeping in mind that the game worlds look far better when you're sprinting through them than if you're standing still, but that's how it should be, as it's so much fun just running around that you really wont want to stay in place for too long.

The lack of a single player campaign was a shame, but at the same time I'd rather one isn't included at all than having a bad one. The campaign on Battlefield 4 for instance was so lame it would have been better had it never existed. A few more maps in different environments wouldn't have gone amiss either - yes the ones that are included have a lot of character, but having a space mission, or ocean, or aerial, or jungle etc., would have been appreciated.

Respawn has done a fantastic job of improving this game. At first, Titanfall seemed very bare bones and didn't have the bells and whistles that made the game feel complete. Respawn over the past few months has released patches and game updates to improve the experience, such as a horde mode and other unique to Titanfall game modes. While I do believe their needs to be more Titan chassis and customization options for your pilot and titans, this game has met my expectations.

I can't go too far and give this game a 9 or 10, however. While I can forgive the limited customization options since this is the first iteration of this series (I believe there will be a sequel), there is simply no excuse for not having a campaign mode. Sure the game has a "story" mode, but since it occurs in multiplayer you won't be following it at all. In fact, the you can get through these "story" matches within an hour.

Titanfall isn't without it's faults, but I find myself coming back to this game weekly. It doesn't revolutionize the FPS genre, and it certainly isn't a perfect game, but I will say that this might be the most fun I've had with an FPS in the past 3 years.

The titan gameplay is well executed and the dynamics that arise from playing as a pilot with a titan are fun and innovative. The game largely centers on death-match spin-offs, inlcuding a more strategic game mode in last titan standing. Last titan standing is a very refreshing mode to play because of how well it counterbalances the classic cod run and gun gameplay with the more deliberate and careful team-based gameplay this kind of titan-focused mode requires.

As far as the campaign goes, this game could have done a lot of really cool stuff with the campaign, showcasing more set-pieces and playing on competing objectives between teams. Unfortunately, the campaign really does not add much of anything to the experience. Then again, the game never was really advertised as having a campaign (it's existence was questionable prior to release). SO while the campaign is a bummer, I don't really see it as being a barrier to enjoying the core game in its more traditional game modes.

Lastly, the support for this game has been fantastic since launch. Respawn has released regular updates that improve and add to the game experience pro bono. The only thing they have charged for so far are the extra maps, which I have found to be well worth the money spent. The free content has ranged from titan insignias to matchmaking improvements to challenges to new game modes to a black market (FREE OF MICROTRANSACTIONS!!!!).

Overall I think this game is a solid shooter experience. It doesn't necessarily reinvent the wheel but it changes and adds just enough to make for a refreshing experience. Being someone who has not played a multiplayer shooter for any significant amount of time since CoD Modern Warfare 2, I generally do not play these kinds of games. This one just has enough innovative core gameplay elements to have kept me interested since launch.

From the first trailer that was released for Titanfall, I had this excitement that we we're finally going to get something, in my mind, that was new and refreshing. And, for the most part, I can safely say that Respawn have not disappointed.

I've been playing the game on the PC for about 20 or so hours so far without any major problems or quirks. The gun play feels great and is extremely responsive, while also having a lot of variety in the types of weapons. You have the normal assortment of assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, DMRs, Sniper Rifles and the really cool S.M.A.R.T Pistol that locks onto enemies and guides the rounds into their targets. The Titan gameplay also feels really refined and this is where the game shines. The mix between Pilots and Titans during battles, even with the lower 6 v 6 player count, makes for some epic moments as you bail out of your doomed Titan while being fired upon from different directions, getting catapulted into the air and then trying to hide or return fire. I've had some pretty awe inspiring moments so far.

If we look at the overall graphical and audio quality of the game, things look and sound quite good. The graphics, though not state-of-the-art by any stretch, get the job done when it comes to details on the Pilots and Titans. Pilots have great looking armor and suits that pending you're using the Insane Texture settings, look absolutely amazing up close. The Titans also look great when it comes to texture quality but also in the animation department. The animations in the game look incredible with the Titans acting like super-sized soldiers, moving left to right with virtually zero stutters.

Now, overall you have to look at the big picture and look at what kind of value this game offers. First off, the game does not have a Single-player mode so for some of those single-player fans out there, you're out of luck. All of the "Story" features have been seamlessly integrated into the multiplayer in the "Campaign" mode which is simply a combination of different games modes and maps with an added narrative at the beginning and end of a match. Game modes range from Team Deathmatch (Attrition), CTF, Domination (Hardpoint) and a Last Titan Standing mode, each mode calling for a different play style to be successful. The multiplayer also integrates a feature called "Burn cards" which are one time use abilities that grant you weapons, speed boosts, armor boosts and whatnot. Finally, customization is definitely key in this game with familiar create-a-class features coming from the Call of Duty series included for both your Pilots and Titans.

To really sum it up quickly, if you're a big fast-paced multiplayer fan looking for something a little different, give Titanfall a shot. Unfortunately, there will also be the people that will see the lack of any other modes apart from the mutiplayer as a weakness and a problem for longevity and that is who the game won't be for.

Let me just burst your bubble if you got on the hype train for a revolutionary new instant COD killer, Titanfall is not it. For the better, as I learned from a few hours solid play upon release until feeling I have enough for this review to be honest and reliable.

First and foremost is the COD connection, this is the spiritual successor to Modern Warfare 2, made by about 39 of the 48 original Infinity Ward members if I recall the numbers correctly. It’s the vast majority of them at any rate. There are homages to the call of Duty's of yore everywhere for those that know how to look, from the zero recoil weapons that focus on action more than leading targets, to Martyrdom....yes people, they really love that perk. But you can actually dodge its Titanfall equivalents if you keep your head on a swivel. I'll leave the rest to you but needless to say you will feel right at home if you played MW1 and 2 before either got hacked to hell.

Now about not being a COD killer if it's the spiritual successor: Titanfall revolves around the dynamic between Titans, your killer robot on a permanent timer, and pilots, your player avatar. Titanfall is also a MOBA FPS, which may lead to confusion/frustration if you do not expect or understand this. To explain it briefly; You farm enemies called Grunts and Spectres for weapon unlocks, objective points and time off of the build time for your next titan. Grunts and Spectres cannot kill you if you have rudimentary motor skills and enough spatial awareness not to trip over thin air. They are not enemy AI but a resource that looks like enemy AI, and was poorly explained as such by Respawn.

On the player side, the permutations for players and titans have been stripped back to the archetypes. With this I mean that you do not have 12+ automatics with statistical and aesthetic differences but about 4+ with drastic differences between them. Think of any stock FPS weapon from the accurate, hard hitting semi-automatic to the instant kill heavy sniper rifle, and you will find it here. The problem is that many players will not understand or accept this. I myself am an advocate of avoiding needless fluff as has come to dominate the genre, but the customization options in Titanfall are simply too anaemic. There are no cammo options for example and only basic male/female gender options. You will find nothing to make your avatar feel unique or your gun feel like there are many like but that one is yours.

Similarly the game modes are TDM, Domination and hybrids between the two (as I class CTF). The most popular FPS modes to be sure, but a very thin selection nonetheless. Nothing imaginative here. Frankly I find the graphics to be very acceptable, If you want to have the most cutting edge, rig melting graphics out there titanfall will disappoint you. It's use of the source engine guarantees it to have a good chance of running on a potato though. And it's very lovely on a rig with ample grunt. Of particular note is the amount of detail present and the massive diversity of animations. The game looks very good on a maxed out rig like mine, much better than any recent COD game. Though I realise that is not exactly setting the bar high.

The single greatest selling point, and why I would recommend this game personally is that it is fun. Think to yourself for a moment about how many FPS games have been fun to you recently. I for one feel as if Titanfall is a shooter which has had liposuction. All the useless crap meant to make you needlessly grind for days to get what you want is gone, but so are the customization options that people actually enjoy a lot and the game mode variety they have come to expect. If domination and team death match are modes you love then Titanfall effectively offers you the zenith of them. The map design is excellent all around and there are 15 in the base game. The gameplay is very well balanced due to the small selection of weapons and the three titans Stryder (mobility) Atlas (balance) and Ogre (tank) fulfil their respective roles without either being horribly overpowered.

now about the plot: You are a soldier is the service of Captain Admiral something or other, whom is in a marital dispute with his husband of 15-20 years (couldn’t hear over the gunfire), Rebel leader Monologue Mc.Gruffvoice. C3PO's douchy brother keeps talking about reactors overheating, making it abundantly clear that there is some serious sexual tension here. You are effectively tools in their weird military S&M game where they try to dominate one another's hard points. There's also giant robots falling from the sky, because it makes it hotter. Many violence, much shoot,

I really never felt like I was playing COD but I was in some futuristic world jumping 50 feet in the air doing all kinds of crazy fun stuff , like battle giant mechs and pulling off some crazy kill moves , like ripping some one out of there titan and tossing them away like trash..

