Manly tears were shed when I experienced my first Titanfall.

The graphics are enough. Not amazing, not totally bad. People are spoiled these days and expect real life graphics in every game they lay their hands to. Technology is advancing, and some day photo realistic graphics are a standard and everyone can actually focus on the most important aspect: Game play. Which is amazing in Titanfall.

Honestly some of the most fun I've had in a FPS in a long time. If you have the hardware to max out everything (Intel i5-4670 and GTX 770 here) it is a very beautiful game as well when running at 1920x1080 60FPS.

I understand some of the complaints about lack of content for a single player mode, but most games like this basically are moving down this path. The single player with incredibly generic plot and reused ideas in the newest BF and CoD obviously show how unimportant they were.

There was a weird bug where the mouse twitched during the tutorial at times, but once I got into gameplay it was fine.

    Fun . Fast . Chaotic .

6v6 may sound really small this day and age but they have incorporated bots into the way the game works. Your a pilot and can spawn a Titan overtime. 6 or more titans running around is insane. You don't need 32 of them . I see more action on screen then I do running around in battlefield sometimes. Your pilot when not in a Titan allows some really cool

Your pilot when not in a Titan allows some really cool maneuvers kinda like free running / matrix . You can also go invisible . Now if u see a Titan you can jump on it's back and rip its parts out and shoot it internally . So their not op tanks like bf for example.

Yes it may have features from cod / bf but it feels like its own game. I have played many hours of cs / cod / bf and it does feel fresh. This game has the competitive feel to it and may put casual players off. Prepare for ownage if you don't learn quickly.

Now it's servers are Asia pacific for Aussies 140 ping . Yet no lag is present or noticeable to ruin gameplay. I didn't even no till I saw the Ping meter .

And to clear things up the so called SP is really the MP it's kinda intertwined. To give a great online experience developers kinda have to .

the fastest game i have ever played. yes it is alot like CoD but its still really different. its extremely fast pace, and i was blown away playing it, i never got bored of it. you would think that titans would be over powered but not, the are actually really easy to take down. i think them not having to worry about campaign helped them perfect the multiplayer, deffinetley pick it up. 9,.5/10

The last time I enjoyed a first person shooter as much as Titanfall was years ago. Not since Unreal Tournament 2004 have I played a FPS that really grabs me and makes me want to drop everything I'm doing and just head straight to gaming.

The core gameplay in Titanfall is fantastic. The parkour is extremely fun and the game is very quick. It's extremely satisfying to run and jump around all the maps and a great change of pace to the common console shooter that has really slowed down FPS gameplay since the days of popular arena shooters on PC. The mechanic of titans themselves provide a great change of pace to add some weight and diversity to the combat.

The maps themselves are fantastic. I'm a fan of all of them but one, with some varied environments among all of them. The visuals are nothing amazing, but the gameplay is solid and the framerate remains mostly stable outside of some issues entering Titans.

It's unfortunate that there's no single player campaign for players to get into in Titanfall, but Respawn knows what they're good at and made the game they wanted to and knew they could.

Finally, when we've had so many excruciatingly poor online launches of 'always-online' games in recent history, Titanfall launched without issue. I was playing prior to launch, and then as the game went live in the US I could continue to play. I haven't seen an online launch this smooth in a long time. Microsoft's Azure servers are clearly handling the pressure that Titanfall is applying to them.

If you enjoy multiplayer games due to their gameplay, you should absolutely pick this up.

PS: if you buy the game just to complain that it has no campaign, you are dumb. Its been stated that it would not have that feature, that it was a multiplayer game. I really don't see the point of complaining over and over about that.

The smart pistol, is not that smart, in needs to lock the target three times before you can kill it, so you will be needing experience and skill to play with it so as the other weapons. Nothing that a patch can't handle. Campaign is basically a multiplayer game with some cinematics but I didn't expected more from it. I dare to say it was "good" in fact. I was kind of disappointed to low variety of choices. It kinda makes you to choose a style and stick to it. I could've give it a 10/10 but that score means it is perfect. There should be no flaws. Is there any flaws? Kind of. 60€ tag was unbelievable. One thing that really got me is campaign always go forward on a standard story no matter who won the match. Campaign should be varied depending on the winner. That would've been nice. Inability to switch teams are also annoying. IE: I was picked for Militia too many times. I wanted to play as IMC but it wasn't allowed me to do so. Lack of Private servers is an issue but it will be addressedsoon. DLC? Well. It is EA after all. Respawn made terrific job and I can see the art of the guys who made COD there. I can say that them leaving the Infinity Ward brought us this game and thank God for that. Expand

This is an excellent that does change the rules of engagement in FPS. FOrghet about parkour and mechs, Titanfall is worth it's bucks and days of gaming just for the sheer intensity of the conflict and the way all the elements of the game have been equilibrated with a rare mastery.

