Excellent game with fleshed out characters, nice combat and interesting open world. I love the diversity of locations, enemies and sidequests. Probably the best aspect of Witcher 3 is dark, grim story with multiple outcomes. The only bad thing about this game is the rushed final battle, but it's still an absolute masterpiece and my favourite game alongside Red Dead Redemption 2.

Has a huge immersive and beautiful world, fun side quests, great graphics, fighting mechanics are better than ever, I played it on a controller on pc though, so I can't say how is the kb+mouse combo. Only cons I could find were some small bugs here and there.

The Witcher 3 is one of those games that I check the news for the latest patches at work and buy the guide books (just to own). I save everything before a cut scene, just so I can watch it over or try a different conversation path to see something different. It's that good.

The game does have some flaws, hence why I didn't give it a perfect 10. The same character skins are used too frequently throughout the game losing your immersion in the game. Controls are somewhat messy (you will get used to them). Inventory (which I know they are patching) is currently a hassle. These issues, as well as glitches that hinder you from completing quests do not detract from the overall joy that is The Witcher.

Having played the two previous installments, and enjoying them both, the Witcher 3; however, is in a class all buy itself.

Buy, Play, Enjoy - you will not be disappointed.

What a epic Game. Story, Gameplay are epic. Graphic are quite good but its far away from E3 2013... sadly... and the Control with mouse+Keyboard is not that good.... The Tree shaking from the Wind feels wrong in every moment... But overall a rly. great game -2 points for the lying about the downgrade stuff.

It is not surprising it won numerous awards including Game of the Year for 2015. I would recommend playing the previous games (Yes even the first Witcher) to fully get the experience of the story.

Story: Geralt is back at it again. Only this time looking even better and can grow a beard. Now equipped with his memory restored you are tasked with finding the child of prophecy. Easy right? Think again. You get to explore 3 beautiful lands that have hidden treasures and plenty of monsters to slay. Inn to Inn squeezing every last coin from a Witcher contract, you find that you are not the only one trying to find this child of prophecy.
Just when you think there is enough on your plate, comes the romance triangle from hell. God be with you.

Gameplay: A HUGE improvement from the Assassin of Kings. The Wild Hunt finally got the combat correct. The moves felt smooth, using the signs were actually rewarding. You could use Igni to send the enemy up in flames without the huge penalty of death (Witcher 2).
They also made the potion aspect of the Witcher profession very enjoyable and highly rewarding. You make the item once and it stays in your inventory, when you meditate you use heavy booze to replenish the charges of said items. Collecting all the oils, potions, and elixirs gave you the edge in battle that it was supposed to.

Oh. Gwent. The love that is Gwent. They scrapped the previous little mini games from the last games and gave us something that could be its own game. I spent hours searching for gwent cards and people to destroy with my Nilf deck. Hopefully they look to make it a stand alone title in the future.

Bugs/Glitches: Only a few to mention that stood out. Sometimes I would get a hangup in the audio, For example I would be underwater and when I resurface it still sounds like I'm underwater and cant hear properly. It would only clear after I jumped on to my boat and jumped once or twice. Another issue with water; While exploring in Skellige oceans I would get stuck and not be able to perform the dive action. I checked and made sure it wasn't just my game controller, both the keyboard and game controller wouldn't dive. Only thing to fix it would be to save the game and reload the game.
Towards the end of the game the audio for hitting with my sword seemed to disappear also. Would only hear it after the 3-4 strike on a person. The damage of course still applied, just the sound was missing.

    Positives:
+ Huge maps with ton to explore
    +Armor sets
    +Timed choices

    Negatives:
    -You can end up alone
    -Roach
    -Dandelion

I completed it, and then went on my way. Some time later I ran across the village where the two I interacted with in the quest where discussing my choice and the subsequent outcome of the quest. It's these little things that make the Witcher 3 one of the best video game purchases I've ever made, and I've made a lot of them.

Haven't had this great of an experience for a long long time. For a game to be hyped this badly and not only to live up to it, but actually surpass it... gods, it's been ages since that happened. It's basically Game of Thrones just better, and I'm not exaggerating.