That's not to say the game is perfect because its not. The story mode is a complete joke. For a Online only game I expected a bit more. Yeah 15 maps are great but that's right around the bare bones min when you consider this is a online game and should have had 20 or maybe even 25 when you are pricing this at $60. also game modes... it needs more of them. the ones it has are great and all but why not add a 16 vs 16 mode or a 32 vs 32 mode just for some crazy fun.

The amount of gear and wepons and skills you get are pretty good and they all feel like the belong in the game. Over it is fun but I would not say worth $60 as is. There is just not enough content in it to justify the $60 price tag. If it was say $30 or $40 I'd say sure get it.

I don't see my self playing this months from now but I do see myself enjoying it for the time I do play it before it gets old to me. Its not a game I see having a long lasting appeal for some people.

Titanfall is a fast paced, exhilarating and enjoyable multiplayer experience that takes classic hallmarks of the genre and brings them into a new and exciting modern day title that excels in several key areas. With Call of Duty becoming increasingly stale and Battlefield struggling with persistent issues; this game is a great alternative in a very competitive sector.

Firstly, the engine and controls are absolutely magnificent. These allow for frantic and fast paced gameplay, the likes we all saw and loved in Unreal Tournament and Quake. Anything and everything on the fantastic and varied maps can be scaled in seconds. You can wall run, jump from pillar to post and land on your feet without fall damage. It's incredible fun darting round and matches are often extremely fast and furious. Camping is almost non-existent in this game and if you see someone lurking around a rooftop, they can be got at in seconds with the flawless and fluid controls and map design. The guns and bullet detection is also of an amazing standard. The infrastructure of the menus and general presentation is easy to navigate and mimics that of COD which may seem a negative but it's actually beautifully put together and designed.

The typical modes that you expect are all there from Attrition (TDM) to Hardpoint Domination (DOM) and CTF. There is also Last Titan Standing along with Pilot Hunter which is titans v titans and a TDM variant that focuses on PVP point scoring. The playlist may seem small but the key gametypes matter more than 'novelty' modes which has plagued COD.

Titans are the main part of this game and although I prefer the pilot gameplay; these don't disappoint. The mech aspect is enormously enjoyable and brutal to other players on the ground. The controls are easy and the weapons are spectacular. This adds a new dimension to the game and against other titans; it also adds to the battle on a substantial level.

There are a few negatives with this product though and my biggest concern is the player count. 6v6+bots is a problem. I can see why the count has been reduced to incorporate the titans but this has a hugely negative impact the pilot gameplay overall. The bots offer nothing in combat and are just like recruit bots on COD. The gameplay becomes somewhat discredited. It ups the ante when titans are spawned but it's far too sparse at times with just foot pilots. Large kill totals with other players is a rare and at times frustrating occurrence. Shooting bots isn't very satisfying either. The campaign is also a total disaster. It's played in the multiplayer experience with fellow players in matches at the same point as you. The story played across both sides is extremely hard to follow and very weak indeed. A completely pointless addition for a MP game only.

The game also feels very bare at times with a distinct lack of guns, unlocks and depth. The price is very steep although the season pass is very respectable.

Overall, Titanfall is a great game but is let down in a few areas that matter. It's huge fun with some stunning design and production standards but this doesn't quite have the depth and staying power that games like these in the genre require. I'd happily give this a 9 for now but I fear this could go down in a few months as keeping me engaged in this product may prove tricky in the long run with its lack of features and limited lobbies. Time will tell but credit due to Respawn for now at least. A great alternative .

i know many of you is just like "its just a new shooter"- and yes, it is. but this game has freaking titans!!! is there any more fun playing, and waiting for your titan to be ready to fall through the sky.

but yeah, the graphics arent "beautiful" but they are far from ugly, i havent followed the storyline very much, but it is better than CODG.

I was very critical at first but once I learned to play the game properly I was hooked. TF is a brilliantly balanced game and the maps are designed by a genius. The flow of the game can't compare to anything else I have seen.

Another thing is the campaign that includes online people, I defiantly thought this would be a downfall and lead it to be less imersive. But its not, I mean the game inst really going to played with campaign in mind, but its still there and still fun.

People say that the graphics were not there but when you have everything maxed out, which inst that hard for a system to do, it looks like a great game. Plus your not even focusing on how good it looks when your having so much fun in online matches.

Just everything about this game is amazing, I like many other thought it would fall under another COD type of game play and the same old same old but seriously I was wrong there.

    Some downfalls (though not many)
-50 freaking GB download size... this was due to uncompressed audio which in some cases could be put under a positive because on weaker systems, not having to constantly uncompress audio could really give you more power.

-Load times are a bit of an issue, I mean you wait a bit to get into a lobby that is full of players, then you wait 80 seconds for the game to start, and then you wait another 30 seconds. but its just a minor thing.

Overall, this has probably got to be one of the best games I've purchased and would defiantly recommend it.

I can't say I fully understand all of the hate this game has been getting but I suppose the true lack of innovative gameplay modes is the real killer. That being said though, the gameplay mechanics are executed masterfully, and the fluidity of movement and the flow of the maps is top notch. I've played quite a few "mech" games and never before has map traversal been so enjoyable as what they managed to pull off here. I never get hung up on objects while in a titan, and yet the maps are anything but flat, and for that I have to congratulate the designers. Also, the game is frantic, but I rarely feel frustrated while playing, unlike something like crysis 3 multiplayer which also has a blistering pace, but is maddening to play. The graphics are actually really pretty when you max everything out on PC, and even with the settings cranked, FRAPS rarely shows a dip between 120fps which makes it look glorious on my 144Hz display. Yes, there aren't a million weapons, but I think the gadgets and weapons can be combined in enough unique ways to fit all of the different play styles you'd want anyway. I'd actually rather have this than the clutter of similar weapons in a game like Battlefield 4, and unlike that game, yes there are some guns that are better than others, but they all seem to be balanced quite well. The titans feel powerful, but the pilots are certainly not to be taken lightly and the method of balancing the titan vs pilot gameplay is actually really clever. It's not something like Halo 4 where pretty much any weapon makes vehicles seem useless, and it's also not like some other games where the vehicles blow everyone away. I was hesitant to buy this game because the internet has shown nothing but disappointment, but I have to say I've been really pleasantly surprised and I hope the servers stay full. The fact that there isn't a single player campaign isn't a big deal, and I"m not sure why so many people have an issue with that. How many people actually replay campaigns in COD, or BF4 more than once? And when they play them, people just complain about the poor quality of the campaign anyway so I personally don't miss it. I think this game is brilliant, the amount of loadout customization they allow you to have is fantastic, it's just SO so smooth to play, and the maps are all completely different and I think they look great. I think more people need to take another look at this game, because it really is highly underrated in my opinion. If you haven't played it but are bashing it anyway..... stop doing that, sink 8-10 hours into it to get a feel for it, and then we'll talk. Expand

Unfortunately it's not all sunshine and daisies. I do have some minor complaints (and some less minor complaints as well). First off, while I do like the idea to add AI grunts to the mix to fill out the playing field... there's only one game mode that actually requires their presence and gives them a purpose other than a minor distraction. Grunts in Attrition are a step in the right direction, but I think the idea is squandered in other game modes. I also wouldn't mind seeing more weapons/ items as well as some new game modes (the latter of which have been promised as free DLC). Lastly, I do have some complaints about the current state of the PC port of Titanfall. Despite promises of an upcoming patch since the launch of the game, it is still locked at 60FPS and does not support multi-GPU systems. While the game does run fine on a single GPU, those of us with 120hz or higher displays would like to utilize the full horsepower of our systems.

