Terminator Resistance is an old-fashioned game that doesn't take advantage of the Terminator license properly. Still, its story, music and sound effects will serve to bring a smile to the fans of the famous franchise.

Terminator: Resistance could be a much better game both graphically and technically in general. Still, it has high doses of fun.

Terminator: Resistance provides a quite enjoyable experience as long as you're not a too demanding fan of the famous franchise and post apo universe ready to overlook a certain amount of issues.

The Terminator branding is mostly relegated towards the setting and a couple of characters; sadly not a single actor from the series lends their likeness or voice to add any authenticity. One of the few infiltration Terminators seen is designed as a generic looking muscle guy who looks and sounds nothing like Arnold Schwarzenegger despite his outfit being an obvious homage to the first film. Without Terminator aesthetics, this would have been a forgettable and generic action game. More than just being really easy, Terminator: Resistance is also very short. Even when completing most of the side-quests, expect to negotiate the entire experience in less than 10 hours.

Despite these misgivings though, I had a fairly enjoyable time with Terminator: Resistance. Sure, its mechanics, looks and technical aspects all feel as though the last 10 years of progression in gaming didn’t happen, but as a straight shooting FPS it does a passable job of entertaining. The campaign over stays it’s welcome, but along the way there are some quite likeable characters that make the journey more bearable. It would have been nice to have the death bringing army of machines feel more of a genuine threat rather than a pop up gallery; if the tension in that early scene could’ve been maintained we might have had something quite special on our hands here. As it is, we have a pretty bog standard shooter that feels a decade too late to the party.

Terminator: Resistance on Xbox One does nothing to create an identity for itself. Much like the machines in the game, the whole campaign feels manufactured using resources from other games that did it better – five years ago.

The most disappointing thing about Terminator: Resistance isn’t merely that it’s bad, it’s that it’s bad and yet it’s probably still the best Terminator game I’ve ever played. If you’re in the mood to mindlessly mow down waves of authentically modelled T-800s to the rhythm of Brad Fiedel’s iconic theme music, then Terminator: Resistance may well be adequate enough. But while there might already be a truly great Terminator game in some alternate universe’s timeline, in this one the wait continues.

Something IWe get fun combat, surprisingly decent graphics even with the lower budget which is fine because graphics DO NOT make a good game. Something I believe the game critics have forgotten all about these days...

We got lots of customization, gun upgrades, fan service weaponry, good crafting, exploration, small RPG dialog sequences that allow you to interact with characters in both small and large ways. We got sex scenes as well which took me completely by surprise because I had no idea how deep they'd go with their story aspect.

Again, this game just came out of nowhere and I ended up feeling like I was playing a Metro in the Terminator universe. Its so freaking great. The voice acting is quite good, map design is very open and you can go about handling enemies in a variety of ways that all work well and aren't feeling generic.

NO this is not AAA studio game is more like an indie, so do not expect greats voice acting or animation. So one that this is settled down you will realize that this game is awesome.
So.. Long story short this is a big franchise game made by a small studio that managed a great result, totally recommend.

tl;dr: a actually good terminator game, wtf.

there is something special with the terminator franchise for kids born in the late 80ies, who grew up with the movies on vhs. something all the movies since T2 failed to capture...until now.

As I sat there as a kid, watching the short future war sequence, I always wanted there to be...more.

Sadly, it took more than 20 years to deliver. But as I started the game, and heard the still awesome soundtrack, it finally arrived. It's hard to describe how I felt inside, once I had to hide from the first T800, with that pumping machine drone sound in the background and with a completely useless weapon in my hand.

Later in the game, you reach a resistance hideout and it looked so...right. I instantly started to look for a burning tv set...and I found it...I was finally there....*tears up*

Still, if you want to be really honest, this is a just-above-mediocre oldschool shooter. The KI isn't good, and the animations of the non-terminator npcs look quite clunky, but I don't care. This is what I always wanted, since Kyle Reese told me about the dogs.

    7/10 for pure gameplay
11/10 for any oldschool terminator fan.

I don't trust them anymore. Mainstream critics for both movies and gaming have lost the plot. I have my theories, some of them hate games, others the properties, and others are just leftist and anything that doesn't propagate the masses can't be a good thing. But this game is. It isn't polished. It has Xbox One early generation graphics. But it's a heck of a lot of fun. And fans of the movies will LOVE this. Especially since the game is centered around T1 and T2. T3 isn't even mentioned. This isn't a spoiler, it's in the synopsis. Be prepared for a treat. Even the licensed music is there. Nothing was cooler than some of those scenes with that drum beat accompanying the destruction. And it explains things the movies did not. This is legit canon, and a must play for fans of AA games that just focus on making a fun game, but don't quite have the budget. Knowing what they did though, this game was an overlooked and vastly underrated title. It's worth it, especially as a rental from Gamefly or on sale as it's a bit short. I'll mention that the PS5 and PC versions have a DLC this version doesn't. But I was okay without it. The game was about to over stay it's welcome when it ended. And that is another thing the devs nailed. It wasn't bloated. And it was refreshing. I'll be severely disappointed if more from this studio doesn't get made. Expand

The music, the sounds, the look everything immerses you in the Terminator universe. And while it isn't up to some games standards in terms of graphics and visuals. It does a good enough job for them.

Playing this game does truly hit something in the hearts of Terminator fans.
