The Smurfs — Dreams was a downright magical experience; although I did encounter a few things I wish had been different, they are instantly forgotten thanks to everything I loved about the game.

The Smurfs – Dreams is a nice, family-friendly platformer that can also be appealing to fans of the genre and co-op enthusiasts. Despite being short and having some optimization issues, its creative challenges and engaging mechanics make it an enjoyable adventure.

The Smurfs – Dreams undoubtedly passes the licensed game test. Even without the little blue folks, this is an entertaining 3D platformer that recalls the imaginative level design and approachability of Super Mario 3D World.

Like its predecessors, The Smurfs: Dreams is a pleasant surprise. The gameplay takes the more recent platforming template and ensures it feels solid while also adding in a few twists to spice things up. There's a nice balance between being easy and having some challenge. The presentation complements this by being pleasing all around. Provided that the big traversal bug gets fixed, you're looking at a game that is well worth checking out — even for platforming fans that aren't even fans of The Smurfs.

It’s not going to be making very many year-end lists in a couple of months. But The Smurfs – Dreams is good enough for what it is – which is to say, a 3D platformer that’s aimed at a younger audience – that if you give it a chance and don’t expect too much, you’ll probably have a good time with it.