Definitely a great game, with some flaws that'll hopefully be patched out later. Movement is phenominal and my favorite part of the game. I initially had a problem with the "smart pistol" in the beginning, but after playing for a while I came to the conclusion that it's only really unbalanced during Attrition.

There are a few problems that keep it from a 9/10. For one, I hate the level up mechanics. You shouldn't be limited on your equipment just because your new (see Counter-strike for how it should be done). Now player skills are a different matter, but you should have all the guns you need immediately. There's also the AI. The titan AI is actually great, but the minions are so incredibly dull. I stood in front of one for minutes while it shot at me and missed constantly.

I'm gonna do one more section: negative points other people give it.
    1. 6 v 6 is fine. You'll meet enemies more than enough to be satisfied. Stop complaining.
    2. Graphics seem very hardware dependant, people complain about bad textures but mine look great.
    3. Frame Rate is a little rough here and there, but those fixes will be incoming.
    4. I'm fine with no Singleplayer if a game is built around Multiplayer correctly (which this is)
    5. Recoil would be a negative thing in this game. There's too much vertical movement to include a weapons recoil. That said, EVERY gun is recoil-less so it doesn't actually unbalance anything. Just get used to it.

Firstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. IfFirstly, Titanfall's motion mechanics are insanely fun and satisfying, adding a whole new twist to how you can use a battlefield. Going back to Halo 4 and CoD Ghosts after playing this game made me realize just how much was added to the game by the jumpkit. When you are in a one-on-one fight, you don't have to strafe and duck and go prone--actually, there is no prone option anyway. If you were to do so, you would probably get thrashed in every pilot encounter. You have to think in terms of escape and elusiveness, jumping and wallrunning your way to safety and, hopefully, a good flanking position to get the kill for yourself.

The maps are all beautiful and lend themselves fully to a pilot's parkour approach. The gunplay is solid, and Titans feel strong but not godlike, as any pilot or other titan can kill you with a bit of work, while you retain the ability to dispense a quick and violent death to any pilot you find, so long as they don't get the drop on you, and a solid chance at taking out a few enemy Titans before you are blown apart. The incorporation of titans can really change the way even classic gamemodes play, and while there are only a few modes at launch, they all work rather well. I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? The Titan's non-regenerative health system is a big help in leveling the playing field.

As for sound, the music and "announcers" are both excellent at setting and keeping a fast-packed, heat-of-battle mood that matches up with the frantic shooting that you'll be doing both as a titan and a pilot. The game's campaign mode was a nice surprise, adding needed depth to a really beautiful space-frontier backdrop while also making players work for those two extra Titan formats. Customization is simple as of yet, but gives enough variety--both on the Pilot and Titan sides--to let you really rework your gameplay the way you want.

The burn card implementation is an interesting thing, and when in the right hands an amped weapon or tactical package boost can be devastating. They can certainly change the balance of a match if utilized to their fullest extend, but the fact that they disappear after a death makes players think before using them and keeps them from being too overpowered. Thank the lord that you are limited to one card per life. Also, it's great that pilots get three weapons, their primary, secondary, and anti-titan guns, and also that anti-titan weapons are generally too slow to hit pilots. No more RPG noobs.

Now, the bad parts. While the Titan combat is very fun and pretty balanced, the maps, in my opinion, do not always give you much room to work with. I'd say that each map will have a slant towards either pilot or titan combat, but the titan-slanted ones still allow pilots to run and gun as they would, only requiring a bit more care to getting stomped or blasted. On a pilot-style map, titans are much more vulnerable due to smaller streets and alleys, along with taller buildings, giving pilots easy points to shoot at or jump onto Titans. This, coupled with the server malfunctions at launch, the occasionally broken scoreboards, the presence of very few tactical packages, the lack of diversity in gamemodes, and the lack of private matches and clans made me consider giving this game so low as a 7, love it as I do, but Respawn has voiced their dedication to expanding the game as time goes on and adding many of these things for free. With that assurance in mind, I'm much more comfortable giving the game a 9 and enjoying what's available right now for what it is; a very fun, incredibly beautiful, fresh-feeling fps in a market saturated by Modern Warfare's and their knockoffs.

I would also like to throw this out there. I feel that this game was limited because of Microsoft and their demand that this be the MUST HAVE GAME for the Xbox One. That means that isn't a lot of content in the game compared to some other rivals (missing a true campaign that truly explains what is going on, only a handful of game modes, very few weapons and limited game mechanics).

This game is great for an Xbox One game. 6vs6 on that console is good since the console is pretty lacking (It's like the older brother of the Wii U). But for the PC...it can be a bit disappointing. The graphics are nice but they're not GREAT or AMAZING. It's not the kind of game that makes your rig flex its muscles. It's the game that's meant to be played by the masses (like WOW). Now for a game like WOW that's fine since those type of games are never about graphics, but FPS are the most eye candy games.

I feel that for the PC the graphics should have been much better and the maps should have been 125-150% larger with 10vs10 matches not 6vs6. I have no problem with enemy AI, I just feel that they need to be adjusted because they're simply too weak. Honestly, if anything I feel that they're just a distraction. They're the pieces of turd that are hiding the good stuff (pilots).

As for balance, I feel that the game is pretty balanced so far (but hey I've only played for like 90 minutes or so). This is the kind of game in which you can jump in for the first time and do some damage or simply get destroyed due to your lack of your surroundings (and inability to focus on the mini map to distinguish between AI and Pilots/Titans). For a console game, it's worth the $60 price tag, but for a PC game...I feel a bit ripped off. I think that it should be $40 or at most $50.

Now down to the point. Is this game fun? You can bet your rear end that it's fun. It's extremely fun and it makes you want to come back for more. I had to chose between this or MGS Ground Zero (PS4) and well I chose this game. I can see myself playing this game for around 100 or so hours (I only have like 20-22 hours in BF4 and somewhere around 40-50 in BF3). This game has been hyped but it's stable. I can actually play the game and don't have to worry about having my game crash or have some audio problems or graphical glitches or even lag due to poor programming.

    In a nut shell

    Pros:
    -Fun
    -Addictive
    -Simple controls (no complexity)
    -Mechanics simple
    -Noobs can have fun
    -Losing isn't that bad
-My blood doesn't boil due to getting killed from lag or some crap or having my game crash

    Cons:
-Was obviously made for the Xbone (bone box)
-Limited graphics for the year 2014
-6vs6...should be at least 10vs10 with maps that are 125% larger
-No legit campaign mode (A bit disappointed. The original COD PC games had fun campaigns that were worth playing)
-Limited physics (Titans should have the power to destroy buildings...Come EA!!! Let Respawn use that Frostbite engine. They'll put it to better use than Dice).

I feel as though this game is getting a lot of shrapnel for things that are not in any way its fault, nor indicative of the actual game experience. Here's whatI feel as though this game is getting a lot of shrapnel for things that are not in any way its fault, nor indicative of the actual game experience. Many user reviews, both on Metacritic and outside of Metacritic, cite a few reasons over and over again for their absurdly low scores, scores which seem to be lower than they should out of some kind of spite to drag the score down. Here's what I see:

    1. Bots ruin gameplay
    2. Only 6v6
    3. Dated graphics
    4. No singleplayer
    5. Call of Duty with mechs

All of these points are either inaccurate, or should not be held against the game.

Firstly, let's tackle the ones that are factually true: 6v6 and no singleplayer. The game does not advertise itself as a singleplayer game and then deceives you. Respawn set out to create an immersive multiplayer experience, and that's what they're delivering. If you want quality single player content, this is obviously not the game for you. Dark Souls II just came out: I highly recommend it. Nobody would rate Counter-Strike: GO lower for not having a single-player, and this feels like a double-standard to me.

The 6v6 player limit is a good thing. Titans are massive and if there were more than 12 running around, the maps would become flooded and the experience would be an awful mess. Despite that last remark, the maps are expansive and beautiful, and each one is unique and depicts a stunning sci-fi landscape.

I also think its hypocritical to use the 6v6 player limit against the game, but then say that bots ruin the experience. The bots make you feel as though you are engaged in a large-scale battle that is going to have a tangible impact on the war between the two in-game factions. They add a lot to the experience, and were not simply thrown in haphazardly. There is one game type in particular where farming them will lead to victory.