As you start getting into the game, you come across one of the best quest-lines I've seen in a video game ever, the one involving the Bloody Baron. I was a bit afraid that it peaked there, but it didn't. The game keeps that level and goes on with it. The main story line is just purely brilliant. And for a 200 hour long game, it never outstays it's welcome, never becomes stale or boring, and after all that time I was left wanting more.

All of this is aided by one amazing combat system. It's a bit difficult to master at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll have a great time. Number of different styles you can specialize towards(and change between, provided you buy the potion to rearrange your talents), whether swords(light/heavy), spells, or alchemy, it helps alleviate the stale that can set in during long open-world games.

Yes, it has a few issues, but they're more like charming character flaws, a really bad case of the popp-in being one, some stuttering issues, few bugs, and crashes(though only in the prologue area for some reason).

The one bad thing, for which I'll take of a point is that(very light spoiler ahead):

If you spent weeks trying to get the perfect Witcher 2 save file to import into your game, well... tough luck, CDP Red dropped the ball on that... badly. Some might get a mention, but some very big ones don't even get that honor.

    (/end spoiler).

But they make up for it by how they handle choices in the game itself. No longer are choices in the good/evil dichotomy, nor are they in the bad/worse dichotomy. Instead they're multifaceted, interesting, and good god will they nag at you: did you make the right one, I wonder what'll happen to them, is doing the right thing, the right thing?.. etc. And their consequences, whether immediate or not are laid out exquisitely, even for the smallest of side-quests. It's just mind-blowing.

Yeah, buy this game, and if the game's any indication: buy the season pass as well, then a lifetime subscription to whatever CRPRed makes. I know I will.

When I finally decided it was time to play through the witcher games (born out of the love for the Netflix adaption), I played through the first, trudged through the second and found myself unshaken by the quality of the 3rd and final entry vs the expectations I had developed for it.
I was led to believe the game was a masterpiece of gaming; the ultimate video game. The game is good. The game is very good. But, it's also bad. In every way it pushes the boundaries of what a game and an interactive narrative can be, it also falls short in the most critical or fundamental aspects of this medium.
To start, I want to praise the story and how it's told. The story is a truly gripping drama, beginning with the classic investigation of new circumstances and succeeded by a character's need to protect the ones he loves from the big bad. It's not the most original story, but it is as solid as 40 hour investment into a fantasy genre piece can be. More impressive (and I am biased by my background in film here) is the cinematography and character animation during dialogue and cutscenes. CD Project Red truly went to the ends of the Earth to tell a good story in a great way. Every scene is made captivating unlike any other game, aided by great voice acting and direction. You will feel the tension in the drama and the push and pullback in the emotions of the main cast. That is, until you reach the rest.
I cannot protest overall at the inclusion of player choice in the narrative, as well implemented as it usually is. However, when the conclusion is summed up by three choices that seemed the most neutral interactions and an aside to the actual plot, my receiving of the 'bad ending' due to my 'negative' choices felt cheap and undeserved. Considering what we've heard recently regarding CD Project Red's treatment of employees with mandatory crunch I guess it should be no surprise that the pragmatic act of accepting payment from a character's father for a job completed is considered a 'negative' choice. I guess they really don't believe in people being compensated for their work. Especially when followed by a fight against a great evil in which all resources should be vital. The other two choices that lead me to the negative outcome left me equally disillusioned.
Alas, that shouldn't stop the game from being a generally good experience and so I must move on from narrative to gameplay. Mediocre. That's what it is. Combat, while a vast improvement over the game's predecessors, still feels somewhat tactless. Dodge rolling around a group of enemies while waiting for an opportunity to strike (or wait for an opening use a tool like magic or bombs to create an opportunity to strike if you want to go the, frankly, unnecessary extra step) is still the name of the game. Blocking and countering will most often leave you exposed to a bigger enemy, or from another enemy to the side, and so I play rolly-polly and cut down the first fool to run up to me once I've finished my impromptu break-dancing on the battlefield. Otherwise, a wholly unsatisfying experience, but not necessarily a frustrating or janky one. So, mediocre it is.
Where the jank does lie is in the mounts. I hope you like fast travel, because despite my eagerness in the beginning of the game to never use it in order to fully take in the beautifully realised world full of amazing detail, by the end my faithful horse companion, Roach, was the biggest clot to ever trot and I expelled him from my experience. Auto-following a road seemed like a great idea when I first loaded up the game, until I realised just how automated it was. Roach follows the nearest path in any split in the road, whether or not the quest path suggests that route or not, or whether you're trying to nudge him left or right or not. Best practice is to take manual control for a moment and then return to auto-horsing. But that's the weakest of my complaints. I wouldn't try sprinting on Roach if I were you, because it changes his physics and suddenly every slight dint in the road becomes an impenetrable barricade as you watch your horsie gallop on the spot like an invisible treadmill guides his every step. As for boats, just don't bring them near anything. I mean it. Steering them can be awkward enough without the boat being randomly magnetically attracted to nearby rocks, regardless of which direction you're actually sailing. Then you get to watch damage magically appear on your boat as quickly as my dad disappeared when I was a kid.
My feelings on the seemingly more tactical progression and levelling are more subjective so I'll merely say it wasn't what I was looking for and otherwise sum up The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as an amazing attempt to be something more than just a game, so well in fact that it forget to be a fun game first.

