Mar 2, 2018The Way of Kings, Escape the Shattered Plains is a treat, allowing fans to experience the world of Sanderson's Stormlight Archives first hand. It will likely be a little less enjoyable for those unfamiliar with the books, but holds no fewer secrets for those imaginative enough to poke, grab, and fill with Stormlight.

May 21, 2018The Way of Kings: Escape the Shattered Plains will be of interest to people who are big fans of Brandon Sanderson’s work, or for people who are curious about what a The Stormlight Archive TV series might feel like, anyone else will only feel frustrated a a bit short-changed by how brief and limited it all is. If this was the first part in an episodic series, it might be enough to draw interest, but otherwise its’ something best left for hardcore fans only.

Mar 2, 2018I’ve played a good number of VR titles so far that are intended to be this sort of interactive short narrative or experience, some like this, with zero previous experience of the source material either. Despite this, The Way of Kings: Escape the Shattered Plains is the first one that I truly felt like I absolutely needed that connection to enjoy it.
-
Mar 6, 2018There’s clear potential in The Way of Kings: Escape the Shattered Plains, but even $10.99 feels too expensive. As it stands, we have a 30-minute “adaptation” of a 1200 page novel with limited, rough around the edges gameplay. It may be worth picking up on a Steam sale but otherwise, it’s just not worth the cost of entry.

Mar 27, 2018You'll be hard pressed to stretch your total playtime past half an hour. The worst part of it is that it's actually pretty good, but as soon as the story feels like the prologue is over and it's time to take off, you get kicked right to the title screen and it's all over. I have no idea what the plan was here, there is so much potential between the source material and implementation but at the end of the day well not even that really, at the end of 15 minutes of gameplay, it just, well, ends.