    Saludos! c: lml

    - Fast-paced game-play which involves some fast tactical thinking
    - Level-up system to unlock weapons, mods, customisation
    - Good mix of standard FPS and vehicular combat
    - Use of AI amongst Multiplayer means more kills and more fun
    - Graphics look good and will run on lower spec machines
    - Good intro/training to introduce you to the game
    - Play the style that suits you
    - No annoying in-game chat like 'noob this' and 'your mother that'
Installed, no problem. Played, no problem. This was a great start, so many games these days have problems with hardware, software, contacting key servers, and are generally such a stressful experience just to start playing a game that I have almost given up on PC gaming altogether. So, for me, this smooth introduction and game stability was a great bonus - no time wasted searching online for answers on how to actually get the game working. If only more game experiences were like that.

This game has immediately become my number one, it's a blast.

Better than BF4? Well, it's playable, so yes.
Better then CS:GO? Well, there's no annoying players bossing you around, calling you a 'noob', or generally being annoying.
Better than COD? Haha, that's a joke, almost everything is better than COD.

Of the mainstream FPS' out there at the moment I would have to say this is my favourite, and the shear smoothness and stability of the game-play has been a big plus for me. In the last couple of years gaming has turned into a nightmare of trying to get games to work rather than playing them - this brought back simple fun and joy to gaming, and for that, I cannot find a fault.

    -Good

Visually, and audibly, the game shines. there's so many sounds and vocal calls going on that are influenced by what's around you.The graphics are fantastic, and run extremely smooth in even the most congested of fighting spaces.

I enjoyed the intro/outro cinematics of the campaign greatly and wish they were just built into all the maps and gameplay modes. My only real gripe is the lack of more cinematics in the regular gameplay modes.

The Weapons are (for the most part) balanced with one or two exceptions.

Pilot loadouts allow you to change your gameplay style with many variations.

The titan's the aesthetic doesn't grab me strongly, but they feel real in that everything on them has an apparent reason for being there besides "Looking cool" Their animations make them feel heavy, yet fast and deadly when needed. The loadouts available for the various titans can drastically change the way you play.

The new game-play mechanic of the drop-ship escape when you lose is fun, and psychologically, doesn't make a complete beat-down feel that bad.

    -The Mediocre

The level design allows for all game-play modes to be played on every map, but you can tell that certain maps had certain gameplay modes in mind when they were designed making playing them in other modes “awkward”
The layouts of the indivdual maps have a great "Flow" to them to allow for multiple routes and circuits to and from specific areas and around the map, but there each map has an area which is "awkward" to get to and doesn't serve an intended role in any gameplay type.

The game feels like it was rushed out about 6 months too early and that large and grandiose elements of the original game design were cut for time constraints and console compromises.

GAME MODES are old and tired. I'd like to see different game modes that I haven't seen 20 years ago. Adding in an assault mode like Unreal Tournament 2004 or even looking at MMO's such as World of Warcraft, or even Defense of the Ancients/League of Legends shows many other gameplay types that would work extremely well in the FPS genre.

The generation/leveling up concept is okay, but there's no real benefit to hopping a generation except for reaching the next generation faster. I would have liked to see something in-game available exclusive to generations, such as more burn-card space or a specific ordinance unlocked. Oh, and the 50 goose kills for Generation 6 is god-aweful, but rumour has it they're going to nerf/change that requirement.

Only 1 rider/rodeo per titan makes sense from a gameplay standpoint, but it is difficult to tell when a friendly is rodeoing an enemy titan in the heat of battle.

Player/NPC names are occasionally not displayed, making for annoyance when you start shooting your own grunts/players by mistake.

    -The Bad

Matchmaking SUCKS. There have been countless times where I've sat in the lobby for 10 or 15 minutes and watch my side fill up, and the other side remain empty. Even back in 1999 FPS games got team based matchmaking right with quickly balanced teams, instead of the (very frequent) lopsided matches of 4v6 or (as my experience as an utter newb in the game) being a Generation 1, level 10 facing Genereation 3+ and nothing but level 40+ There needs to be a way to “bracket” matches based on level and/or generations. Take a look at how Guild Wars and World of Warcraft allow you to “shuffle” between game modes while waiting so that you can quickly get into an available game.

Wonky Titan physics/mechanics crop up at least once a game: There have been several times where I jump onto a titan to rodeo it from above and I fall through the model and it registers as being stepped on. dropping a titan right in front of me, or so I thought, and it turns out the game dropped it on the opposite side of the map, about 300m away. If you're riding/rodeoing a titan, and accidentally jump off and off a cliff (it happens occasionally), the pilot who damaged you last (even if it was minutes ago) gets credit for your death.