Many have remarked that the game has dated graphics, and on this point I will concede that Titanfall does not hold up to upcoming titles like Infamous: Second Sun or The Witcher 3. However, there is something to be said for both the art design of Titanfall and the high standard games like W3 and Infamous: SS set for the industry. The game looks beautiful because of the art design and weapon effects. The aesthetics alone make up for the slightly outdated graphics, and I enjoy looking at this game much more than graphically superior titles like the Crysis series.

Finally, the biggest critique is that it's just CoD with mechs. I think anyone who truly believes this hasn't played more than a single match of the game. The amount of gameplay driven content is staggering: The game places a huge emphasis on both freedom of movement and Titan driven combat. Many complain that the Titans don't feel heavy enough, but that's subjective at best. The presentation for the Titans is very well done. These are power-suits, not Mobile Suit Gundams or other giant robots. Many critique the "lack" of customization, citing other games like CoD or Battlefield as having more, and to a degree, this is true. But each weapons in Titanfall is a solid and useful entree. I can't tell you how many guns have been included in CoD titles only to be never used prestige after prestige.

In brief, negative reviews for this title fail to recognize all of the things the game did right: Freedom of movement (a call-back to arena shooters and something that hasn't been done right since Halo 3 or Tribes: Ascend), ground-breaking gameplay features that create a more immersive multiplayer experience, and the balanced implementation of mechanized power-armor, not to mention the high quality of presentation. I believe that the game is getting heat for feeling very similar to Call of Duty in the gunplay department, but the title has so much more to offer, and people tend to forget that while the franchise may be declining after so many rehashes, that doesn't make the gunplay from the original Modern Warfare less good.

This should also not be viewed as a highly competitive title. I have enjoyed a healthy competitive experience with the game, but it does not replace the drive or satisfaction I get out of titles like CS:GO or SF4.

I will concede that the price point is extremely high, but I rarely pay $60 for any game these days, and I do not believe $60 should be the industry standard. Thinking that a lack of a rehashed, 6-hour campaign that is so prevalent in modern-era shooters should be held detriment to this title is preposterous. I didn't like them tacking on multiplayer in Bioshock 2, so why should this developer be forced to deliver singleplayer content in a clearly multiplayer-driven game? Titanfall is definitely worth looking into. Origin even offers a 24 hour grace period to return the game, something that Steam fails to offer (maybe the only thing Origin does right). It's really hard to lose out here because of that.

If parkour and robots are your kind of thing, definitely give this a shot. I'll be hooked on this one at least all summer.

Gameplay is really surprising, there's always something about the controls that throws me off on pc. Call Of Duty is hyperresponsive and oversensetive, but if you put down the sensetivity, it's unbrearably slow.

Battlefield 4 and 3 are good in that regard, but it feels kind of wobbly if you know what i mean, when you're done turning the mouse, the characters gun is still kind of turning and it feels like you're carrying a 400pound weapon. In that regard titanfall in my opinion nailed it, smooth controls with no oversteering.

Gameplay might get repetetive if you're looking for a revolution in shooters, you basically have a low selection of weapons and attatchments at your disposal so there isn't much variety there.
A lot of people might say that the game plays like CoD, but I think that it depends on your own playstyle. I feel like it's a completely different game than CoD simply because you have this parkour mechanic and the titans that mix up the strategies in the game so now you don't have to mindlessly run around, you now have to find a way to be sneaky about capturing flags without being over-sneaked yourself, you need to find a way to maneuver the maps without getting stepped on or smashed to bits by a titan.

When you do compate the game to cod, you might be able to notice that it's the original developers of cod who made it, but in reality, it's a completely other game.

In Crysis 3 you have the cloaking ability to go see-through and almost invisible, why? I'd like to think that it's because that the developers know their playerbase well enough to say "well, our players are running around and they are using the cloaking ability tactically" and they're right, i've personally never seen anyone camp in Crysis, with or without cloaking. but why am i talking about camping? well because CoD is pretty known for it, there's camping everywhere whereas in Titanfall there's not camping at all, and there you also have the ability to camp 10 times more affectively than in Cod because you can cloak AND you can use the parkour-mechanics to get up on a good spot, but noone does that.

I think the game is FUN, which i can't say about many games. In battlefield i'm having fun when i'm winning, in cod i'm having fun when i'm not playing it, but with titanfall i'm having fun no matter how i'm doing. I love how they made a multiplayer game with a story that's the least in-depth i've seen in a while, but it's still incredibly immersive.

Graphics are good, not amazing, but good. I've not come across anything that i find ugly in terms of graphics. Haven't really impressed me either, so is this a problem? absolutely not. Titanfall doesn't remark itself in graphical fidelity, but in gameplay, that's where it shines, and the gameplay is damn good.

I'm hoping that there will come more weapons with upcoming DLC's, and they don't go the route of CoD by making numerous of dlc-packs that isn't included in the Season Pass, because there IS a lack of weapons.

A thing that i love about it is that there's a relatively small amount of keybindings, and then the keys does several things, but you can only do one of the things that the key is bound to at a time because you need to be in a titan to do the other thing that this given key is bound to. makes it feel very simple and easy to overcome.

Overall the game is good looking, plays incredibly smoothly no matter which graphics-settings i'm on, good responsiveness in the control, and it's FUN, which i can't say about many modern shooters.

Campers/camping hadn't been an issue to date(hello COD) and the parkour movement system is really easy and enjoyable. The multilevel battlefields with titan's at ground level, and pilots at any level(often taking the high ground) makes for really entertaining fights. Personally, it has enough game modes for me... i can't think of any other specific modes that i would find necessary, that other similar games offer. the tried and true are here, and they work really well. The map variety really has an impact on how you play, and there's plenty of freedom on some maps to make calling in a titan only ever a tactical choice instead of the go-to choice. On other maps, titan's rule. Definitely a good game for those that buy Battlefield and COD for the MP, not the SP (honestly, i can't remember the last time i played through the Single Player campaign of a Multiplier game, eg, COD and BF unless there was an unlock to get. A fun high speed take on the competitive shooter. Game is a light on content, there aren't many maps and all the game play modes are tried and true. If you like team death match and hard point games types then this game will server you well. If you are sick of Battlefield then this might be a fun alternative. If you can pick the game up on a discount, I say go for it.

Previously I could not get the game to run smoothly at any resolution except 1080p. It would actually run just as poorly at 720p as it would at 1440p idk if this is a driver issue or what but it is annoying having a gtx 780 ti an a 1440p monitor an not being able to play a game that I should be able to easily run at said resolution, hopefully this will be patched or a new driver released to fix this. That said I would recommend this game if you enjoy run an gun style that is easy to play but hard to master.

(Original review) The game looks great when I enter the tutorial but as soon as i enter into multilayer im hit with fps drops an even frame skipping to the point of not being playable. I talked to customer service and was told they are working on the servers an that was the issue so untill it is fixed the game is completely broke for me.

Many have claimed this game is a revolution, they are wrong, this game is an evolution of the FPS genre that despite lacking in content, is the most fun and well designed FPS on the market.

To preface this review, know that I am someone who values depth above all else, I play grand strategies (mostly paradox games) more than any other genre followed by twitch shooter, ig Counter Strike, and this translates to how I play games and influences what I value in games. I will break this review down into several categories and give a congregate score and a score weighted towards my preferences.

