    It might be more of an ugly duckling than the console versions were, but this is still the zombie-survival game we've been waiting for all these years. It's not perfect, and sure as hell not an ageless beauty, but in breadth and depth utterly fresh and fully engaging. One of the most pleasant surprises of the year.

    The PC version of State of Decay brings all the exciting survival experience already seen on Xbox 360. While the content is basically the same, the game looks now better thanks to 1080p support and improved textures.

    It is a pity that you cannot fight together with others players against the zombie hordes. Because behind the sometimes ugly façade hides an interesting living (or dead) world in which you truly have to fight to survive.

    You get more than a simple head-basher. Instead, you have action, stealth, roleplaying, and even some light strategy that brings out the simulation in survival-sim. Your choices have weight. Zombies are deadly. The good guys don’t always win.

    If you want a zombie game thats more than just mindless running around killing zombies you will love this.
    Best zombie sim ever made.
    Not for crybaby gamers, IE ones that rage quit after some challenge or after losing a character they worked on leveing up due to perma death.

If you are looking for a fun open world survival zombie game with some base building then look no further. It even has some minimal character development and plot to help drive the story forward. I see complaints on here for controller support. I can see how this would be an issue, but for me I often play with controller on PC so I did not feel this.

    Character Development 6/10

    I bump up my rating a bit to balance out the 0/10 negativity on here. All in all I put it at 8/10, up there with Red dead redemption undead nightmare (still my all time favourite zombie survival game of all time).    … Expand

    An awesome immersive zombie survival game for only 20 dollars...it has its share of bugs and glitches but you'd be hard-pressed to find oneAn awesome immersive zombie survival game for only 20 dollars...it has its share of bugs and glitches but you'd be hard-pressed to find one that is game-breaking...the graphics aren't state of the art and the story really isn't the greatest either but if your into zombies and open world games you cant go wrong with state of decay. It has several nice RPG elements added in...you can pick special skills and level up your characters cardio and fighting skills etc. etc. You manage your community's construction and morale...your characters even develop traits that affect them positively or negatively. For 20 dollars you can't go wrong with State of Decay.… Expand

I understand that the game is still in development, but there is a lot about this game that makes it feel like the port that it is. The idea behind the game is interesting, but it seems to take too much gameplay to get to the parts that are interesting. Mostly, this is your standard, kill zombies game and do it how you want to, with some quests that sometimes have some strange requirements. The map does seem large and the detail in the towns is nice, but it wasn't enough to make me want to keep playing.… Expand