Getting on the jump ship is BUGGY. If you drop onto the jump ship from above you fall straight through to the ground. Also somewhat related, you cannot jump onto NPC planes that are zooming around maps despite the occasion where it looks to be in the perfect position to parkour off of.

    Misc

Map damage is something that feels like it should have been in the game, but probably cut to make it playable on consoles.

Overall, a great game, but still falling greatly short of it's potential and original grandiose concept.

The only reason I declined to give this game a 10/10 would be the simple lack of content. After progressing 40 levels, I've found the same 15 maps and limited loadouts have begun to feel repetitive. The game runs silky smoth, the servers (after the typical launch day hiccup that was fixed within an hour) are running very well, and it is an absolute blast to play. This is the most fun I have had playing an FPS in a good 5 years. One of the best things is that anyone can play this game. Its easy to get into and is extremely rewarding. The more time you put into it the better you will get at it. Its a shame to see so many reviews on here by people who have obviously not played the game, or are just on the "hate it because its cool" bandwagon., but hey its Metacritic what do you expect. I hope you take the time to sit down and decide if this game is worth your time and decide your own opinion, as you will not be disappointed. This is an FPS fans dream come true. Expand

Best FPS since MW2. Great balance, great gameplay, great evolution of the genre. This is the next step in the FPS genre and Respawn nails it almost flawlessly. Are there minor annoyances...of course there are. But the core gameplay is fresh and different with the familiarity of traditional shooters.

If you like multiplayer FPS this is your bad boy, hop on the train and don't look back.

I ran it and got a rare treat from multiplayer games. I don't like multiplayer game (played only in Diablo 3), play a little. I am going to have this game desperately lot of my time.

The parkour aspect of the game is the best thing in FPS gaming in a very long time. There is double jumping, wall running, and wall jumping. As soon as you get into that titan, you feel like a god. This is also the most balanced FPS game ive seen in a while. Its not like cod, because even if you have a bad weapon, the Parkour lets you get up close to surprise the enemy. As i stated earlier, the titans are very good, but if you know what you are doing, you can take them down pretty fast. You have a Primary, which is self explanatory, a secondary, which is also self explanatory, and a third weapon type, called an Anti-Titan weapon. These do extra damage to titans. As well as this, you can jump up onto the back of a titan and literally shoot its brains out, and the titan cannot shoot back. Although, if the titan has a smart pilot, they can get out of the titan, shoot you off, and get back in. Also, the requirements are relatively very small, which is always a nice bonus. There are many more good things about this game, although i will let you find out. The bad things are not really worth mentioning, as they are very small. There was a bug, at least for me. My gun was invisible, and my arms were glitched out and stretching everywhere and covering my screen. I could not see, and even when i got to and angle where i could, i couldn't shoot because my gun was gone. FIX: Go to your NVIDIA Control Panel, and switch it from automatically changing from integrated card and Graphics card to ONLY use the nvidia graphics card. This fixed the bug for me. Expand

It's been a while since I really enjoyed a FPS, the genre has gotten very stale for me. Battlefield sticks you in a giant box where you run around the entire match looking for some action, then get sniped or blown up by a tank. Halo: CE was pretty great, but the sequels have about beaten the concept to death. Enter Titanfall, I love this damn game. I may get bored of it one day, but the base mechanics are brilliant. The shooting is great, the parkour style movement and freedom beats that of any other shooter I've played. Need I even mention the titans? They are great too. Going from a mobile pilot on foot to a rampaging titan is a seamless transition, it's a ton of fun to play either way. The weapons and titans are well balanced, despite what some of my friends think I didn't find any particular weapon or ability to be "over powered". Titanfall has a few issues but most of them will be easily remedied by DLC. The campaign is underwhelming, the only real reason to do it is to unlock the alternate titan chassis. It's just a series of Team Deathmatch and Hardpoint matches with some NPC chatter and a few gee whiz moments thrown in. The game modes are also a bit bare bones, you'll soon have played every game type and every map several times over. Additionally there is no private match capability, the only way to play with your friends in on the same team, but I've had plenty of fun playing this way. The base game is just so good my complaints are non-issues by comparison. This is a great FPS, I look forward to future DLC. Expand

On highest settings this game is glorious to look at and the sound is superb. When you're in a titan it feels like you're piloting a mech, and when you're on the ground you feel like a badass ninja super-pilot.

Visuals: The game is pretty but in such a fast paced game the visuals are pretty secondary unless you are only paying attention to the explosions and titans running around. It is nice to have some awesome scenery but with all of the action you're better off glancing at it only when coming from the dropship.

Sound: The game is pretty epic about this. Every weapon sounds amazing and hearing a titan's footsteps as it is drawing closer to you is pretty intense. Also hearing the footsteps of other pilots as they are chasing you or moving across the map is pretty epic.