Graphics: I thoroughly enjoy games which are presented in a graphically appealing fashion, Titanfall, while not ugly and somewhat stylized, isnt particularly impressive as it runs on the decade old Source Engine. I will give credit to Respawn where credit is due however, this is the best looking Source game that has eve been released, with this game, they have displayed that they have the potential to create graphically impressive games in the future.
    Verdict: 6/10

Sound Design: This game has an amazing score, the IMC theme being particularly impressive. The voice acting is impressive, is highly varied and does not become annoying after playing for long periods of time. Titan sound effects are varied and are great as well. The guns however, sound like BB guns, much like Call of Duty's weapons, this is extremely disappointing considering that this issue was brought up on Respawn's forums many times from the moment of Titanfall's reveal which leads me to believe the devs do not care about their fanbase.
    Verdict: 8/10

Story: Respawn has built a rich universe surrounding Titanfall, FPSs especially are known to be lackluster in term of lore which makes this all the more impressive. As well, over the past 3~ years, Multiplayer Campaigns have evolved incredibly. I am very disappointed at Titanfall's Multiplayer campaign as I had extremely high expectations of it. The story takes place across 2 1.5 hour campaigns, Narrative is conveyed through scripted events, pre-game set-pieces and dialogue between matches. Despite these being multiplayer campaigns, they are very linear and often, player actions feel worthless and failure is impossible. Not only was the story itself disappointing however, the characters also lacked, well, character. In the 3 hours of Titanfall's campaign, the player learns nothing at all about the characters and character development is nonexistent; This game being from the team which created Call of Duty 4 makes it all the more disappointing. If you buy Titanfall, play the single player campaign once for both sides, then never touch it again.
    Verdict: 3/10

Level Design: This game has the best level design I have seen in any FPS since Quake, hands down, it possibly exceeds Quake depending on who you ask. you have to play it to understand what i mean. The maps are well balanced between Titan and Pilot gameplay, my favorite maps are Nexus, Angel City, and Fracture; my least favorite maps are Rise and Lagoon.
    Verdict: 10/10

Gameplay: This is where Titanfall is at its strongest, the parkour abilities afforded to players, the titan-pilot interaction, and the gunplay are all superb. Never does a match of Titanfall feel boring ( I have played for 30 hours so far). I have never had as much fun with a modern FPS as I am having with Titanfall. Again, one must experience this to fully grasp its excellence.
    Verdict 10/10

Balance: Titanfall is highly balanced, only one weapon feels underpowered, and the rest of the weapons all fulfill their own, unique roles and no weapon outclasses the next in every situation. As they introduce more weapons into the game (they will according to their community manager), this balanced could be lost as Respawn has no experience with DLC/ Patch weaponry. Only time will tell.
    Verdict: 9/10

Content: While this game excels in what it does, what it does is very limited. This game only has 5 gamemodes, none of which are unique, and only a handful of weapons. Very disappointing to say the least. However, this game does have 15 maps at launch which is quite staggering. Decide for yourself if it has enough content for you.
    Verdict: 6/10

Polish: This game feels incredibly polished and fine-tuned. Everything just works and it has very few bugs (currently, the only known bugs relate to random frame dips on both PC and Xbox as well as minor graphical bugs) or exploits. The game was marred by some annoying server issues on launch day ,however, these issues were quickly addressed. Few games are this well polished at launch.
    8/10

Notes: This game costs $60 and thus might be too expensive for many PC gamers who like to buy games on the cheap. It is also exclusive to EA's horrible Origin service, a huge negative for some.

Closing Remarks: If you are someone who thinks that game mechanics and gameplay are more important than anything else, buy Titanfall.

    Unweighted Score: 7.5/10
    My Score: 9/10

However, it works better and has better FPS mechanics than BF and that's something that is much more important to me. I can't think of a single FPS released in the last ten years or so that was as good as this mechanics-wise and had BF amounts of content so I don't know why people were expecting that. It would be one thing if BF was a mechanically sound FPS with all of that content but it just isn't and you have to sacrifice gameplay for content which I'm glad they didn't. I've already gotten my $59.99 worth of fun out of this game. Haters gonna hate I suppose but I feel all the ratings of zero based on less content than BF are pretty unfair considering no game has as much content as BF and BF barely works anyway. Expand

This game to me is the best multiplayer fps since the Halo 2 days. It's endless fun, and there's almost never a break in the fight. You're constantly on your toes: jumping, wall running, zip-lining, hopping on enemy and friendly titans, gunning people down, drop-kicking **** and crash your titan into the battlefield to wreck some ****

Sure there's no real campaign, but they didn't advertise it as a story driven game, you know what you're buying. It's a beautifully crafted and balanced medium scale pvp fps. People saying it's just CoD with jetpacks, and parkour, and mechs, and an entirely different setting and gameplay dynamic.... well then it's not really just CoD anymore. If anything I'd say they've taken the good parts of the franchise(yes there are some) and applied it to this wonderful game. Knocking it for not being on sony consoles and being 60 dollars isn't at all a way to review the game itself. Could they have dropped it to 40-50 bucks? Sure. Will you get your moneys worth buying it for 60? Hell yeah, you could easily put 60 hours into this game in a couple weeks and much much more afterwards. You can always purchase it for less later on, it shouldn't reflect on the quality of the game though.

In conclusion, look for honest reviews on this site, avoid 10's and 0's because they're both extremes of people who are too passionate to be honest. If you're an fps fan, buy this game. 9/10. The End.

You can tell the developers at Respawn put a lot of time and effort to create a well-balanced and fun shooter game for everyone. It's definitely become of the main games that I will be playing for the next few months. I mean the game really tries to make you feel good in every way possible. For people who are not too good at FPS, they can stack up XP points by killing AI-controlled soldiers and obtaining titans in that fashion. Basically, everyone has a fair chance of doing well in the game. There's really nothing that tips the scale one way or the other. They even allow you to escape the map on an evacuation ship if you are the losing team. In a way, if you (individually) do escape, you "win" as well. Anyways, it feels really great to jump on walls and buildings and get to the other side of the map in matter of seconds while destroying giant robots along the way with some easy AI kills.

Despite all the praise about the gameplay, I have to knock off a point for not having a great campaign mode or any sort of meaningful story line. All the components are there for a great story but they totally blew it on that part. I wish they had a single-player offline story mode that at least takes you through the story about why they are in a civil war and how titans were created to begin with. Other than that, it's a great multiplayer online FPS game with tremendous potential for the future. I see this game escalating into a franchise at the level of Halo and COD.

I play it on the PC and you will not have a hard time finding people for your match. I just played Capture the Flag mode all night and it was almost always 6 v 6 every game.

I truly don't understand how so many people agree with the negative posts here. They all miss the point of Titanfall's creation in the first place. This game is fun, albeit repetitive, and it's innovative. What do you expect to innovate in an FPS? Magical death pony guns of zombie laser money cannons?
Titanfall's about as innovative as FPS games will get, and infinitely more fun than any CoD out there. I feel it defines the genre of FPS. While it is true that it doesn't have enough to be worth $60 contextually, it's worth it if you've been looking for a shooter that isn't either bad, or CoD. Or Battlefield, but don't get me started.
All in all, worthy game, extremely fun, and only going to get better as more stuff is added in (hopefully not in the season pass. That's the only major negative).
The worst part is: EVERYONE uses the same downright IDIOTIC argument: "zomg cod with mechs zomg time to go sacrifice me son to the gods of half life 2 now zomg", when that argument is wrong. Parkour fits into the game. Titans fit into the game. Does CoD have this? No. It has a terrible community, and that's all. Titanfall is unique. If anything, HAWKEN is CoD with mechs. It plays exactly like it, but you're in a box made from a kindergartener in a scrapyard. It isn't CoD with mechs. Stop being stubborn.
I find it hilarious how people continually downvote the positive threads, even if it's only a 5. Evidence, you ask? Almost EVERY rating between 3 and 0 has EXACTLY 7 opinions on it, and usually 6-7 people who agree with it. It seems like a community of basement trolls has gotten together to hate and rage. The hilarious part? Most of them have the telltale signs of a raging retard who was too bad at the game to enjoy it. A fairly obvious tone of extreme anger, PITIFUL grammar application, and extremely low credit for slight flaws. This website isn't the slightest bit creditable when you want a non-bias review. I'd rather read one from Ignorant than one of the "terminate-all-originality" idiots here. Anyways, Fanboy attack from Battlefield headquarters? Batten down the hatches, grab an Amped R-101C Carbine and let's HUNT SOME **** NUBS!

Titanfall is a great game. Possibly, one of the biggest problems for it, is that it is a very different game. Most games at least pay lip-service to a single player game. This game barely does, with a Multi-player campaign. For some reason, I see a lot of people cutting this game down for that. Single player games can forego multi-player, but for some reason, not the other way around.Titanfall is a great game. So, for the meat. This game has amazing mobility, that is extremely fluid on the PC. The game runs amazingly well. It has a great balance, and your actions seem to really matter. The game builds you, from the ground up, as a hero. From being able to run like a mad man all over the place, to farming grunts, to being able to bring down Titans. You and the other players are the heros.

The game has some issues that need fixed. It needs a much better match making system.
There are only a handful of guns. I see this as a strength and weakness. It allows for great balance, but at the cost of customization.

Most issues are fairly minor. I really do enjoy this game..

For someone that's been out of the shooter genre for years this game was an amazingly fresh, fun and addictive jump back in. Mech combat adds a ton of fun, as does the parkor and wall running. A few more game modes, customization and weapons and it'll be perfect.

