After the abberration that Rambo: The Video Game was, Teyon delivered Terminator: Resistance - not just a "cool game" in and of itself, but also the best Skynet-themed game to date. Destroying terminators is really satisfying and I'm certain that this game will be one of the biggest surprises of 2019 to some shooter lovers out there.

As a shooter, Resistance is rather mediocre. But as a Terminator game, it's great. [Issue#244, p.52]

Terminator: Resistance is a scrappy little game with a lot of heart, ambition, and genuinely great design in parts. It definitely could’ve benefited from a more compelling latter half, and the presentation will throw off a lot of people. However, it’s the most accurate interactive translation of the franchise to date, and frankly, a better yarn than many of the films between Judgement Day and Dark Fate.

Teyon, the same Polish developer that created the mediocre shooter on rails Rambo: The Videogame has been redeemed itself crafting an unexpected fun and engaging shooter FPS based on the first two Terminator pictures.

Great atmosphere meets awful technical state. Cleverly designed environments meet dumb enemies. Ideas both good and bad meet each other. In Terminator: Resistance, you don’t fight just against Skynet, but sometimes against the very game as well. This is not a perfect game, but still one of the best in this troubled franchise.

Terminator: Resistance shows a bunch of potential, even if it doesn't always meet it. I was happily surprised with deeper than expected progression, and great dialogue and relationship building. But playing the game I feel stuck in the past, with visuals from yesteryear meeting good but standard gunplay. The worst part is watching the newest piece, the Annihilation Line DLC, take a step back. The Wolfenstein series does better in this sub-genre, but Terminator: Resistance is still a lot of fun to play, which says something about where it could go if Teyon gets another shot.

Terminator: Resistance doesn't do much new, and it doesn't do much well, either. It's lagging in almost every department, yet when you put it all together, it's a charming relic that may just surprise you.

As of now, Terminator: Resistance is no more than a grabber box candidate for fans of the movies or the genre.

An unexpected surprise: Even with its old-fashioned visuals and storytelling you‘ll encounter quite a few tense moments in this stealth-charged Sci-Fi-shooter.

Terminator Resistance is a mediocre title. Gunplay in not so bad, but the game looks old and never offers engaging or exciting moments. Fun for a couple of hours and nothing more.

While Terminator : Resistance can be of some interest for the most die-hard fan of the IP thanks to it's clever use of the Future War storyline, everything else about the game falls short of expectations.

Boasts about all of its additional mechanics but it doesn’t quite pull off being a regular shooter while looking like from a decade ago. [01/2020, p.56]

Had Terminator: Resistance released in 2008 it may have been considered one of the better licensed games of its time, but we've come a long way in ten years. In 2019, with excellent licensed titles becoming more common, Terminator: Resistance is mediocre at best. Fans may like it, but they deserve better. Maybe they'll get that game in an alternate future - who knows - but they certainly didn't today.

The most disappointing thing about Terminator: Resistance isn’t merely that it’s bad, it’s that it’s bad and yet it’s probably still the best Terminator game I’ve ever played. If you’re in the mood to mindlessly mow down waves of authentically modelled T-800s to the rhythm of Brad Fiedel’s iconic theme music, then Terminator: Resistance may well be adequate enough. But while there might already be a truly great Terminator game in some alternate universe’s timeline, in this one the wait continues.

  1. The nicest thing I can say about Terminator: Resistance is that if a Terminator were sent back in time to wipe out its code, the timeline of gaming in general would almost certainly proceed unchanged.

The game play is smooth and flows nicely and the soundtrack is amazing. The graphics are a bit out of date but this is Gold when compared to the previous terminator games that have been released. One of my favourite aspects behind this game is the story-line which allows you to have influence over what happens later in the game. There is also multiple side missions you can complete to build a good reputation with the other story characters. I definitely recommend this game if you are looking for something to kill the time and have fun! So far through what I have played it has been enjoyable and exciting to run through. Full Review »