Gameplay: The meat and bones of the game. I have to say the combat can become pretty intense. When you finally get to call out your titan and you're currently on another titan's back it can be a pretty gratifying feeling to call yours down on theirs and jump off at the same time. Having a 1v1 with another pilot can also be very scary as you both are jumping around trying not to get shot or coming up from behind for the execution animation. The fact that the game includes elements of parkour makes the game even better. It is quite enjoyable to wall run around and not spend 5 minutes just trying to catch up to your buddies.

As many have said about the matchmaking, it needs to be revamped but if you can look past it it's a very fun game.

I didn't think I'd like the game at first but after playing it for a few days now I've already regenerated and i'm still finding the fast paced combat quite enjoyable and have yet to not feel on edge when running around.

It is true that the game takes up 50gb and that while being pretty enough it is not a visual miracle.

It's also true that the AI of the killable NPCs is terrible but this is on purpose so that they provide a function of being easily killable (giving much fewer points to the killer than killing another player or titan) and so that they populate the battlefield - this not only positively changes the feel of the game, it also makes the game available to new playstyles and makes it more accessible to new players who won't feel so left out, while not being able to make as many points as seasoned players.

There is an auto-aim pistol but it is more or less useless in fighting against other players and is primarily used against NPCs. This is a feasible tactic for any player but once again makes the game more fun for people who can't yet compete with the quick aim of a COD marksman.

The campaign is terrible and as far as I am concerned it is the only thing about the game that truly disappoints - every criticism written here I can happily agree with. Luckily the standard multiplayer modes are so much fun and the map count is large enough to make the campaign unnecessary. Given the amount of content I think that it's childish to be upset about the lack of a single-player campaign.

Apart from the multiplayer campaign the only other valid criticisms are with the inability to play private matches and as of yet no anti-cheat measures. Respawn promises to fix both soon.

The parkour movement and the addition of the titans make this game for me. It takes a while to get good at the parkour and it's hugely rewarding as you start flying around the battlefield, getting into advantageous positions against your opponents and running away from dangerous situations. Titans don't take a long time to learn well and provide a very different type of game from being on foot.

Overall I see how on first glance someone may be disappointed with this game, especially after being subjected to the extreme hype preceding its release, but giving the game an honest try (especially with friends), I truly don't understand how someone could give it a low score.

    Cons:

    Graphics

    Price
    PRICE!!!!!!

Now for the more in depth:
The game is so much fun with the wall runs and the jumps and the mantles etc etc, and that is very very smooth and it feels as normal as walking on the ground. The titans also feel very normal, its just as if youre on the ground, but instead of human size, youre giant. But where the game shines is in between these two. The balance between the two game play styles is so well thought out its damn near perfect. Any pilot can take on any titan, it may be dangerous, but its possible, and vice versa. If you want to just run on walls and play the game play CoD, well then do so! drop your titan in and make him follow and help you, or have him lock an area down! and speaking of titans, they are well made and balanced, with very few flaws about them, and the flaws are just annoying rather than gamebreaking. Now lets move on to the (kinda) cons.

Okay. So.. No singleplayer. Yeah, it sucks.. but honestly, if you bought this friggin game and thought there was single player then you deserved to lose your money, because Respawn said very clearly that there is no singleplayer. Now, that being said, its still unfortunate that its not included, but the multiplayer campaign really isnt that bad. Sure, its generic and not too creative, but in all honesty, isnt generic supposed to be good? Not to mention theres some REALLY cool parts of the game that are only shown in campaign. But alas, no campaign is still unfortunate, perhaps a DLC will include some kind of survival mode. Okay. Now to the graphics. Contrary to what people seem to say, the graphics are fine.. Are they next gen? No.. Are they "HOLY HELL THATS SO REAL"? No, theyre not. Theyre acceptable though, and theyre more than serviceable. Oh, make sure you actually go to the setting and change your texture quality, because im guessing half the people on here never did.
Okay, now the biggest problem of the game? The price. 60 bucks for a PC game? No. No PC game should ever be 60. At most it should be 50, and thats still too much. When you buy a digital copy of a game, you dont get a box, or anything that comes with it and that takes away from the price. This game might be worth 60 bucks, but it shouldnt be priced as so. Content does not affect gameplay, there are about 10 primary guns (or somewhere, i dont know for sure), and these guns are different enough to make you use each one, and never leave one behind and not use it. Its not that Titanfall doesnt have enough content, its that Call Of Duty has too much. How many times have you played CoD and only used a total of 8 different guns. Thats what i thought. Content is NOT a problem with Titanfall, and it should not be said that it is.

