   The story, characters, music and most noticeably the world is simply unmatched.
   While I think Sky FC is already comparable to classics like FF6, 7, Chrono Trigger, Lunar: Eternal Blue... Sky SC surpasses that tier and set new heights on the genre.
   What makes this series so special? Well, the quality of its writing and also the sheer depth and volume of it. For example, each town NPC is handcrafted and their dialogues change as the story goes on, which makes the world feel alive. Many of them have their own story arcs or running gags that will make you want to talk to them for what they will say instead of purely for completionist purposes. Now, if they bother to give this much attention to random NPCs, you can expect an unprecedented level of detail for the main cast and story that puts even visual novels to shame.
   
   I strongly suggest playing through FC before this, otherwise you will be kind of lost in the story.… Expand

   - even more options when it comes to character optimization
   - fantastic follow ups on the side quests from the first game
   - one of the few games where returning to the areas from an old game does not feel like the devs were lazy, and instead it feels nice continuation of the previous events
   
   Cons
   - the game takes a little bit to get going once again but it is helped by every chapter being overall more interesting than the ones in the first game
   
   As a second game in the fantastic Trails series, Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter had the hard time of following up the amazing first game. So how did it do? Did it suffer the dreaded sequelitis?
   
   Nope. The Second Chapter improves on every single thing from the first game and adds even more fantastic story moments that are bellowed to this day. More intrigue, more plot threads being sown while some are being solved. We get to see the influence of other countries on the kingdom of Liberl, setting up the geo-political scale of the entire series.
   
   There are also far more character moments, setting up relationships between friends and enemies that are carried through to the latter games and payed off. Aka some of the stuff hinted at in this game is followed up on and brought to conclusion in Cold Steel 4. The ninth game in the series. We are at the second one. Like wow.
   
   The best way to describe this is if you are a fan of something like Malazan or The Wheel of Time, this carries as much worldbuilding and character arcs as those series. It is beautiful to watch.
   
   The combat got overhauled and added more effects to the turn order that can help you or screw you, making the combat puzzle of pushing people around on the turn order even more engaging to play with.
   
   You also get new orbments, allowing you to slot higher tier quartz which allows for even more unique spells gained through the intriguing synthesis system. Once again, you can spend hours on min maxing characters, though AOE magic is kind OP even on the physical characters like god damn.
   
   Over all, Trails in the Sky: Second chapter is a fantastic sequel that takes the original and enhances it. What an amazing game that continues setting up the future of the series.… Expand

   Ich bin nun seit einiger Zeit Fan der Trails Reihe (ich habe Cold Steel 1+2 geliebt und FC war auch ein super Spiel) und SC ist nun der 4 TeilIch bin nun seit einiger Zeit Fan der Trails Reihe (ich habe Cold Steel 1+2 geliebt und FC war auch ein super Spiel) und SC ist nun der 4 Teil der Reihe den ich mir zu Gemüte führte... und ich wurde natürlich keineswegs enttäuscht!
   
   __Story:
   Die Geschichte von SC beginnt dort, wo FC seine Credits einspielte. Ich möchte natürlich nicht zu viel verraten aber es wird nach alter Trails Manier viele überraschende Wendungen geben die einen richtig packen. Story technisch ist Nihon Falcom einfach auf einem extrem hohen Level!
   
   __Charaktere:
   Die Charakterpallete wurde um einige Neuzugänge erweitert, allerdings spielt man die meißte Zeit mit den bekannten Figuren aus dem ersten Teil (was ja vollkommen logisch ist :-)). Auch hier ist wieder eine durchaus spannende und nachvollziehbare Charakterzeichnung gegeben. Ein wirklich sympatischer Cast!
   
   __Gameplay:
   Hier hat sich zum Vorgänger auch nicht allzu viel verändert... und auch wenn das Spiel nicht mehr das jüngste ist, so ist das Kampfsystem der Trails Reihe doch nach wie vor eine Perle unter den RPG´s. So kommt SC mit seinem Battlesystem nicht an seine Nachfolger der Cold Steel Reihe heran, aber dennoch reicht es, um viele andere RPG´s in Sachen taktischer Tiefe und Vielfältigkeit in die Schranken zu weisen.
   
   Prinzipiell lässt sich das, ein wenig an ein SRPG erinnernde System, in folgende Bereiche unterteilen. Art´s sind die Magie in der Trails Reihe... hierbei gibt es sowohl Angriffs- und Supportzauber. Craft´s sind die charakterspezifischen Skills - diese können ebenso den Bereichen Angriff oder Support zugeschrieben werden. Alle Befehle aus den genannten Punkten besitzten unterschiedliche Wirkungsbereiche wie Einzelziel, AoE Kreisförmig und AoE Linienförmig. Zusätzlich kommen natürlich der normale Angriff, Item´s und Fliehen hinzu... aber auch die Möglichkeit des Bewegens auf dem Schlachtfeld - was oftmals durchaus nützlich sein kann, um Angriffen auszuweichen oder Gegner zu flankieren.
   
   Das Entwicklungssystem ist dank des Orbal/Quartz Systems schön vielfältig. Charaktere lassen sich damit weiter nach eigenen Wünschen modifizieren. Ein festes Klassensystem gibt es nicht wirklich... zwar gibt es charakterspezifische Craft´s (Skills), die in eine gewisse Richtung (z.B. Heilung) tendieren, allerdings lassen sich durch die Verteilung von Angriffsquartz auch solche Charaktere zu tödlichen Nahkämpfern umbauen. Die Variationsmöglichkeiten sind wahrlich gewaltig und es macht Spaß sich darüber den Kopf zu zerbrechen.
   
   __Grafik:
   Natürlich ist die Grafik in die Jahre gekommen... wir reden hier aber von einem Spiel, welches über zehn Jahre alt ist. Dennoch sind die Sprites durchaus gut gelungen und detailreich umgesetzt.
   
   __Sound:
   Der Soundtrack der Trails Reihe (gilt für alle Spiele der Serie) ist von Nihon Falcom´s hauseigener Band produziert (J.D.K Band) worden. Diese steuert wie immer überragende Lieder bei welche je nach Situationen von ruhig bis episch reichen.
   
   __Schlusswort:
   Trails in the Sky SC ist ein würdiger Nachfolger welches seinen Vorgänger sogar übertrifft und ist ein Grundstein dessen, was Nihon Falcom über zehn Jahre später in die Entwicklung der überragenden Cold Steel Reihe einbringen würde!!!… Expand

Combat system is standard turn-based affair set in a grid. Best part about combat is absolutely 0 grinding is needed. Don’t want to fight field enemy? You get 100% escape chance. Level scaling makes it so you get more exp the high the level difference there is between your party and the enemy.
   You have to play Trails in the Sky FC to fully enjoy this game. But once you start on SC, it’s one hell of an emotional roller-coaster that’ll make you wish you can forget about this game just to replay again. Support this game as much as you can for more fantastic entries in the Trails series like 3rd, Zero, and Ao no Kiseki to be localized to the West.… Expand

   Same flaws as FC without the benefit of having a good plot. It's a 60 hour long game and the first 40 are bad filler.