    DIALOGI
Najlepszy polski dubbing.

The best game of the generation. I don't believe it will be surpassed, but one could hope. If you are a newcomer in the Witcher series, it can seem boring at first, and you will wonder what the fuss is about, but stay with it for a little more, and you won't regret it.

Great PC port, great graphics, great music, best voice acting in business. The story is probably the best in gaming.

Great PC port, great graphics, great music, best voice acting in business. The story is probably the best in gaming. Tons of meaningful quests and sidequests. The game is HUGE, and not filled with filler, but with substance.

The combat system is cool, a first for the witcher series. The older games had terrible combat systems but we didn't mind because of the other pros.

If you haven't played it yet, get it ASAP. Severely underrated on metacritic, if the "critics" gave 96 to GTA V, this should have gotten a 99...

It is also very loyal towards the Witcher books in its own way. It offers us a huge repertoire of monsters that all come from European folklore which is cool to say the least.
Worst things about this game are a weird gameplay, not real exploration (Bethesda does it much better) and a kind of boring main story. But all in all I didn't get bored at all and left me wanting more, this game deserves the 10 in my opinion.

What deprived it of a 10:
It reminded me of Skyrim a lot...
There were issues regarding the characters' control.
    The combat was somewhat boring.
The inventory/crafting interface could have been better.

You can make an outstanding game and still have made some big mistakes along the way. I believe this is precisely what has happened with CD Projekt Red on the Witcher 3 and here's why..

I love open world games and the freedom they give to the player. The elder scrolls have long been my favourite series for this reason. There's a trade off insofar as open world risks unfocused main plot-lines and characters with insuficient depth. Does there need to be a trade off? Perhaps not, but I can't think of any obvious open world games where you have free exploration in a huge world as well as very strong characters and lots of depth to your interactions. I question whether the open world approach was either ncessary or the correct one. You create difficulties for yourself such as how to maintain the right level of difficulty throughout. The learning curve in TW 3 is excellent but the game becomes too easy by the end - and I have no particular talents as a gamer and was on the second highest difficulty. This is part and parcel of the open world approach where the player can go anywhere at any time and you have to be prepared for that as developers.

In doing so, I entirely acknowledge how brilliant the world they crafted was and how much pleasure it has given lots of people. The problem is for those of us coming off the back of the previous witcher games, Wild Hunt simply couldn't offer comparable plot strength, politcal intrigue, or interesting character interactions.

