    A perfect introduction to the card game genre. Steamworld Quest may not be the deepest game out there, but what it tries to achieve it does so in a sublime way. Highly recommended.

    SteamWorld Quest Hand of Gilgamech is a very fun, beautifully designed RPG, deck building game that can be beaten in a short time but does have some minor drawbacks.

    In terms of content and mechanically identical to the previously releases Switch version, the card battles with their simple ruleset suffer only from the rather lackluster port to PC.

    SteamWorld Quest isn’t going to be the next Slay the Spire, and to be honest, die hard Spire-ites will probably find its one-and-done story a bit, well, restricting. But for card novices (which I count myself one of), it’s still a real charmer, no matter how sluggish it might get in those early hours. There’s so much heart in Image & Form’s games, and SteamWorld Quest is no exception.

    My least favorite of the Steamworld games; just lacked some of the polish and charm I've come to expect from Image & Form. Weird difficulty spikes and odd balancing didn't help either. I strongly disliked the main character and swapped her out as soon as I could. Thankfully, it still has the addictive gameplay loop that all of their games feature, so I'm still rating this fairly high. It was enough to get me to play through it a second time, so still fun.… Expand

    - lame story
    - lame characters
    - boring dialogue
    - questionable dfficultiy
    - reskinned enemies

    It's an ok game. My biggest gripe are the uninteresting story and characters devoid of any personality. I also found the difficulty to be too..easy? I found my go-to cards about 2 hour into the game and kept spamming them. I've never failed one encounter in this game, I think this is the first time in my life I've never got a game over, ever. It's essentially a card based turn based game. I enjoy turn based games, and the game mechanics here are solid to keep me grinding through.. (being that there's not much card based games helps also.) Everything else in this game is pretty bland though imo. To end, if you don't like turn based games..stay far away. If you like, give it a shot when it's on sale?    … Expand

All battles start to be annoying after one hour, because they are all the same, and you can't avoid battles and they occur every 2 minutes. All maps are narrow corridors without anything interesting, and they also get boring after 30% of the game.… Expand

    Someone wisely asked "Couldn't Slay the Spire be prettier?" but then someone else returned, "Only if we remove the gameplay."