Oh, and while im thinking of it: people seem to complain about the bots. Well, imagine a 12v12 game of titans and then tell me that sounds fun, because it sounds awful. I think the Specters should do more damage, but hey, its not a big deal. The bots are fun, and they make the world feel alive. Its crazy to see a squad of grunts fall from the sky, and as they rush out of their pod, a giant pterodactyl monster flies down and takes one away.

    Conclusion:
The games worth 60 bucks, but shouldnt be priced as so, so wait for a sale or for it to drop to 40-50.
The game is intuitive, new, and smooth. The titan vs pilot is balanced, and its a seamless transition.
No singleplayer campaign, but honestly, if you didnt know there wasnt one, then why were you buying a game without looking at it first?
The online campaign is very generic, yet still fun and epic. I sometimes play it over classic modes simply because i like the story, however little of one there is.
Content is not a problem, guns are diverse, and you will use each one because you will need to.

HONEST Review from an ACTUAL Player (and not a COD fanboy). Be CAREFUL of the MISLEADING Negative Reviews.

Titanfall has reminded me of what it's like to have fun while playing a multiplayer FPS. I forgot that there was more to competitive FPS games than just simply running around extra small maps shooting each other with twitch reflexes fueled by Energy Drinks. Titanfall not only tests your ability shoot things in a hurry but your ability to think and act quickly while giving the player almost total freedom of movement.

Once you play a few rounds, you'll understand that you’re never truly "screwed" in a bad situation. Utilizing your environments (and jump pack) is vital to survival.

Surrounded by enemy players? Use your jump pack to reach an open window or roof. Just encountered an enemy Titan while on foot? Jump onto him and shoot out his Titan brain or go invisible and run away. Need a lift to the nearest capture point? Hop on a friendly Titan and ride on his shoulder while he shields you from bullets. The possibilities are nearly endless. Me personally; the best thing about Titans...is not piloting them at all. I am serious! I love calling in my Titan at the right moment and putting him on autopilot. He can either guard a point or follow you around the map.

A common criticism with this game is the size of the matches. Currently you’re capped out at 6v6. In my humble opinion, that is a good thing!! Seriously! The rest of the teams are filled in with A.I. controlled grunts. The A.I. do a good job of filling the battle and making you feel like your part of a much larger conflict. Also, while we are on this subject of player size, lets just try to imagine what a 24-64 player match would look like...let me answer that for you...chaos. You have to remember that each player gets a titan every 2-3 minutes. If 64 players got their titan every 2-3 mins...well you get the picture. The game was crafted so that you have to use tactics and skills to survive in a match. On that note, the maps are really well laid out. There are an equal blend of open areas for your titans to walk around as well as nooks, crannies, and interiors for the pilots.

Now every game has its downsides and Titanfall is no exception. One criticism you will hear most often is the lack of content, specifically the lack of weapons, items and abilities. The weapons and abilities that are in the game are well crafted and feel unique but there just needs to be more of them. Another hot topic is the lack of single player campaign. Now, I get what Respawn was trying to do but they failed miserably. They were trying to fuse single player and multiplayer together into one seamless experience. But instead you get voice over dialogue playing overtop of explosions and gunfire within a match. It really feels tacked on and rushed.

Titanfall didn’t reinvent the FPS genre but it certainly feels fresh. The constant balancing of pilot and titan combat is where this game scores huge points. Every match I play brings me this excitement I haven’t felt for a long time. I just wish there was more content and lore to explore because it feels like I just got a really good appetizer but no main course.

I would give this game a 7.5 out of 10 but it gets a 9 to help level out those unwarranted 1’s and 2’s scored by people who obviously have not played the game.

Finally, a breath of fresh air. In a gaming world that has become stale with games such as COD plaguing the market with fifth graders screaming in your ear various insults regarding your mother's weight, Titanfall breaks the pattern and gives us what we all truly want from a first person shooter multiplayer game: hours of challenging, satisfying destruction.

When I heard that Activision and EA were teaming up to make this game, I was concerned. All we needed was the combination of COD's lack of creativity with EA's history of terrible launches. Fortunately, this was not the case. Titanfall launched with almost no issues, and the gameplay is FANTASTIC. The feeling of hearing your titan break the speed of sound and impact the ground like a meteor gives me chills every time. It also doesn't try to hard to shove meaningless customization options down your throat. Instead, the creators and designers took the time in stead to focus on Titanfall's main achievement: gameplay. No one titan is better than another, all the guns are nicely balanced, and there aren't any perks that give any one high-ranked individual a ridiculous advantage over the rest. This keeps it challenging even when you get to the higher ranks and, in turn, increases its replay value. But perhaps my favorite part of this game is the innovation of the thruster-pack (or whatever you want to call it). The ability to hang off of walls, double jump across vast distances, and wall run whilst shooting a sentinel in the face is truly the aspect that gives this game originality. I found myself consistently amazed with some of the things I was able to do in this game that looked like they should be straight out of some futuristic Bourne movie. This game gives both expert and novice players the ability to have balanced, exhilarating fun.

