Jun 28, 2022The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is a great movie and an engaging detective game. The story is its strongest point and even though not all deductions seemed well-grounded to me and gameplay mechanics resemble simple jigsaw puzzle, solving the mystery gave me a lot of satistaction.

Jun 1, 2022The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is an engaging mystery that involves murders that span over a period of 100 years.
-
Jun 6, 2022The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is absolutely one of the better murder mystery FMVs out there, bringing together acting portions with interesting mechanics and a stellar story with a surprising twist. Although the mechanics did feel a bit at odds with each other at times, it doesn’t stop The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story from being a truly fascinating experience that was hard to put down. If you love a good murder mystery that plays like a movie but makes you feel like you’re reading an Agatha Christie novel (albeit in Japan), The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story has waited a century for you to try it out.
-
May 28, 2022The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is difficult to be a good FMV game. The tedious plot, boring detective gameplay, and many unnecessary misleading information make playing it almost a disaster.
-
Sep 12, 2025The Centennial Case is one of the more ambitious FMV games in years, telling a century-spanning mystery while putting the player in charge of investigating several whodunits. Unfortunately, despite a solid production, there is very little to engage the player and the uneven acting performances fail to make up for it.
-
Aug 9, 2022The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story is a massive FMV-game that tries to do way too much with its story, and in result loses its focus, especially compared to some smaller scale titles.
-
Aug 14, 2023The Centennial Case is an engaging FMV murder mystery with a unique vibe, thrilling confrontations, and a main protagonist who I’ll treasure because of her sincerity and undying determination to find the truth. I also felt much for Eiji, whose reserved (yet goofy) presence got me to care about his aspirations. Unfortunately, the lackluster characterizations of side characters and a corrupted save file due to the game’s instability on mobile mean that I can’t wholeheartedly recommend it.
