Origin could have been just another licensed gacha game—a monetization machine disguised as a video game. Fortunately, it is not; it possesses a distinct voice and original ideas, and, above all, demonstrates a genuine desire to be remembered for something that transcends the sheer weight of the license from which it was born. Much will depend on the extent to which Netmarble remains fully committed to pursuing this direction. For now, Britannia is a place worth returning to—despite all the limitations noted thus far.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has all the ingredients for a strong anime game, with an engaging story, familiar characters, and an inviting world to explore, especially for fans of the franchise. However, its potential is currently held back by technical issues, clunky mobile-style controls, an unclear UI, and frequent glitches. The gacha system may also not appeal to everyone. As it stands, it’s a promising but rough experience that could grow into something great with updates, making it mainly worth it for dedicated fans for now.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is a striking gacha adventure that, despite its compelling anime backbone, struggles to sustain interest across a tedious runtime. While a smattering of bugs gets in the way of gameplay, it’s the by-the-book gacha system and monotonous missions that do the most damage here. Charming dialogue and flashy combat help to mitigate the frustration to some degree, but even if you are overtly keen on the Seven Deadly Sins IP, this attempt to consolidate its best ideas has resulted in a gacha experience that could be easily mistaken for another peer in the genre.