Its exceptionally brave to change a thing which is not broken - indeed the Witcher 1 and 2 were incredibly successfull and we got to know many characters very well. i have heard it said that it was always the goal of Wild Hunt to produce a highly personal storyline rather than such a political one. I understand but have to question the logic of such an apolitical storyline following so hotly on the heels of two incredibly complex, fascinating, political plots which set the third game up so well. I don't understand the sense in setting up the third game as well as they did if they always intended to detour off into such a contrastingly different approach. I myself have also red the books and never thought the whole plot around Ciri & the elder blood was at all well crafted.

I mentioned the lack of focus issue... in Wild Hunt there is a certain quest where you embark upon an assassination attempt of a certain important person.... this should have incredible impact upon the main story or the world generally - but when it happens, it does not feel that anything important has transpired - it simply feels like yet another side quest and it's a huge anti-climax if I'm being fully honest.

...despite my personal feelings there is still an incredible game here as most sensible people will acknowledge.
The world is huge and utterly beautiful.
Crafting is a very deep process as is alchemy
There is so much diffferent equipment to disover and so many quests to be found throughout the world
    Combat is improved
You get to visit Kaer Morhen again!

You will have an amazing time playing this game but it will leave you feeling a bit empty when you complete it - you may be left wishing for just a little extra.

My final reflection would be this - Wild Hunt has hundreds and hunreds of quests... TW 1 and 2 had a tiny fraction of this. Did it matter? Not to me.

My feeling is that who cares about scale and quantity if the quality is right. less can be more, in art as in life, and I wonder whether Open World was really the right approach for this already hugely sucessfull series.

This game can be played with K+M just fine. The game, without a doubt, is built around a controller. This game is not open world like Skyrim, as I thought it would be. I would compare open world more relative to Dragon Age games. However, majority of the areas are extremely big which is okay with me. I have not had any issues with controls and combat. They seem to be responsive and don't feel clunky at all. This game managed to keep the AAA cinematic experience. During conversations, the camera pans out and in, people use facial emotions and body movements. 16 pieces of DLC to be given out for free. Majority of these DLC's have been cosmetic. You play as Geralt of Rivia a Witcher . If you were hoping to create your own character, that won't be happening here. Expand

Incredible graphics, fantastic sound, remarkable soundtrack and great story telling. The AI, however, can be easily exploited in sections and some side quests and even main quest have some real issues. Looting is frustrating until you get used to the incredibly narrow loot range and direction - was done to allow for looting in combat but it also makes looting a chore when not in combat. There are some glaring clipping issues and sound overlay problems but that is to be expected in a game that provides well over 100 hours of game play. Combat difficulty is extremely varied and its easy to out level the main quest content if you do a significant number of side quests so be cautious if you enjoy a challenge.

I recommend this game highly to anyone that enjoys RPGs, despite some of the nagging minor issues. This is a game that will stay with you for a long time and is a fitting closure to Geralt of Rivia's tale.

GRAPHICS: The graphics are spectacular but demanding on the PC. You do need to have a substantial rig to fully enjoy the graphical fidelity. On console the graphics are well executed and meet the "next gen" standard.

SOUND: Really well done ambient, combat and location sound effects that create a very compelling atmosphere. However there are some sound bugs where certain effects will linger and over power dialogue which is annoying and immersion breaking.

SOUNDTRACK: The soundtrack is phenomenal and very fitting to the setting, well implemented and strikes a chord at the right moments with excellent fading and transition some exceptions where, like the ambient sound effects, the music is overly loud and will interfere with dialogue delivery.

VOICE ACTING: Superb voice acting, with good dialogue and consistently well delivered lines. The NPC dialogues in areas could use a bit more variety perhaps as it can become monotonous and even irritating to hear certain dialogues over and over.

STORY: Excellent stories and very compelling, rich character development using multiple story telling devices including cut scenes, descriptions, items and game play. One of the best stories in gaming.

GAME PLAY: The combat is varied, from easy to difficult and is usually dependent on preparation and build but the AI can have issues at times. Otherwise the combat is fun and is adjustable to play style ranging from light armored dodging, fast attacks and signs to heavy armored tanking and the middle path of a little of both. The limitation on healing allows for tension and precision and can be challenging. Crafting is well implemented and can play a vital part in the game. Gwent, the mini card game is really quite fun but can be completely ignored if you don't enjoy it.