Just finished playing through one side of the campaign and I had a lot of fun. The battles are very hectic in a good way and I have plenty of room for improvement. I also want to comment that I have a very poor internet connection(3G Data) and I never had any issue or felt that I was at a disadvantage as happens so often on this type of connection. Took a point away as more game modes are needed.

The game delivers what it promised, an immersive, fast paced, first person shooter. It's a fresh take on the genre with the introduction of map atmosphere, mechanized warfare, and intricate movement systems.

Definitely worth the try if you're into engaging shooters.

No, this game is different. It is hard to describe the adrenaline rush that you are experiencing before game starts. The moment when I destroyed the opponent's titan with my bare hands for the first time was like jumping into a pool filled with cocaine. Never tried cocaine, and I don't want to, but this is how I imagine the feeling. I even sang "WHO IS THE F..KING WINNER" to the melody of "Drunken Sailor". And then I got killed for the 14th time. Damn it...

When I died - because an opponent had summoned his titan to fall directly on my head; and when I had fun unlocking new achievements; and when I was gaining upgrades I needed; and when I never get lost on the maps I've never seen before; I couldn't believe that developers could manage so many elements and don't break the balance of the game. You won't experience wandering, confusion in the upgrade system or very slow reloading of the magazine. Every single death is only your fault - you either didn't have a plan how to enter the battlefield or you missjumped from one rooftop to another. Even the HUD it made in such a way that it displays everything that we need to know at exact moment without distracting us from the real battle.

This game will crush you, and it does not forgive. But it also gives you a chance to survive more than 3 seconds without a headshot just after respawning. Some might complain that there are only 6v6 battles and, since maps are not that small, while running around we can arrive somewhere where nothing happens because the main fight is a bit farther. But such empty places are the only moments when we can stop and think about our next move - the rate of exchanging fire in the center of the field rarely gives us time for it.

And you have to think - this is not a single player game. The most important fact is that owning a Titan doesn't give you a clear advantage. Of course Mechs are more resistant and can smash the infantry with one stomp while firing a salve of missiles but the 'ants' are not defenseless.

Pilots not only have 'go-away-titan' weapons, but thanks to their mobility, can take advantage of a moment of distraction and jump onto the back of the battlemachine and eliminate it from the fight with a precise shot in the cables. Despite the physical advantage over the pilots, both "forms of life" are well balanced. This is not a choice between a better or worse chance of gaining new frags, but between two completely different ways of playing. In short - but not precisely - the player chooses between strength and firepower of a Titan, and the flexibility and mobility of a Pilot.

The choice isn't easy. The mobility is crucial to have a chance on the battlefield. When you play as a pilot you will discover that you have to learn a completely new way of moving around the map. This game is closer to Ricoshet from Valve than to BF or CoD. Jet belts gives you the possibility to double jump and to do amazing parkour tricks. The maps are so well-designed that there is always a wall to run on and surprise an enemy by jumping from above him. And even if you are on a certain map for the first time you will never feel lost.

You can feel that this game was designed for hardcore gamers, but - the "true gamers" now have to take deep breath - it doesn't smash newbies just because they had the courage to buy it and login. But don't get to excited, newbies - you will be smashed. But you will receive a few seconds of life more than when you first logged to CoD. Firstly - the aforementioned empty spots on maps. Secondly - disposable upgrade cards that will hide your weakness at the beginning.

The only reason why this game won't receive the highest note are the game modes. After all those new gameplays and tactics, Respawn Entertainment gives us old-fashioned Domination and Capture the Flag. It pains me that they didn't prepare at least one original game mode. Probably the game is supposed to become the new e-sport icon like it is CS 1.6, and that's why they didn't want to rewrite all rules from scratch but the bad aftertaste remains. And releasing new game modes as paid DLCs may discourage some players. Fortunately there are sites like kinguin.net where you can buy it cheaper than on Origin.
Now, if you'll forgive me, I'm going to send some Titans to the scrapyard.

Another touch I quite like are the evacuations, adds a last minute rush to the exist/stop the escapees that's different.

Also this game worked on launch day, I have had zero issues. Now this should be the norm but if we look at the last few years of AAA launches

Overall probably an 8, but I'm giving it an extra mark for working first time, all the time and being loads of fun.

Sure, it's a console port : textures range from okay to downright mediocre. At least, on my decent-but-by-no-means-anywhere-near-high-end rig, the framerate never drops, even in explosion-heavy dogfights, and frankly, for a FPS, that's all I'm really asking for.

But when that's out of the way, it's Section 8 (a very nice futuristic shooter from a couple years ago) but with a budget. It's nervous, action packed, and the dual scale Pilot-Titan is surprisingly well-handled. What I mean is that I expected everyone to rush to their Titan all the time, but it ends up being very fun playing as a pilot as well. Titans are much more fragile than they appear, and well coordinated pilots can be as destructive to them as other Titans.

The mobility takes some time to get used to but it ends up reinforcing the overall feeling of speed.

Most of the weapons are unlocked pretty fast, and even if some higher-level upgrades undeniably provide an edge to assiduous players, I got the feeling that skill, coordination, map-reading and tactical sense remained the main factors in victory.

Overall, a very fun game which is getting trashed for its price and its DLC politics, which is alas legitimate.

Titanfall is simply great however it is not revolutionary. It mixes the fast paced, low recoil gunplay of cod with parkour and mechs. It may seem like just cod with mechs but it is much more advanced than that.

Titanfall is a diffrent kind of fps. It feels sortof like a moba. There's early game, mid-game and late game. There are minions. There are diffrent lanes which have their own advantages. You have to kill minions and other players to shave your time off so you can get your titan early. Since titans can't jump you have to make use of diffrent pathways to your advantage.

So let me explain how titanfall works.
In early game you have to rush to the battlefield and kill the early wave of creeps so you can get your titan.
Once you get your titan the mid-game starts and you have to use your titan against other titans and players once a team bested another the end game starts. The losing team have to escape to the dropshop while the winning team has to hunt the players down.(you don't respawn in late game)

This structure makes it diffrent than any other fps because it changes as the game goes on. And knowing the maps can help you a lot.

Yes the maps... Titanfall has some of the best map design in recent memory. Maps are designed so that you have many parkour opportunities, Titans have diffrent paths which give them flanking opportunities. And there are some indoor sections for some cqc.

Let me talk about the titans, once your titan timer hits zero you can mark a location and your titan will drop in 5 seconds. It feels extremely smooth jumping to a titan. They have a very bulky feeling when it comes to movement. But they can dash to avoid incoming projectiles and other things. They are equipped with a primary weapon as well as an ordanence which is usually a missile. They have a shield as well as a health bar. The shield will absorb about 90% of the damage and will regenerate over time, the health bar will not regenerate. Once your health reaches zero, your titan will be "doomed". In which you have to eject.

Once you eject it will throw you up into the air. In which you can plan what you are going to do. One of the things you can do is to try and attemp to rodeo another titan. In which you will jump onto its right shoulder and you can shoot inside of it ignoring shields. The pilot inside can disembark and try to kill you manually or if he has it activate electric smoke. In which will kill you if you enter it.

Electric smoke is a tactical ability. Both titans and pilots have a tactical ability. Which they can use to their advantage. Pilots have things like cloak and titans have things like "bullet magnet that you can use to send bullet back to your enemy kinda thing (vortex shield)". It adds a little bit more strategy to the gameplay.

Let's talk about weapons. There aren't many weapons in titanfall however they all feel very diffrent and focused. Having small number of weapons which I use every once in a while is much better than a gazillion of recolored guns. But I would agree that there is a lack of unique weapons. There is only the smart pistol that is worth noting. Which was classified as a "newb" weapon at launch. Because it locked onto enemies and got headshots. It is practicly an aimbot. However it is a very fair aimbot. It is very useful for farming minions if you want to get your titan early. However it takes a little bit of time to lock and this time is much longer on pilots. And on pilots it's going to take multiple headshots. So if your enemy has noticed you you will die by their assault rifle or shotgun before you can even get a lock.

As everybody knows titanfall is 6v6. When annaunced everybody was like "lame". And said that it will be boring. This design choice is more of a "how cs is 5v5" kind of thing. The game and the maps are balanced for 6v6. The maps are bf4 kind of large but they don't feel empty. Because of minions there's plenty of things for you to shoot at. If you feel that you should fight with pilots and titans more than the maps will fall apart.
There will be too many titans so pilotss will be ineffective and there will be too many titans and the map will be just overfilled.