Perhaps the only flaw in Titanfall is its story. It barely has one. The creators did incentivize the player to play through it so that one could unlock the Strider and Ogre titans, but if they hadn't, I would imagine barely anyone would ever even touch the campaign. It doesn't have a coherent and easy to follow story. You have to really pay attention to what's being said in the background in the loading screens between missions. And the missions themselves are merely conquest and attrition matches. It has no discernible difference from the multiplayer besides a few small points here or there. Really the only thing good it does for the game is give the multiplayer maps some backstory, but that's it. Fortunately, this flaw is not one that is crippling to the game itself. At least it didn't try too hard to make some powerful, emotional story and fail miserably (we're looking at you Battlefield). In the end, this hickup does very little to impact the game in any negative way.

    Summary:
    Pros:
    - Balanced weapons/perks/titans
    - Refreshing environment
    - Innovative gameplay

    Cons:
    - Forgettable campaign

I was indifferent about this game when it was hyped and when it came out, but after getting it for $36 on a amazon sale, I can say I'm impressed. The gameplay is very fun and satisfying. The game play is very fast paced, the weapons for your mech are fun, and the hit detection is solid. Also you have a lot of NPCs playing with you in each match, so every game feels like a big battle. I really enjoy that aspect.

Now this game isn't perfect. The campaign is a multiplayer campaign, and it's fun. But the story is pretty much non-existent, and there isn't a single player campaign. I think it would be cool if they had single player campaign, then a multiplayer campaign. The current campaign by itself is very short, and I think it was a missed opportunity.

Also the last flaw is I think there should be more weapons for your solider. The amount of weapons and customization is underwhelming. Also the NPCs, while cool to have you in battle, are basically walking targets. They aren't too smart or difficult, but they are good for target practice or getting a few kills.

So if you find this game on sale for $40 or less, then I recommend you check it out if you enjoy FPS games. You will find the gameplay very satisfying, sound effects are good, and fighting mechs on foot or in one is really fun. That said, the game isn't worth $60 for what it has. It's worth $30 in my view, but for $40 I think you'll still get your money's worth.

Respawn most certainly has spared no expense in making this the most action-packed, revolutionary and enjoyable multiplayer shooter that money can buy right now.

On the in game battlefield there's two distinct levels of battle - One, the foot soldiers on the ground, like the traditional FPSes from Respawn's Infinity Ward heritage, and two, the battles between the colossal Titans, making the experience all the more exciting as you wait for your Titan to fall into play, allowing you to join the "real" fight.

The jump-kit mechanics also offer something new to the otherwise tired Multiplayer FPS genre, in a way combining it with platforming genres - allowing for double-jumps and even wallrunning, and there's a veritable treasure trove of tactics to be discovered with regards to these mechanics.

In summary, to describe Titanfall in a nutshell, it's like HAWKEN crossed with the best bits of Call of Duty, with a little Mirror's Edge thrown in. And the result is a delicious and revolutionary action FPS which will always leave you hungry for more.

This is a truly remarkable game, full of a high powered, fun range of futuristic weaponry, fantastic graphics (if you're computer's good enough!), groundbreaking mechanics, an undefined parkour system, and the gameplay will leave your face glued full throttle to your monitor.

    PROS
    - It's fun.
    - Even if you're not great at shooters, you can contribute to your team by capturing flags like in conquest or domination modes of other games and there are also a lot of AI units running around that give you points for kills. Just a couple of example of how you can feel a bit of accomplishment even when not killing the opposing team's human players.

    - The unlock progression is decent. The different weapon types provide enough variety within the context of the game. Matchmaking becomes better the longer you play during a particular session. I find most rounds to be lopsided when I first hop into the game and they begin to even out the more rounds I play. The matchmaking is decent.

    - Only experienced lag a couple of times.

    - The sound is great, but I'm not sure about the surround positioning. Seems built for stereo at this point with few audio option settings.

    - The graphics are crisp.

    - The maps are great.

    CONS
    - Some of the time I don't feel like many people are even playing this on PC as it can take 5 minutes+ for you to get placed on a team and them another 5+ for the server to match your team up with an opposing team.
    - Too much time between rounds. In addition to sometimes waiting for a matchup, there's 90 seconds of countdown to the 60 seconds of loading the map and the added 10-second countdown to the drop ship sequence (10 more seconds?). This is even with both teams populated.
    - Some of the time I feel like hardly anyone is playing this game on PC as it will sometimes take a looooong time to get a team matchup. If you play 'Attrition' mode (like deathmatch), this is not an issue. If you play campaign or other multi-player modes, you can expect to wait for a matchup.
    - The graphics are a little cartoony/painted similar to CoD Ghosts on a console.

