A more open environmental structure and a larger amount of hotspots per screen, and it would be perfect. Even so, it’s a stunning game that must not go missing from your collection. [March 2013]

So far I haven't seen an adventure where the puzzles were so plausible and seamlessly integrated into the main plot. Unfortunately character design and direction in general are far less perfect.

The setting's got potential, after all, a legendary city was the right recipe for Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis 20 years ago. The game doesn't quite live up to it though. Badly animated characters and worse still, passages where you'd wish for a cutscene rather than a riddle for a better pace in storytelling. A shame, because Lost Chronicles of Zerzura captures the flair of the Renaissance and thus time of the inquisition well. That alone makes it worth a look.

Though it doesn't chart new territory with its premise, Lost Chronicles of Zerzura combines all the right elements to create a thoroughly enjoyable old-school adventure.

With its fresh setting Zerzura offers exactly the kind of more serious point & click adventure I´d like to see more often. An inspired, well crafted expedition into the underrepresented realm of the historically inspired adventures.

The developers of Lost Chronicles of Zerzura have Mata Hari and two Black Mirror sequels under their belt already, but this game is an adventure in the same way as a blueprint is an airplane.