GAME DESIGN: Great level design and a vast open world to explore. Secret passages, caches, and unusual ruins compel the player to explore. The exploration is also well rewarded with great story telling and really well developed characters outside of the main quest. The quest design is some of the best since the Secret World and many developers should take note of the quest design in this game as it sets the bar very high for the genre and for games in general. Even after completing the main story the remaining quests, even the ones that are low level, are enticing just for the stories that they tell.

RECOMMENDATION: If you enjoy RPGs and well told stories this game is a must purchase.

The only negative point is that I felt like I was too constrained in my choices. In RPGs I want to be able to start a fight, insult the king, hit a villager that pisses me off... In witcher 3 you don't have this kind of freedom of choice. I want to play a role, either a white night or an assassin, a vilain etc... but I want to choose.

Most NPC's you can't talk to and they all have the same faces and bodies, they must be about 20 general created npc in the game (by general I mean the ones you cannot talk to, which are the most) so you quickly get tired of seeing the same people no matter where you go.

Money is not very usefull in the game either, that is a problem with a lot of games nowadays which really pisses me off because I tend to be the sort of player that doesn't stop looting and ends up with a massive amount of cash and you can't do anything with it! The only real usefull thing you can buy is Maps that give you locations on the map, and they're generally cheap, and one gwent card (if you're lucky).

It's a very well polished game with some minor errors that could of been thought out off more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i have been playing it all weekend and once i get use to the clunky controls and using a keyboard and mouse again. i find the game enjoyable. kinda big and overwhelming and im level 7 by now so it is slow leveling.

the combat is good, you have to choose between upgrading your combat abilities, magic abilitles or alchemy skill. all of them will help you in combat and you have stratigies you have to use depending on what you want to excel in. im using magic, i find it easier. it is basic magic and not all powerful like in most magic games, it simply helps you get the job done. the world is great, its realistic and mature feeling. like if you were back in 1271 in our world but with monsters and a little bit of magic, no cartoony stuff. you find dead bodies hanging and just lying about as the normal scenery, not areas where a quest will happen, its just apart of the world and that life. people dying from monsters and working in their fields while a war wages on, to top all of the other BS they go through. so it seems like thats actually how the world would be versus it feeling like a fake story, like harry potter, lord of the rings.

also some people were complaining that your choices mean nothing and things will happen as they happen, you just get to act nice or like a douche, WRONG. this is a slight spoiler but i will try to give away as little as possible so you are not expecting it too much when you meet the person. but i helped someone with a fairly long quest, they got to some important documents that could hurt or help people down the line, you had the option of stopping them or letting them go. you try to stop them, it ends up killing that person but i reloaded and tried stopping them another way, i then was able to talk them out of going and heading off somewhere else, on top of getting the documents back and they were still alive and my friend, instead of keeping the documents and having to kill them. so yes choices mean something and you have different ways of handling the situation, so when it comes to "important" people, think carefully of what you want to say and happen, you could kill this important person off completely!

the only part i dont like is the level of the creatures, some are too high to fight but i feel this just forces you to explore certain areas versus making it like a grid pattern(which is what i normally do) and forces you to travel, instead of staying close to home and being comfortable until you can uber destroy everything and it be simple and pointless. so its not insanely easy but not cartoonish and unrealistic feeling.

it is atleast worth renting and giving it a try, the alchemy stuff is harder to get into and actually want to do, more so then i thought, takes more thought and effort then i want but thats why i use the magic skill tree instead for fighting and i just buy food to help heal myself or i meditate. some people like complicated, i just enjoy complicated magic instead. so atleast rent or borrow from a friend, you wont regret it unless you hate massive games altogether and you want something that doesnt let you think.

Story is great, there are many characters, the dialogues are perfect. Many choices that affect the future of story. I will definitely play it again when i'll have more time and better PC.

Basically, it's a must-buy game, however before you get it, make sure you have a pad, like x360 one, the game is worth it.