Many of you've heard that Titanfall will contain story elements in its multiplayer. The translation of that is you start being deployed from an airship, there's much more audial feedback and you have to escape in the end.
It's actually quite good as just being placed and seeing a countdown feels stupid and awkard.

    But then it falls apart...

Titanfall has a campaign mod which is simply classic multiplayer with burnt caramel chocolate on it. (word limit sorry). The performance is overally good. The game is about pace than performing the best. And curse metacritic for putting a 5000 character limit. I wrote this long to show you the game isn't just cod with guns and doesnt get boring after 5 hours.

Next off, the mechanics. Wall-running, double-jumping, titan-riding and Spectre-hacking all put their own spins on the gameplay and make it differentiate from the common "CoD with mechs" stereotype of onlookers.

Balance. Whether you are in a Titan or running as a Pilot, you stand an equal chance in battle. Everything balances each other out so you don't feel like there's cheap deaths. Subtle, but fantastic.

Now, the cons. Honestly, I only have a few.

The price. While I got this game 20% off in an Origin Spring Sale, I still think $60 is a bit steep. Go deal-hunting for Titanfall instead of paying full price.

Two minor things: I wish there was the ability to vote on maps and rename custom Titan and Pilot loadouts. One of the biggest gripes I see has been resolved: there's private matches now!

Titanfall is great. Each time you play, you're presented with fresh and diverse challenges and you'll have an awesome story to tell from each and every match. Pick it up, and enjoy.

Match making needs a little tweaking, as team stacking seems to be an issue. However with the simplicity of the game interface, joining another game is simple and fast.

The game play itself is brilliant the two play styles either on foot as a pilot with parkour mechanics allowing you to get all over the map is one, the other is as the Titans. Both are very well done, they are very well balanced and both are always a threat to each other as the extremely well designed maps and excellent choice of equipment balance out the needs and uses of both. The controls for both are easy to learn and are very precise allowing for you to do what you need to do when you need to do it with no clunkiness at all.
The multiplayer campaign is simply there to tick a box and appease all the whiners who can't accept a game focussing on doing a few things really well, play this through so that you can unlock the other two titans and have all three available for the multiplayer matches-THE REASON THIS GAME EXISTS and the only reason you should buy it.
As of now there are Attrition, Last Titan standing and Hardpoint. All are 6V6, which was a non-issue for me prior to release and in the actual game is just fine and a complete non-issue there, this is not and was never meant to be Battlefield with mechs. You are an important part of your team and you need to pull your weight if you want your team to win.
Attrition is your standard DeathMatch and is the most fun, with unlimited respawns and no fixed location objectives you have the most freedom, figure out loadouts and playstyles that suit you. There is plenty of variety in this.
Last Titan standing is the most tense and thrilling, you start in a Titan and you have one life. So play smartly, conservatively and work with your team and cover each others backs to get the most out of this. In a 6V6 game you need to work togethor! Being outnumbered is a situation that can come up quickly if you don't and you will need to reset the balance to win.
Hardpoint can be brutal you will have to fight hard to take and hold the three points on the map and you will need to have a plan for your loadout and play style in order to do the best you can as you will be spread thin trying to take and hold the objectives.
There are many different ways of playing: want to be a sniper, head on infantryman, human Titan hunter or stealthy gunner? You can do it! Want to control a head-on tough, relentless damage dealing walking tank, good all rounder or fast and agile harasser as a Titan? You can do it! There are plenty of options allowing you to play how you want and they are all exceptionally well-balanced. You can even go nuclear! Creating a massive explosion right in the middle of a group of enemies, enjoy the view from way above the battlefield as you eject and fall back down on to the back of an enemy Titan and riddle its weak points with bullets!
GRAPHICS: There are better looking games, but Titanfall still looks very good and the detail is there. It has some good effects, a good amount of options and 4K support incoming. It does seem to be capped at 60FPS, but this has been great for me anyway, i have a GTX780 and i am not dissapointed at all.
CONTROLLER SUPPORT:The controller support for the Xbox 360 controller is perfect. It can be used to control the entire experience as soon as the game starts up and you can seamlessly switch between it and a M&KB. It is worth me noting that the accuracy is incredibly well calibrated and in my entire time playing i have only used the controller and have never felt at a disadvantage fighting against the M&KB players that make up the most of PC gamers. Unfortunately you cannot fully customise the controller layout (WHY IS THIS TOO MUCH FOR DEVELOPERS?), but the preset ones are very good and the bumper-jumper is perfect for me anyway. I would recommend it for this type of game
MAPS: There are 15 distinctively different, exceptionally well designed maps. This is the first game where i don't have a favourite map, i like all of them. I never have any concern over which random map the game loads up. They are all fun to play on and they all allow for that essential balance between Titans and Pilots.

    *Private servers are available
*There is a training mode to practice the mechanics and familiarize yourself with playing as both a Titan and On-foot Pilot, it won't take long. Also play through the campaign first as this will not be dominated by more experienced players, so you can get to grips with the game.

    A response to complaints:
    * "It's online only" DON'T BUY IT THEN!
    * "It has no single player, i want some single player!" DON'T BUY IT THEN! This was made very clear long before it was released, don't like it don't buy it!
    * "The A.I. sucks" They are there to be an easy target for newcomers so that they can get into the game and try there best to pull their weight in a small team. They are also there to add to the atmosphere of the battlefield, they are constantly dropping onto and spreading over the battlefield making you feel part of a much more epic conflict, especially when they complement you on how awesome Pilots are and how terrifying Titans can be.
*"It's a 50GB download!" This information was also available before it's release, yes it is annoying for those of us with more powerful machines,as the uncompressed audio is there for the sake of people with dual-core processors, but at least it lowers the minimum specs allowing for a bigger player base, which we all benefit from in a MULTIPLAYER ONLY game. As for those of you using SSD's it is not going to make much difference in a game like this, how long it takes to get into the game depends upon the servers not your storage. If i'm wrong explain and prove to me why and i will edit accordingly.
*"There's no destructible terrain!" This would break the balance between on-foot pilots and Titans, whilst the pilots can take the ideal equipment to take on Titans the environment is essential. A pilot in the open can easily be killed by a Titan and is forgoing there advantage of being able to access any part of the terrain. Maybe it will be effectively implemented in a sequel.

I absolutely love this game. I have BF4 and COD: Ghosts, but this game is nothing like those games, and personally I think TitanFall is even better than BF4. Let me state some reasons why I think this game is the best multiplayer FPS you can play right now.

I absolutely love this game. I have BF4 and COD: Ghosts, but this game is nothing like those games, and personally I think TitanFall is even better than BF4. Let me state some reasons why I think this game is the best multiplayer FPS you can play right now.

-Graphics are refreshingly bright and slightly cartoonish, I personally LOVE the graphics on this game even though they aren't photo-realistic they are just eye pleasing. It doesn't look as realistic and isn't as complicated graphically as BF4, but I prefer TitanFalls graphics. It's also a SILKY smooth game when played at 60 or 120FPS, as you can tell the engine was made for the smoothest gameplay, unlike BF4 or even the new COD: Ghosts. It's refreshing to have a dev chose smoothness, reaction times, and bright colorful graphics, over photo-realistic lighting and textures.

-It takes you a good amount of time to die. Being that the devs of TitanFall used to be COD, I thought it would be more like COD in that you would die after only a couple shots to the chest. But that's not the case at all. You'll find that you can get away after being shot by jumping and wall-running away. And the gunplay feels incredibly smooth and satisfying, even more so than BF4 or COD. Although gunplay doesn't feel as real as BF4, I don't really care about real.

-If you SUCK at multiplayer FPS games, you actually have a chance to be pretty good at this game. This game has more strategy to it than BF4 or COD, and while playing in a Titan, you don't have to have twitch reactions. And even if you play as a Pilot, you can use the Auto-Pistol, which locks on after about 2 seconds. The pistol isn't nearly as effective as an assault rifle, but if you can't aim, this Auto-Pistol REALLY helps, especially if you jump and move around while it's locking on. Plus there's plenty of Bots to kill on the battlefield besides the real players, which can make below average players feel like they're dominating.

