This is everything that gaming should be. It's an ode to real time strategy and military simulation that respects your intelligence as a gamer. It feels like a labour of love, like how people used to make games before. You can feel that for these guys, the game they made is not only a career, but also something special, something that will leave its mark, something that will be remembered, something that they would have loved to see on the market and play it themselves.

I honestly think this is the best, optimal concession that can ever be made between realism and fun, more realistic than that and it wouldn't be fun, and more arcady than this and it wouldn't be a wargame simulator. I think there is no other RTS game like this one. This is as close as you'll ever get to the historical authenticy and source material while still having an actual fun and deep tactical strategy game.

Even the "arcady" elements the game has, such as the "signature" Eugen deck-building (which is even better now with phase-selection) mechanic where you build your own division, customized to what strategy you have in mind and yet limited and balanced by the historical limitations of the division you're using, is itself a "realistic" abstraction, and is super fun. It appeals to my desire of creativity. I love coming up with crazy builds such as having an opening with veteran Luchs german light tanks and being rewarded with an early lead in the game.

Does it have flaws? Yes. I think it takes a little bit of time to get used to for sure. You should play a few games vs Easy AI. But, at the same time, with the amount of experience they have in the genre now, with the experience they have from past games, it is clear that this one has achieved something special as it has probably the best UI of all of them (which isn't a feat since all past games had terrible UI lol), and is probably the easiest out of them all to get into and to start playing.

At least you should try playing it, not to mention that it's one of these games that is super fun even on PvE especially if you play with friends.

This is a reference, the "Total War" of WWII strategy games, a pillar of gaming that we will look back to in the future (and play) with fond memories.

Thanks Eugen. Keep them coming please (also, "Wargame 4: Gulf Wars" when? xD)

More Eugen Systems Artwork! I am a veteran in RTS games (or wargames, whatever). Unfortunately very little excites me in this segment of games already almost extinct. SD 2 made me happy again. Thank you guys! We hope now for SD 3, 4, 5 ... And of course, Wargame 4, 5, 6 ...

This game is a big improvement over its predecessor (Steel Division Normandy 44). This time you are actually controlling an army not only a division, game-play has improved a lot. The only one thing that I hoped for was a tutorial. For Newcomers, tutorial is extremely important in these types of games. Without tutorial, its going to become complex for new players. And they should improve the UI because its less-polished. I hope they add or improve many issues in future. I have played War-game-Red Dragon, it was fun to watch explosions and artillery strikes all around the map.But Overall Steel Division is currently the best WW2 strategy game like Total War. I gave this 9 out of 10 because of no tutorial and a clunky UI which they need to improve. I can recommend this game if you like large scale battles. Also mod support is planned for future and this time with more capability. So keep an eye on that. Expand

What a game! I fell in love with SD 44 but something was always missing, until SD 2. Hundreds of bullets and flak clouds when anti air units shoot at the enemy planes having a dogfight with your planes overhead brings a feeling of joy and amazement. I sometimes lose track of the battles because I find myself watching the scenes more which, might be why I enjoy watching the replays of my battles afterwards. I did not give the game a 10 as there is always room for more and, the devs have promised more. If you like to be captured by amazing MASSIVE maps with amazing battles and tactics this is the game you can invest in. Expand

This is a mastepiece offering mixture of grand strategy when you play as a general with real-time strategy when you play as a colonel. Over 600 real-existing units, real Operation Bagration battalions, 25 real battlefields scaled at 1:1, endless hours of historically accurate WWII Eastern Front game.

Best RTS of 2019. Really good and fun in multiplayer. I need a tutorial for the new solo mod but it seems to be very interesting.

One of the best strategy games ever. There are some bugs and glitches but nothing serious or game-breaking. It offers tons of content and requires real skill. It is like a darksouls but RTS - difficult in a good way.

Fantastic WWII experience 'Total War like'. It's not easy to get into this game especially if you never played Wargame/SD before, but in my opinion SD2 is the best WWII strategy, a love letter to fans of the genre, with hundreds well designed units and tons of fun. It's worth every penny!

Fantastic game. It's a little bit difficult to jump in cause there is no real tutorial but otherwise there is so much love of detail. Such a amazing community and a amazing dev team which take care of us.
I love the game and in my eyes it's way betther as steel divsion normandy. And it runs super smooth. I can absolutly recommend it

I liked it. Hard to learn, fun to play - that's about this game. Compared to SD Normandy 44, the new game in the series has become larger, the visuals have become more realistic. I like how they added the Russian side of the conflict, and the Baltic, Romania, Finland. Because of this, the new part has become larger not only in the gameplay, due to the large number of units under control and large maps, but also more diverse in the choice of the nation. I would also like to note that if you do not have DLC, this does not affect the experience in multiplayer. Even the basic set of armies (which is very extensive) can be played comfortably. The one thing that disappointed me was the new interface, which became more similar to the Wargame series. Personally, I liked the interface of the first part of SD. Also a minus for me is the lack of city battles, as it was in the first part. All battles take place either in the forest, fields or in the villages. My final mark is 9.5 points. Round 10. The best WW2 RTS for today. Me and my friends are enjoying this game. Expand

The game is well optimized, the setting of the game in 1944 is very pleasant and gives the possibility of many theatres of war. I like the game very much and recommend it

A great successor to a great game that pulls off everything its predecessor did, and something more besides. But there are also the same mistakes and some brand new ones.

Eugen Systems’s Steel Division 2 is an incredibly detailed and immersive RTS game, but its lacking content and virtually non-existent accessibility makes this a hard sell for anyone outside of Eugen’s fanbase.

Steel Division 2 didn't blow me away, even though I did enjoy myself watching my army blow away the enemy. It's a very well put together game, a beautifully detailed game, but it feels a bit basic. There's a lot of potential in there that I'd like to see elaborated on more. I'd like to see more done with the General's Map table, I'd love to see an encouragement of deeper tactics in the actual battles. I think Steel Division 2 is a great way to kill some time in the annual summer gaming drought, but beyond that I'm not sure I'll be picking it up again any time soon.