Also if you're a hardcore player make sure you play on hardest difficulty - i started the game on second to hardest difficulty [only because of terrible ~30 fps rate] and it was like - the beginning of the game was quite like dark souls but eventually my character was overpowered beginning at around second half of the game, and 3shotting stuff and just yoloing some bossess isnt fun.

    Now, time for cons,
    - I really dont like the fact that once the fight starts it's hard to run away
-You cant jump during a fight, and it seemed like a good option in some situations
    - in fights with multiple enemies it felt alot better to not 'sticky target' the enemy. In DS2 it felt alot better.

So the cons are pretty much all about the combat system, and it probably could be better.

Still, the overall experience definitely outweights the cons.

The Story is great, and side quest were well written. However, I found it really hard to get a bad outcome out of the main quest. And the only death I had was bound to the storyline...

Crafting system is good, and add a depth to the game, and also add a few dozen of hours for you to hunt for your favorite witcher set, or potions.

The only sad part for my was the combat system. It seemed clunky, and not polished. You do not have the feeling of having the full control of your character, but always feels like you're soft locked to an opponent/direction.
I had hard time to continuously transition from 1 target to another while surrounded by a large group of NPC. More often that not, you will find your character swinging the wrong way. Also, seamlessly switching from 1 Witcher spell from another needs to go through a wheel menu and cannot be bind to different keys of your keyboard or mouse...

In conclusion, Witcher 3 is a good RPG game, and probably a must play in the gendra. You'll easly get 60+ hours for the main quests and some of the well written side quest related to the main story line and characters.

So on top of the main storyline quests, we have fully voice acted and cutscene-ed sidequests, and you get the usual mmo style go here kill something for fillers. Even with skipping the last type, you can easily spend 30+ hours in the game, which was the biggest pitfall of DAI. Story was over in about 15 and nothing else was worth doing.
The voice acting is top notch, level design is great, music is excellent, combat is a little basic.
However this being said, the game has a few problems:

The first half of the game is definitely better done than the second, more detailed, even at some points it feels dragging a bit but never too much, the second half feels a bit rushed, personal relationships with other characters (ex LI) take the backseat completely and entirely focused on Ciri. I missed the personal touch whereas you support Ciri but you need support as well from other characters and that never happens.

There are some occasional performance/stability problems that I am sure the devs will iron out

For first timers it will be quite hard to enjoy it full not knowing what happened in the previous episodes, so they will probably understand what they need to do but not too much why they are doing it

All in all I think this game takes the number one spot for a story driven fantasy RPG from DAO in my eyes.
Definitely worth buying, can only recommend it. If CD Projekt Red keeps this up they could become the new bioware which would be great. All they need to add on top of what they already have is to make it a bit more emotional throughout or just spread it a little bit more instead of bursts. More character interaction and they will get there.

However, I have noticed that despite it's tremendous amount of content, the quality of it does not suffer. In fact, some of the most enjoyable content, is not even in the main questline.

I would highly recommend this game, as I have been playing it on and off for weeks, but the craving to play the game has yet to cease. Excellent game.

Too hard from time to time, but still one of the best RPGs ever made. DLCs free of charge are a nice marketing stunt, but hey! It's free! And it's Witcher!

Not a perfect game but damn near close to it. I was not a witcher fan, so hesitantly got this game. Within the first hour I became hooked and lost countless hours of my life to it already. Side note I definitely get a kick reading the reviews of the people who scored this game at anything less than a four. The graphics and storyline alone set this game apart to be at least a decent game, add in the combat, the voice dialog and the customization and the points just increase.

In conclusion this game is near impossible to put down after playing for an hour, and a must get game for any RPG fan.

I also suffered from the crash and freezes. Now have the Nvidia driver 347.88 installed incl. complete uninstallation of the old (latest) with DDU. So I have no more problems, the game is stable for hours. Also tabbing out. I got all this out full screen and FPS limit and the driver the Power Options max. Power asked.

Nevertheless, the game is great. The graphics are great, the stories are interesting and the world looks so beautiful, away from pure technology. The aesthetic of the world is mind-boggling.

