Super Sami Roll is undeniably a fun and charming game with a lot to love, from its pleasing art style to its fun gameplay. However some controls don't feel quite as tight as they should. And some sequences can feel a little too long between checkpoints and exits.

Super Sami Roll is a great game that holds itself back by being too beholden on paying homage to other franchises instead of blazing its own trail. As a ball-rolling game, it’s good and as a platformer, it’s pretty good — but not as good as the titans of the industry. It needs fine-tuning to make the platforming side more cohesive, but winds up being greater than the sum of its parts due to how fun everything is. There’s a layer of jankiness to some things — like the tongue-moving mechanic, but it still enables the game to be a lot of fun despite that. It’s a good-looking and better-sounding game, and a solid pickup for anyone who loves ball-rollers and wants something that integrates more platforming into that genre.

I hate this game, But also I love it.
Super Sami Roll is get ready for this.. Mario meets sonic meets yokkalaylee meets monkey ball…
Mostly the monkey ball bit though..
Here youll go across stages, rolling around, collecting coins to up your time limit, trying to get to the owl end goal, the game obviously getting more challenging as it goes on.. youll eventually have to grab ont things with your tongue yokkalaylee style, time your jumps through obstacles.. you can tell a lot of love and care went into crafting these challenges and levels.. nothing about this game looks or feels generic, I loved the level and character design.. you can even use the coins and berries you collect o unlock cosmetics.. but this game can be absolutely infuriating to play.. but not in a way that feels unfair, it feels challenging.. you will scream at your screen, you will want to rage quit when you finally get past an obstacle that was giving you trouble only to run out of time and have to start back from an optional checkpoint.. that’s right there are checkpoints to lessen the blow of death, but if youre a crazy person you can play through this game with no checkpoints. I personally woulve loved an even easier mode with no time limit, but im a baby that’s bad at games.
Super Sami Roll is a really special game and if youre into monkey ball style challenges, or in general love yelling at your screen and crying in fetal position every few hours, I highly recommend you pick up super sami roll.
    I give Super Sami Roll
    a 7.5/10