Honestly, at first I thought it sucked, but the more I play it, the more addictive it has become. I like it!

This game is all about the multiplayer so I won't downgrade it for that. What I will downgrade it for is clunky controls. Moving so fast with a mouse and keyboard isn't optimal. With players moving extremely fast it is almost impossible to get a good shot off. Teams are filled with bots. They don't do much and are basically free kills. This doesn't seem like a negative until you get into the heat of a battle and start shooting at 4 bots only to have an enemy player kill you from somewhere else. I would have preferred no bots because they are a distraction. I'll find myself killing 10 bots/game and only 2 players.
This game lacks content. There are very few equipment selections available and to make everything else paid DLC, especially in a game that lacks a single player campaign in absurd. A bare bones IP that lacks multi player content and single player shouldn't fall victim to the "season pass" treatment. The game is very innovative with movement. The titan gameplay could be improved. It isn't nearly as exciting as it could be. I'm more excited to get titans because they are overpowered than because they are fun to use. Maybe I'm out of the loop but the game never said how to defeat a titan. You'll get killed over and over again by them because it doesn't make sense how to take one down as a pilot. As a titan all you can do is just shoot at one. I like the game. It's not worth $60. It's fun but don't expect it to reinvent the fps genre. It's a nice change of pace but the lack of substance keeps it from reaching its full potential.

The bad side (for them) is that less and less people will pre-order games.
Anyway I hope this trend continues since it's quite cool for gamers who are able to wait a little !

I hate people who look at this game as an XBONE exclusive when I (a PS fanboy) can play this game on a PC. Titanfall is a great game overall but it doesn't deliver the hype surrounding the game prior to it's release.

The game runs on an outdated source engine, it looks last-gen on PC. But at least it looks better than XBONE because it only runs on a native resolution of 792p. This game is suppose to be "next-gen" but it can't even hit a 1080p native resolution. It also lacks a lot of basic features when compared to generic military shooters. It's only 6v6 but that's arguably the right amount, shooting bots is tedious because the AI is stupid and the "campaign" is BAD. I know the multiplayer campaign isn't suppose to be the highlight of the game but if it's there, it should still be critiqued.

It's barely even a campaign (not a single character development), it's poorly executed and it's just a mere intro to the game. You'd seen the whole campaign in the beta already, it's just 9 missions that you have to play twice and you can complete it within 2-3 hours. If Respawn promises us a campaign but they're just being lazy with it, they shouldn't have even bothered because then there would be less complaints. It would be much better if they had a separate offline campaign like they do in CoD, Halo and BF as the XBONE is clearly not ready for "always-online".

This game doesn't just borrow from FPS games but it borrows elements of DOTA 2. There are only 6 multiplayer modes and no private matches. The only way you can have a private match (so far) is to boot the guys you don't want in your lobby (which is annoying). I can't believe they shipped this game with only a few multiplayer modes and they had the balls (and got away with it to) to sell it at full price despite the lack of community features. Sure, you can patch more modes and better native resolution but this review (despite being late) is my initial reaction of the game at launch. The fact that you can make a game better through patches and updates (as well as price drop) can be said about every game. It lacks every fundamental features, even customization and an anti-cheat system.

I've ranted about the negatives for too long. This game immediately feels fresh as soon as you start playing despite having a CoD feel to it but with parkour and mechs. The Titans and weapons are perfectly balanced and thanks to the smart pistol, newcomers can enjoy the game at ease. The Smart Pistol is essentially an aimbot but it takes a while to lock-on which can make a difference between life and death if you're up against advanced players who can instantly kill you with a shotgun. It is annoying getting killed by someone with no skills but the Smart Pistol isn't as OP as you think.

Overall, if you love fast-paced futuristic shooters with parkour and mechs (which seems to have a mass market appeal), it's an easy buy. For others, you might want to wait for a price drop. It's very disappoint for a "next-gen" title, it essentially feels like another CoD and I got bored of this game (got a refund) after about a week. Titanfall is a fresh title for the over-saturated FPS genre but it's not the definitive "next-gen" title it claims to be and, in my opinion, it's overpriced for it's value. Kudos for surpassing both BF4 and Ghost.

Far from a flawless game, Titanfall nevertheless manages to combine various elements from different genres to become a strangely original and enjoyable shooter.

Awesome game. If the games are an art , then this one is a masterpiece. Great gameplay , great multiplayer, awesome graphics , the story really makes sanse. Probably the best game of 2014.

The game is pretty dope. Dont know why it needs to be 50 gbs though. Also a story mode would be awesome, but all in all its hands down the best multiplayer shooter out there.

