The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon is a good movie-making business simulation that doesn’t do anything particularly original. The setup is simple, and the movie-making progress has been distilled into a loop that gives gamers crucial decisions to make. The experience isn’t turn-based but manages to successfully create the same feeling of “just one more” movie. The presentation, with its bright colors and easy-to-understand interface, adds to the immersion. Over time, the mechanical limitations and the repetitive nature become clearer. The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon works best in small doses and as long as players see the process of making a movie as more than a series of choices to repeat until they get the expected result.

The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon is a game sure to put a smile on the faces of folks interested in the movie production industry. New developer Aniki Games in their first plunge into the world of computer game development picked an interesting topic that turned into a very well thought out and playable business simulation. There have been others in this genre in the past but The Executive overall is a solid game that will provide hours of fun for those of us that happen to be movie buffs interested in how films are made.

The Executive then is thankfully more MCU than DCU, with a breadth of mechanics and enough to unlock to ensure you have the best possible chance at Hollywood success. Whilst you can feel fairly hard done by throughout, it's regardless a solid simulation of what running a movie studio truly entails. The elation, and the heartbreak. See you at the Gaspars.

Overall, The Executive has a lot working in its favor. Cinephiles will appreciate the impressive attention to detail and the meticulous recreation of the movie business. That said, a few frustrating design choices hold it back from greatness. Minor bugs need patching, the premium production options desperately need better explanations, and an endless mode would do wonders to extend its replayability. If you're willing to embrace trial and error, have a passion for cinema, and can happily lose yourself in spreadsheets for hours, this game might just be your blockbuster hit.

While it could entertain for a short while, it lacks the depth or innovation needed to keep players invested in the long term. If you’re looking for something fresh or groundbreaking, The Executive likely won’t scratch that itch. It’s a perfectly fine experience, but one that’s all too familiar, and in this oversaturated market, that’s simply not enough to make it stand out.

It's pointless to make a game that explores a particular theme without actually trying to understand what makes it so special and, consequently, embedding that into the core of its development. The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon is a product that embodies this problem. It's a title that clings to a sterile logic of numbers, algorithms, and volume, like a bland production aimed directly at streaming.
