The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy has not only succeeded in being an excellent Expansion Pack, but it also proved me wrong in thinking that it was going to be needlessly complicated and a grind to play. For me, it was the opposite: a joy to play. I had a lot of fun throwing myself into the new features and activities on offer, such as setting up my own Dynasty, getting established in the Noble Career, and engaging in Swordsmanship and Grand Balls. Plus, I was thoroughly impressed with the new world Ondarion. It's simply beautiful. There's not very much to fault with this pack. I honestly don't know if Royalty & Legacy is going to be the last Expansion for The Sims 4, as this could be a false rumor or a simple misunderstanding. I sincerely hope that it isn't the last, but if this is the case, the long run of The Sims 4 Expansion Packs will end on a high note with Royalty & Legacy.

Ultimately, my favorite thing about this new expansion to The Sims 4 is the creativity it will inspire in the gaming community, and I can't wait to see what people make of it.

Royalty & Legacy went from an underwhelming reveal to a Royal surprise. It's a more than fine pack for any Medieval Fantasy, swordfighting lover like myself. It's world is gorgeous and full of lore, and clear love and passion went in to it. It is not a must, but a welcome addition, and what it provides it does well.

The Sims 4: Royal Legacy is one of the game’s most ambitious expansions in years. While the Royal career is still too easy to access and misses a chance to add real challenge, the dynasties, intrigue, and lore updates make up for it. The dynasty system in particular brings back much-needed depth and storytelling to family gameplay. The new world, Ondarion, is a highlight with its scale and detail, though missed opportunities remain, especially in Create-a-Sim, where everyday clothing and options for younger Sims feel limited.

Preferences really are the deciding factor on whether a player will get use out of The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy or not. If you’re on board with ridiculous storytelling and scandals, hedonistic opulence, and a world that’s a little bit magic, you’ll likely have fun with Royalty and Legacy, despite its shortcomings. It’s not the most well-rounded pack, and perhaps not worth the king’s ransom of $39.99, but it inspired one of my favorite in-game stories I’ve played out in a long time, which definitely counts for something.