If you like adult fantasy worlds and have no problem with the given figure of Geralt (in many RPGs you can often create thecharacter yourself) and also do not expect a great but solid skill system, you have to play this game. Alone the card game Gwint in the game you could probably sell for 7-10$ on Steam (if it had a multiplayer mode ^^) and it would please.

The controls are good with a controller and I recommend that on PC. Maybe they will finetune the mouse and keyboard controls in the future.

So - in spite of the technical problems thatbothered me at the beginnig, I would recommend this game yet, because it justifies even these "hardships".

A grand masterpiece, with some technical problems - the only reason why I cant give a 10.

Witcher 3 offers everything you could want from an RPG - in-depth character development in the main story, dozens of side quests and treasure hunts to distract you, and a satisfying combat system, particularly on the harder difficulties (which I recommend you play the game on Hard, at the least).

In terms of the main story line and side questing, you'll find yourself addicted to discovering the fate's of individuals and whole communities. A decision you make on any quest may have minor, or major, implications further down the road. For example, you may come across a criminal chained next to a river as punishment for his crimes, awaiting an inevitable pack of Drowners to tear him to fleshy pieces - you let him live, he gives you a reward later in the game. You leave him be and you may rediscover his body torn to bits later on. Or, a person you assist in a quest may end up helping them become ruler of an entire people.

The only negative part of the questing is a complaint you may hear from many - over-leveling. Spending time on too many side quests and adventures may cause you to be too high of a level for the main quests, meaning you'll end up receiving no XP for completing them. Or, focusing too much on the main quests may end up making some side quests no longer worth any XP. You can track quest levels, but, I found there were a handful of quests I just found too late or was never able to get around to.

I won't go into too much detail on the combat, but overall, it was high risk, high reward and a lot of fun. Failing to prepare for a fight wouldn't necessarily mean certain death, but, it could mean a fight ends up being much more challenging than you wanted it to be. However, because of a relatively poor sorting system in the inventory, I found myself rarely using any potions that would help my character in combat, purely because I didn't want to look through the 30 potions I'd made to find the one I needed. You may hear some people say these potions are necessary on higher difficulties, but, I never found this to be the case after level 10-15. I also find it mostly a nuisance to have to pull up the inventory to apply one of about 12 blade oils to my blade, which would provide a marked improvement to my damage output depending on the enemy. I opened menus in this game more than I ever have for any other game. Ever.

But, none of these issues dock the game too much in my opinion. Some people may like the intricate fighting preparation - I find it only enjoyable to a degree. But, the emotion, dangerous situations and storytelling prowess of the game makes it a worthwhile purchase for anyone. I put in about 184 hours completing about 90 percent of the side quests, finding a majority of the hidden treasures and the whole main story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked this game, best graphics so far.

pros: long story, big map, crafting ( a lot of armory and sword crafting), good battle system ( if you attack an enemy the others will interfere instead of watching you kill there friend like other games), tons of quests, npcs interfere to weather.

cons : you must travel between areas( its not one big map like skyrim), after you beat the game other characters disappear ( game feels lonely after beating the game), you cant switch between characters
( ciri and geralt ), I liked the weather but I missed snow and stuff would be fun.

overall the game was good, worth to buy.

-Dialog - Some of the best and varied since Mass Effect
-Graphics - Rivaling the best of games granted your PC is up for the task.
-Quest variety - The best I've seen in an RPG. A few quest groups, but each with their own deep story and detail. The game is a little 'hand-holdy' in terms of quest markers and such; I'm unaware of an remove marker feature. This is certainly no deterrent. I wouldn't mind a little more urgency in-game while side-questing to keep it exciting. Something akin to a timer to get certain main-quest objectives completed before X happens. Would help with the immersion.
-Loot - All loot in the game is used for various crafting, and all special gear sets can be upgraded a few times to continue enjoying them as you level up.
-You see your decisions through the game intertwine with stories further in!

Play this and you will not regret it. The Witcher 3 plays a lot on relationships that have already been established in previous 2 games so I would recommend at least playing Witcher 2 first (A stellar game on its own) as it'll help you with immersion into the world. Thanks.