    Negatives

-The matches are a bit short. They seem to last only about 5 minutes per match. Normally by the second time I get my Titan the games already ending. Of course I'm speaking only of the Attrition mode as that's all I've played so far and I'm on level 32.

-Another negative is that battles are only 6v6, making it sometimes difficult to find enemy Pilots to kill. I don't get satisfaction from killing bots. I wish they had a 12v12 or at least 8v8 mode with no bots, and you only got your Titan once per match. I also wish they had a Team Death Match mode where the first team to 50 kills wins.

So overall this game is a 10/10. I don't see how someone can rate this game less than an 8 unless you just HATE FPS games. Because as far as FPS games go, this is the top of the line right now. BF4 is awesome, and has A LOT more guns and customization options, has bigger maps and more players on the maps, but TitanFall's gunplay is more fun and TitanFall takes a little bit more strategy other than just being quick with a mouse. And I like TitanFalls graphics better although BF4 is technically superior. COD: Ghosts just sucks all around.

For a lot of reasons most people on here that write reviews are nothing but bandwagon people, going onto someone's profile they gave every game in recent time a 0/10 on purpose with only a few words saying why it's bad
I normally would not believe any reviews that either have a 10-9 and a 2-0 mainly because the people that write them don't say anything really as to why it is bad. Some guy

Anyways back to the game. Titanfall is a great fun game. In recent memory I have not had soo much fun playing this game as I have with other games, the thrill of being able to run around the map with parkour/Spider-Man skills as well as having a personal jet pack to help you double jump around the place. Now firstly this game does have a single player but it is done through the multiplayer with it being a normal multiplayer match with a few voice overs here and there. No I'm gonna hear people say "omg no single player 0/10" or something along those lines. But in a matter of fact it's us gamers fault. Respawn entertainment did research and found less then 15% of people actually complete the single player in games like Cod and battlefield, so why waste the resources if not many people will play it. But no people don't go and do there research and then complain because of it being their fault. The single player has a few nice map selections but I finished it for the Mechs that you unlock.
However the multiplayer in this game is fantastic. It's easy to pick up but hard to master. Which is why so many people enjoy it.

The maps are about the size of a small battlefield map which is great and they are all bigger then any Cod map and they are all unique and different. Another good feature is the inclusion of zip lines. It is quite fun being able to have an almost whole map with nothing but those as you can literally keep on the zip line forever and it's not slow or anything, you can get off any time you want and even hook to another one Bioshock infinite style. The parkour is also great with you being able to go really high, but not as high as BF4, shame water is an instant kill for us pilots though

Now I could go on forever about what I like but I'll keep that for the pro section, there are a few negatives to this wonderful game though
One of them is the lack of game modes, there are about 5 game modes in total that while fun lack any real objective. An example is you have great modes like CTF and last Titan standing plus domination, but that is it, the other two are tdm. More objective modes are needed to make the game last longer,
My other damm is the monsters, while I know that they should not take the show of the game, some more interaction would be great, I hear that in the dlc they will have more fauna and flora which is great, as they have a map all about dragons but the dragons never attack you and another one has dinosaurs that never step on you.
That's it really for my negatives one point though is that the game is 50gb but not all of it is uncompressed audio, they found a way to make the game run well on low end systems and this is shown through the 50gb download
In conclusion I could go on forever about why this game is great and where it is not great, but as it stands it is very fun and I've had some of the most fun in this game then any other for quite some time
    Pros
    - Titans are fast and fluid and great fun
    - parkour and zip lines are ace
    - the maps are bigger then all Cod maps and all feel unique and different
    - all the titans feel different and unique
    - easy to pick up, hard to master
    - Grunts may be weak and stupid but are awesome
    - Game is just generally very fun
    Cons
    - single player is a little short
    - I wish for more monster interaction
    - hurry up private matches
    - lack of game modes
    - lack of content
    Score 8.5/10
    Playtime so far 8 hours

BF4 was around $70 on release and was the highest sold game on Origin. Titan Fall is fun. It's really fun. Sure it may combine a lot of other games together. But isn't that what gamers love. I am die hard PS gamer but have good PC, too. I wish this game was on PS also but that is why I got a PC tired of the console wars. Regardless of what console it is on it is amazing.

It's not perfect, but to say it's not worth the price represents a poor investment in one's purchase. The more I play, the more I love it, and the more I want to continue playing. This game is refreshing, that's the best way to put it. It has aspects of Call of Duty, Halo, Counter-Strike, and Tribes... it's still early(content wise), but it's an amazing change in the FPS genre.

The story is non-existing(who plays a FPS for the story?).. but the genre is a nice modern/sci-fi setting, which really bring out the best in the modern war shooter as well as hitting the science fiction aspect with the Titanfall's.

The mechanics of every building being scalable(sp?) is one of the greatest addition to FPS mechanics in a very long time. After letting my roommate play, I watched and realized that habit(for everyone playing) is to stay on the ground like traditional FPS, but as you start to take advantage of the ability to climb any building, it gives a serious Tribes feel... the entire map is your playground.

People have complained about the repetitive nature.... Have you played ANY other FPS? Every FPS I have ever played.. ever.

The game is repetitive yes, but no different than any other FPS out there. Hop in a lobby, play a map you've played before, kill people. Titanfall is neither a positive or negative in this aspect... it's done nothing in my opinion to differentiate from the repetitive nature of other shooters, but it isn't any different than COD or Halo in this aspect.

Ultimately, the game is a fast pace shooter(fastest COD out there imo)... it has different game mechanics which make it unique(scaling any building, the Titanfalls themselves).

The game is not for everyone, but here's the type that I think will and will not enjoy it:

    Will:
Call of Duty players(Not the die-hards that live, eat, and breath anything that Activision throws at them, you'll never win the fan boys)
Counter-Strike players- As a former CS player that has played several other shooters but hasn't really been hooked on any of them), this is the closest I've come to that hooked feeling. True fast paced, shoot and kill gameplay.

    Won't:
Battlefield players- While I enjoy the BF series, it's a strategic shooter that has an emphasis on teamplay, this game is a run and gun where you can have success with or without your team.
COD Fanboys- There are people that feel like enjoying this game is a slight against COD in some way and it's amusing but ridiculous.

So I give it a 9 out of 10. If you enjoy fast paced shooters, you'll love this. Plain an simple. It's a return to the twitch based shooter. It's definitely the most fun I've had playing an FPS in recent memory.

I give it an 9/10 - It's fun, well balanced, and you can easily loose dozens of hours. However it's overpriced with only 5 game types and no single player. You'll have a blast for a dozen hours or so, then the repetitive nature will keep this is a "side game" for you to play while you enjoy other stuff releasing this year.

Also as a side note, I gave this game an 8/10 for XB1 because of the weaker graphics and $60 subscription fee on consoles. I recommend buying this game for PC because the requirements needed on a PC are quite low, and even an old PC can handle this fine. If your PC is old, I'd look at upgrading your graphics card for $150 over the $60 a year subscription fee on XB consoles.

    Cons

Matchmaking requires a lot more work to prevent stacked teams

I think the game's greatest strength is the ability to start up a game, sit down, and get involved in some FPS gameplay with mechs, along with the insanity that goes along with it such as wildlife eating soldiers, dropships zipping through the air, etc. If the game has a weakness, the weakness lies with the matchmaking system.

I can't really deduct points over not including a single player mode, only because the game wasn't advertised as such. Everything the game said it would deliver has been delivered so far, or so I believe. If you want a competitive FPS multiplayer game with a bit of a spin, go for it.

I was waiting for a game that would blow me away and break the oligopoly of Battlefield and Call of Duty. Here it is. Titanfall shows that online shooting does not have to be confined to contemporary battlegrounds. [05/2014, p.42]

In the mind-boggling question that tortures world's biggest gaming studios (how to refresh the competitive FPS genreĀ), Respawn answers by taking the Call of Duty core, enhancing it with elements from various sources and franchises (Mech games, Crysis , Tribes, Mirror's Edge etc.) and forging it in the Old School mold (Quake/Unreal Tournament) . Titanfall does not innovate. It manages, however, to leave a fresh taste by balancing nicely all components of its gameplay.

Titanfall is a highly entertaining online shooter, but it's a bit light on content for a full priced game. You quickly start to realize that Titanfall could desperately use more maps, more unlockables, more upgrades and more customization. [Apr 2014]