Honestly shocked at how low the user score on this is. Easily one of the best games I've played in years. If you like incredibly fluid shooters with fun movement and interesting mechanics, you really can't pass this one up. A+++ cannot recommend enough

Only game I have that keeps me involved for hours. Love it.

Of course if you need extra content constantly then yes you may not get your money's worth, but for me it's just the constant challenge to be better and the game is developed well enough to allow that.

When i first played Titanfall on a free trial, i was hooked withing 10 minutes. I felt such an adrenaline rush like never before in any other fps game.
You start as a pilot, who has really sick parkour abilities and after you master the controls, almost no obstacle can stop you and you can run/jump around the maps at high speeds.
The moment you call in your first titan and start crushing

The moment you call in your first titan and start crushing your enemies is absolutely EPIC! You will never get enough of it.
I have spent about 30 hours in the game so far and i enjoy it even more now as im getting better at it.
There are not hundreds of weapons, but there is enough variety and all the special abilities make up for the smaller amount of weapons.
Game offers a variety of game modes to choose from, if you want to relax a bit you can play survival mode against bots. If you want no **** fps experience you can play 8V8 skirmish without titans. If you want fast paced adrenaline craziness you can play team deathmatch(attrition).
Audio is excellent, visuals are solid and the game runs very smooth and even more so as i have recently upgraded to a 144hz Gsync monitor.
Right now is the best time to pick it up, as you will get all the DLC maps for free.

One of the best shooters of all time.
    + immersion
    + atmosphere
    + gameplay
    - lack of customization
    - lack of SP
    - repetitive
    - average graphics
If you care about gameplay you may get bored, if you like immersive games, you won't find better game.

This game isn't as groundbreaking as the trailers made it look but it is certainly extremely fun to play. The presence of bots is annoying as you can turn the tides of a match by simply running around the map with the smart pistol and killing enemy AI's. Like I said, it is very fun to play, the parkour is very satisfying and is the best ive seen in any game, the titans animations are very well done, the maps in general are well designed especialy angel city with plenty of places to run around as a titan and also hide as a pilot to evade titans but if you are looking for a competitive shooter like Battlefield or even Call of Duty this might not be the game for you. A fast-paced action focused FPS.
It had the CoD BO3 experience 2 years earlier.
Although I could talk about the emotions that one can feel when you see your first Titanfall saving you from a bullet hell, I want to focus on something else, the attention to detail, the NPCs have great animations, you can see how two marines try to save another that is injured, how they salute you as you

The feeling when you were defeated and you are trying to get to the evacuation ship is something that I enjoyed in many ocassions, but I wouldn't recommend playing this game for more than 3 to 4 hours in one sitting, as it will be a boring experience after the 3 hour mark. I've played this game for about 200 hours (6/7/2016).

One more thing: Each generation (when you reach the maximum level and get to reborn after the regeneration tasks that help you use every possible weapon of the game) is not that rewarding, as you lose your progress and loadout from the previous generation, but you'll now receive 10% extra of experience per regeneration.
The amount of weapons and titans is limited, but enough for me.

Titanfall was, IMO, one of the most innovative shooters I had played in my life. The movement system was excellent, wall running, double jumping all felt extremely smooth. The gunplay was excellent and all the weapons felt unique, I do wish there were more weapons in the game, however. The biggest feature of Titanfall is the Titan combat, and holy crap is it epic. Watching your Titan fall from the sky and hit the ground with a shake and a band is so cool. Of course, the Titans are well balanced and do not dominate over the Pilots (players) as they have anti-Titan weapons. Titanfall was an excellent break from the same-old Battlefield and Call of Duty games every year. Expand

I love this game and it pains me to say that I can't give it a 10/10, the game isn't bad but the lack of support from respawning and the sheer amount of hackers runs it, just today, I got banned by a hacker

As an CoD type of game is a very unique one, with great Titan combat during the match.
Every other aspect is similar to this which we can see in CoD or Battlefield.
Not a perfect game because it bores me after few matches in MP.

I was waiting for a game that would blow me away and break the oligopoly of Battlefield and Call of Duty. Here it is. Titanfall shows that online shooting does not have to be confined to contemporary battlegrounds. [05/2014, p.42]

In the mind-boggling question that tortures world's biggest gaming studios (how to refresh the competitive FPS genre), Respawn answers by taking the Call of Duty core, enhancing it with elements from various sources and franchises (Mech games, Crysis , Tribes, Mirror's Edge etc.) and forging it in the Old School mold (Quake/Unreal Tournament) . Titanfall does not innovate. It manages, however, to leave a fresh taste by balancing nicely all components of its gameplay.

Titanfall is a highly entertaining online shooter, but it's a bit light on content for a full priced game. You quickly start to realize that Titanfall could desperately use more maps, more unlockables, more upgrades and more customization. [Apr 2014]
