  • Summary: The Culling Of The Cows is a side-scrolling shooter / tower defence game. You will take the role of Sammy, a soliloquizing schizophrenic farmer with a self prophesied mission to lay waste to the disease spreading over his farm.

    The game is alright, nor is it horrible, nor is it unplayable. The game follows a farmer who tries to protect his barn/farm from the diseased alien cows and human zombies. The game is like a tower defense game, where you play the farmer shooting your way through hordes of cows, with a little variety here and there. The concept is okay but can get a little repetitious at certain parts.

    Although its a fun little game to play, there are a few problems. Firstly, the reloading of the gun. Although I understand that the developers wanted you to take care of not only shooting the enemies right in front of you but also taking care of your gun, however, this can get annoying and when you are in desperate need for ammo, you have to reload, and the reload speed is so slow, you might as well either let the cow into the barn or get yourself ripped apart by the cows themselves.

    Another thing which really bugged me was that there was no checkpoint system whatsoever, this can get really frustrating as you immediately die, and if, let's say you were in Wave 7, you would have to begin all the way back to Wave 1! Very annoying!!

    Another thing is the farmer himself, he walks too slow and his reload speed is slow too. I can understand they made him the stereotypical old hillbilly farmer, but whenever you are in a tight situation, your kinda stuck.

    For the level of difficulty, its not as bad a RADical ROACH Deluxe Edition (which is made by the same people who made this!), however, without the checkpoint system and the slow walk and reload speed, you may need to repeat a stage more than 3 times! A thing which I learnt and really gets you fast running through the wave is to use the powers given to you (ex: A turret, or a meteor shower) wait until its done then shoot until it reloads, simplest way... and it worked for me!

    The music can get a bit repetitious and annoying and the sound quality varies from time to time. Reminds me of the sound quality from One Finger Death Punch where the mentor would speak into the microphone that's recording his voice so close.

    The story... I have no idea what the story is all about. The game literally throws you into the game without even telling you why the cows are mad as they are and why you are trying to protect your house and barn, The game literally does not tell you what's going on, to get a glimpse about the story, I had to go and watch the trailer on their store page!

    Now to the recommendation, I have to say that the game was fun to play, however, for the price its asking for... no way would I recommend it, I got this game for free from a giveaway by the way. Its not worth the amount the game company is asking for! For its full price, I would not recommend it, BUT if it is either in a sale, price drop, giveaway, gift or even given to you as a free game like I got it then I would recommend it.    … Expand

All you have to do is to embody an american angry farmer who kills cows and bulls with a shotgun. Story is unintelligible for the little that it is there. There however are so many levels that it quickly becomes boring and frustrating. Bonuses and enhancements are dull and don't even add something to the game. There are a lot of bugs. The music, the atmosphere and the sound effects are simply horrible, as the management of the 2.5D effects and distance. This game is awful to listen to. This game is just awful to play.… Expand
